Is it possible to downgrade an Verizon z2 sgp561 back to kitkat? Thank you, Dan
Edit: anyone have an older version (17.1.D.0.437) .ftf i looked but came up empty handed.
There's a post somewhere where it contains all roms from xperia z2, and there's also a post that contain all roms prerooted. Use flashtool to downgrade, there's a tutorial somewhere too.

You can flash via flashtool the one posted before excluding baseband.
I have 6.1.1.B.1.10, I'll upload it for you.

Why do you need GB to sell it? It won't make a huge difference and the buyer is probably gonna end up upgrading it anyway
Anyway, here's the link for ICS in case it's useful for someone https://www.dropbox.com/s/7jfez2tekoajpuz/ST25a_6.1.1.B.1.10_None.ftf
Is imposible to find wit, there are some but all have bloatware of the carriers.
If you need it PM me
The ics baseband should still work on GB

I'm stuck on the current 532 Chinese version and it's not letting me upgrade or downgrade.
Been over 6 hours flashing and flashing and I'm having problems with the HK/Asian versions of the stock rom.
Since downgrading from 4.3 to 4.2 my sim no longer works regardless. I'm not getting any signal regardless of what I do.
I bought my Xperia Z Ultra from UAE and would preferably want to use a UAE/Middle Eastern Rom.
Previously I had the FTF file for the Middle East and it worked wonders for me. Unfortunately I've removed and can no longer find it.
Should anyone be kind enough to upload the FTF file or even guide me to a working link I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

6802. Thanks.
Here you go

Oh, it looks like you've lost your IMEI, and that's why you're not getting a signal. This happens when you downgrade from 4.3 to 4.2. I have no idea why it happens, but it does, so follow this guide to restore your IMEI.
the problem may appear in some models. I downgraded mine from 4.3 to 4.2 without such problem.
p.s you can flash any firmware to your phone, no need to be in UAE. I live in Vietnam and I flashed European 4.3 on mine.

True, however, I had issues with the HK edition of the rom. It had some corruption or file missing since it would't allow me to properly root and when trying to boot in CWM it would't work.

Correct, my imei was 000000000000000. I will refer to the link you provided. Thanks.
I've successfully UPGRADED to 532 Middle East version.
Thanks to everyone for their support and response.
Unfortunately I'm not that technical with regards to flashing and such and usually I spend hours if not a whole day trying to solve a simple issue.
Usually when attempting downgrading, flashing and changing roms and using custom firmware I get stuck half way through.
This ends up with a half working phone, boot loops, etc...
This happened when trying to get the 290 firmware, rooted with root. The part with regards to using a dual recovery was not too clear and this resulted in a bricked device.
I'm now back to stock 532, rooted & happy. To be honest, I didn't see any big differences with 532 and 290.
I cannot live without root. My bootloader is locked and unlocking it is a pain in the ass, lol.
I will patiently wait for the proper update of Android 4.4 Kitkat until I decide on upgrading.
I can only hope there is an easy rooting method of 4.4 when it's released. I don't plan on backing up data, reinstalling everything again, etc...
Let's hope when 4.4 Kitkat is released there is an easy rooting method which doesn't require an unlocked bootloader.
I have the 32GB Wifi ONLY Z2 Tablet, and I was wondering if anyone has or can find the FTF file for any version older than .402. I would really like to use the new root exploit but I need an FTF file older than .402. Thanks!

I'm looking for the same. Can we use SGP511 FTF, or does it have to be SGP512? I guess not that many people have SGP512.

I would think you could use the sgp511's ftf. I'm not entirely sure tho.

Actually I can confirm that you can't.
I am also looking fot a FTF older than .402 for the SGP512 (32GB)
I don't understand why someone wouod buy the 16gb version anyway when loads of the space is already used up by the os before you start putting apps on. Surely the extra cash is worth double the storage after paying so much for it in the first place!

