Hey all,
Have had my v10 for a bit over a week now. Concerned that I'm having a few too many problems.
1) The battery appears to be draining at a very fast rate. Relatively light to moderate use is lasting ~8-12 hours. Nothing out of the ordinary app or utilization wise.
2) Even though I turn Location settings to battery saving (network only), every now and then it reverts back to high accuracy (gps and network). Assume some stupid app is doing this?
3) Seems like just after a few minutes of use, I can feel the back of the phone (near the power/volume buttons) getting quite warm.
4) When haptic feedback is enabled (using the home button or just typing on the keyboard), the vibrate feels/sounds ... off. Coming from a Note 3 anyway, this reminds me of a dying motor. Just has a buzzy noise to it.
5) I have a 2.1a 5.2v charger (that I got from my nVidia shield tablet) that I commonly use. When I use this charger on the v10, it makes my phone go berserk. In that, any typing or touch I do, the phone becomes ultra sensitive and double/triple clicks a key and just other random oddities occur. I use this charger on all other phones/tablets without issue.
6) Picasa album sync - Why isn't this working anymore (to see albums in gallery)? I don't even see it as an option under Google account settings.
Any feedback would be most appreciated. only have a few days left to return under the 14 day VZW policy. Thinking at the least to swap for a new V10, but if these are known/common issues. I love this phone, but getting really nervous that there are some QC issues here.
Thanks

i experience the same thing when playing games. about 5 mins into the game, i start to feel the back buttons and camera part start to get really really warm. im really bothered by it.
Its all common in android devices but i believe Sony android is very fast draining battery!!!

1, 2 and 6 I can believe and can be caused by a variety of reasons. 3,4 and 5 point to a defective phone. I am assuming you are using the charger that came with the phone.
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
I've replaced the phone and everything but #6 has been resolved. Would love to figure out how to get Picasa sync working again.
A full factory reset fixed my heating problems.

I actually talked to a phone tester that works for LG here in San Diego. She's from South Korea, she deals directly with corporate in Seoul and translates for them. She said they know that a certain percentage of the phones are defective with overheating and GPS issues.
My V10 got so hot I thought it was going to catch fire. On night it was plugged into my powerpack charging, I woke up and the phone had shut off and it was hotter than I've ever seen a phone get. Like it shut off and just removed all restriction to the power just dumping into it. Kinda scary.
I did end up sending my V10 back under my 14 day return period. I've got another one coming tomorrow. Hopefully it will have no issues

Wow. It's lush. What a really good-looking phone. Having already owned the Kaiser, Diamond and TouchPro, I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into this over the weekend.
Update:
Cool things:
1. Exchange and push email setup easily and working perfectly.
2. Great battery life.
Problems:
1. When I press the power button momentarily (in the hope of switching the screen off) it gives me power off and profile options. There doesn't seem to be a way of just switching the screen off easily.
2. HTC Today screen doesn't show all-day items and there doesn't appear to be a way of showing more upcoming appointments.
3. it's not easy to play solitaire! Although they have included it (phew) it's more than a little tedious with number presses. And there's no option for cumulative and vegas scoring. What kind of solitaire is THAT?
4. Sometimes it seems I need to press the "call" or "end call" keys extra hard. I have started pressing the "end call" key twice as a matter of course, just to be sure.
5. "Batti" doesn't work.
I too am searching for a quick and easy one key click to lock & turn off the display.....my Palm Treo Pro and Touch had this ability.....quick check email/txt, then hit key and it turns off display & locks for pocket protection....

Press and hold the call end key to lock the phone quickly (and dim the screen). This is the same as the S710 and S730.
You can also set this lock to kick in automatically after x minutes in the settings menu as well

I must admit, I have had this a couple of days now and am soooo impressed (I have an S710 before). I had decided to go for the Touch Pro but after 3 faulty handsets and the experience of the really buggy software (does ANYBODY really think a daily reboot is acceptable) I decided to wait for this one.
But the one thing that stands out more than anything else on this phone is that with 3G push mail, wifi on full time, bluetooth on, a bit of GPS use loads of calls and general use, I am getting almost 24 hours out of the battery. That alone is worth the upgrade

Yeah, got there in the end. Nevertheless, I'd prefer a single-touch operation.

