Hey all. I am with att but am considering getting a t mobile V 10 for root purposes. Is it difficult to set up with att? Also I currently have insurance on my att note 3. Is there anyway to get insurance on the t mobile v 10? I know I cant use att insurance just wondering if theres anything else you would suggest. Thanks.
I'm in the same boat

I have a tmobile v10 and using cricket(att) and everything works perfectly. I went through hell to unlock it but since the account was cancelled and paid in full, they granted an early permanent unlock. You can do a temporary unlock which lasts for 30 days. Absolutely no issues to report.

So if I were to buy it how do I unlock it? After unlocking would I call att to activate?
Nope I never called them at all just pop your sim in and put your apn from att. For cricket it is ndo

Sorry I never called at&t for tmobile I had to call like 4 times and they ended up calling the original owner to grant the early unlock. As long as you meet the tmobile unlock terms they will perform an unlock. There is a separate thread on here in the v10 forums dedicated to unlocking the tmobile variant and using on tmobile. Some used prepaid cards and others did what I did and just kept calling until someone expedited the unlock.

I switched and im not sure of the exact speed, but its pretty fast and I have no issues. However, I'm on a ATT Straight Talk sim, not a Tmobile sim. The ATT sims can only be purchased on ebay/amazon. The tombile sims can be purchased directly from straight talk. I'm in Charlotte NC. Give me a mobile testing site, and ill get you exact speed numbers. Only switch if you use less than 1.5gb a month in data. Otherwise your throttled.

Net10 is 1.5gb data too so no need to pay the crazy ebay prices for att st sim. Can get net10 for a buck
Get about 6-8 mps with st att sim in ne florida. Awesome voice coverage to boot!
So just to be clear, if I use a straight Talk Sim I would have to get my phone off contract with ATT?

Correct. As long as you use an ATT SIM from Straight Talk, you can port with no ETF. However if you leave straight talk before your actual ATT contract is up, you will be hit with an ETF.

B/c I did a lot of research and heard that throttling of data is wayyyyyyyy worse at Net10, which is why the Straight Talk sims are so pricey. If you are not a datahog, it is a goldmine.
I have a Straight Talk AT&T SIM for sell that I bought yesterday. Im willing to sell it for $30 and take a $10 hit.
After thinking it over I decided to stay with AT&T

I have a micro sim and a standard sim.
The Micro SIM is 30 and the standard sim is 20 and of course it could be cut down to micro size.

The price is higher for the straight talk att Sims because you can't buy them anymore, not because they are better. Also a difference with net10 is that you can't port a number to net10 like you can straight talk

if there wasnt a demand then sellers couldnt get away with those prices. especially since net10 sims are so much cheaper and easier to come by. from my research, throttling on net10 is more prevalent and strict.

I tried this myself. Used this site for unlocking my HTC One got the code within 30 minutes.
I unlocked my AT&T G2. Received the code in 15 minutes.
$1.70 (DOLLAR AND SEVENTY CENTS) only
http://www.unlockcode247.com/imei/5/15/LG--Instant
http://www.unlockcode247.com/imei/1/40/LG-USA-TMobile--ATampT-Unlock--all-models-
Update: Thanks to "paffinity" for the confirmation. It works and is genuine. This is the email address "[email protected]" of the guy who sent's these unlock codes, he replied to my email yesterday confirming that he can unlock LG G2 AT&T and T-mobile phones. Not sure about Verizon you have to ask him only.
Thanks to"amorek13" confirmed working for t-mobile as well.
I was pretty sure that all Verizon LTE phones are SIM unlocked out of the box. At least my Droid DNA was, and so was my previous Droid Razr.

Tried it on mine (AT&T) and it worked.
I've never done this before and there were no instructions, just the unlock codes, but I found instructions elsewhere.
Dial: 2945#*model number# (800 in case of AT&T G2)
Tap "Network Lock" button.
Enter SIM unlock code. Should tell you successfully unlocked (or something similar).
Wait for it to reboot. Mine got stuck at a blue screen for some reason (thought I bricked it somehow), but rebooting fixed it.

