Hello there!
Novice rooter here. I've rooted a Samsung Galaxy S3 and an LG Gpad 2, but this HAM2 is been hard to root and hard to unlock the bootloader.
I was finally able to unlock the bootloader using superbass311's(??) tutorial, which requires you to use the chinese variant of the Huawei website in order to get the code to unlock the bootloader. Once I did that, I was able to flash the Cyanogenmod 12.1 (Android 5.1) on to the system using TWRP.
I thought doing all this would allow root access...but apparently it doesn't. I downloaded SuperSU and root checker, both agree that the phone is not rooted. I've used this guys thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390491) to try and root, using just about every program listed, but all failed. Yes, I have developer options and debug activated. And yes, I have all the phone drivers and ADB (I had to flash TWRP on...) It seems like most of the rooting programs want the phone to have kitkat4.4.2...is that the problem I'm having??
I would like to install a few programs, like Titanium backup and a CRT animation for screen off, but I can't install them until I have root access. Any advice?? Downgrade to kitkat, then root, then reinstall Cyanogemond 12.1???
Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks!

Cyanogen is already rooted, no need to flash anything after that. If you enable developer options, you will see root, just select apps. Or apps and adb, whatever you'd like. I went back to the stock ROM so I can't say verbatim. You can also flash the supersu zip from twrp. If you're already unlocked and have a custom recovery, being rooted is just a matter of flashing a rooted ROM (which you have done already) or installing a super user app.

Ah, yes. This was it. So silly...I used like cyanogenmod 6 on my old galaxy S3, and skipped all the way to this one...I don't think this option was even available then. Thanks so much man! You were a huge help with all of this! Was a freakin process to unlock the bootloader, holy cow. Good thing google translate exists!

Do you know if there is an app that exists to get the CRT screen off animation back? Or any screen off animations? I can't seem to find this functionality in CM12.1

I would post an image of it...but the site says I need to post 10 times before I can post a URL...just think of how the old tv's use to turn off, the big tube tv's. If you google CRT off animation, it should be the first video at the top of the search.
Cyanogenmod use to have it...just not aware of any apps that have this, I tried a few out, but they all suck.
I don't think CM does that anymore. Kinda useless trivial thing anyway.

Some would say nice rims on a car would be useless and trivial too...just looks cool man. Not sure why they'd take it out if it was already in...but I'm not a coder/programmer, I just want it back
Meh. CM is changing with the times. Plenty of other ROMs to choose from. Pac. Carbon. Crdroid. Ask a dev and maybe they will add it. It serves no purpose nor changes the function of the phone. Which is why CM doesn't mess with it. Which is why nice wheels aren't usually stock wheels. Lol. Easily added though.

Hi folks. I am not allowed to post in the developer forums since I am a new user so I figured I'd try here and hopefully some developer will be watching this forum.
I want to root my new Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4. I found the thread regarding the all in one tool for doing the root and installing recovery.
I followed the instructions, downloaded the tool, connected my phone, invoked the tool and selected Option 1 (Root my phone). The cursor skipped down one line and then nothing. I waited 15 minutes to make sure it wasn't doing anything but that's it, nothing.
I am new to Android and therefore new to Rooting so I thought this all in one tool would be perfect for me to get the job done. But I now have no idea why nothing happens when I invoke the tool and select Option 1.
Is there somebody in this forum who can help me please?
Thanks ............ Rob

Once you select Option 1, you need to go back to the main windows to uncheck one box (F something) and then click start before it does the rooting. I missed it yesterday also and just keep waiting until I realized there was a step I didn't do.

Did you enable USB debugging and third-party? USB debugging can be found by tapping on build number (i think) under about phone like 7 times. Developer options should appear in your settings after that. Third-party sources is under security I believe. Hope that helps!

I actually found my problem. Even though I had the usb debugging flag set, when I tried to root, a popup window came up in the background asking me to confirm that I wanted to enable usb debugging. Because it was in the background I kept missing it. Once I saw it and replied, everything worked perfectly. Hope this maybe helps someone.

Question about using the 3 in 1 tool
I am wondering a few things. I have the Samsung Galaxy 4 that has not been activated by Verizon yet. I want to use it on Straight Talk which uses GSM. After running this tool with the unlocking and rooting, will I be able to do this?

