Advanced calling is officially online - Xperia Z3v General

No need to do the workarounds anymore, if you're on Lollipop now just go to Advanced Calling and activate it!

cool I'm going to delete my workaround if I can figure out how. Wonder if it's 509... And I just read a post on here about stagefright 2.0 ****ing bullshat so our phones are still vulnerable to specialy modified mp3 and mp4- so someone can do remote executions. but so is everyone elses phone...

I do hope this is something positive, not getting to hopeful just yet, have not seen any indication of a OTA yet.

What differences do you hope in seeing in the OTA from what's already out?

Final build, did you say the or someone else that the .ftf R4C still didn't have the Stagefright patch? I do hope the final release has that patched and the new Stagefright 2 patch as well.
I have beta tested Winders/Linux and other software for years and the final release is well final, may be some bugs still but most are squashed and gone.
This is not my first pony ride, although I have not posted on XDA I have been active in the Android community since the first Moto Droid, just not on XDA.
Have used Linux since Red Hat then Corel days, Google it.

Thanks for the heads up. I was able to activate it from the My Verizon app on stock KitKat. I've never flashed lollipop either

that's interesting so we could have had this all along. I thought kitkat didn't support advanced calling natively that's what I've read and I know our phones don't have dual radios so I don't get it I want to revert back to test it but I will take your work for it. Do you actually have 4g when on a call now. and can you use the Internet while on the phone.

We wouldn't have had this all along because in the my verizon app if you tried to add the advanced calling feature to a line with an xperia Z3v you'd get an error saying it wasn't a volte capable device. It referred you to a list of volte capable devices and the z3v wasn't on the list. I do however do not understand how advanced calling would work on kitkat.... for one thing they're missing proprietary libs for HD video calling as well as the apps and the IMS bootstrap to keep advanced calling on between reboots, but hey if it's working for people on Kitkat that's wonderful news, they deserve it. I'd take it as a good sign that they finally got around to adding volte in their systems, to me that says the OTA is greenlighted and we're just waiting on the beginning of the roll out. What's disappointing is that Verizon is giving us 5.0.2, but hey it's better than what we've had. I'm grateful.

I can confirm mine is working on 5.0.2.

Has anyone else been unable to mute calls that are not HD Voice?

Today I deactivated advanced calling. I believe it was causing excessive noise during Bluetooth calls. I never had Bluetooth issues before Lp and advanced calling. 4.4 was flawless for me

Added advanced calling to my stock 4.4 phone, but I don't get simultaneous voice and data during calls. ?

Not quite -- I'm on stock 4.4 and I've enabled the feature with Verizon, but after rebooting my phone I still don't see an option to turn on Advanced Calling features. (Am I missing them in the menus? Where are they?)

That's the lollipop part. The advanced calling is it's on tab in the OS settings.

Anyone else have issues with activating advanced calling. I select the HD calling in the settings. I get a message that indicates I already have HD calling and that I should restart my phone. Restart and same message pops up when I get a call that I don't have data while on a call.

Solution: had to delete HD calling from Verizon, waited over night then added HD calling from the settings menu. Don't know how many times I've added and removed advanced calling before but waiting seemed to do the trick.

How do i deactivate advanced calling. I have had tons of issues since activating it. I still get a message when i get calls saying no data available, i also cannot enter credit card numbers. I have not been able to successfully enter a card number even once since activating it, every time i am very careful an hit the right keys but it says thats not a working card. I have had no issues what so ever doing that before activation of advanced calling. Is there a way to remove or deactivate it completely or at all?

Just turn it off. There's a toggle in settings... If you're on lollipop.. Which if you're not, I guess you could do it in my verizon add remove features

Well i never actally turned any of the toggles on. I just activated advanced calling thru my verizon app. Since i activated it, i have not been able to enter a credit card number sucessullly, i know that advanced calling feature was the change that made my poblem. Becouse before activating it i never had an issue, but within a couple hours of activating it, i tried to enter my credit card number over phone call and every single time (ive tried so many times since the activation of advanced callig) every time it tells me sorry, thats not the right number. Ive tried with multiple cards, and the same result evey time. I just want to know, besides turnig off the toggles in settings( that i never used or turned to on). Is it possible to deactivate it thru verizon or delete it from my account. Can someone help me figure it out. It has been a huge inconveniance for me. The only toggles i have in settings are one for hd voice and one for video calling, and on above those 2 that is not labled and i figured was to turn advanced calling on or off. I never used it. When i first activated it ,it was done through my verizon app, an i didnt realize till reading more later on here , that there was section in settings for advanced calling. By that time i was already trying to remove it due to my card number entering issues, so i never turned any of the toggles on. Anyone know of anything that i could do to remove the feature completely.

