Hi guys
Apologies if this has been posted in the wrong section.
I have recently inherited a Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100) running the CyanogenMod 12.1, Android Version 5.1.1
I have spent the last two day trying to and failing miserably to install Xposed Installer V3.0 Alpha 2, I have searched Google and read through numerous forums on how to resolve this, but the more I read the more confusing it becomes. I would really appreciate any help/assistance in helping me fix the problem, so that I can run the app without any issues. When I access the app's log it states:
data/data/de.robv,android,xposed.installer/log/error.logpen failed. ENOENT (No such file or directory)
Also, when I try to run Titanium Backup 6.1.0, I get an error stating:
Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please very that your ROM is rooted, and try again.
This attempt was made using the "/system/xbin/su" command.
I have gone into Developer Options and set Root Access to Apps and ADB.
As I new to Android my understanding (please correct me if I am wrong) that the CyanogenMod 12.1 was actually a ROM and therefore Titanium Backup should work. FYI SD Maid not working.
Any help on both of these issues would be most appreciate, please bear in mind I am a noob where Android and Galaxy S2 are concerned.
Thanks in advance.
The forum for the i9100 is located here, but because it's so close to the i777 we can probably help a bit.
Sounds to me like your phone isn't rooted, as none of the apps you mention will work without root privileges. Install the latest SuperSU; you should be getting access prompts if you're correctly rooted.
If you are not prompted for root access when opening apps such as Titanium Backup, you'll need to install Framaroot and use the Aragorn exploit in order to easily root your device. Let us know if either of these work for you.
Hi Steve
Thanks for the reply.
I should have mentioned that I already have Super SU installed and for certain apps it does ask me to grant access. If open Super SU it displays the following apps:
Titanium Backup
Root Explorer

Strange. In that case have you tried doing a complete wipe in recovery, then reinstalling the ROM? In your case you would boot into recovery, wipe /system and dalvik cache, then install ROM and gapps. Just make absolutely certain you're running a custom recovery before doing this, such as CWM (ClockworkMOD) or TWRP (TeamWin), or you could damage your device if you're on stock recovery. And, of course, make sure you have the ROM/gapps already on your device before wiping everything!
Because you inherited the device the best method would normally be to flash back to stock and start all over - if for nothing else it's a good learning experience. Hope this helps.
Hi Steve
Thanks for the reply and your advice/information, very informativinformativ.
I was trying to avoid a complete wipe and reinstalling the ROM again, as Android is new to me and I don't want to mess up the installation and wreck the phone, even it was free. However, I think I have no choice and will have to bite the bullet and do it.
Thanks once again.

As long as you have a custom recovery there's very little that can go wrong with a full wipe. I would suggest booting into recovery first (power button + both volume keys, then release at the Samsung logo) and make sure you're running either CWM or TWRP. While in recovery do a backup first, as a "just in case". You can always restore your device fully from a backup.
The next thing to remember is to make sure your ROM/gapps are compatible with one another. For instance, if you're installing a CM12 (Android 5.0+) ROM make sure your gapps are also 5.0+.
Best of luck!
When I attempt to go into Recovery Mode it does so, but opens a CyanogenMod screeb, it dies not show any options to backup/restore, it foes however have the complete wipe option. When I run ROM Manager I have done the following Recovery Setup, which now shows Recovery Already Installed:
ClockworkMod Recovery
TWRP
But I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, for neither option to be available in Recovery Mode?

