I am noticing that the icon for the default video player is not showing in my app drawer. I can see the app settings and I can open up the app if I open up a video file but the icon does not show. How can I get this icon to reappear? My device is only a few days old and I have not made any system changes on the device.
I don't believe there is an video app that will show in the app drawer.

Does anyone show an icon for the default LG video player?

No icon present (Verizon version)
I don't think there ever was a Video icon. I never saw it on the G2 nor the G4.

There is one way to see it. Pull down task bar and scroll over to qslide. Once open, choose video as one of the qslide quick launch apps. Then it'll pop up as a smaller, adjustable app atop your main screen/app. Kinda neat.
I go to the Gallery to play the videos.
...
I suppose if you're rooted you could change a value to show this in the drawer?

Since there isn't one, what do you recommend? I haven't seem any good ones in the market, and there's too many to search through them all.
I'm a big fan if mixzing. Chris Soyars also has an amazing one for cm6 assuming that gets ported soon.
Pure Music Widget. Is nice, many different sizes and skinnable.
I will check those out, but I ended up just porting over the music apk from CM5 and installing that

Stock 2.1 Music Player with widget.
While the Samsung Music player app doesn't have a widget, it might have something better - if you're playing music you can control the app even if the screen is locked. When you're screen is locked you'll see a little down arrow that you can drag down to show your music controls.
DoubleTwist also has a decent widget.

Not only that, you have your music controls from the notification bar. I don't miss the music widget one bit with these 2 options

I third the preloaded music app. Why do you need a widget that's always on the home screen taking up space and resources whether your listening to music or not when you can have controls hidden in the notification bar that only show up when you're actually listening to music?

Are the notification bar controls tied to the TouchWiz interface or can you use any home screen customizer, as long as you use the Sammy player, and still get the notification bar controls?

Its part of the Samsung Music app, not the launcher, so you can use it with any Launcher
The notification bar and lock screen players remain in place if you use a 3rd party home screen (ADW, Launcher Pro), so long as your using Samsung's excellent player.
I don't like Samsung's music player. I don't like that when I pick an artist, it opens all albums. I like the stock music players way of showing the albums, then opens just that album when you touch it. I don't want to play the entire discography when I just want one album. I know there is an "Album" category, but I like my music by artist -> album, not just album.
If that's not too confusing to understand lol
I love the music controls in my notification bar when using the Samsung player, but if I get a handscent pop up message from a text it gongs that music player right out of the notification bar. Sometimes if I go back to the music app its still there paused, but sometimes not. Kind of annoying, anyone else noticing this?
Edit: Reboot seems to have fixed this now, sorry should have tried that before posting.
I use bTunes because it actually keeps my playlists when transferred over wifi from iTunes on my PC (with tunesync). I'd like to use the stock player but it only shows all the songs/artists/albums...no itunes playlists
I found out that Lithium player is one of the best out there so far.
Great Music effects also!

If you click artists, then on the artist, it will still show each album, it just shows them in a list as opposed to icons for each album.
I have a GP 4.2 and want to know how I can change the Internet App on the Homescreen below the dots for changing screen pages?
I am really liking my first android more than my itouch but I DDID like changing the default homescreen apps on the iTouch. I changed the default Media Players and Web browser on it.
I would like to change the default Internet icon to launch a better web browser. For that matter I would change the Video player to launch something else as well.
Thanks.
Open your app drawer press menu -> edit and drag and drop icons to your dock and rearrange your app drawer how you wish

Thanks. That was easy! Can you recommend a good "Beginners book that might cover things like this (It was NOT in the docs that came with my unit.)
Now my last complaint with Android is finding a good replacement for the Audio player that has navigation similar to an iphone wher eI can navigate albums in and out like folders instead of everything being in just a really looooooong list!
Thanks again.
Personally i have my 2500+ song uploaded to google play music, its a great cloud music player. And i dont know of an in- depth guide to android mainly because i just figured it out as i went, i bricked my player within the first 2 days of having it so i had to get good, fast. Just lurk a bit, youll get the hang of it.

Personally use player pro for my music for quality and album art customization. Easy to navigate.
Here is a good guide for you to look at as well.

I personally have always liked Quickpic vs pure android gallery and Xperia gallery when i had my Arc S. but since i've had the 4.1.2 Gallery on my S3, ive loved the different view options, the speed has been great. I cant see myself having a need to use Quickpic again.
Anyone sitll using Quickpic? if so, why?
Because it will not let me hide albums like quickpic. Change to view only on device but does not save that setting

And Quickpic works extremely fast with quality previews, unlike the blurry images on the the stock SGS3 gallery!

Agreed with the option not saving but i definitely dislike my facebook / picasa pics in my gallery, so i remove them from syncing.
I like the logical sorting option.

Exclude albums from being scanned
Hide albums
Fast even with high quality images
Loads much quicker
The thing that really put me off the stock gallery though was how long it took to generate an image after I took a photo. I'd snap an image, click on the preview button and would normally be greeted by a loading screen that would take roughly 2 seconds. If I use another camera app then hit the preview button and set it to open with QuickPic, the image is there IMMEDIATELY. It's not the fact that 2 seconds is a long time to wait, its the fact that other apps can do it quicker. I'm on CM10.1 and have no need for QuickPic. Gallery is smooth and images are accessible immediately, no loading times or black screens
Edit: found a much simpler way, feel silly now. Just open app drawer, move from dock to app drawer, then add any app you want to dock.
So I've been stumped on this since I got my One. Just stumbled into this solution. Stock unrooted 4.1.2 T-Mobile HTC One. Here's what I did.
To replace the browser icon with Chrome:
Go to Settings, Apps, All Apps, go to the stock browser (Internet), select Disable. Check to ensure it has disappeared from the dock bar. Open the launcher drawer, long press Chrome as if to add to a home screen, then put it in the empty space where the stock browser was before.
Voila.
If you want, you can enable the stock browser again.
The only thing I've noticed so far is that this caused Chrome to actually disappear from my app drawer. Strange, but I'm happy with it in the dock.
Hope this helps anyone like me.

thanks for sharing your ideas.
the way to change the dock icons are to hold down app icon in drawer and drag down, to remove do the opposite drag icon up out of dock into app drawer... much easier than disabling apps and yes it does make it disappear from app drawer however it seems on the home screens if you drag an icon up from the dock it clones it if you want the icon somewhere else too

Hello. I changed my dpi from 480 to 360. But my lockscreen widgets are messed up. It works okay on 320 or 480. It doesn't show the date or the music controls. Is there any where I can configure this? I don't know what I can do.. I've tried searching but nothing. See pics
left pics are what's wrong with dpi at 360.
Right is what I want it to look like.

Huh, so 360 causes some issues on Z2 too - since my old N5 had problems with Google Play Music + notifications. Try 361, which is what I currently use and it displays the music widget correctly + the clock too.
Mind you, at 361 DPI, you won't see the music controls - just the name of the song + album picture. To see the controls, you'll just have to expand the widget, or just simply force it in the Settings (always expand).

Yes but when they're expanded i can't unlock it. There has to be some setting in /~ to force it to use the smaller widget. Does anybody have any idea?