SMS Bluetooth App

So I found this app which looked really promising but unfortunately doesn't work for me.
Basically would let our Omates send/receive sms via our phones Bluetooth while using our existing phone number. Would be great to not have to rely on wireless or a sim card with a new number.
I was never able to get the Bluetooth to work as it never connected with phone. Im not sure if it is a issue with my phone or with my Omate.
If someone wants to try and see if it works that would be great. The program is $2.99 but you can just refund withing 15 min if it doesnt work like i did.
Heres a full description & link:
Tablet Talk is a tablet SMS texting app that lets you text from a tablet and even make voice calls, while your phone stays in your pocket! It works with all Android tablets, including Nexus, Galaxy, Note, and Kindle Fire tablets. Unlike other apps, Tablet Talk doesn't force you to use a new phone number... your friends, coworkers, and family can contact you with your existing Android phone number. In addition, Tablet Talk does not require an Internet connection, does not store your data, and does not eat your battery!

BT paring/tethering in that manner does not work on any of the x201s.
What works;
Phone > BT Pair/Tether > x201 w/ SIM > Data/Internet
What doesn't work;
x201 > BT Pair/Tether > Phone w/ SIM > Data/Internet

I got this app to work. I figured I've blown more than $3 in my life of silly stuff. I've only tested it once, but it was fun to reject a call from my wrist.
First part:
Both devices are initially detected as a phone. You have to manually go in on the TrueSmart and switch it to "tablet". (Menu->Settings->Setup->Device Type)
Second part:
The bluetooth pairing screen is too big. (It was written for a tablet, no doubt.) If you installed "App Settings" module for Xposed, switching the DPI to 80 will get you past the pairing screen, after which you can put the DPI back to default.
Third part:
The app settings by default don't relay phone controls over to the tablet (watch) so you need to change the settings to make this happen. From the watch, Menu->Settings->Caller ID/Phone Calls.
Post back if you try and it works or doesn't.

I'm still battling this. The app works perfectly on wifi, but very unreliable on bluetooth. Unfortunately, my phone is an SGS3 running CM11 and the bluetooth there is only slightly more reliable than the bluetooth on the TrueSmart so I'm not sure where the problem lies. I haven't gone through the app maker's FAQ yet, and am hopeful I can make it work.
Anyhow, to answer your question:
If you installed Loki's patch, you should have an app called xposed installer. Make sure you have gone in the framework section and done install/update and the reboot required after.
Then go back into the xposed installer and into download. Down in that list somewhere you should find the App Settings module. Download that and install it.
Then go back and into the modules menu. Make sure you have a checkmark in the App Settings module and reboot again.
Now, you can go into app settings (should be a normal app - or you can navigate to it through xposed installer and modules then click on App Settings) and choose the Tablet Talk application and change its DPI to 80. Instead of switching it back to "0" of no override after, I've got it on 92 right now because that makes the dialer portion of the app usable for tablet talk. If you don't care, you may want to go back to default.
Good luck!

Same thing here - about a 30 second connection between the TrueSmart and my stock Nexus7 2013, then it drops.

defiantly the firmware on mine dont think its a bad antenna. Really hope they get on the ball and fix this stuff. I cant even get the bluetooth to see my cars bluetooth or headphones. Not sure whats going on. Really frustrating I cant use it for the things i bought it for.
If it is a bad antenna I doubt I'd be able to even request a replacement since every email to them seems to go into a black hole lol

So i got it to work over bluetooth with the instructions your provided. I can send text messages but it doesnt show any recieved. So thats better then nothing I guess lol. Ill keep tinkering with the settings. Not sure why its not syncing the responses.
Also not being notified of phone calls either but i can make them. So not sure if its just some setting i have wrong that is not letting notifications and things come through. Any ideas?
This didnt help
"Third part:

On the phones app it shows the sync log and does show the text messages but the watch is not receiving them. There is a setting on the phone app that says Incoming SMS Fix. Use only if your phones sms app blocks tablet talk from receiving messages.
That doesnt fix the issue. Wonder why you were able to block a call on your watch but I cant.
Ill keep tinkering.

