I Have tried to install G925FXXU3QOK9 to have voLTE on my phone ... But it has bricked my phone. The intallation with odin failed.
I have all lost and i don't know how I tried, but after 2 hours to try to reinstall my last firmware OH9, it was ok...
But after this, I Try again and impossible... FAIL on ODIN...
I'm rooted and I Have TWRP.
Do you think Samsung made something that is forbidden to install new update???
THANK YOU...
I Would like new update for voLTE.... And I can't...
Do you think I could Flash the new update from Nordic Countries which includes the voLTE? and is it ok for FRANCE (my carrier accepts voLTE).
Thank you

The country of the firmware doesn't matter, as long as the firmware is for your device model.

A lot of people including myself have the problem with 2.1 where we cant send text messages longer than a single text.
But it says here that vodafone have worked with SE to fix the issue and have released an updated 2.1 firmware.
Is this firmware available yet for flashing? if it is where can i download it?
It tells you in the link you posted. Update/Repair using PC Companion.
But i have a rooted and unbranded phone with the nordic firmware. If i was to try and update i'd imagine PCC would not detect a vodafone firmware and not update to it... or that would not matter if SE have fixed all firmwares and not just done a vodafone fix, does anyone know? would PCC even work correctly with a flashed phone?

Sorry, from your OP it sounded like you were on vodaphone firmware already. The easiest way to flash it back to vodaphone is by the CDA change method as you are rooted.
see here:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824711
you will need to change the codes to 1234-4579
Although as you were having problems with it on nordic firmware it would say to me that its not a firmware issue, more likely a network one but i'm no expert.
also, probably worth you keeping an eye on this thread, and PM Jeff-SEAnswers ...

Thanks mate
I dont think it's a network issue because other people have the same problem on all kinds of networks and in different countries.
I have a vodafone SIM but i've always had a unlocked/unbranded phone... what would happen if i tried to use PCC to put the new firmware on my phone without flashing back to my phones original firmware? and are all UK firmwares the same or would this one with the fix be specifically for vodafone?

Using the above method I linked to would install the newest Vodafone firmware (ie. The 'fixed' one in your link). It doesn't matter what firmware you are currently on. No, all UK firmwares are different, some will come with provider settings preinstalled, specific apps or features enabled/disabled depending on network. If you don't want to go back to branded try flashing to generic UK 2.1 using flash tool, thats what i'm on and I never had any text problems.
Think i'll just try flashing to the firmware you use and see if that fixes it... could you link me to the UK firmware you used? Cheers again!

just put the files in the 'firmware' folder of flashtool then run it.
Hello!
I've searched many threads with usefull information through XDA forums, but some say that it is absolutely necessary that the phone should be unlocked, some say I cam update firmware even if it is unlocked.
I don't want to brick the phone, that's why I'm asking again...so, please, tell me which option should I choose.
Thank you in advance...
Your phone doesn't need to be unlocked to update the firmware
as above, the phone doesn't need to be unlocked.
However, if your phone is using branded carrier firmware, you can not update to a newer generic firmware and must wait for your carrier to release the updated version.
If your phone is running generic firmware, then you can just update to newer generic firmware no probs.

Thanks! You mean that if my phone is on Vodafone RO, I can upgrade only with a Vodafone RO firmware?! If I try to put a non-branded firmware will not work?

Hello.
Me too I am curious about changing my firmware.
My phone is carrier locked. But I want to use a non branded firmware.
Did you tried? It is possible without bricking my phone?
After flashing a non branded firmware I will be able to use SIM cards from other carriers?
THX.
Hey guys, I am new to the S3 and Andriod as I used to be an iPhone user before. I bought a GT-i9300 from Hong Kong and brought it back to Canada and cant seem to get any software updates. I am currently sitting at build number I9300ZSALG3, just wondering if anyone could help me out doing an OTA update or via Kies or if this is the latest version. My baseband version is I9300XXLG3

Your firmware is from Taiwan..and for it the latest version is what you are currently using..however you dont need to wait for updates you can download firmware for United Kingdom the latest is I9300XXBLG8..you can download it from here..
http://samsung-updates.com/get/58/Samsung_Firmware_GT-I9300_BTU_I9300XXBLG8_Android_4_0_4.html
then flash it via odin...search these threads for the method to do so..
Hi man, Unlike iphone, offical rom is always the worst one.It usually uses more memory and have bad battery management. You can try another rom such as mike's.
Sent from my lovely GT-I9300,by the way,I'm a Chinese!Glad to communicate with you

Thank you! I am not too familiar with flashing with Android again because it is something new and if anything were to happen I wouldn't know how to fix it since I have been an iPhone user. Is flashing firmware any different from jailbreaking the iPhone? - in terms of being safer. Also, how can I be 100% sure that the UK version will work on my phone as well as keep my unlock.