I put a T-mo SIM in my Verizon G2 and it worked... just not very well. Not sure if that was a reflection of T-Mo service in my area though.
The "?" SIM symbol stayed on and it often said Roaming (R) over the service bars. But I was able to use both voice and data up to HSPA+.
I do not see where this can work on a Verizon VS980 phone, or am I missing something????
I'm in Poland with my VZW G2. Don't worry, no sim unlocking is needed. Just popped out the Verizon sim and popped a local one in and everything works great after putting in the correct APN settings. So much cheaper than paying Verizon for global data...

That is normal, you have to go in and manually set the APN to your carrier in the settings.
I did set the APN manually but I couldn't get that ? SIM icon to go away.
Is T-Mobile post paid better than prepaid in terms of signal quality? I live in Phoenix but I was getting really bad cell signal on my prepaid SIM.

works on tmo
I'm on Verizon. Mine came unlocked out of the box. I even called Verizon to confirm.
Tried both services got identical code just as an FYI for others. 1.50 guy came in about 8 minutes, and 8 dollar code came in about 20 minutes...but identical codes and unlocked fine.
I am on AT&T and used the instructions from above no issue.
Cheers

I have for the past few years always bought the phones I wanted from craigslist, I would get an att phone and then root+ custom rom then use on straightalk by setting the APN.
Well when the note 2 came out I really wanted one but couldnt find one under $600 used, so I got on a friends verizon plan and paid $300 for my note 2.
Fast foward a year or so and now she is letting the phones get shut off due to an outstanding balance on it (always paid my part)
So my question is.... will this phone need unlocked to be able to use it on straight talk? Would a root and custom rom be all thats needed or do i need to have it unlocked? I still have my straight talk sim card.
This is my first time dealing with a verizon phone and a situation like this.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Sorry, your current phone might not be eligible for any plan on VZW since she is terminating for outstanding payment. It depends if they block your device from the network or not, go to a Verizon store with your device and explain the situation, I'm sure they would try to retain the business if it is at all possible.

You can use this phone on ATT and Tmobile and any of their MVNO's as well as on Pageplus, selectel and couple others.. So to answer your question NO you are not screwed you still have options..
This phone comes unlocked already no need to install custom rom. but you do need to change the APN's
just pull out the Verizon sim card and pop in the sim card you have and should work but you will have to change the apns for mms and data
Awesome... thanks

hi! I bought a Sprint Note 3 on Ebay. to make a long story short, phone is global. when dialing *#06#, it was giving me a MEID. it has a sim slot even tough it's with sprint witch is a cdma carrier. I called sprint and they give me a 6 digits code, telling me it's the unlock code. after a few research on google and messing around in the phone, I now get a IMEI number after dialing *#06#.
when dialing ##0011#, i see NETWORK: UNBLOCK. the phone work on the same frequncies as my carrier I'm trying to unlock the phone to. but I never found the key pad where to enter the unlock code to actually unlock the phone (supposed to restart the phone with the wrong sim card and a "please enter unlock code" prompt should appear, but not me). I used it to get in the data hidden menu (##3282#), and that it. my sim card does not work, and I'm out of options...
Somebody knows what to do?

My best guess, is what @w7excursion said. Your sim card has not been programmed for your account. Your best bet, would be to take it to Sprint store, that is also a repair facility. You may have to go to more than one, until you find someone competent enough to handle it.

And yea I got it from best buy and had them replace my first one and then I called sprint like a month ago and they stated they had no idea. But if you literally Google those words sprint and note 3 you will see other people are having issues with it. I think sprint is having problems having to depend on a similar card for lte.

You're not the only one with useless data speeds. I'm happy on days when LTE speeds reach 1Mbps, here in the Houston area.
