im from malaysia. my phone comes with stock S5830DXKPD. i have flash cm7 and now trying to go back to stock rom. i also tried to restore the backup i made from cwm before. however, it stuck with 'galaxy ace' logo. one of my friend suggest me to flash the stock rom which i can get from sammobile.
so my question is, can i flash the firmware using cwm??? or is it can be flash using odin only???.
for your information, my phone cant be detected by the pc after i flash cm7. so cant use odin or if you guys have any idea for me to use odin.
really need help. thanks

kies is only meant for stock rom, not custom rom.

i was thinking the same thing. u cant flash to stock using kies on a custom rom, but u can flash back to stock via odin.
for odin to recognize your phone, please get your phone into download mode where by your screen will only show the word "downloading" in yellow...
Go to download mode (hold down Vol down+power+home) then connect to pc. If that won't work, put off your sim, sd, battery. Connect to pc. Now hold down vol down + power + home for a while. Now put in your battery and again hold down vol down + power + home. That worked for me when i broke my rom It don't have to work for you. You can try this only at your own risk.

if you has RESTORE the Backup in CWM, before reboot, perform full wipe/data. if still bootloop, Shutdown and perform full wipe/data again. I had experience too. Sorry for my English.
If your device not detect on your PC, reinstall SAMSUNG DRIVER and REBOOT.

In CWRecovery; format cache, data, system, & internal sd card. In Odin, flash stock rom. Then jig or Triangle Away to reset flash counter. Done. That's what I'd do if I was selling it or sending it in for warrant service.

You missed a point. Triangle Away needs root. So use it first, then do all the other steps

Also you can be sure everything is stock as per youor country/region, if Samsung Kies recognizes your phone and says "Update available" or "This is the latest firmware".
I've found the guide to restore to stock firmware here:
http://www.androidnz.net/2012/01/restoring-your-samsung-galaxy-s2-back.html
And the list of stock firmwares here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Just one n00b question, though.. How do I know which stock ROM to flash on to the phone? I'm in Australia and it came from Vodafone stock (but was unlocked).
Regards.

I looked for the CSC for Australia and it's XSA, so any device in Australia would I guess be that. The firmware below is single CSC, so it's only for Australia. It's Android 2.3.6 Unbranded.
GT-I9100_XSA_I9100XWKK2_I9100XSAKK1_I9100XXKI
Steps to flashing back to stock:
1. If you've got the yellow triangle, remove it with Triangle Away..
2. Put the phone into download mode (volume down + home button + power button)
3. Open Odin v1.85 You'll see in the white box when the device is plugged in and also in download mode a message saying "Added!"
4. Select the firmware you downloaded, extract to to see the GT-I9100_XSA_I9100XWKK2_I9100XSAKK1_I9100XXK.tar.md5 file.
5. Select PDA in Odin, select the file you now extracted.
6. Start flashing.
PS. You need to wipe/data cache after doing this or before else you'll be stuck in a bootloop. That can either be done in CWM, or the stock recovery.
Odin will take about 2 minutes for the whole process and you'll be back to stock.
Hope I helped.

Any ideas, guys? I've got someone buying my phone in the next 2 days and need to revert it back to stock and remove all my data from it! :fingers-crossed:

Thanks for the quick reply.
I just tried Mounting /System and installing the .apk from Root Explorer and I still get the same parsing error.
Is there a different TriangleAway version I could download perhaps?
Cheers for the assistance.
I think if you flash stock firmware with Odin you do not get a yellow triangle.

Is it possible to restore a stock rom onto my S2 without using the USB port/ODIN?
My S2 has a faulty USB port that only works for charging (sometimes if I wiggle the cable around), cannot transfer data over the usb cable at all and will not connect to my pc so doubt it is going to work with ODIN.
I can transfer files to the phone using airdroyd and can flash using Rom Manager, will this return it to the standard rom if I flash the correct ROM onto it?
Is there anything else I need to do?
Thanks

Yes, you can.
Use Mobile Odin app (requires root). It works like Odin, but u don't need a PC for that!
And avoid using ROM Manager. Many people have had issues using it before.

Hi guys
I'd like to do a factory restore to stock (full wipe) from rooted Vanilla Rootbox ROM V4.2 (JB 4.2.2) Do I just reflash a stock ROM from SamMobile?
I've been flashing custom ROMs for a while but something is screwy and unstable now and I get a "UID errors" message on boot-up so I want to start from scratch, then reroot and reload the custom ROM again.
Many thanks in advance.
I am a newbie from Nepal. I dont have much knowledge of flashing. A week ago i tried to flash CMW recover while i was in resurrection remix JB rom. Till then i am not able to start my phone because it freezes at "Samsung Galaxy S2" logo... Now i dont know the CSC, PDA and kernel version of my mobile. So please help me solve my problem, how can i make it work?
Boot into recovery (Turn phone off. Then hold home/power/volume up) & do a wipe/factory reset. Or if you have a recent backup (or any backup) restore that from recovery. I've done this a couple of times over the past few mths when my phone has spontaneously bootlooped.
didnt help

In that case flash any stock rom you like. I gather you'll be going back to a custom rom pretty quickly in any case (?) so it doesn't matter. Whatever you do tho, do not flash a PIT.

All I can do is download a rom which is in zip format, but i know odin does not support .zip but it supports .tar, so how can i download rom in .tar, also does it matter if I flashed the rom which is not meant for my region?(I mean I dont know my phone's PDA and I am not able to decide which firmware to download since every firmware has its own specific PDA)... Yes, I'll be going back again to custom rom after I make it work...haha
AFAIK a rom for another country wont break your phone, but be careful with 4.0.4 roms because of the brickbug

go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3 and choose the stock or even another stock rom you wish, download it.
Boot into download mode and flash the single .tar file through odin, flashing instructions can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
PD: if the downloaded file is .zip and not .tar, just extract the zip and u'll get the .tar

He means don't do a wipe/factory reset from recovery while you're running that kernel. Once you switch to a custom kernel you can relax tho.

Parameter is incorrect error can be caused by either of two reasons
1 . something is wrong with the file you downloaded try re downloading
2.Kies is interfering with Odin, terminate Kies from the background by using the task manager.

What isn't working? Did it flash successfully but not boot? Just do a factory reset. If it didn't flash completely, then you have to let us know what happened before it failed.

Ok, so typically when people say they flashed a rom, that means a custom version through a custom recovery. But you said earlier you tried to install through Odin. This is an important distinction. If you tried to flash a custom rom and it didn't work, then flashing the correct stock firmware through Odin will resolve. If you flashed through Odin and it gave you that warning, then you need to find the right one and re-try.

I tried rebooting it but no effects. Then i tried to flash new roms but in every rom CWM showed errors and i couldnt install any. Any suggestions?
Flash back to a stock rom via odin then try another rom or use the one you have been using. Sometimes you can't flash one rom over another.

To flash via odin you will need original samsung USB cable and Odin3.9 or 3.0. Download stock rom by searching on Google DOWNLOAD STOCK FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 I9300. After download open Odin if u are using odin 3.09 then u will get option AP then u have to flash via that....If u are using latest version u will get option PDA...so flash via that.
If u got success.....hit thanks:good:
