Ik it's not the right place but I can't seem to find anything on this so if anyone knows how to get unlimited Wi-Fi tethering with the LGV 10 on T-Mobile's network after root is obtained of course let me know I'm not the only one looking for this I'm sure
This goes under Q & A not in a development section. Please familiarize yourself with the forum rules and also try searching as I am pretty sure this has been asked already.

Yup, it's pretty awesome!
I need mine to play call of duty online as it is my only option compared to sat Internet and sat has WAY to slow of ping times so binge on doesn't really help however my wife loves it for her Netflix lol so need to getaround t mobile knowing if I'm tethering and I can't use a Vpn I don't use a **** ton maybe 50gb a month so I shouldn't ever get looked into as some ppl who do it are rude data hogs using even in the tb range ..... But if anyone knows how PLEASE help me I don't want to go crapple but iOS jailbreak has tether me and it works perfectly also on my galaxy note 3 I had unlimited tethering but i had to change a build file now I'm not a dev so I'm not gonna try to understand what I did or am doing but I am good at fallowing YouTube lol and have cought on to some things on my own

Hi
Some networks in the UK are offering "eat data" plan in otherwords there is no "fair usage policy". I have taken up this plan. To upload videos to YouTube it only works on wifi. Is there a way to make the device to recognise 3G as wifi so that the uploads can be done even on 3g data.
Thanks in advance.
as far as I'm aware, you can't trick your phone into believing 3G is WiFi unless you put your SIM into another android phone and then used the wireless tethering function to upload the video off the first phone...if that makes sense

Hi thanks for the suggestion. It should work if the other phone can tether. When I was using iPhone I used an application "3G Unrestrictor" which trick the phone to treat 3G as wifi. If someone can make a tiny app for SGS II (for android in general) it will help our community....

+1 to that, it'd be a great little app, there might already be one I've just never heard of it. If not tethering with your SIM in a second device/Mi-Fi router is the only way I'm afraid...

Let us keep an eye on the other discussion as well.
I am waking up this thread. Anyone having any solutions found.

As a result of the hurricane that hit NJ looks like im going to be with out power for the next few days. I'm running on a generator now, but I have never used tethering on my phone because I didn't want to get charged by verizon. I'm rooted on ED05 and was wondering if I use an app from the market that isn't VZW's tethering app will they notice and just automatically charge me? Or Can I get away with tethering to my laptop and not getting charged.

As long as your not downloading hd movies e something else that takes huge amounts of data I think you'll be fine...i'm sure someone will chime in and tell you tethering is stealing but if your just doing light browsing or have to view something important like e mail or whatever...you won't have a problem, but I have heard they were trying to stop tethering or at lay catch people doing it on the latest ed05 update but I don't know if that's just a rumor? I have a tethering App on my phone and I have uses it twice just to see how well it worked but I haven't used it enough to tell you for sure if they will know if you're doing it or not...I would imagine if you don't go over your data cap you would be fine...idk?

I got this phone almost a week ago and loving it so far. My only problem is the hotspot. I did the sqlite hack where you disable verizon from making you pay for it. When i enable hotspot (the default program or even foxfi) i can get a connection maybe for 10 minutes then the connection gets messed up. It's like limited access and then i have to restart the hotspot and hope it fixed the problem. Anyone else getting this problem or know how to fix it? Would really appreciate it.
Bump to the top
A Co-Worker has the Razr Maxx and has Hot Spot issues with Connections on the standard app in which VZW charges. My guess its a Moto thing.
I pay the $30 a month for hotspot. I also have unlimited data and use it as my sole source of internet. Mine is rock solid. I will have my PC, laptop, Xbox, and tablet all connected. I watch Netflix, download torrents, everything. I never have any issues. I had major issues with my old HTC Thunderbolt after about 6 months of using it that way but not with the RAZR MAXX.
One tip I can give you is the phone can get really hot; I have a desktop tower with a "blowhole" fan on top. I always put my phone right over that fan so it stays very cool. If you are going to crank data through the phone you really need to figure out some kind of cooling option. I think that might have been what happened to my Thunderbolt. It got so hot and repeatedly so that it damaged it a bit and then had problems after that.
This happens to me all the time, I have asked Verizon about it, and keep getting the run around. The hotspot keeps working, the data connection seems to drop.

I'm so jealous!!! I did the root and hacked the phone to get free thether. It works for others but not for me . I really do love the hotspot but it just gets on my nerves to have to dissconect/not-working after 5 min. I just wish the hotspot was free.... just verizon trying to milk money out of you.