Glad you got it partially working. It looks like the problem is with the BlueTooth on the watch. It can send data to the phone, but it doesn't receive the responses.
The time I did get the call to show up on the watch, I had switched it over to WiFi connect mode. I only realized that after I had already posted.
Anyhow, the app looks pretty decent. Maybe the infamous mythical future firmware update for the watch Bluetooth with fix everything[tm].

At the cost of battery life, ive been running this semi-reliably using my phone as a hotspot and using tablet talk's hotspot mode feature, and connecting on the "tablet"/SmartWatch using wifi mode. Using it like this only makes me wish it worked properly over Bluetooth because short of forwarding all notifications, this is a great great app.

Someone over at Google+ suggested Tablet Notifier. I have received call notifications and SMS successfully over Bluetooth with it. No sending SMS, but that is really not a big deal for me; I hate typing on the watch. Only tried it for a few minutes, but the more of us breaking it, the faster we find if it breaks.

[Q&A] [ROM] BarRin ZV6 - Questions and General

Sorry guys, thought we had one of these already.
Just curious about the V_2.3.1? Mostly the reception, but....
Is the Reception any better - mainly for those that have lousy reception to start with.
Are you having any issues?
I haven't heard anything yet so let me know :good:
I have decent reception at my house but I think the beta added a bar to it (from 3 to 4). Definitely better at my son's school. I was only getting 3g there but now get LTE. The big test will be at work but I'm on vacation and don't go back until next week.
I was so amazed that I actually noticed a better internet connection I never looked at my signal bars there is an extra bar or two in my house, which I swear I only had one if that all the time one thing is that I'm not sure if it is the ROM or me but shutdownani is really choppy, every since 2.2 but I try modules sometimes that make my phone unstable like xprivacy& cool tool which I immediately remove but deff noticed improved signals, like I actually see the difference
Updated to 2.3.1 to check apn, I checked apn setting. They didn't change, so I selected reset to default. Then I lost internet and apn kept selecting VM. On reboot phone app fc. Had to revert apn.config and do ##scrtn

Yes, I already did that edit. 4 me in a specific area the 4G is slower than the 3G. I wanted to try different apns. But those APN would not connect for Sprint at all
What is the intended effect of that file? Sprint has its own APN on a profile update
Works Well for me, definitely see improvement with Switching from 3g to LTE. I also find an LTE signal much quicker. I work in NYC, before the 2.3.1 update I would struggle to get an LTE signal once I left Penn station, now As soon as I walk out it grabs a signal. engine95 you are the Man Bro.
@engine95
I think the apn.config has bad settings for Sprint OTA, I've edited going to test, should be able to activate phone with the edits.

I'm not sure what you were trying to do prior to the above.
If you're talking the apn in the beta, It seems to work better for all of us.

The original, and the beta do the update profile/prl as they should. And "Activate device" is the telltale.
But, you can't use the beta on a fresh install. Meaning on a full ROM. It'll only work as an update.
Remind me again what issue you're trying to fix and I'll see if I can help.
Edit: In V3, it has a new zipalign binary that does what you want.
Did some testing, updating profile/prl works because it uses apn settings from activation, but if you do ##72786# which erases everything then reboots and does an activation using apn.conf.xml to connect to ota. But the setting don't work for ota. Crashes phone app and then only way to fix by wiping and doing clean install.

That would be right because it has to go through the setup all over again. Just like a clean, full rom install. And it can't find the apn it needs.
Yes, all that file is, is a hack. Not a fix.

I've seen that, too. It used to happen with the Mother of all Ad Blockers until that dev removed some entries. Some of the devs apparently host their images on sites that also serve ads.

