There is recently some problem with whatsapp fullsyncing and causing massive wakelock even though i had switched off my internet. These only happened with the few latest versions of whatsapp
Anyone has similar experience?
The service causing the wakelock:
fullsync
com.whatsapp.Whatsapp
Same problem here except I'm on a galaxy nexus running aokp build 27 with Franco's kernal. Murdering my battery it is.
Same issue using galaxy s2
Hey guys,
Pls help!!!
I am using Xperia P and since an Update few days ago whatsapp has been draining my battery heavily!!!
I added a Screenshot! I lost nearly 30% in 3 hrs! Anybody know how to fix this?!
Edit:
I found out: manually killing the whatsapp task and rebooting the phone seems to fix the problem, at least for me and at least for now.

Seems like thats the case. A friend of mine had the same problem but he was able to fix it by killing the whatsapp task and deleting its cache. Anybody got sucessful by that too?
Note my edit above, I solved it with an additional reboot. Still wondering about whats the matter with whatsapp...

Excellent update, Whatsapp, really ..
I'm experiencing the same issue. Over the course of a day, it's kept my phone awake for over 7 hours! WTH is going on.

Found this possible solution in the Nexus forum. I just did it so won't know immediately whether it works or not.

Go to settings, scroll down to accounts, tap on whatsapp. There you can turn off contacts synchronization, which is causing the wakelocks.
It will not interfere with your messages as this only sycs your contacts.
Do check once in a while if it stays of as with me it sometimes turns on automatically

I've had this since updating Whatsapp+ to v3.9D. Going back to 3.85D for now...
The issue is still there with the latest whatsapp update (2.10.768).
Also the workaround doesnt work for me anymore (disabeling the contact sync) even with the sync turned off, whatsapp went syncing overnight with my screen off(?!) It didn't turned sync on, but it went in "full sync" wakelock anyway...
I send an email to the whatsapp developers. I think (and hope) more people did this already, if this issue won't be resolved i will remove whatsapp messenger. This issue is just damn irritating and very bad for battery life (short and long term).

I'm experiencing this as well. I disabled contacts sync but the problem is that it turns itself back on.
Also have to say that i'm on a LG Nexus 4. Maybe i'm wrong, but it looks like LG & Samsung (Nexus models) phones on Android 4.2.2 are the only ones with this issue. In the Whatsapp messenger comments at google play this problem/bug is not mentioned either.
Don't know if you already found this out, but trowing it into the open anyways. Using 4.2.2 for only two weeks now, coming of 2.3.5.
Today i found out that there is another (hidden) "sync" option to be found via the google agenda/calender. Go to settings -> choose your google/gmail account -> Accounts and synchronisation. there is another option listed above the accounts i could't find earlier "Appdata/information aut.." (i think that stands for "Automatically synchronise app data").
Turning this off will mean none of your accounts will sync automatically anymore. I will check if this (temporarly) works overnight and report on that.
I'm thinking charging the device enables the bug. I'm thinking this because i looked at my phone over the rest of the day (wakelock detector) and the issue didn't occur.

Not true. I'm experiencing this issue on my S3 with a TouchWiz 4.1.2 ROM.
I have the same problem now on my HTC One running Android 4.2.2 and the current whatsapp+ version (Base Whatsapp 2.10.750)
Good news from my side.
With the app sync unticked via the google calendar the problem did not occur overnight after charging.
This temp fix looks like it's working for now.

where did you find whatsapp in google calandar? can you explain that a little? thanks
Just follow the steps i explained.
You will see a list of all your accounts. Whatsapp should be in that list. On the top of that list untick the app sync.
Note that my way works on a LG Nexus 4, you use a HTC. This has a layer over android that may have a different way to change settings.
Just look for your "auto sync" settings and put that off in general. This workaround seems to work for me.
EDIT: Unhappy to report that the problem came back right after charging my phone.
After taking the ICS update, I've been having some issues with a "facebook authentication fail" error daily. Has anybody else had this problem? It might be another sign to give up on Facebook...google+ works perfectly.
I'm running Nilsp BGS and I get that error also but only about once a week.

I had that issue too after flashing nils rom but not with anything else before. I was on various ics roms. Thought it was because of the ad block script so reflashed, disabled it and haven't had it since.

This will do it. Funny that it worked fine for ICS for so long until they updated a couple weeks ago. FB needs to hire our devs to make their apps.

FWIW, also encountering on an Arnova 10 G2 tablet. I don't think it's ROM-specific or device specific. It's a problem with the app.
It is certainly and issue with ICS as I have seen on other phone forums that this issue is there...
The last known version of Facebook that works is version 1.8.4 which you can find here on xda... Just search...
The version that sits on the phone after un-installing the updates is 1.8.1

Facebook's app is simply terrible. I bought FriendCaster Pro but even it doesn't display everything in my news feed for some reason.
Lately I've just been using the mobile site. Make a shortcut to it and it "feels" like an app
Actually, its a conflict between the latest official Facebook App and HTCs Sense Facebook App.
Basically, use the old version of Facebook or freeze/remove the Sense FB app. I removed the HTC version and haven't seen any differences in functionality or features.

Thats what I thought too until I removed htc facebook from my ROMs. Now if I install facebook from the market it does the same thing. So I don't think its caused by htc's facebook. I solved it by just not installing facebook but that solution only works for me.
Perhaps its also the HTC FB chat then. I removed both at the same time because I never use chat.
Wow, I didn't realize there were so many people with the same problem. #FacebookSucks

Anyone having issues with this app? It used to work well with GB and after ICS it still would work but the "deepsleep" would never reset after plugging in. Didn't bug me much but just after the latest update few days ago it no longer works at all. Just says" No reference set yet" Is it just mine or anyone else having similar issues? did a reinstall and same problem also did a clear data and still broke.