My experience with the TouchPro is certainly not as bad as yours. I love it still. Originally the battery life wasn't better than a day, but it would easily last that. It was totally stable. Always. And once I upgraded the firmware and radio, it became a different animal altogether. I usually get two days out of it with good use. Sometimes three.
The S740 is actually for my less-geeky partner who I think will find it easier. Now though, I have it for a few weeks' "testing" and if I prefer it...
...well, you know. Who's in charge here?

Yes, it does show all-day items. And to show more upcoming appointments just hit right softkey ("Today").
I'm thinking of upgrading from an S730, which suffers really badly from a lack of memory (64Mb). I know the S740 has 256Mb RAM but can anyone tell me how much is actually available after a soft-reset? This is the figure that's displayed as "Available Memory" on the "About" screen under the Settings menu.
Thanks

It's the best I have seen on any Windows smart phone EVER.
Today I left the house at 9, took the family on the train to London (a 2 hour trip) for which I spent most of the time with my son watching the progress of the train using the GPS and Google Maps whilst using the free WiFi on the train for data.
Push mail has been running all day and because it was central London, I got a good HSPDA signal for most of the time. I also made a handfull of calls during the day
We then spent the day around London (all that time on the underground with no signal always hammers a phone battery), I took a load of pictures and then we cam home again this evening (again tracking with GPS) and when I got home, the phone connected to the wifi and I synced all the photos back to my home PC. It is now nearly 10.30
So right here right now, my battery level is showing as 61%

I currently have:
Available Memory: 125.34MB
Total Memory: 187.48MB
Please note that I have a few utilities running in the background, so available memory might be even a little bit higher when you first boot it.

My experience exactly. I don't quite understand how does this phone manages to get so much out of its 1000mAh battery, but it's amazing. It easily kills my previous PDA - TyTN II (which had 1350mAh) in terms of battery life in both standby and heavy usage

1 - Of course, this is a smartphone, not a PDA running WM6.1 Standard, it's the OS
I've received it yesterday and it works like a charm. Just wish there was a non-slider version, because the front keypad is good, that I don't need the qwerty keyboard.

Yeah I know that. My point was probably poorly made. I was trying to make two points: that push email through Exchange is working perfectly with no issues and that setting it up was easy.
I so want this phone. As soon as I saw it online my jaw dropped, lol. Having owned 3 htc touches, a s710 vox and s621, i can say I do like HTC products, lol. I just got my 3rd touch, but it just doesn't feel right, the touch screen seems bad (my iphone spoiled me i think), and i can find a good reliable keyboard, so I think im gonna sell it and get another s710 until this phones comes down a bit.
Just curious, where did everyone on here get theirs from, and what kind of prices? I am in Canada, so I won't be able to buy it from a retail outlet
I got mine from Clove Technology in the UK and I'm sure they'll ship if you ask them nicely. I've used them for all my HTC phone purchases and plenty of other gear; they're very good to work with.
the 'amazing' 710
Guys
like everyone else I like the phone, however, I am just not getting the amazing battery life you are talking about.
From my phone on a full charge I am getting: -
Standby time - 6.5 hours
Talk Time - 53 minutes
Device usage - 4 hours 11 minutes
this is without Push E mail (polling every 5 mins) moderate use of wifi and GPS (less than 10 mins) and occasional but consistent use of OCS (office communicator mobile with power saving settings activated for those of you that know it)
so I wondered if people could read from their settings and post, I cant really handle another phone that needs 2 or 3 batterys in a day!

Apologies guys
Typo on my part, thanks Pete,
I do mean the 740, that is what i am using, I had the 710 before hence my mistake!
I have turned off HSDPA, moved to manual polling on e mail to see if this improves the appalling figures.
Pete now I have corrected this, do you have a 740 and if so what is your performance??