Mine are but the timing is about 10 sec between blinks.
I guess check your settings, and maybe wipe cache and dalvic?
I just realized I don't have the native Wi-Fi calling app. Can I ##72786# from v 3.01 and get it to download or is that only on factory ROM?

Advanced Calling active?

I just made a call and my LTE didn't drop and I was able to surf the internet while on the call so I think the official OTA is about to drop and they've activated the advanced calling features.
on prerooted .509 btw
I just gave mine a try on .485 and it dropped my LTE as soon as the call began. Can anyone else confirm that it is working on the alternate lollipop?
You can see the ongoing call in the status bar as well as the active LTE

Interesting. I have rooted .485, and want to keep root to get the same firmware as you. Is it a simple upgrade to the new software through TWRP recovery to jump from .485 to yours?

Is there a link to the .509 download? I know it used to be on the Dev section, but I think the thread disappeared.

was it active on your line before with another device? Mine was, and I suppose it could be location specific. Who knows for sure, but it is definitely working for me. Simultaneous voice/data and HD calling.

No, it wasn't active on my line before but we have over 40 phones on the business account and there is no way to activate it on our side of the account management.
Coworkers with the GS5/6 iPhones have advanced calling.
I can't seem to get it working either. Hmmm, I wonder if it is a regional thing or why one person can the feature over the others.

I think unless you had it active already on a different device it won't work. I suspect they have activated it for testing prior to the lollipop update.
Again it's possible they've only activated it for testing it in limited areas.

I have a note5 with it active on my current line and it the interesting thing, is that it shows up when you go into my MyVerizon account as an active feature. Could it be a SIM card issue that only certain ones are supported?

I know it was showing as active for me on the .485 firmware last week, but wasn't working, so I don't think it is a SIM issue.

did this just start working for you or did you get it to activate. On my girlfriends druid turbo after you activate advanced calling it has a menu below where you can check video and voice do you have these options.

Still nothing on .485. I have the option for advanced calling and when I hit it, it says to restart my phone in 5 minutes, but when I restart, there is no options available and it says I have to activate it again.

New PG1 WiFi Calling update dropping today

New update dropping today!
Details:
https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1086930
Sweet, they finally pushed WiFi calling to the S7.
That explains why the security update took longer than usual, AT&T has been knocking them out the first week or so of every month till now.
Thanks, downloading now.
Installed on the regular S7.
So I updated (took about 1 hour to download and update). Immediately I noticed 3 things:
1) A notification with a link to a Display Settings dialog with the option to change DPI between Large and Small. "Settings-> Device->Display->Display scaling" will get you there later. This dialog box is not new; previously you could only reach it by adding .DisplayScalingActivity to Nova Launcher. What used to be called "Standard" is now called "Larger". What used to be called "Condensed" is now called "Smaller".
2) Wi-Fi calling was added to my quick notification settings. It is turned off by default. Toggling it on brought me to a setup wizard asking me to update my physical address for emergency 9-1-1 service. "Settings -> Connections -> Wi-Fi Calling" will get you there later. A very small "+" appears within the standard Wi-Fi status bar icon when Wi-Fi calling is ready. Both my Wi-Fi and cellular signals are strong yet the icon comes and goes. I initiated a Wi-Fi call to voicemail and it asked for my password, which does not happen for cellular calls.
3) Android security patch level: July 1, 2016
Scaling is standard in U firmware and also via a display scaling app in the play store. Just an FYI

Perhaps, but this update added it to the stock AT&T firmware...finally,
Flashed stock then updated to this. Even wiped first. Advanced messaging is useless unless someone else has it. Connected to wifi since setup and it hasn't once shown the icon wifi calling is available.

I'm highly considering going without root. I do think battery was slightly better stock as well.. also I really miss Samsung pay.. and there isn't much to do with Xposed.. I got the notification bar to display network speed and AdBlock..oh and call record is nice but not necessary... other than that, not much to do with root on this device unless someone can fill me in..i can install trebuchet and Google keyboard without root.. also I miss being able to sign into my chase app with fingerprint..

