Recently received a wireless charging (with NFC) sticker from YooTech. Installed it easily and it works great... but at night, I leave it charging beside my bed and the phone beeps randomly all through the night! Anyone else seeing this? Any ideas how to fix? I have the Verizon model so rooting is not an option... yet! Thanks for any ideas!
If the alignment between the charging plate and back is not set up properly, it will go in and out of charging. Make sure it's aligned properly.

Will make sure of that tonight. Thanks. Any ideas to stop the charging notification when it starts, stops or reaches full charge?

If you're rooted, there may be some mods through xposed to turn off those sounds.
Or, again if you're rooted, you can explore the system files, find the sound that corresponds to it, and rename it so Android can't find and play it.

Thanks! but I have a Verizon model, so rooting is not an option... yet!
If you are rooted you can go to where the sound files are (/system/media/audio/ui/) and change WirelessChargingStarted.ogg to something else.
When I do this I rename the original to *_orig.ogg just to keep it around in case I want it.
Then I copy SilentRing.ogg and rename it to the sound I want off.
I've done this for the start up noise as well as the noise you get when you plug in the charging cable.
Yeah, that's how it is. Some phones beep a lot more/louder than others. My Note 4 beeped like crazy. The V10 with the LG CPR-120 wireless charging back is silent.

Hey anyone not getting a notifcation sound upon charge complete with the ICS LPQ? It's pretty annoying as I don't like to leave my phone overcharging the sound used to be very loud and beepy.
Mine vibrates at 100%, won't try it until I have to charge my phone again tonight but maybe if you uncheck the vibrate & ring option in the settings this might solve the problem.
I've never used vibrate only regular ringer and it made a noise when it not was done charging I don't know what to do to get it back now.
This is a serious issue no one is having the same problem? Yesterday I left my phone charging for 10 hours because I forgot about it! I need my beepy full charge sound.

No, he wants the notification sound. He doesn't want it removed.:what:
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Mine has stopped doing it too, so it looks like they've removed it - still get the icon in the notification bar that it's full though
Personally I'm glad it's gone - used to hate it going off just as I was going to sleep, plus the battery pack/case thing that Samsung sell can now be used without the sound continually going off as it reaches 100% during use
Yes mine used to beep before ICS, although it still vibrates to let me know it's completed charging.

How can I see, someone is liked when battery notification wake up you on 2 am
First time I hear about somebody liking that bloody battery chirp and yes, it's gone in ICS builds. There is no explicit setting to enable/disable the battery charge notification, as it's triggered by the framework (at least that's how it was in Gingerbread).
You could try decompiling SystemUI and adding a notification trigger in addFullChargeNotification ... but it's much more trouble than it's worth. Plus, Samsung probably had a valid reason to remove it.
Oh wow I'm very sad to see this go. The sound is good for me because I charge my phone during the day time while I'm doing stuff on my PC and if I start watching movies or games and the beep doesn't go off I might leave it plugged in for a long time.
I'm not sure about decompiling and stuff is anyone able to do this for me? I'd be very grateful!
Well, it's much easier removing stuff than adding it, unfortunately. If it makes you feel better, it doesn't hurt at all to leave your phone plugged in even after it's charged; the battery management routines will let it discharge up to 90-92% and recharge it again when it's full in order to preserve the battery's condition.
The disconnect notification is mostly there due to environmental laws being pushed for energy conservation, so you don't leave your charger plugged in
BTW, Battery Monitor Widget has the option to notify you when the battery is charged. Pro version is well worth the money IMHO.
I confirm that it's still not fixed in LP3. I also miss the sound very much. What I Donny follow is that the sound is still present in three system/media/audio/ui - indicating this could be an overlook? I'd much rather the notification was played by TouchWiz, vibration sends useless to me.Also as pointed out, it makes sense to leave the notification since for those who don't like it, there are options like charging in silent mode or completely removing the sound, while the other way round us not easy.
If Samsung doesn't add this back, the easiest way to fix this would be through an app. I might write one someday... When I get some free time.
Hi, I have a wi-fi Flyer (16GB) and I am on stock GB 2.3.4
I did root it and got clockwork and all is fine.
I am having problems with sound though, if I select Fast Boot under "Power" settings" tablet starts fast, but there is no sound on built in speaker while headphone jack works fine.
If I uncheck Fast Boot all is ok, but tablet takes long time to boot up which is annoying.
Can someone give me a solution to this issue as I don't know where else to turn for help.
I really like android 2.3.4 as I hear if I move to Honey Comb I cant use my SD card anymore.
Thanks in advance.
Hmm, that's odd. I haven't heard that one before. Have you tried a factory reset?
Can't think of any other ideas, except that.

Hubba-whaaaat? I've never heard any such thing. I think people have trouble maintaining GPS lock, is the only pervasive HC bug I've heard of. Also some feel HC is laggy compared to GB. But my belief is that a lot of that lag was caused by people updating via OTA and keeping their user data. I did a clean install (globatron's method) and the performance is comparable to GB.
Those are the only reasons I can think of to stay on GB.
Thanks for reply redpoint73,I really wouldn't like to do factory reset, but I will do it if no one else heard of this as that means its something on my end.
When I rooted it and did a clockwork on it I did make a backup and I did restore to it yesterday hoping it will fix it.
When I made original backup all was well so it does make sense that something collected along the way did this. Your suggestion seems valid, but I will wait just in case someone has a solution to this.
Thanks again man
So I went and did the factory restore and car dock would auto-start for no reason. I think I had it disabled before so I never noticed that its auto-starting by itself. ( thus no sound from tablet speaker as it thought its docked)
I went ahead and installed a custom rom (FlyHigh) and it's doing the same thing.
Refined symptoms/findings:
This tablet seems to have an issue with charging port and thinks its docked ( does it dock through charging port?)
Tablet charges fine but sometimes it will not give multi option upon connecting to a PC. (this might be also due the fact that I am using HTC Sensation data cable).
Please if anyone has an idea what I am saying let me know.
Thanks.
Yes, it docks through the charge/sync port. That would make sense, considering the symptoms (sound issue, car dock screen, and sync issue). Seems like the port is damaged, such as the pins bent, port becoming loose from the board, etc. The fact the problem persists after factory reset and different ROM reinforces the theory that its a hardware issue. But its odd that turning fast boot off/on made a difference (is that still the case?).
Data cable doesn't matter. I've used my Flyer countless times with an HTC phone sync cable, and generic MicroUSB cables, and those work just fine.
Any evidence of damage if you look in the port?
There are apps on the Market to disable the car dock screen, as well as reroute the sound, that might help you workaround the problem, if you don't find a real solution.
Hey man, thanks for reply.
When there is no sound I have to disable fast boot and do a reboot, then sound comes back. (rebooting with fast boot on will not bring sound back)
If I use tablet without fast boot it does same thing, sometimes within an hour sometimes almost a day.
( no clue why, but if I leave car docking on auto start when docked it comes on screen and that's when sound goes away)
If I could find away to disable car docking completely that would be my solution as I also am suspecting on that connector.
Things that I observed on power connector: I plug it to charge (not usb) and look at light that indicates charging. I slowly wiggle cable to see will that light turn off, but no; it stays lit. Looking at the charging port it looks fine visually.
Any idea how to disable car docking or uninstall it?
I am now on "FlyHighROM-v1.2" which is GB 2.3.4
Thanks again.
There are Market apps that should be able to disable the car dock app:
Disable Car Home
Car Mode Off
No Dock
(probably others)

I will try them and report back in few days.

Ok I tried couple and no joy.
I even tried running it with disabled fast boot, but while watching my daughter play rayman sound just went off.
What would happen if I somehow delete that car dock service? whats its name? and what is the best way to try that?
Too bad. Think I've heard of one of those apps disabling car dock on one of my HTC devices (maybe my One X), so thought it might work on the Flyer as well.
Freezing with Titanium Backup is my preferred method to disable apps, as you can easily unfreeze if disabling it causes issues. Don't know what the app/apk is named.

Since installing the GDR3 preview my phone does some really strange things when sitting on the wireless charger. It's gotten so bad lately that I have to put it in vibrate mode at night to keep from waking me.
When I first set it on the charging plate, it wakes up and dings just like it always has. However, a short time after, it will start doing that same thing over and over again. The last few days I'll take a look at it when I get up in the morning and it's got multiple apps running. This morning it was the Pro camera and picture apps. Yesterday it was Facebook and email. The day before that it was multiple settings pages...
Weirdness abounds!
Anyone else experiencing this?

When you put it on the charger place it so that the bottom end where the speakers are line up with the edge of the charger where the LED is. Also make sure it is centered from side to side. The last update turned down the sensitivity of the NFC system which is what the charger and phone use to talk with each other. If it is not lined up just right the phone does not think it is on the charger correctly and is warning you. It also apparently will chime now when it reaches full charge. I have not found out how to turn that feature off. I assume you can't. I think this is limited to the AT&T release of Amber only.

Interesting...I have noticed that it doesn't do it on the charging plate I have in my office, only at home. Of course, I have a Fatboy charging pillow and if MS did make the signal weaker, then that may explain it. I'm going to pull the charging plate (standard Nokia) out of the Fatboy and try it tonight.
I'll report back, thanks.

But you are not running the official AT&T Amber update that was sent to our phones OTA. As I said I think this is just AT&T adding their usual BS to a ROM to make it theirs.
i'm also running GDR3 on my 920, but i've got this "problem" from the beginning with one of my chargers...
interesting, where did you get that information about the weaker NFC singal? And are you shure, it does'nt work the other way around? (that the charger sends the signal/power to activate the NFC chip/tag on the phone?! seems to make much more sense to me)
What wireless charger model? Some of wireless charger has NFC inside and can use it to launch the app.

Both are DT-900. Thinking about trying one of those models from eBay since they're larger than the Nokia.