Flashing the firmware is 100% safe if you follow the steps..it does not root your phone so it is not jailbreaking...so you will also not loose your warranty...
the firmwares are almost the same for every region, samsung being an a***le released different firmwares for different regions with different CSC....
but i am quite sure it will work on you region as you are already using Taiwan firmware in Canada...in any case download the Taiwan specific firmware also..so if anything goes wrong you can revert back...
by the way I am in India using BTU firmware..
Me too...
Along the same lines, I have an I-9300 sgs3 with South Africa firmware (XFE), i9300xxale9, but I'm using it in the United States, on AT&T, and am not able to receive updates thru either Kies or Update menu. I will NOT be traveling outside the US anytime soon. What should I load that would let me receive updates here in the States OTA?
Hello guys, i Recently bought an at&t Alpha G850A used phone in Pakistand. Everything is perfect except its not updating when i go to about device section BUILD NUMBER is KTU84P.G850AUCU1ANH8 Whereas at&t has released an update for this phone which is BUILD NUMBER G850AUCU1ANL1. When i try to update it searches for the update for some time and then says update interrupted there is no new update for your device try again in 24 hours.
Q1) Is it because i am using it on MOBILINK NETWORK (Its a local network in pakistan) ? do i have to be on at&t sim to update?
Q2) Is there anyway i can update it manually?
*note i have already tried updating after factory reset.
Any help will be appreciated.

Try to update it via Kies or download it from http://sammobile.com and flash it via ODIN. Are you connected to any wi-fi network when you try to download the firmware or just cellular data?

I have tried Kies it says this is the latest software available whereas i know it is not.
2) I have tried both, wifi and cellular.
There are no firmwares for ALPHA SM-G850A on sam mobile........at&t variant has TERRIBLE support and no root yet. There was a guy who posted a possible root exploit here but nobody bothered so my guess is this device will soon be joining the list of those phones who were never rooted.

Just a ideea....why don`t u flash the phone with SM-G850F firmware?
is it safe to do so? woudnt it brick the phone as the processors are different
Do not flash 850F firmware on 850A, there is too much diference between hardware in those phones. You will brick your phone!
Your phone is similar to :
SM-G850W for Canada
SM-G8508S for East & Southeast Asia
So maybe you can try to find can you flash software for those models...
Can anyone please confirm if i can flash the firmwares of SM-G850W for Canada or SM-G8508S on SM-G850A ?

Hi Everyone,
Can anyone help me with process for flashing UK version firmware of XQ-BC52 on Taiwan version of XQ-BC72. I need to know which firmware files such as ".ta" or any other files to be removed from firmware folder before flashing. The UK or US customization versions supports volte and Wifi calling in my country.
Currently the Taiwan firmware version is at 61.0.A.23.20 (android 11) and UK firmware version is at 61.1.A.2.211 (android 12)
Can I just flash the .oem files of UK firmware to TW firmware?. But, since device firmware versions are different, flashing may fail and corrupt the device. Can you confirm if this is safe to flash?.
Request your help!

I think yes but r u sure that customized UK fw supports voLTE and WIFI calling? the switches are in the settings? because I have the same model but with eea customized and have no volte or/and vowifi switches.... My carrier supports them btw
I've been told the customised SEA also has Volte and VoWifi wnabled, but I never got any joy out of it when I flashed it into my HK BC72 device. I have tried the previous firmware revision of the UK one, but nothing there either.

So if I flash it to my XQ-BC52 will it affect anything? I don't want to lose anything, but I want to use volte I have no idea why it isn't enabled when all of the carriers on my country support it
I would first update it to the newest TW Firmware and check if it works (so you can update, without loosing personal data).
If it still doesn't work, I would try the HK firmware, because of Over-The-Air–Updates (OTA). I have VoLTE and VoWifi in Switzerland with this firmware.
If it still doesn't work, try the BC-52 firmwares (but you loose OTA Updates).
Please just check after flashing a new firmware if you have the functions. If it works, first do a repair with Sony Companion before starting to install everything (like apps, files....). This makes a clean install and avoids a lot potential of failures/problems.
I bought the phone in Etoren and it is the model XQ-BC72, I live in the UK, and the update I received via OTA and is installed is 61.1.A.2.211 release-keys. you shouldn't, I guess Sony recognizes you're in the UK and installs the correct one

You won't lose your data if you explicitly tell it not to clear userdata off your phone, if that's what you mean. If, however, you're referring to certain functionalities I sometime hear of getting lost, then I myself haven't noticed such with all versions of firmware I have tried out so far.

I've yet to do a clean install, the way you have described it. I guess I'll do it just like that when I've given up on trying to activate VoLTE and VoWifi on my phone. It's interesting that your Hong Kong phone has that function over there. I suppose there is some substance in Sony's insistence that the one's network provider be engaged as well.
I was considering getting the Xperia 1 IV which would be a nice upgrade from my Xperia 1 II but with volte not working it would push me away. I managed to get it working on my Xperia 1 II by simply flashing SEA firmware. It was straight forward and has worked flawlessly with OTA updates. It doesn't look like the Xperia 1 IV will work that way. Even if I was to flash SEA firmware it looks like volte still wouldn't work. Come on Sony sort this problem out