I tried to test the wifi calling out and turned on airplane mode and then turned wifi back on. It shows the wifi calling symbol on top, but when i try to make a call a notice pops up telling me I have to turn airplane mode back off to make a call. It seems that it should make a wifi call just fine with only wifi active? Has anyone else tried this with success?

Well it's very strange. I did several power cycles (on / off) and cleared the cache in recovery and it now wifi calling seems to be working in airplane mode. It's working for now with both calls and texts. I guess its just buggy. Hopefully clearing the cache did the trick.

Anybody using Total Wireless have wifi calling working on their LG V30?
Sent from my LG-H931 using Tapatalk
Is your sim card registered with TracFone for wifi calling? You can register it by searching for "TracFone e911 registration". I'd post the link but my account doesn't have enough posts to embed a url.
The last 4 digits you enter will be the last 4 of your sim card number. If the page tells you the card isn't eligible you might have to have them send you another sim card.
Yes, I have TW and Wifi calling and VOLTE are working fine on my VS996 Oreo install (I think it's 20k?). I did have to use some hacks with Shortcut Master to get this working, and I detailed them on the VS996 Oreo thread...

Got it figured out. Actually, just went by the steps I referenced in the previous post (ie, these steps: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/wtf-lg-v30-t3790500/post76613814#post76613814)
If you're on VS996, you don't have to install those apps, but I remembered that you DO need to have My Verizon installed and updated (not disabled, as I originally had it). Then follow the steps using Shortcut Master as noted on that post. To clarify a bit, I will rewrite those steps here, because a few minor things were missing in the steps when using Shortcut Master. I used v1.2.4 from APK mirror. Below I have copied in the steps, with my edits in [brackets]:
At this point, my phone showed the carrier cell number, which may mean I was all set, but I went on anyway...
After that, I went back to the phone's settings/networks page, and checked "Advanced Calling" and it said it was activated. I also tried a call from my Turbo to the V30 and it showed HD calling was working. Awesome!
@nnjimmy59 You could try those steps (you may need to install VS996 or use the files mentioned in the link above) to get it to work. Doesn't hurt to try!

Eventually I will. It's too buggy from what I'm seeing so far, so I'm not in a rush. Plus I'm out of town on vacation so I don't have the time or tools to tinker properly here.

Just to confirm. If you put it in airplane mode, and turn on wifi, you able to send text and mms? The reason I'm asking so much is because at my job I have very bad signal with Verizon and sometimes I get no signal. Total Wireless has such a good family plan for data, I might go back to them if this does indeed work.

Yes just tested this now. Airplane mode, turn on wifi, texted my wife via Google Messages. We're both on Oreo VS996.
However I did just try to make a call and it said that I need to activate wifi calling. Weird. I did tinker in these settings a few days ago so I may have broken something. I did confirm this once before so I know it worked, as I tested with another user here. I will have to revisit my instructions and see if that fixes it.
EDIT: Yup, calling works too. My Verizon hidden menu/vowifi was turned off for some reason. I used Shortcut Master to turn it back on, and completed a vowifi call to my wife's phone (while in airplane mode with wifi connected).
Remember, my instructions updated some of the links and locations you're looking for in SM... so be sure to find the right hidden menu items.
I didn't have to go further into LG IMS settings...
And to confirm we're both on TW.

I have the same issue after switching my wife to TW and running your debloated ROM (which is nice and lean BTW).
@schwinn8 I can't find an option for Verizon Hidden Menu in Shortcut Master light. I have My Verizon enabled, but can't login due to having Total Wireless as my provider. Not sure if that's needed?

Correct, logging in is not necessary. Follow the instructions I provided before. In my post, I clarified which menus you need, so it should be clear (I don't remember it off the top of my head... that's why I posted it!)
Note, this may not work in Pie... I haven't switched or tried it there yet... I'm still on Oreo.

On Pie I couldn't get it to work, only wifi messaging. If your on my debloated rom, just download Verizon Message+ and run it and let it active. Test it, and if it works put it in airplane mode and turn wifi back on. It should text.
I then download Google Messages that will continue to work now through wifi.

Thanks, I'm mainly looking to get voice calls working over wifi though but I don't want to back her phone down to Oreo now that she's started using it.