I also used the sql hack and I never got this. The only think I can suggest is re-setup you network.. :/
This worked for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520224
using the android-wifi-tether app
FoxFi and Android tether both work great for me.
I have never had to pay anything extra.
I dont go crazy I just use it when I need it.
---------- Post added at 09:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:16 PM ----------
I used them both on my rooted charge.
And I used FoxFi on my wifes unrooted Samsung Fascinate.
My friend has been using FoxFi on his new unrooted Maxx XT912
and I just rooted my XT912, but I dont expect to have any problems.
I never have before.
Maybe its because I use more data on my phone than tethered like 10 to 1.

THANK YOU! now i can abuse my hotspot \
PPL heres what i did.
Just follow this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tLyjsufOLs
your going to want to move the STOCK Mobile hotspot app that verizon gives you. Once you move it it shouldn't be under your apps anymore. After go here and download code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether
Now you should be able to hotspot no problems.
THANKS GUYS FOR THE HELP!!! REALLY DO APPRECIATE IT!
Offtopic post, but here is gos: I unpluged my razr at about 10:30, but did not use it intill 11:30 to make a call and they did not pick up so it did not last long. I then went to work and took a brake at 4:30 and the phone flashed the green light at me. I could not charge it with car charger, but could get the stock one at home to do it.(what does the green light meen any way.)
Do I have a bad phone? will it die? why did it only last less than 5H?
Thanks

im guessing the notification led??? So if you get an email or text it flashes green (what im thinking)
it flashed the green led every time I tryed to turn it on. I just have this fealing the phone will die, becuase a lot of tech thing's have "signs" of death. My laptop is starting now, becuase it's turning 4 years old and I have used it fair bit.( It's a gaming laptop or I should say thats the #1 use.)
i asked a verizon store rep and he had no idea.
Can Verizon track how much data you are using when using the android wifi tether app??
basically my mother has developed a extremely terrible seizure disorder and needs eyes and ears on her even when she is just setting in the living room watching television. My father is there to be those eyes and ears but since that consumes most of his time he no longer gets to go to his upstairs workroom and build his radio controlled quadcopters which seems to be the only hobby he still has or enjoys so to speak. I'm looking to get some suggestions on a good app to view the camera of one android phone from another android phone so that either while he is up in the room he has the ability to see and hear her aeither at the touch of a button or widget. I'm searching for something somewhat parent friendly to set up (not to complicated) as all I can do is call and give him the name of it. if anyone has any suggestions on something that might fit the description of this situation please leave a reply with your opinion. thanks for anyone's time, Robert

Two Smartphone = Baby Phone (Baby Monitor, Baby Alarm), also Windows XP/Vista/7
Connect two android phones and/or Windows XP/Vista/7 devices to a mobile baby phone (baby monitor / baby alarm). One device is the sender and placed near the baby. The other device is the receiver taken along. The two devices connect with one another over the internet resulting in a virtually unrestricted transmission range as long as an internet connection is available.

I very much appreciate your reply as I feel this all I can do to help my parents out in there current situation. I am really hoping that the app works without a wifi network because they also do not have Internet from there ISP, they only have basic cable. I very much thank you for your reply and I'll definitely call my dad and tell him to try that app out. Thank you once again.
I told my father about the app and he attempted to set it up but said it wouldn't work without the licence, atleast on one of his phones. does anyone know of a similar app that might be easy to set up and doesn't require wifi home network? it can be paid or free, he just can't do in app purchases on his setup, but he can buy them outright if they happen to be paid and not free. thanks

So, I love blitz brigade, but you can only play on wifi. I have tried the text file, bit it doesn't allow for online play. Anyone know of a way to force it, or a way to tweak the app to allow play over 4g? Thanks

There are a few ways I saw years ago when doing a Google search for the exact same thing but I'll be damned if I can remember them, maybe you should try a Google search if you haven't already cause that's how I found it years ago.

Did you figured out this for Blitz Brigade yet?
No guy, I havent. I beat my head against the wall, and switchex to games that would work on 4g. Wish I could be more help.
It's crazy that this app doesn't exist but maybe it's not possible with android. I had an app called 3g unrestrictor in my old iPhone cydia days. I just tried using an xfinity play app to watch videos and it only works over wifi. Absurd. Here's to hoping someone develops this.
And hopefully someone creates an app that will trick apps into thinking there is no internet connection. My modded asphalt 8 doesnt work unless I put my phone on airplane mode and/or turn off wifi and 4g.
probably wont happen

No, it's just a firewall for Android that blocks apps from the internet.
any solutions to this?
I want to play games that require wifi on my data connection,as i do not have wifi
I know this isn't exactly what you're talking about.
But when I was on t mo unlimited I use to carry a mobile
Hot spot that I got for 15 dollars on eBay and I would put my sim in it when I encountered this problem. You could probably use another phone with WiFi the same way.
It would be a little complex to swap WiFi and network connections.