Root just allows you to hack the software on your phone, and the "unlock" refers to the bootloader. It does not unlock the phone for other carriers; this is done (from what I understand) by dialing a specific set of codes, generally provided to you by the original carrier of the phone if you have an account in good standing with them and you tell them you plan on travelling out of the country and need to use GSM. I have never needed to do this and as such only have a minor theoretical knowledge of the subject; I would appreciate it if somebody with more knowledge on this would confirm or deny my suspicion that you are better off trading the phone for an AT&T/T-Mobile one that actually was meant for GSM, or otherwise obtaining one.

This is the original bootloader; not the stock firmware. You need to flash this after you successfully root, start the phone, start SuperSU, and update the SU binary.
The full stock firmware is rather large and available here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2289325
might not know as much as i thought
thanks for telling me this first of all, so let me see if i get this right and im hoping you or someone will tell me if im correct or not. The all in one root method does that take care of the whole SuperSu, and update part or do i still need to do that after the root tool does its business? With unrooting do i just need to flash the stock firmware in odin use triangle away and i should be good correct, im not quite understanding the whole thats the original bootloader....the file that downloads is a .tar i thought that was firmware/rom....what do i need the original bootloarder for exactly? I honestly am to the point id be willing to pay someone who has a credible rep to video chat and walk me through it all

The original bootloader is locked and doesn't allow for us to use the exploit to install SuperSU and root the phone.
We are installing the unlocked bootloader via Odin...
Then running motochopper to exploit a vulnerability to gain root...
Then MANUALLY (this can't happen automagically) opening SuperSU and updating the SU binary...
Then rebooting the phone to make sure you still have root (personal preference)...
Then re-loading the original bootloader (we don't need the modified one anymore!) via Odin...
Then we are done!
The steps in the how to are very precise and accurate. If you would like to PM me, I am available for another hour or so.

Well said. Only correction is the bootloader still remains locked. The recoveries included are loki patched. This bypasses the bootloader. All roms and kernels are loki patched so flashing them is safe. This is as close as we're gonna get to an unlocked bootloader for now.
Ah. I was under the impression the bootloader was unlocked. Thanks for the info.

Hi guys. Im not going to lie, im a noob when it comes to rooting, so I turned here to ask for help. Now, let me explain my whole issue. Lets start with, i cant unlock my bootloader. I also cant get into flash mode on flashtool which would allow me to downgrade, and and then root my phone from there. So yeah, I cant do anything honestly. I would love it if someone would be kind enough to help me with a step by step instruction guide, or even live assistance?. I already google'd for about 2-3 hours now, and can't find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the reply!
I have attached a screenshot of what the window looks like.

Oh I also forgot to mention, just this morning I could root my phone with Kingo Root, but reading some negative stuff about it, I would still like to root it with the standard, old method of flashing etc, and I can't do some things I could on standard root.

Well, it's Xperia M2.
Let me clear that,
There are two types of Rooting methods available.
1. Permanent root
(Root access is available for ever, untill you unroot manually)
2. Temporary root
(Root access is gone, when you restart phone)
So, if you have successfully rooted your phone with Kingo Root, you no need to flash rooted kernel or firmware (its same with already root access available).
After rooting, you must have seen a app SuperSU or SuperUser or anyother that manages root permissions requested by apps that needs root (you need to grant permissions to let app work). If you do not see such any app, download it from play store.
I usually suggest Xperia users to root their devices with TowelRoot app. It is smart and simple and it does not contain any preloaded app for permissions (that means you can switch with SuperSU or Superuser)
Also, what things you could not do? let me know. I'll help you out

Again, thanks for the reply. Yup, I saw the SuperUser app, and the problems I have might not be phone breaking and such, but I would like to be able to do things like, change permissions of certain folders, which i cant do with the Kingo root, as it somehow denies the access to the folder, even tho I allowed root browser/es file manager root access. Overall, i think the problem is with the permission system Kingo has. I'd also like to mention that i would love to install Cyanogenmod on my device, but I will look into that myself @edit: Also, I would prefer to have a premanent root, instead of the towelroot and such.

