The title kinda explains it all.
Hold the power button and volume down at the same time.
It only took 0.50 seconds,

Notification Bar "Capture+"
I've tried holding down the volume down and power button, but nothing happened. That's why I came here.

Power button and volume down are the buttons to hold.
You can also try using Capture+ which up can find by bringing the notification bar down. And looking in the tool bar where Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is located.

I just tried both methods and they worked
Simultaneous press of volume down and power button. If you see the volume adjust you're doing it wrong. If you don't see it and you're sure you're pressing both, then you have a legitimate problem.

Is there an app that allows you to reassign the functions of the power button to another key? I am trying to minimize how often I have to use the power button because of the issues several of us are having with the power button.
What are the issues with the power button?
Its hard to describe, its as if the Power Button is moving into the phone it is not sticking out nearly as much as it was when it was new as a result it is becoming tougher to push as it becomes flush with the top of the phone.....

I know what you mean. I came from the Droid X and my first thought when using the Thunderbolt was "WTF at the power button!?" It sits too damn flush with the top of the phone. It took me a good 2-3 days to get used to it. I kept having to look at the top of the phone to get my finger in the right spot.
Anyways... are you rooted? Das BAMF has a feature that allows the volume rockers to be used to wake up the phone. You could then download something like SwitchPro and use a widget to turn to the screen off. Essentially you'd never have to use the power button then.

Yes I am rooted, I have not tried any custom roms yet. I will try SwitchPro and see how that works. Thanks for the info!!!
SwitchPro does not have anything that looks like it would work as a power button, are there any other suggestions?
I use the free version of quick boot and hardly ever use the power button it allows:
reboot
recovery
bootloader
Power off

don't ignore this link because its the only way to get it to wake with the volume rocker buttons
I also downloaded Screen Off to put my device in sleep mode. With these two apps the only time I need to use the power button is when I'm updating ROMs or I need to power on my phone.
Good luck

Simultaneous isnt required dude. Hold down Volume Down Key and immediately after that, hold down power key too till screenshot is taken. But delay b/w Volume Key and power key should be less else you'll get the Volume Indication also in the screenshot
Cheers !
Simply screen shot app can do that

The original Inc had an optical joystick that you could press to wake it up. This phone doesn't have one...any other way to wake it up w/o pressing the power button?

Not yet. I'm sure once it is rooted and all a volume wake key hack will be provided.

Just curious, but what would that accomplish? You'd still be pressing a physical button, and from the reviews the volume button is the mushy one this time, not the power/lock button. Not trying to be a d**k, just wondering what's the advantage of using the volume key over the p/l.
Too bad there isn't a way for something like "shake to wake".

To me nothing. I just use the power button. Some people seem to like it though.
It's long press the on/off button to take a screen shot before I upgrade my phone to 4.1.B.0.431. But now after upgraded to 4.1.B there's no more option for take screen shot when I long press the on/off button. Anyone know how to take a screen shot on 4.1.B.0.431?

It's not working. When I hold on/off + volume down, the volume indicator run all the wat down and turned the phone to silent mode. I tried a few times but the same happen. I tried holding on/off + volume up and on/off + Home button too, but it doesn't help.

It only took less than 1s. If nothing happens after 1s, the try again. It needs to be pushed simultaneously (power + volume up/volume button furthest from the power button).

Theoretically this can also work:
Display the desired screen you want to capture.
Simultaneously press and hold the Home and Recent Apps button for 10 seconds
Screen Capture will briefly display on screen
The captured picture will be stored in the Gallery>Capture
(It works on the Springboard, don't know if it will on rooted versions, I put the ICS of TMob back on my springboard is this method does work along with the one mentioned above)