Yesterday i updated my lumia 800 with the latest firmware and OS. Prior to update the full battery capacity was 1485 and charged upto 1372. The battery seems to last long now. I also got the network setup app from nokia.
Seems Improved :
1. Battery life
2. Smoothness
Problems :
1. The screen is very dull when set to automatic. It makes the screen look ugly
2. The battery first shows 1475 as full charge capacity later it shows 1445 and it decreases as we use and charge again. But still in detailed battery status full charge capacity shows 1475.
3. No audio improvement and they havent fixed the annoying crack sound while changing tracks(My htc touch 2 produces better audio)
4. Sometimes it freezes
5. No improvement in camera its default mode is macro.
6. Wifi issue is still not fixed
I wish i bough Samsung WP 7.5. Nokia flagship has lot of problems and they still haven't fixed it.
Also i dont have nokia music app. I am located in India.
Previously when ever i opened office and connected to skydrive it gave an error "encountered problem" . Now after flashing the new firmware i did a hard reset and tat problem was solved.
UPDATE :
The full battery capacity is decreasing its now at 1390...any suggestion should i replace my phone?
The vibration is not working properly. Is it because of the update? While in vibrate+Ring it only vibrate once and it just rings. The vibration when we touch the capacitive buttons is also reduced the my battery was below 40% while this happened. I will charge to 100% and i will post the status.
1. Screen adopts to brightness of environment. Why do you need bright screen at night?
4. Haven't any freezes for all the time I have this device. When does your device freeze?
5. Mine lumia saves focus setting and does not revert to macro.
6. What issue with wifi?

+1 on all points.
1. Night its fine. What about the day? Its very dull.
4. While scrolling but not always
5. It does save the settings. But still the camera quality is poor inspite of using carl zeiss lens.
6. While resuming it doesnt connect at times.
Also have you guys tried the WLAN tes? When ever i touch the option, it exits the acreen and opens the previous screen?
1. Hmm... At bright light it automatically sets high backlight setting, tested it yesterday. Your device doesn't?
4. Scrolling main menu? Maybe your device is faulty.
5. So there is no problem with defaults I assume. In any case phone camera is not dslr and "carl zeiss lens" here is just a plastic marketing thing. But for quick photos of documents etc its quality is acceptable as for me.
6. Your access point is hidden? I'm using 3 wifi networks (wpa2, not hidden) with my lumia and it always has stable connection (and it reconnects after sleep but it is feature, not a bug).
After doing the update the led light behind my 3 buttons stopped working.
I havent noticed any improvements in the battery life as im still only getting around 22 hours on a full charge.
Also the screen seems to be alot darker now that before the update.
Thats after setting the brightness to full.
The soft keys only light if low or auto brightness is used now.

4. When scrolling through applications in the apphilights or markerplace(maybe because of the internet speed??)
6.No the access point is not hidden. Its doesnt connect sometimes. Most of the time its fine
Have you tried the WLAN testing in diagnostics?? Its the last option.
Since the last patch my phone reboots. It doesn't do it all the time. Once irs on its fine. But if I turn it of for an hour or more then when I turn it back on it'll reboot 2-4 times before it settles down.
Anyone else had this?
I saw a thread in nokia forums(india) reg reboot issue. Btw have you tried a hard reset? Or restore it to 7740 using zune

I think that WLAN setting in diagnostics is for Lumia 900, like gyroscope.

For every charge the battery capacity decreases
I've heard of the decreasing battery problem several times. I can't check on mine since I just sent it in becaus of a faulty display. I would recommend to contact Nokia via mail or via twitter (@NokiaHelps). They usually respond very fast...

