Hello,
I need some help guys, so i'm looking into purchasing a LG V10 & I asked the seller to send me the imei just to make sure it's not blacklisted with t-mobile. The phone is clean, only problem I had was, beside the model number it says DEMO on the box. The seller said he won it through LG. Can a demo phone be unlocked & used as a normal phone or does it need to be rooted?
Thanks

Call T-Mobile directly and ask.
Sent From My LG V10
I did & they weren't sure lol. Going to go to the store tomorrow and find out. Just wanted to check if someone else on here knew.
Demos don't carry warranty, and legally cannot be sold words from my business Rep.
Thanks for the info, does it still work as a regular phone or will it have to be rooted?
My business Rep says itll be fine, but can't be traded in/upgraded through tmo or warranty exchange.
Is the phone unused as a demo model? I sometimes see demo devices advertised for sale, and the ones that were on display in stores are always shown to have some severe screen burn-in from displaying the same graphics for so long. The also say that the demo mode needs to be deactivated, but I'm not sure how that's done.

Imho it's a risk. My G4 also came up clean on swappa as DEMOUNIT. 4 months plus using it as normal, no issues. YMMV
Thanks, i have verified it with tmobile and they advised a week ago these units were won in a competition and one rep won it as well. So he advised all were demo units. Only issue in having now is to make sure it will unlock. Tmobile has the device unlock app now

I have a demo one and it it was unlocked already I unlocked boot loader myself and rooted it but it's fully functioning in metro pcs right now
I have a close friend that works for T-Mobile. He won an Experia Z3 at a Christmas party last year that was a demo same as that V10. As others have said, the phone will not be warrantied in any way but will function exactly as any other V10. You'll be able to unlock and root just like any retail model.

Does anyone have any advice to SIM unlock this phone? T-Mobile tells me it isn't a T-Mobile device...
Huh
So, what's the experience with the demo v10 been? I just bought one.....looks and seems brand new "won in a sales contest".

Nope. What I have learned is that it is not treated as a T-Mobile phone and can't be unlocked. It isn't intended for commercial use but is fully functional as long as you have T-Mobile or a sister carrier.

Hi All,
I need to unlock my AT&T HTC Titan for a trip out of the US and I called ATT and they told me I cant get a code until December NEXT year. I won't start a thread about how much that irritates me.
But I wanted to know if anyone has unlocked theirs using a 3rd party unlock service and if so, who did you use?
I tried a couple that do 'pre-lookups' and they told me they don't have it - now I am waiting for one that takes your money first and then refunds you if they cant do it.
Anyone unlocked their ATT Titan?
Unlocked mine with htcimeiunlock.com. Their "pre-unlock" told me they had it and after paying I had it within 10 minutes.

If you've been an At&t customer for a reasonable amount of time, try logging in to attwireless.com,
click on "Wireless account: 29804xxxxxxx"
then scroll down to where you see a picture of your phone, click "My Phone/Device"
then you should see on the page "Unblock SIM card", Click that link and a popup should give you the unlock code. **Write down that code.**
When you get a Sim card for a different company and put it in your phone it will prompt you for that code. Enter it and you're forever unlocked, even if you update your Windows Phone software.
I have only had my Titan for 2 weeks after upgrading and I have this feature available to me already.
Hope that helps! Thanks At&t for being so great and finally giving out unlock codes!!

Unlock code is permanent on your titan? Mine is ATT titan and unlock code works but I need to enter the unlock code in every bootup. What happens?
Sent from my PI39100 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
exactly, mine ATT Titan will ask for network unlock code after every reboot... hmmm this is disgusting.
Sure you're not confusing "unlock codes?" There are a few different kinds.
Once you enter a subsidy unlock code, it should be permanent. On the other hand, SIM PIN codes, PUKs, etc. are something that has to be entered each time you boot (or in some cases, each time you turn the screen on).
.
Any free way to do this? :/
Well, you can try to buy from the guy in the UK for 1.49 pounds on Ebay, or $2.44 USD. Not free, but it's cheap enough ... and it works for me (Titan II). The US sellers try to ask me $14-$20 for the same code. Don't buy from them.

