WIFI Issues When Screen Off - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

Hey Everyone -
I noticed when I am using connected to my 5Ghz wireless router and my phone screen is off I get disconnected from the WIFI. Once I unlock the phone I am prompted with the message "Connected to WIFI". Is anyone else having this issue?

I've noticed that the only problem with my 5.0 GHz router is the signal strength compared to my 2.4 GHz network. T
I haven't ever been disconnected, though.

[Q] Bluetooth interferes with wifi connection

Recently I started using a Bluetooth mouse with my tab and I noticed that my wifi connection and speed would sometimes randomly drop. At first I though it was my router but both my laptop and phone had a stable connection via wifi. I decided to run several speed tests on the tab, first with Bluetooth off, then again with it on. With BT off, I averaged 3-4 Mbps which is my normal connection but with BT on, the speeds stuttered between 400-900 kbps. I know BT will cause some interference with wifi but I didn't expect it to be that severe. Is anyone else having the same issue?

Nope. None here. Ran the FCC an speed test everal times. Everything looked good. I use a Dell bluetooth mouse that I have had for a while.

[Q] WiFi Vs. WiFi through Tethering - Signal Strength

Hello People,
I have noticed that on my TF Prime, the signal strength is different between connecting directly to a WiFi network (for eg., in my University) and connecting WiFi through the Tethering feature (through my SGS2 phone).
The signal is much stronger when connected through my phone (through tethering) than when connecting directly to the WiFi network.
Is this normal and has anyone else had similar experience?
Also, is there anything that could be done to make signal reception stronger when connecting directly to the WiFi network?
PS., the signal in our university is of top speed and so there is no problem with the WiFi routers / service...
Thanks in advance.. Cheers.
Depends what you mean by signal strength?
Do you mean you get more Wifi bars? This would be expected since your phone is close to the TFP.
Do you mean you get better throughout in Mbps?

Well I'm tethered to my phone right now, and I have 100% signal strength, because my phone is in my pocket. At home connected to WiFi, I get about 60% signal, because the router is on the other floor. So it just comes down to how far you are from the signal. I take it you keep your phone closer to you than the university router? Simple as that... in my case anyway.
Only way to get a stronger signal on the Prime is to get closer to the router.
Thanks a lot for the info.
Alright I get it.. Yes, the phone is closer to the TF Prime.. and when I mean the WiFi is weak, I refer to the throughput in mbps.. I haven't measured, but it's visibly (obviously) slow when connected directly to the WiFi network..
But then, on my phone (SGS2), when I connect to the WiFi network, its blazing fast.. How come? Because my phone is also far from the WiFi router in our department floor?
I tried both the TF prime and SGS2 from my office desk and the SGS2 WiFi connectivity is super fast.. while on the TF Prime is much slower..
But when I connect my TF Prime through my phone with the tethering feature, then the TF Prime WiFi is faster (compared to when connecting directly).

Lol welcome to the Prime.
The further you are from the connection, your through-put (d/l, u/l seems pretty unaffected) is exponentially worsened. The Prime can't hit large distances and keep good through-put: I believe the general consensus being that the all-metal body is at fault.
Your phone connects to that network better because it's plastic, the signal is doing fine. And the Prime connects to your phone fine because the phone is so close to it. But the Prime connects to that network poorly because of interference from the body, even though connected it is hampered. That's all it is, when you're tethering from your phone you're pretty much reproducing the signal from a new AP right next to the Prime.
Now, on to what I thought this thread was about lol. I've noticed that my Prime sees and connects to actual WiFi networks no issue. However, when I tether with my phone I'm often faced with one bar of connection (actual signal strength is fine, ~65 dBm) even though they're literally not a foot from each other.
Ok..thanks for your detailed explanation.. Lol.
I get the idea though..

WiFi weak and unknown call issue

Is anybody having issues with WiFi being weak and contacts that you have saved showing up unknown when they are calling? The WiFi is noticeably weaker because usually I would get strong WiFi signals downstairs when my router is just upstairs on my gs2. But apparently my gs3 dosent pick up at all downstairs. I would have to be close to the router for it to work. Any insight?

Wifi and touchscreen question

Hi,
I'm interested in the following 2 aspects of the Z2 performance I haven't found a conclusive answer to anywhere else yet:
* How is the touchscreen responsiveness of the Z2? And has anyone observe anything unusual when using something like the Multitouch Test app? I see some past and present Xperia devices showing issues in this area.
* How is the wifi throughput and connectivity in general? Has anyone done any test if it can go consistently above 50 Mbps throughput through an N or AC wifi AP?
Thank you

Well 1 thing i noticed, is that if you turn on glove mode, screen is so sensetive, that you dont even have to touch it, it reacts when your fingers are milimeters away from screen. So no issues with responsivness if thats what you meant

Touchscreen works very well.
You can even use a pencil...
The Wlan seems not as perfect....
I use here a Wlan Router with 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz AC. But it is pretty useless. To use AC you have to sit near the router.
Even the 2.4Ghz range is not as good as my old Samsung Galaxy S3.
But it seems to be a software issue, because I can see the network with good signal but I can't connect...

[Help]Galaxy S3 wifi problem !!!

Hi !
I don't know why but my S3's wifi gets wierd problem. Yesterday I flash back from CM13 to CM12.1 with Boeffla kernel and then I flash ArchiDroid V3.15. When I connect to wifi it says "saved" and "connecting" all the times (still get the high signal). After trying many time it connects successfullly and I download a soft and troubleshoot it. It says:
- Link speed: 5Mbps
- 802.11b
- CCK
I can make sure my router provide 802.11n (2.4 and 5GHz). I tried to connect to other SSIDs and get same problem. I tried to stand next to AP and , whoa, it connects fast and downloads at full speed. But when I stand 5 meters away problem occurs again (still get high signal). I think maybe the antenna is the problem so i check the pin and use isopropyl to clean it and the wifi module but still get the problem. I don't know whether software or hardware problem. Please help ! (That is the gift my mother gave me in 2012 and i love it so much. And sorry for my bad english, i'm vietnamese).
Have you tried a static network setup?.
Have you rebooted your router and phone?.
Are you connecting to a gateway router?
When standing "5 metres" away is there any obstacles between your device and the router?.
It is possible to have full signal yet be on the very edge of the coverage area. The wifi signal reception will be stronger than the transmission as the router has more power available to it than the phone so the phone will see the router but the router can't pickup the weak signal of the device..
Another possibility is a broken aerial or faulty wifi module.

I've tried all even turn off and remove battery for 2 hours. When I standing 5 metres away there are no obstacles between me and the router (My router is TL-WR4300 with OpenWRT). My S6 and A7 can download at full speed when i'm standing very far so i think it's the phone problem.
I use logcat to see what's problem and it said "cannot lock location". I tested the bluetooth and it works well.
Have you tried the WPS Push Button?
I also flash install a modem Firmware Update via my TWRP.
I'm having trouble uploading but it is easy to find.
It's called "d2vzw_MF1_firmware_NE1_modem.zip".
Just a thought...