Yes you should return for full price and buy a replacement. An exchange could be a refurbished phone.
Your phone is broken*, why wouldn't you return it?
(* Before someone says it's a firmware issue, this might be so but right now the phone is not operating as it should and thus is broken in the eyes of the user)
the battery has reduced to 1300 and its reducing. Its only been 15 days since i bought it. I am going to replace it with new one or getting my money back!!!
This is from the nokia forums
"I spoke to a representative at a Nokia care point today, and he started all phones showing over 1000 are not faulty and may not be eligs le to be replaced.
I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the poor battery performance on these phones , and apparently it is not just yself with their batteries only varying to around 80% advertised capacity"
I am not sure whether they will replace it!!!! ohh got its really frustrating! I spent so much money on this!

I don't have problem with decreasing battery capacity. Because if it decrease, I would not know it! The phone cannot show my battery capacity anymore and display '?' sign on battery meter!

First off, I'm rooted and have already patched my Omate TrueSmart Developer Edition with Lokifish Marz's security patch.
Device: 1900 1/8 TrueSmart Dev Edition
ROM/Firmware version: Latest
Changes made to stock firmware (if any): A few Xposed mods
Issue: See below, freeze, drain, screen not functioning.
Steps Taken: Restart, antivirus check
One day I turned my TrueSmart on (while off my wrist), went back about 15 minutes later to it and the screen wouldn't turn on. I though "Ahh, that's strange. I thought I turned this on." I pressed the power button multiple times to try to turn it on. It was already on, but the display would not turn on. The battery was charged already and at about 85%. I held the power button and felt the haptic feedback - no screen on.
Earlier that week, I'd noticed that the TrueSmart's battery was draining a bit faster than usual on WiFi alone, no SIM or GPS on. When the screen wouldn't work, I held down the power button for about 10-16 seconds (some Android Devices will restart, but not all, so I gave that a shot). - Nothing. I then left it alone for a day (didn't feel like playing with it after a long and busy work day). I tried to turn on the screen - nothing. I still got haptic feedback so I knew it was on. "Crap - now I have to void the warranty by doing a battery pull." Removed the screws, found the crappy water seal, did a battery pull, and turned the device back on. Screen worked - phew. The past two days it had been draining rather fast and the watch was overheating even though I kept it in about room temperature conditions.
I thought something was up so I ran avast! Anti-virus (I'm not playing the Linux OS' don't need antivirus software game - so let's not go there.) and the definitions/database took over two minutes to update (usually just 15 seconds) on a strong WiFi connection - strange. I ran the scan - nothing showed up but the scan mysteriously kept going away and I had to restart the scan a few times. Finally it worked even though I had to turn my WiFi on the watch off.
My question is - am I being completely paranoid or has my watch been hacked? Fast battery drain, connection issues, screen not responding, overheating - those are signs of spying and wiretapping, am I wrong? For the time being I removed the battery so that way if I am being spied on or hacked, the watch can't be powered on.
I've had the watch for only a few weeks, never installed any strange apps - all legit stuff. Am I crazy :silly: or is this something to be worried about?

I guess my only concern would be...how long did you use the device before installing Loki's patch? Did you connect to any network prior? It's your BT on? Is it set correctly?
As far as the overheating and other issues...I had the same. When I went to the latest Operative 20140318v2, most of the issues fixed themselves. Now, the overheating happens only if I am on a call for more than 10min.
Battery issues have become almost not existent when I patched up. However, I did find that of you upgrade to SL PRO...the juice seems to run out quicker....
I would install a good battery app that monitors ALL processes and hardware using power. I was able to solve a few issues this way.
But, overall, I really don't think you're being watched.
Good luck....

Well I already know you're crazy but...
Even with Ensec or Operative the firmware is still unstable. I randomly get greatly increased battery drain yet even when connected to WiFi with full packet logging nothing stands out as odd. The screen not waking up happens from time to time as well as soft locks are being caused by some apps. I suggest you install a system monitor app and see if a particular app is to blame. On one TS, G+ randomly sits there and updates the feed for hours without ever actually updating. One another, it's weather, then on yet another, no issues at all yet all three are on the same firmware and same patch version and option.
The probability that your TS is hacked is fairly low and I suggest looking at the more likely causes first.
Perfectly normal behavior of Android device
BTW - force (hard) restart on many Android device is vol up + power.
Vol down + power will take screen shot.
Of course, there's many Android devices so maybe that combo also works...
TS is half finished device and we are all lucky we have Loki here...
If we were depending on Omate that wouldn't be good...
I'm still waiting my October 2100 1/8 release and I'm quite sure I won't even open it...
I'll sell that and develop for something else...(don't like when someone treat me like idiot)

Hopefully another Android based smartwatch. Idea man has ideas.