I know there are threads for the m8 but they are a little older. Is there a fix for the icon in the status bar yet? My phone hasn't been exposed to water and I've never had headphones plugged in yet I get this icon that keeps me in headphone mode. I'm new to the site so if I'm in the wrong section I didn't mean to. I couldn't find anywhere else to put this. Thanks in advance

Seems like it's a random HTC thing. Sometimes it's from moisture, sometimes just an odd glitch. Doesn't seem to be a fix that works for everyone. Sometimes it helps to drain the battery completely, then charge it up completely and turn it on. Sometimes it helps to plug in headphones and unplug repeatedly quickly like 10 times.
Do the loud speakers still work while the headphone icon displays?

They do not work. I have to use sound about as a temporary fix. It's not a huge problem now but the icon is becoming a nuisance because I know my phone that I just paid $500 is looking back at me with an obvious flaw. Also, thanks for the reply
Anyone have anything to report yet?
Not a major issue yet!
I got a bad pixel, the I am waiting on to return for. No root, rom, or lollipop..... other than all that, so far so good.

Seems a little slow with cellular data at times.
Just random force reboots. I'm sure it's all because of the bloatware and hopefully Lollipop will fix it.
Some times mms message get stuck at unable to download, have to reboot to resolve
Not a single issue, forced reboot, glitch, or lag since day one for me.
Few problems
Stamina mode causing texts to send late or freeze, SMS and MMS.
On stock messaging notification mark as read button doesn't respond, must be tapped twice.
With Hangouts dialer installed and u choose to call from Maps or other apps the default choice doesn't stick, it asks which dialer every time over and over, had to uninstall hangouts dialer very annoying that your choice isn't saved.
Battery takes forever to charge, from 0-100 it took 3 1/2 to 4 hours. That's horrible.
1 freeze where the screen stayed black and could not reboot, had to remove Sim card to fix.
Slow on data at times, not as good signal as Samsung or Motorola.
On YouTube no option for 1080p, 720p is highest, Z2 had 1080 option. If you disagree and before you comment try these out yourself and tell me if you're having the same problems.
I'm a little disappointed in the charging rate as well. I had read a handful of spec sheets that listed this as having something similar to quick charge. Having had the droid turbo and Note 4 I loved this setup. I know I didn't have the same feature verbatim but it did have some kind of fast charge feature mentioned. I thought it might be due to not having the correct cord similar issue with the one M8 but, a msg pops up at 90% on my wifes note 4 charger telling me its incompatible with that charger.

If it freezes again just push the small button in the SIM card area, just bellow the SIM card, will reboot.
When in navigation GPS Icon clogs notification area...Why Verizon why? All other variants put it next to 4g signal and not as a notification. Verizon sure knows how to mess up a good phone, there's no compatibility to Sony PC companion either...Verizon's doing...
Having an issue with a boot loop since Verizon update
I got the update from Verizon, it threw my phone into a boot loop. I let it run for like a half hour with no luck. During my entire ordeal, it would usually only make it to the Sony wave screen. It would make it to the Verizon screen on occasion, but would always loop back to the beginning. I would get two vibrations followed by a red notification light. I figured out the button combination for recovery mode. I tried to boot into Safe Mode. It once again went into a boot loop. I put it back into recovery mode and did a factory reset. It did the reset and went directly into a boot loop again. I ended up doing three factory resets in a row to see if it was an issue with the factory reset process. After three resets and a half hour boot loop, it did fully boot up. I went through the entire setup process, emails, wifi, bt, widgets, apps. During that process, it did a force reboot and went back into a boot loop. I went through the entire process listed above again. Safe Mode and three Factory Resets. I have once again gone through the setup process once again with no force reboot...yet. This could happen at any point any this is getting pretty aggravating. Any suggestions?
Bad unit
I think I had bad hardware on mine. I was experienceing randon screen freezes, that forced reboot. Got it replaced and new one is flawless so far.
Urgent: Stuck
Looks like I'm currently experiencing a problem. I was playing Asphalt 8, and as I was exiting the game, the phone froze. I hold the power button, and it just rings my text message ringtone. I hold the camera shutter, it plays the camera sound, but same screen. I call it, it will play my ringtone but I can't answer it.
With a day's worth of battery life, I can't just wait for it to die. What do I do??
EDIT: So what I had to do with a last resort is access my phone with Google Android Device Manager and erase my phone and factory reset. I hope to never experience this again. If only this was a Samsung, removing the battery and putting it back is the easiest hard reset to do. :\
I believe that there is a button inside the sim compartment that simulates a battery pull.

Yeah that's my only gripe with this phone. I have no issues. I came from a nexus 5 on ATT. Didn't get ATT in my new house. Glad I made the jump. I charge this phone with my old nexus wireless charger and the thing takes forever to charge.
You're complaining about a limitation of qi charging, not this phone. Compare the output limits of a qi charger and the power block to your phone. If you want the phone to charge faster, it will always be faster with a wire than wireless.

Trust me I knew that already. My nexus 5 did the same thing. I just like the wireless charger in my room. Just easier to grab when you grab the phone in mid sleep. Lol
I do agree with the convenience of qi charging. I just didn't want someone to think that qi would do rapid charging of some sort.