Help me to find out the Apps Causing Drain!!
Hi all,
I have some abnormal battery drain in my mobile, so i tried to find the root cause for this. I just ended up in BBS, where i could see some kernel wakelocks, Alarm wakelock causing drain.
Attached is the dumpfile (Generated from BBS) along with Another Dump Alarm file (dumpsys alarm > AlarmManager.txt)
I Have analysed (with Google, yes!!) upto my knowledge and Unistalled some apps and Disabled Location Services and Backup (under Settings-Privacy). Apart from that i am clueless! Just posting these results for you guys have a look at it.
Kindly Help me to figure it out Guys!!

I don't think that is horrible. You were running 6 hrs with screen on of 1hr 8min. and you dropped to 48%...Your awake time was 1hr59...the backup service is still a main culprit...not sure if that is the thing backing up your data to your provider or not. The problem is not in the app or update. Check your settings. Install BBS and WLD and find out which app is eating your battery and act accordingly.

The problem is the app. After the update from beta 4 to beta 5 in battery details Greenify occupy at least 40% and the battery decrease very fast.
Today I deactivated Greenify and the battery usage now is normal.
No problem here must be something else to my opinion. Installed beta 5 the moment it was out

One question: why I can't install an old version of Greenify, overwriting the existing app? If I try to install the beta 4 on the beta 5 the result is "app not installed".
I'd like to make a downgrade instead to uninstall and reinstall, to maintain all the options and the list of the greenified apps.
uninstall first~

U should erase the app u installed before and then install new version or minor one
You must have greenified something which you ought not have. No one else is having problems.
While downgrading, no app will install over an upgrade already installed. So you have to uninstall the beta5 before trying to install beta4 or any other version.
If you have a backup of beta4 with data, then your settings will not be lost.
You can also try to uninstall and reinstall beta5 with reboots in between and after reinstallion and see whether that solves the problem.
Thanks, but my phone is not rooted and I prefer to not lose my settings. For now I deactivated Greenify... :/

That's where the magic really happen -- when you're rooted and have Xposed installer hand in hand with Greenify
Yesterday I left the beta test and I reinstalled the official 2.4.4 version.

Good for you then. If i may suggest, you wont regret rooting your device. It will give you so much more control and freedom. Good luck, mate!
Just want to say that after installing the latest beta I suffered pretty big battery drains. Today I reinstalled the 2.4.4 and the drain is gone.
You know what, I think that the two of you are right. I am also experiencing unusual battery drain though I am not sure that it is related to Greenify.
To be on the safer side, I have rolled back to 2.4.4. Let me see what happens. By the way, 2.5 seems to be available on Playstore but don't know whether this issue has been addressed.

We had the problem in ver. 2.5 beta5. If 2.5 beta1 fixed a battery problem, the fix should have been carried over in 2.5 beta5 and there shouldn't have been any issues. Both my Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 were affected.
However, I have not confirmed Greenify as the cause. 2.4.4 is now installed (from Titanium Backup) in both the devices. Let me see overnight.

No, this drain is on 2.5final too.
I'm on 2.4.4 but the beta5 draining more than beta4
the best results i have with the beta3 and beta4 and the beta5 and final gives me the battery drain
I believe we need to wait for the next builds
So if i dont a go to enable greenify in settings, accessibility was it ever working? Because ive been using it for a week now, and this whole time it was off in accessibility. It was operating as if it was working, but i never noticed a difference in babery life.
Hey all, I seem to be having an issue with the Pandora app. It is an app I use heavily, which it crashing is driving me bonkers.
Here's what happens. I open the app and it stays open until it starts to play/load music. The moment the artist information shows up the app closes itself. I had flashed the debloat script and rooted the phone. Then I disabled swap and of course, installed all my apps. Later I noticed the Pandora app crashing problem. I figured it was probably something the debloat script removed that I might have needed so I recovered to stock and only restored root. Low and behold, Pandora worked fine. I spent an hour or two listening and reading a book. I paused it so I could prepare for bed and when I hit play, it crashed again. Tried rebooting the phone, clearing the apps cache/data and reinstalling. Nothing seems to work. The app is set as a protected app in the settings. Also, I have the KIW-L24(USA) model.
tldr: Read the title
Hoping someone has some hints they could throw my way. It seems curious that the app would work for a few hours then only stop working after I paused and then hit play again. If anyone has any advice, please shoot it my way.
What software build do you have? This issue was previously reported, but it should be fixed by now. Also, what version is the Pandora app?

Pandora: version 6.9.2 (I have Pandora One, just in the off chance that would matter?)
I just cleared the app cache, deleted the app data, uninstalled, then booted into twrp, cleared the dalvik cache and rebooted (as I stated in the first post, I had done this all before). It now seems to be working. If it begins to crash a third time, I'll update.
And it started crashing again. I may have found the culprit. Everything was kosher until I allowed notifications. When I did the app crashed, with near instant crashes there on. Shut off notifications for Pandora in settings and it works like a charm.
Edit: I can repeat this issue by enabling/disabling notifications. A bit annoying, bit at least the app works.

I'm using an unofficial build uploaded by bandit development. It works fine and everything runs very smoothly. The only things that don't work are the fingerprint reader, the back camera, and the back flash.