Absolutely another smartwatch...
I was really patient with Omate but this is too much...
If I have to wait almost eight months for Xperia Z2 I would f***ed them off and that's device that will work fantastic from the box.
But to wait something eight months to have 30% finished device (in a hardware and software way) - naaah...I'm (probably) out...
That's too bad, I really liked that idea and specifications but, if anyone wants to be honest - it just don't worth all that "hype"...
To completely relay on XDA devs to fix tethering and paring, to patch their incapacities and mistakes...to found their company and then wait for them while they are selling watch (newer and better) for a months...
Way tooooo much for me...
Sorry guys for spamming thread

@funky0308 - Totally hear you. Maybe the Neptune Pine (quite a bit larger but still) may be better when it's finally released. The TrueSmart is unstable in some ways.

Haha, we all are a bit crazy. Could make sense.
@mghtymse007 - I used it for a few days before the patch but I should do a factory reset and try to re-patch just to be extra safe.
So I bought my phone from AT&T just as the new M8 was coming out (got a good deal as a result) and ever since that day its been dependable, efficient, and never lagged a single second.
But then the HTC Sense 6 ROM started to act up, opengl issues, and various bugs that drove me insane! So I switched to CM11, (btw no IR or radio or hardware encoding support on it) and all went well until about 2 weeks ago.
Suddenly my phone is sluggish at times, especially on switching applications, and the battery life went from around 10 hours average usage, to 5... Now its down to 3... Not only that but the phone is HOT!
If I even watch a Twitch stream, or YT video, or play a game, or even navigation, camera, chrome, anything with it (including listening to music), the device gets to 43 degrees C. That is with the device out in the air, passively cooling.
If I leave it on a surface, with the back covered up (like in my pocket, or watching a video in my bed) it will go past 50 C, and climb further! At one point in my car while driving, (was charging and navigating, aux was connected so i could get audio navigation through my speakers) I suddenly realized I had past my exit 5 miles back, and had to stop to check the phone...
The phone was not responding to my wake button presses, nor holding it down, it was not outputting directions, and the red LED light was softly lit (not flashing) so immediately I unconnected the charger, and aux cable. The phone still didn't respond, holding power + vol up soft resetting it worked. But what struck me most was how blooming hot it was! It was NOT in direct sunlight, nor was the display on. It practically burned my hands! I had to look up how to soft reset the phone, using my old LG Nitro HD which is my GPS tracker for my car (nifty setup btw).
Now I had an LG Nitro HD which did this sort of thing 24/7 and I could not STAND that phone, since you had to baby the device every second to keep it cool, otherwise you would need to restart.
I have seen numerous threads online about the HTC One getting toasty, and it has before for me, but NEVER THIS HOT! Also this only JUST started happening (its not related to CM11 since I had a backup of HTC's ROM and it did the same thing (in fact it was even slower x.x)
Now here is my question : is this a normal occurrence for smartphones of this age? I think its 1-2 years old... Its past the warranty I suppose (still have the card, and box btw) Is this something that I just have to deal with?
I have used the phone alot while it was charging, and left it on a charger for a long time after it was fully charged... (i thought newer phones had a disconnect for charging)
What bothers me is how suddenly the phone has become stricken with this... problem. It has only been 2 weeks, and battery life is effectively halved, and I am afraid to even USE navigation anymore (unless I hold the phone up infront of an AC vent, which I did all the way home >.< not a fun task since its a manual!)
Thanks in advance!
I had this issue with my M7 for T-Mobile. I would factory reset it and things would be okay for a while until I logged into all of my common apps and realized it would happen again... Some apps make the phone work harder and a lot more on the M7... The way I fixed this was I removed apps I didn't really use and make sure to not be logged into apps that I don't commonly use... The other thing I did was restart after using any video and audio apps... One more thing was I turned on the power saver option with vibrate and cpu unchecked and my phone started acting better...
Edit: if you have insurance through at&t I would go back to complete stock (get rid of tampered flag and red warranty warning included) and let them know it's freezing up. They should send you a replacement and it may help you out...

