Team,
I need an app that can be opened from the lock screen and which allows me to take instant handwritten notes. I use and love Metamoji but it takes too long to get to a blank page just to scribble down a quick note. I would use the small app but it doesn't permit handwriting. Any ideas?
Thanks

Stylus Labs Write seems to be pretty decent.. one tap to open and another tap to open new document but as far as it goes for writing on the lock screen i dont know of any.
Thanks forthis. Close but not quite what I am looking for. Mainly, it's missing a wrist guard which is a big problem when writing notes.
Cheers

When I need a note, it needs to be very simple to use. Simple to open, simple to type, simple to save and simple to find.
One tap from the homes screen, no title to fool with, auto save on closure and easy to find later.
I have tried several of the note apps but none seem to meet all these things
AK notepad almost does this and I use it but there are two issues I have with it.
It takes two taps to open from the home screen and the notes are embedded in the program are are not visible as separate files.
Any thoughts?

Great and pretty simple, one click for open and another to edit , than back key to save.
The best is Motorola Widget "sticky note" that comes with the stock Motorola roms.

Have you tried Evernote?
IMO "Colornote" is the best and it only uses a couple permissions, which makes me like it even more...

I agree with the color note. One tap on home screen opens app to your list of notes and one tap to open individual note. If only using one note it will open right to that note. Autosave on close. Simple easy...

Perhaps I am do not have these setup right, but..
Using a shortcut from Home...
Colornote requires one tap to open from Home, a second to select new note, a third to select Text
Evernote requires one tap to open from Home, and a second to select new note. But the curser defaults to a title field, requiring a third tap.
Geesh, I don't use notes very often but when the need arises there is a little stress to get something down fast without fumbling with the software. A note app that opened to a new note on a single tap would be sweet.

Sounds like one of those non-issue issues. You have to tap to type. Right? Short term memory?
What were we talking about?

You can try mine I have some reviews in the description that you can check out too:

Swipe Switcher

Enjoy guys.
Thanks, installing now. I've been looking for other ways to toggle applications (really used to assigning hardware keys on a BlackBerry for SMS and Email).
It looks like it just goes to the last used program, so you're essentially just switching between two at a time. Or am I doing something wrong?
Edit: Duh. Settings. You can customize the action depending on what part of the screen you swipe from. I have my top left set for the previous application, and the bottom left for messages. I disabled both right hand ones.
Pretty neat actually, but I'm fine using Home long press for recently used.

Not bad. Only run into a couple of annoying details, but nothing major. Nice find.

Home long press *only* gives you recently *used* apps. Which is great and all, I use it too. But this allows a different way to go about it, giving you not just a "back" button but sort of a "forward" button too.
A very big difference is it allows you to use any of the corners to open any app or shortcut you want.
That allows easy access whether you've *recently* used a program or not.

There is another app called Swipe Pad that is similar and very customizable.

I found it worked well enough but I wasn't a big fan. I am very anti bloatware and while that app technically wasnt bloat.. its an "unecessary" addition to android that I dont find useful. Just thought my peers would enjoy it and they have lol. so I'm happy
Touch Blocker Beta - a simple but useful app that makes holding and using your device easier
There are two basic functions:
- create dead zones where touches do not register
- filter the screen when reading in low light

Debugging
If you experience issues, the best way to help is by reproducing them and then clicking "write to us" - be sure to include a description of your error or we may not read the logs.
This has never been tested on a Tegra 3 device, so I would appreciate some feedback here - is it working!?
Anything to report?
Where can we use it for?
Eh? Im not sure i understand...
Just installed it, amazing app, i was actually looking for something like this yesterday! I wanted a way to lock my screen while watching movies so I wouldn't exit fullscreen mode accidentally.
Thanks!

Great! Any suggestions?
What would be some good other uses for this besides movies?
Downloading now. I imagine this ould be used to block palm detection for drawing like on Sketchbook Pro and the sort. I'll edit this after a review. Thanks for the opportunity.
What? Palm detection? I think it will only work on a few devices...
I wish I could use this for the soft keys on the navigation bar. It would really help cause I'm left handed (I keep hitting the back/home keys by mistake when I'm writing on my Prime).

OK after using it today, i found it pretty straightforward and simple to use.
Found only one small bug, when playing a video, on YouTube, stock player or whatever, if you touch the screen the on-screen controls jump on, you cannot press them, but the UI do popup.
And one suggestion, the resizeable square where you select the zone to be blocked from touches should have at least a small pad or something to drag it. Once the square reaches the borders it gets really hard to pick again.

On the latest ICS update. Go to settings/ASUS customized settings/system bar lock/enable system bar lock. Now you won't hit the home key or any softkey buttons.

I don't think it can be used for that. You could use TouchScreenTune app, paid version can handle palm detection on our device.
This app is for blocking areas of the screen.

Just downloaded the Access Graffiti app yesterday. It is just like the Palm Graffiti from the old days. It's pretty awesome with the Note since we have a Stylus... er... S-Pen.
Anybody else use the app?
Q:
Any idea how to click "enter" when trying to submit a search?
Q:
I wish there was a way to do on the fly switching between keyboard and Graffiti. Perhaps this exists and I'm just missing it [?]. [it would be amazing if there was a way to default to keyboard unless the stylus was removed - but as far as I know the phone doesn't sense the presence of the stylus].
The phone does sense the spen.
Put the tip of the pen close to the screen but not touching and you will notice it keeps the screen from turning off

It doesn't sense when the S-Pen is removed - If I had one major gripe, I'd say that is it. It would be nice to have the screen turn on the moment you remove the S-Pen.
Hey man, I just downloaded the Graffiti for Android. It's actually pretty awesome. Now I just need to memorize the keys... I don't know if figured it out already but I have an answer from your first questions.
"Q: Any idea how to click "enter" when trying to submit a search?"
If you tap and drag from the top right diagonally to bottom left it is the command for "return". Actually you can see all the commands if you swype up. A little window will show up and you can cycle through the box of commands by tapping.
I love this Graffiti app!
Hi people,
I have a very specific need for a very simple app:
It should be one button only on one screen, and one textfield only on another screen.
The function of the button is to send a predefined(coded into app) SMS to the number you input in the other screen(this number should autosave).
In other words -
Screen 1: 1 big button, "ACTIVATE" (when clicked, sends SMS "activate" to number)
Screen 2: Settings screen, one box only, for putting in destination number and saving it.
I have above average general computer-knowledge and understanding, but no experience whatsoever with app-development.
Can I learn to, and write this app simply myself, say in a day or two max? Or should I just pay someone that knows what they're doing because it would take me too long to learn?
I suggest that you go on your own. It is not difficult to code such an app and learning some code isn't bad at all. You can do it in one day if you're determined enough. Good luck!
If you don't want to learn to code then there is always my app SMS Bot Widget:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.ubikapps.smswidget
It is a home screen widget only so you can't send a message from an app, only a home screen widget.

Your Widget seems to be 99% what I need..! Would it be easy for me to modify your code, to change the text and options on the settingscreen, and make the Widget just a standard picture?
Also, could I cancel the confirmation part, just have the text sent in background instead of the confirm-to-send?
Edit: What I really need is a cross between your widget and this app in its simplest form:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ult#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsIm51LmZkcC5TbXNfUkMiXQ..
Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not Development forums.
Thread moved.
OK, so I started trying out myself, using MIT AppInventor. I've gotten pretty far, all I'm missing is for the app to store what's put in the "PhoneNumber"-textbox. How do i make the app save the number for later, also when app is restarted?
Last thing, when I use a picture for button, how do i get it to be "shaded" when pressed? you know, so you know when your pressing it.
What am I missing to get these features?

OK, so I've found the TinyDB, and put in the "store value" block, however I don't know where to put the "retrieve value" to get it to retrieve as soon as app is opened.. any help?