You could just press the 'thumbs up' instead writing 'thanks' everytime.
Well, why do you want to change the permissions of the folders? You could mess-up your device if you change permissions for the root folders.
The problem looks strange. If you have rooted successfully and GRANTED permissions for ES file explorer through SuperUser, you should not get any problem changing permissions. Check in SuperUser app that you see ES file explorer.
Also try using other explorer app. I use 'Solid Explorer' and its great.
If you have temporarily rooted your device as I mentioned in above post, try using TowelRoot app for rooting your device permanently and manually download SuperSU.
If you want to use CyanogenMod (it'll be pre-rooted) you need to carry below steps;
1. Unlock your Bootloader
(Wipes everything)
2. Install recovery.
3. Take stock ROM backup.
4. Flash ROM.zip
5. Flash GApps (optional)
6. Wipe cache+dalvic+factory reset
7. Reboot

If your bootloader status says
'unlock bootloader allowed = NO'
Then you can't flash anything on your phone. Almost every ROM needs an unlocked bootloader. There will be some ROMs that can be flashed over locked bootloader but they will be stock based.
EDIT: You have a good Luck, you can flash recovery on Locked bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/development/d2303-clockworkmod-6-0-4-6-t3011821
If you flash recovery successfully, that means you can flash ROM

Yup, my bootloader says it can't be unlocked. Anyways, i tried the link yo usent me, but it comes up with an error, saying "device not found". I went into recovery mode on my phone, but i assume it might be the adb driver issue? I will try to reinstall it, and get back to you.

It can be a drivers issue. Install PC companion and connect your phone, let PCC install essential drivers and after that follow the same steps for installing recovery.
If you post any screenshot, that would be better.
Mkay, it worked now after i reinstalled the device in Sony PC companion. Heres a screenshot of what the CWM cmd window looks like: "prntscr DOT com/8fth1u". I assume this is good? So, all i have to do now is just download Cyanogen Mod and flash it, right?

Yup! Everything looks good. Just try to enter into recovery before downloading CM.
1.Switch off your phone and wait for 10 sec
2. switch on
3. When you see LED, try pressing either of vol buttons.
Hate to rain on the parade, but CM and CM based roms don't work with locked bootloaders for that phone, despite having CWM. It should say in the title of the thread whether it'll work with locked bootloaders.

Yeah you are right! Purely CM doesn't work on locked bootloader. But there must be any ROM available that is based on CM or even other ROMs that has some CM features.
I went through a few threads in that forum, Omni, CM, PAC, etc and all mentioned needing unlocked bootloader. Best bet is a good stock rom and Xposed to enable other features.

I saw it's twitter feed say that my phone model was rooted. I tested it and it said it worked but it just rebooted. If it did work I suspect it's work was rewritten upon reboot.

did you try with KingoRoot? or IRoot?
latest update for it was on 2015, it might be Old.
VWell, KingoRoot fails and then crashes. IRoot loaded my phone with Chinese apps and then failed. KingRoot says the device isn't supported. I'm kind of at a loss of what to try next, if there is anything.
Also, yeah, thanks for pointing out it was old. I actually didn't realize that.
My device is a TracFone ZTE Majesty Pro LTE [Z799VL][Android 6.0.1]

OK, now we're talking, you can't root android 6.0+ with any one click root app, as far as i know, the device is new, you will have to wait till a custom Recovery is built for the phone, or you can build it your self, there are tutorials to build TWRP for general and also for MTK phones (In case your phone have one).
TWRP tutorial:

Alright, I'll look into it and see if I can accomplish anything. Thank you!

King root will root MANY phones with 6.0+and it's one click, but the older one clicks will not root 6.0+ however kingroot will NOT root this phone. This phone has a boot loader. And before anyone says anything, TRUE some phones, DONT have to have unlocked boot loaders to be rooted, but some do. As far as a custom recovery, exactly how you'd flash it to the device without root access I'm not sure. I even tried the old old zte merrit process for ginger bread, but you need to be really familiar with adb etc to use it. It's possible, just have to wait for some one that is a little better than me.. lol I noticed something in the build.prop that may be it, not sure. But it's no way to change that for sure without root. So not worth mentioning.
I cant seem to find anything on this thing. My searches keep bringing up other Alcatel devices or the Oneplus 3T. I got this tablet from tmobile for free and I was only planning on using it to mirror in my cars android auto.
I have tried kingroot and the process just sits at 1%
Please let me know if you need any other tablet information.
its running android 8.1.0
model 9027W
If for some reason this cant be rooted does anyone have any cheap tablet suggestions that can be rooted easily?
I have tried every method suggested to root mine and nothing. There is an update that i need to charge tablet up so i can install and will attempt them all again. I am running a samsung SM-T357T that is rooted and twrp installed till I can root this tablet . Hope to be soon.