Yeah actually I just factory resetted the phone, and its absolutely normal now... Furthermore the USB speed is no longer 1mb/s and instead is back up to USB3 speeds!
BTW I did a firmware AND software factory reflash / reset.
I know all the reviews said this phone got slightly warm due to the screen, but in my nearly year-long stint of owning this phone, I find that remark to have been grossly misrepresented. When charging, my phone gets extremely hot on the power button. After charging, it takes a good 5-10 minutes to cool off. While the phone is hot, (and I mean HOT,) the phone hiccups, stutters, and can become totally unresponsive. Applications act up, etc.
When I attempt wireless charging with my add-on receiver, things get infinitely worse. I cannot charge with the screen on and data connected.
In my car, I connect via BT to my car, my audio receiver, and my OB2 scanner. That doesn't seem to be a problem, other than BT being sometimes flaky. I have a wireless charger in my car, but I only used it once -- no point. Now, even with my 2.1a charger, I cannot keep my G3 topped-off while using GPS and streaming Spotify. The phone practically melts. Things are better when I'm blasting the A/C on it straight from a vent, (and worse if I try to use my heater in cold months.
Basically this thing is in a perpetual state of overheating. I have had three of these. My last unit overheated so badly that the screen became discolored. You might say that I expect too much from my phone, but my M7 had no issue, and my S5 did not overheat. I had to give up the Sammy for other reasons.
I have made various tweaks in the past in attempt to counter the sluggishness due to heat, but that's dangerous--and likely why my last phone actually failed. I decided to leave that alone and deal with the crippling slowness. Even something as simple as swiping a word on the Google Keyboard becomes impossible.
My question to you guys, is do you notice this burden on a daily basis? Perhaps the average person that doesn't need a charger all day can keep this beast cool? I am strongly considering the S6 because of the reports flooding in of how hot the Snap 810 runs compared to the Exy. What are your thoughts?
I haven't seen this behavior at all. I've had little blips of hotness, but I almost think it's more environmental in some cases. Certainly not while charging, and I routinely leave it plugged in while I'm using it or watching Netflix or something. I'm sure you've thought about this, but are you sure it's not your charger? Does it overheat after a full factory reset (i.e. out of the box)? If not, what specific add-ons and/or ROMs do you use?

Due to the nature of DC, the charger cannot be the culprit in terms of overheating. Not staying topped off? Sure, but not the heat. The phone regulates all of that.
You are telling me that you can stream Spotify (highest setting for me,) and Google navigation, and your phone doesn't get blisteringly hot? I've been charging on the cable (instead of wireless,) to get my phone up from 93%, with the screen completely off, and it's pretty warm on the power button right now.
I am running stock ROM, (though rooted.) I have used various G3s, various ROMs, completely stock, various chargers, you name it. No matter what, this phone gets furiously hot when the screen stays on. Even using it as a clock on my desk causes it to heat up like no one's business. Streaming a movie causes it to get pretty damn hot. It seems like the environment of the car being warmer, and GPS being used with data is the main culprit. Like the internal heatsinks/paths become overwhelmed.

A simple solution might just be buying an external charger and spare battery combination and never use the phone for charging.
I have always bought external battery chargers and hot swapped a fully charged battery and put my dead battery on the external wall charger when I go to sleep.
Hope this helps.
(I've been buying Anker chargers & batteries on Amazon with success)
I think you're right. However I likely won't keep this phone much longer. S6 Active or G4 are calling my name...