Best option for you is to go to the i9100 forum and download a kernel for your phone that is compatible with the OS version you want to install (CM12, which is 5.1. in your case). With your device (as well as our i777), the kernel and recovery are fused together, so you cannot use ROM Manager to install a recovery to a separate partition.
Once you have an i9100 5.1 kernel downloaded on your phone you can flash it through the current recovery you have, then immediately reboot back into recovery. You'll then have the correct recovery and can proceed as normal with the ROM installation.
CWM absolutely has a backup/restore option, but it's hidden in a sub menu. My personal recommendation is to use TWRP recovery, as it's still being developed and is more robust/user friendly.
So as a general rule stay away from ROM Manager for system specific changes.
Thank you so much for the information/advice, I really do appreciate all of it.
Hey guys,
I just tried to root my Acer Iconia One 10 B3-A20 (not A3-A20!!!) with Kingsroot and it kinda worked. I could grant root access to apps and modify some stuff, but unfortunately after debloating something went wrong and my tablet is in a bootloop. I performed a hardreset so I could start from the beginning. After completing the android set up I was thrown instantly to another bootloop. After some researches I tried to do the android set up but without the last step and I installed another launcher via playstore and email. Afterwards I could start and do whatever I want to do. Unluckily I'm again in an bootloop after I did a restart. I can't enter the android set up procedure anymore and can't install any apps from the playstore.
Right now I can do following:
- I can access the download mode and try to do something with adb, BUT I'm unauthorized and can't tick the USB debugging think as you can imagine
- Try to flash something via recovery, but untill now I could not flash anything
Does anybody have a suggestion? Stock recovery is still accessible, but somehow I can't flash anything.
Hope anybody can help me out.
Thanks in advance. Best Regards,
GerasVille
EDIT: It's solved and the thread can be closed.
Thanks to Shreps I could flash the stock firmware via stock recovery. Here is his post.

Hello, need help whith
I also had problems with kingroot, and decided to reset tablet "factory default".
The tablet would not start, loop on the logo. I saw this post, and download the "OS" official Acer ICONIA ACER ONE 10 B3-A20 and install it from a sd card and stock recovery.
Everything went well, the tablet starts asking me choose language, wifi network and login with google account I had before the reset. And here is the problem: I was not which account google it had before the reset, the tablet is 2nd hand and do not know how to solve this.
there any way you can skip this protection?
It is possible to flash a rom with spflash clean and able to put a new google account?
I'm bored to seek and find nothing.
Thanks in advance

Hello together!
Does anyone still have an Stock Image for Acer Iconia 10 B3-A20 for the SPFlash? I could not make a backup of the device and flashed the wrong device image (was too tired :/ ).
Would appriciate that.
Kind regards!
I use clockworkmod to update the binaries in SuperSu but when it end, the cm 13 stop working and stay on the loading screen, so i have to recover the rom.
Someone else have the same problem?
Sorry for my english but i'm from spain.
thanks!
I had this problem as well.
I use RR Marshmallow ROM and whenever I try to flash SuperSU binary (tried multiple versions) from recovery (both TWRP and CWM), I always got stuck at bootloop.
BUT - I found an easy (temporary) solution (SuperSU will still say it needs to update, but root will be working)
After days of having pain by trying to flash Binary I figured out I was doing something wrong.
I had to reflash same ROM again to get out of bootloop (you don't need to do factory reset if you are going to have SAME ROM and SAME version of ROM).
At least root is now working and update notification doesn't bother me anymore.
First download SuperSU from Play Store if you haven't already and then just go to Settings > Developer options > Root access and set it to Apps only. Reboot your phone and voila - every root app will now work and ask for your permissions. Hope I helped! Hope I'll find solution to flash update correctly as well so everything will be in order as it should be.

Still looking for solution, haven't found one yet. I'm sure I will laugh when I find out how easy it was, yet hard to find out I will let you know if I succeed.
It seems a bit trendy to mess with the recovery, resulting in a brick or bootloop.
Just making a new thread cause my case is a bit different.
I was on Existenz 4.7.0 when I decided to flash 5.0.
Wasn't a clean install, resulted in some app fc'ing and restarting, so i went back to trwp and used my backup, keeping in mind to come back and make a clean install when I can take the time it needs.
Made a few backups today and wanted to start the trwp backup when I realised that I wasn't able to enter recovery.
Installed the trwp app, which wasn't able to reflash the recovery.
So I read another posting and I decided to delete the chargemon and rename the chargemon.stock, but that wasn't that smart, I decided later.
So back home I downloaded the dual recovery software from NUT's website to totally reinstall the recovery. After some ADB trouble I managed to get everything running, the batch file installed the recovery, everything looked pretty, at the end of the process the Z2 rebootet and e voila, I'm stuck in bootloop, clueless.
When I power the phone you can feel the first small vibration, then the Sony logo appears, stays, and it reboots.
Reset Button, powering on and holding Volume up isn't doing anything, so is Volume down.
What can I Do?
I know I made a few mistakes, but help is still needed!
Bro, Please read carefully before installing recoveries.
Nut's Recovery is NOT for Marshmallow. and it will cause bootloop and same problem you encounter here.
Only Solution is to flash via flashtool and re-root.(personally i would flash a kitkat .ftf then root it with any of the available methods. you can try kingroot it is the easiest) after that install Nut's recovery and flash your MM rom which will come with its own working recovery.
Oh, ok, so thats the cause. Didn't know that, shame on me.
So Existenz 5 messed up my recovery and maybe the silly try of reflashing killed it totally or just the bootloader.
So I will try to setup a Win7 PC and setup flash tool properly (didn't seem to work on win10)
Thanks for that finger point I the right direction
Flashtool works on windows 10 no problem for me.
Just install the right drivers and install 0.9.18.6 version of flashtool and try different drivers it shall work
Will do, thanks a lot. Seems to me that I had a 4.7 Existenz Rom with bootloader/recovery from MM, which I destroyed.
Is it possible to reflash the old bootloader? Or will flash tool spare my datas on internal SD card?
why to flash a boot loader?? is your device unlocked bootloader??
It's locked.
So it can't be a broken bootloader?
So it's just because the recovery is messed up?