Bought an unlock from ebay, $2.76 and I got the unlock code in a few hours.

Hi everyone!
Have anybody found solution of at&t lock on titan? I've bought unlock code from ebay but it works only until I reboot the phone. Some ideas?
Recently, I've bought three of HTC Titans from eBay. Seller told me that they all are unlocked. In fact, two of it was unlocked, third - not. If he unlocked two of it so thats mean that PERMANENT unlock are real. Specs of these 3 HTCs are the same (firmware, bootloader, etc)
Anyone got one on orange or tmobile ? If so is it locked?

Thank you very much! Still waiting for my I9305 to be shipped, and it's probably going to be locked too. Going to travel in March 2013, so I'm glad to hear it can be unlocked already.
Had to cut my Three SIM down to micro sim size but thats no big deal when the outcome is such a good phone.
Where did you get the phone from in the UK?
also what speeds are you getting with 4G in the UK?
I got the phone from T-Mobile shop in manchester. The EE 4G service hasn't been rolled out nationwide yet so currently still just on 3G until the end of the month.

I recently bought a ZTE Max XL from a customer that had it on Boost Mobile.
I was unaware that Boost requires the phone to stay within their carrier network "Active" for
at least 12 months. They tell me the phone IS eligable for DSU (unlocking) however they
won't do it because of the 12 month requirement. They tell me to drop my service and come on
over to Boost... NOT my ideal solution.
Does ANYONE know a service or company (or individual) that can unlock my ZTE Max XL N9560?

Even if you have had the Boost ZTE Max XL for a year of service with Boost and you manage to get them to give you the unlock code, there is no way to put it in the phone. Typically, if you insert a different carrier sim in the phone, it will prompt for an unlock code. Try it on the Max XL. It just says "invalid sim", no way to enter anything. So, as incredible
as it sounds, what Boost and Sprint are doing is giving you a code, but there is no way to actually enter it.
You could buy an unlock code from one of the online sources. Some of them will
tell you that they can't unlock this Boost phone. Others have instructions that tell you once you have the unlock code, how to enter it. It starts with inserting a different sim. That doesn't work. Next it's try a variety of half a dozen strings on the keyboard to get it to prompt for the unlock code input. They don't work. Try them before buying any code. My conclusion is that these codes will not work, because there is no way to put them into the phone.
Then there is the ultimate gotcha. If you look at the specs for this phone, it supports both CDMA and GSM. It should work on AT&T or Tmobile, for example. But if you do some googling you will see people saying that Boost/Sprint has the GSM disabled, ie the firmware isn't there to enable it, etc. So, even if you successfully unlocked the phone, where are you going to go? Nowhere. You're on Boost, Sprint won't take the phone, they have a very selective and short list of phones they will accept. I doubt Virgin will take it. So, you're pretty much stuck, with nowhere to go. :crying:
If you want to go to another carrier, best solution is to sell the phone on Ebay and get one that works on the other carrier. And so much for the new unlock policy of the industry. The govt was after them a couple years ago for their abuse of customers with locked phones. So, the industry sold the govt on the idea of letting them get together and come up with an industry wide agreed solution. And this is how Boost/Sprint is implementing it. In essence, nothing has changed with them. Others like Verizon, I understand don't lock their phones. MetroPCS only requires 90 days of service, then there is an unlock app on the phone where you request it and it automatically unlocks.
In other words, some companies are honest and ethical, some, not so much.:crying

Hi peeps,
I'm from Holland and i bought myself a Samsung s8 active global gsm unlocked from a seller in the usa via ebay. However the phone is branded with at&t firmware and somehow it isn't possible for the phone to find a network here in Holland. When i search manually for a network, it finds the networks which are operating here, but when i try to register onto the network it says that it's impossible to register...
I hope someone can help me with this!
Greetings from Holland

i search your device and it say it only has 3 variants AT&T
T-Mobile
Sprint
also openline is the right keyword not "Debranding"
in my country openline usually cost $20 US dollar but i guess you can do it yourself by following guides from the internet ?