I have received my Z2 tablet 32gb wifi and it's running .36 - I'm willing to make an FTF if someone can tell me how to make one copying directly from the device. All the guides I have found are how to make it from the Sony Companion files and of course, when I connect it now, it just offers me 402, not the version that's currently on there.
I am on rooted Android 5.1.1 Sony xperia z2 d6503, now I got ota marashmellow 6.0 update file of 974mb,.if I update it, can my root exit on marashmellow or not. If not then how can I root 6.0.
You will loose root and there is no way to root it on 6.0 (unless you unlock bootloader)... So best way is flash pre-rooted version from your existing 5.1.1...
You can't update while you have root and/or recovery, however you can download the update but once it's done the update will fail because you have modified system.
You can flash a pre-rooted firmware via recovery to get the latest software update and maintain root access and recovery.
Until now there is no expoilt to root directly.
I got the same thing just this morning.
I was wondering about the same issue.
This ota is not the beta version released earlier i presume?
And is there a prerooted rom of this exact ota from Sony?.
I have seen a lot of good works on MM for Z2 but for sm reason i opted to wait fo the official sony version.

Actually there is.
Before the the update roll over OTA it's released via Xperifirm one week before.
By the way, you can even make your own pre-rooted firmware by yourself via PRFcreator!

Hi everybody,
I got my hands on a Z5 Compact Prototype (really cool, it has xx MP written on the back and a few other quirks), otherwise it's a completely normal phone. The model is still E5823, customization 1298-7258 R5B and current software 32.0.A.4.11 (5.0.1).
I'm wondering, is it possible to flash the latest Nougat or at least a MM stock ROM using the Sony Mobile Flasher? I'm asking because I'm afraid I might brick it (I never flashed a ROM in the Mobile Flasher beforehand). The drivers look OK, it is detected as an ADB device.
Also, is there any way to backup the current ROM and to revert to it later if needed? I tried the Xperia Companion/Repair my Sony but I don't think it works on this new version.
Thanks in advance.

Are you rooted? If you are you can try and take the build.prop from a retail unit firmware and replace yours with it. This way you will avoid hard bricking it. Also, take note of the firmware you are running and download Xperifirm (there you can check which exactly it is and download new firmwares directly). Xperia Companion might not work because 1) you are running a pre-release ROM and 2) differences in actual unit. *IF* it's the second one, I'd be very careful (tho with Flashtool you should be fine, Sony phones are hard to hard brick).
EDIT: You can compare the build.prop files and use common sense to find out whether it will be of any use to actually replace it..

Thanks for the tips.
I managed to flash a stock E5823 32.2.A.0.305 firmware (6.0.1) and it works perfectly. It's just that it detects an OTA Update for the 32.2.A.5.11 but it cannot install it; looks like flashing with Flashtool is the only option. I guess I'll wait for a stable 7.0 and I'll flash it afterwards.

This is excellent news! Since it's a prototype the FOTA partitions might not have been set up or don't work properly (if you have a saved Flashtool log you might be able to see which it is, although they should be fine since flashing hasn't failed ) but that's ok since you can use Flashtool. Are you going to root it? Also, Nougat is out, so be sure to root before you update :fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed:
I've already flashed the latest (.378) Nougat build and it works great, just like before.
I know that there were some problems with root on Nougat. I don't really need root access because I don't use the device as a daily driver, but if I'd like to get root access I need to revert to MM via Flashtool? Can I still do that now?
PS: You can see a review of it with MM installed right here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/short-review-sony-z5-compact-prototype-t3555140

That's awesome! I also unwittingly bought a prototype and wanted to flash it to Nougat, but am worried about bricking it. How did you go about flashing it?
oh my god this is the tread i found, i have XZ premium prototype one looking for the way to flash original firmware. i found XZ premium firmware from Xpirifirm already downloaded and create ftf(as it really new one so i see no device number to pick i rather pick XZ name on it anyhow it is create with no issue).
but the problem is i go to flash it and flash tools newest version ask me to enter flash mode. i did but it did not go i do not know why, anyone knows why it cant be flash? do i need to install any drivers? or anything else to flash it? or it just need to wait for flashtools to update support for my device first? thanks in advance