yes bro don't worry.
It seems that you are new to sony or you re coming from samsung or any other device with recovery partition.
By default, Sony doesn't have a recovery partition like in samsung. that is why developers made the recovery a part of the system (your ROM) the chargemon files are the one responsible for the recovery. so when you install a recovery it is like you are installing a system application which can be messed up if it is not compatible with your rom version.
PS:Be carefull never wipe the system partition from recovery and restart your phone before installing a new rom because if you restart without having installed your rom your phone won't have a recovery(part of the rom) neither a system----> Bootloop and need to reflash.
you can unlock your bootloader and make a recovery partition and install aosp roms. but on sony once you unlock your bootloader you will loose a lots of features and camera enhancements. so better keep it Locked and use stock based roms like existenz and MIUI roms which are stock based.
I hope i have been able to clarify all
OK, makes sense.
Seems like I'm still pretty new to Sony. Came from Samsung last December, just got enough knowledge to flash and improvise, quick and dirty.
So if I could get hands on my old chargemon file, (from when I didn't tried to install Existenz 5) I may get the Z2 running again?
Of course a pretty clean install afterwards.
Just asking, cause of backup reasons
Edit: I knew that unlocking the BL has a few disadvantages. I'm happy with Existenz but now I know a few things more, thanks michel090428
it is very difficult now even if you have the chargemon file. i don't know what could be messed up with the system. go for a clean flash it is the most safe way to do it.
Read this guide if you want a help with flashing it is very easy and detailed. and remember it is better to flash kitkat .ftf as it is easily rootable.
http://www.gizmobolt.com/2015/04/09...z3-23-1-a-0-690-ftf-using-flashtool-manually/
Hey folks, I'm back again!
Managed to setup a Win7 PC, installed the correct drivers, setup Flashtool, found correct ftf file and so on.
Problem is that I'm only able to get into fastboot mode with my Z2, for me it seems like Flashtool won't work when the device is only in fastboot mode.
What can I do?
why you can't start your device with flashmode?
You need to shutdown the device then when flashtool ask you to start in flash mode you press volume down(keep pressed then you plug in USB cable and it should start in flash mode directly.
have you tried to follow the guide i posted in the first page? where are you stuck? which step?

Was a bit tricky, did the 'vol down + plug in' thing several times and it worked suddenly, flashtool flashed the ftf. Now it's FCing several tasks while it would do the android setup. Trying to flash a 4.4.2 ROM now, thanks for patience and help, appreciated this!

You re Welcome Bro,
Concerning the FC You need to check the WIPE DATA option in flashtool i think it will solve the FC's
I'm with 23.1.A.1.28 now and it's fine. Just need to get root, there should be an exploit but it's not working for me, reasons unknown. Going to have a look at it later. Want to flash Existenz, that's the goal.
Bro , Use KINGROOT it is able to root .28 firmware.
there is a thread here for kingroot.
I am trying to install the Flumics rom 3.0 its installs fine but the problem is when i reboot it reboots but then goes back to TWRP. I also get a message saying
'TWRP can leave your ststem partition unmodified to make it easier for you to take offical updates. TWRP will be unable to prevent the stock ROM from replacing and will not offer to root your device'
Installing zips of performing ADB operations may still modify the system partition
I really want this rom to work on my phone Im not sure what to do now.
I followed this forum to get my recovery

Your help would really really be appreciated.