I would like to see this as well. T-mobile really locked this device down and even took away the built in call kit as it's VOLTE.
Would SP Flashtool work as it's a mediatek device ?
Likewise searching for a means to root my Alcatel 37 9027W. T-mobile seems to have modded the android 8.1.0. in such a way
making it impossible to remove or otherwise stop google news feed running constantly in the background.
Sure would be nice to root this puppy.
pls have anyone found a solution to root this phone?. i'm trying to unlock. but everytime i use sigmakey, once its get to 'unlocking', it shows phone servicing has stopped and the software exits its self. or do anyone know any other solution for unlock that does not include rooting?

Interested in a way to get rooted for the device.

Guys please, I need urgent help, I tried flashing gsi, but they didn't boot, I forgot to take a backup earlier, and the device is kind of bricked now, can anyone please provide me with the stock rom, it's a request please..

This works but we need a custom recovery or rooted boot image.
I was able to get a permanent root through a link to a reply on that thread.
Follow the instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...atek-armv8-t3922213/post79626434#post79626434
I haven't fully tested the extent of the root, but I was able to get a prompt, root checker confirmed root, and Magisk is reported as installed. Obviously this will not unlock the bootloader or allow for a custom recovery (that I know of) so we will have to wait until someone can get fastboot working on this device for that.
Concur. Root works!
I used this tablet today . Very slow and laggy. Defiantly needs a new rom. Has anybody been able to flash any modules through Magisk or remove any of the T-mobile bloat ?
Found this thread looking for a root method for my Joytab. I just disabled the "Modify system settings" and " Draw over other apps" settings for Smart Manager and my Joytab is definitely way less laggy. No root required.
no twrp for 3t8?
Hello,
I have unlocked bootloader for my P Smart 2019 POT-LX1 EMUI 9.0.1.152 (C432E8R1P12) using paid service.
I thought the life would become easier to root this phone now, unfortunately no..
With the help of XDA member KevMetal I have tried so many things to root this phone or even flash a custom rom. Something is preventing to let my phone boot up with new system.img, also no magisk build is working if I put anything other than original img files phone is bootlooping and going to eRecovery. The only custom thing that was almost working was TWRP for Honor device without touchscreen working (borrowed from forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8x/how-to/guide-how-to-unlock-root-honor-8x-t3864348).
Can anyone help to make Magisk work for this device? Or how to install custom rom? I am stuck now with unlocked bootloader and no root access :S
May I know where did you unlock the bootloader from? Did you tried openkirin?

Hello guys,
I registrated here in xda, to make ppl know that there is a possibility to bypass payment service for unlocking bootloader for free. It's silly to pay'em for administrate my phone, that I already paid for the device.
I think I got a solution that permits to obtain unlock code. The simple thing to do is download the app called 'Device Connect' from f-droid
Once opened, just tap settings on the slide menu, and there is Device UIN number and Device Password. I think one of those is that damn code.I didn't tried this yet and don't have 100% sure is correct code, but I think it worth a try. Only huawei make pay for unlock bootloader? Its first and last time I have bought an Huawei Device, not because politics, but because of their choice to close bootloader, so their bloatware can collect data, but even without root there is a possibility to clean the mess. First of all, Huawei isn't charging you for bootloader codes, the 3rd party programs that can unlock Huawei's bootloaders are.
Second, other manufacturers prevent bootloader unlocking on some of their phones.
Thirdly, bootloader codes aren't that short. UIN numbers from that app have nothing to do with bootloaders, try reinstalling the app and the code will change.
Example code: 9784200582026427 (P Smart 2018)
Only way that this phone can be unlocked is with PotatoNV and HCU ($19) as far as I know, but in the future there might be cheaper alternatives like DCUnlocker ($4).
And finally, Huawei has probably removed the command for unlocking the bootloader (fastboot flashing unlock) on EMUI 10+ so stay on EMUI 9.1 if you wish to unlock in the future.
Don't get me wrong I don't support Huawei for not allowing us to unlock the bootloader its extremely scummy on their side.
Just chill out and wait for people to find out a method for unlocking, or buy a Xiaomi phone and unlock it the next day.
Can someone give me a download link the 9.0 android rom for this device ? I want root it and i have to downgrade from android 10 .