Well ok... thanks for your reply. Like i said, I'm from Holland, so pls excuse me for not knowing the correct terms. I searched the internet and found some pages in Dutch where i found the term branded phone and debranding, so i figured that is a universal term for it...
I happen to have a T-mobile subscription here in Holland. So it should be possible to use the phone with T-mobile firmware if there isn't a "unbranded" firmware version.
this guy has the same issue with you https://forums.att.com/t5/Samsung/Unlock-instructions-for-Galaxy-S8-Active/td-p/5850469
also this website is worth checking
https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/
Thanks for your answer. However, the top url doesn't work and i allready tried the bottom one... can't unlock myself via at&t because i don't have a at&t phone nr or account... never had. Can't create an account because they ask for a at&t phone nr which i don't have. I bought the phone on ebay and it was shipped to Holland.
Had contact multiple times with Samsung Europe and they said it would be no problem for me to use the phone here, but it seems that's not the case.
hmmn since most option require you to have at&t mobile# and account which you don't have the only option i see is contacting at&t FB page and say your case ( you just bought the phone on ebay and didn't know its network lock ) who know they might openline it without paying anything ??

Is there someone who can help me with this? I can't find anything helpfull on the internet so far...
I really want my new phone to work here on the Dutch networks but it seems to me it's solely because of the at&t firmware that's stopping me from doing so. Is there any way to get rid of that firmware safely? Personally I'm not interested in the whole warranty thing because since i have this phone shipped to holland, i can't get any warranty with samsung Europe, so for any warranty i have to ship it back to America which i won't do because of the costs that will come with that.
Suggestions/tips are more then welcome!
Some progress
In addition to this subject... been in france with my 'new' phone and inserted my sim-card to see what would happen. Immediately it found a network and I could make calls and use 4g internet. Back in Holland it still works but the reception is poor. Been searching for the right apn settings, found alot of different suggestions and tried a bunch of them. So far so good. When I change something in the apn settings, 4g internet becomes very slow or is entirely gone. It seems I'm on to something here but I can't find out which are the best settings.
I hope someone has more understanding of this problem...
Flashing firmware
Ok so it now seems the at&t firmware is the problem. But is there a save way to flash T-mobile software to the galaxy s8 active? It has bootloader 4 on it

Oneplus will definitely provide the unlock token if their higher level managers are aware of this issue.
They have the unlock token and just need to update the unlock website to include all Metropcs IMEIs.
It is really as simple as flipping a switch if the right person knows it.
According to data, most of the N10's sold in the US are actually the metropcs version. It is the most sold phone for metropcs. Not many people are buying it from t-mobile or oneplus directly.
Rightnow, all the chat/email representatives are not high level enough to flip that switch. That is why they told you oneplus cannot unlock metropcs n10's bootloader.
What we need to do is keeping asking the representatives to escalate this issue to higher managers.
i just did that on the online oneplus support and im now going to get on the phone and call to speak to a live person because i dont have muck faith in the person on the other end of that chat to actually escalate after asking that be done multiple times
I get the run around from OnePlus almost everyday they claim to escalate ticket

The chat/email agents are really low level.
They first replied me with t-mobile unlock policy, which has nothing to do with metropcs n10 bootloader unlock issue.
I bet they didn't even read my entire message except for the word "unlock".

I guess I'm not the only one getting the run around. This device has great hardware and has been solid, but I don't like the idea of a company telling me how to use something I spent my hard earned fiats on! I am also waiting for a manager from oneplus to get back to me. Will keep ya'll posted!
OEM unlock is no longer greyed out on my phone.

I just submitted mine and will wait 7 days to get the unlock token.
