I received an OTA update and during the update process (or after, I was really paying attention to the screen), the phone turned off and won't turn back on. There's no indication of it turning on nor any indication it's alive. It was plugged during the process so it couldn't have died in the middle of it.
I tried searching up ways to fixing the issue but "fixes" don't work like holding the power button + down volume for 3 minutes didn't work. I also tried contacting Motorola and they couldn't really help either. I had the bootloader unlocked but there's no way it could have caused this big of an issue, right?
Anyway, anyone know of a way to fix this problem? I miss the battery life on this thing. I believe the model number is an X1527 (Canada, Wind Mobile ver)

Hey there guys just came from the Samsung Captivate and ended up here with Moto Droid Razr. The problem the first phone I got reboots on it's own and I had to end up manually turning it back on, this happened a least 3 times before I returned it. The replacement phone was complete stock nothing was flashed like the first one. This second one worked for a day no reboots but on the second day I picked it up thought it had entered stand by, pushed the standby power button nothing. The phone shut down completely and no matter what I tried I didn't get it to turn on including the Volume down and power button. Plugged the phone into the charger nothing, plugged it into the computer via USB nothing but a white LED light turned on. Pushed the power button and volume down, up both buttons nothing worked. Did anyone else encounter these problems or am I just this lucky getting two phones completely different in defects? I hope the third one works because this is starting to really question the reliability of this phone.

I've had my phone for a month now, and haven't had an auto re-boot yet.....
Sounds like you just got unlucky, as the people I've talked to that have this phone, have been great with reliability. That's very odd that you're having this issue.
Now, I am on Verizon, so the units I've seen are all the XT912 units, and the Roger's one is an XT910. I've been reading more and more about the XT910's seeming to have more issues, at least that's the impression I get from the online community.
You're probably right that the XT910 has more issues, it's also only 4G version from what I can see through Rogers. I think the Xt912 is the LTE version of the phone, I wish we had that phone instead. Rogers is rolling out LTE in Canada and I would of thought they would carry the XT912 instead. Well who knows mayber Rogers has something else in store like the newer version the Maxx. Like I told the CSR if the third phone is the same I have no choice but to exchange it for some other device maybe the Samsung S II LTE. I mean that phone only has a 800X400 AMOLED screen so low res compared to the Razr. I'm not sure why Rogers still don't carry the Nexus but again Bell here likes to have the exclusive rights to new phones much like what other US carriers like to do. Oh well we'll have to see my phone arrives today and I'll give it another shot.
I tried to turn the screen off, but it keeps turning back on. I've had this issue for a while and looked it up. Most people said it was a hardware issue, but the thing is...now it will not turn off the screen at all. I know the power button works because I can long press it to get the power menu as well as hold to restart, but not turn off the screen. Also, I can activate the "lock" feature in TWRP as well with the power button. I had this issue on an older rom, so I wiped EVERYTHING and installed revolt, yet I still had this issue and as I was typing this, I got the new issue of it never turning off. I don't know what's causing it. Any ideas? It's been happening for a few days now.
Attempt 2: Now I have the stupid turning off issue. Now, every time I press the power button the opposite happens. It turns on for a second and then turns back off. I'm thinking that this is a hardware issue. Anyone else disagree?
Attempt 3: Back to same issue, turns off and turns right back on in like 2 seconds. Going to call Samsung and see what this is about.
[EDIT]: I should mention, I have the same vibrate issue described in this thread. I'm suspecting a stuck power button. Great. Time to talk AT&T into giving me an early upgrade.
A stuck power button won't allow your phone to boot up completely. So you're probably ok there if you can boot up and type in an app.
You do have an issue though. Something got borked up somewhere. I would try going back to stock completely.
Backup important files, wipe EVERYthing on the phone at least twice. Then using Samsung kies on a PC do an emergency firmware update. Once your update completes perform another factory reset and see how she's working. If you still have a problem then contact Samsung. If no problem, enjoy your phone!
Eh, I tried the wiping everything (internal, not the sd card), but I guess I shall try moving it to stock as well. Do you suggest keeping TWRP or should I install stock kernel, recovery, and do a firmware update? I might also dump my phone in rice to see if maybe some water got in there (doubt it though). Also, I might be screwed if it's otherwise. Been over a year since I bought the note.
Also, are you sure it's not stuck (partially or sometimes maybe)? My phone is constantly rebooting on and off for no reason and sometimes this happens, other times the power button is okay. But when it does reboot, it vibrates a lot. Sometimes it'll just keep vibrating and never reboot like it's turning off and on constantly and I have to press and hold the power button a few times before it starts booting again.
EDIT: I also realize it could be a combination of issues and one of these issues might be a battery one. I do have another battery and I can feel a noticeable bulge so I'll go home, change the roms, battery, and do a firmware update and see how it goes.
Would just like to add that flashing an official firmware through kies did not fix my problem. Furthermore, now I'm getting the invalid sim problem and it keeps asking me to restart. I had this problem before and just recently (a week ago) got a new sim and now it's back. Maybe it's an hardware issue?
so to begin with as much info as possible, this began yesterday when I noticed my power button was unresponsive. I tried issuing it to turn the screen off and turn back on, but nothing. So I held it down and eventually was able to force restart it believing the device was just being unresponsive. The next thing I knew, it wasn't turning on and it was simply "beating." By beating I mean the phone is off, whenever the battery is in, it just stays on a blank screen, it might load the samsung logo, but ultimately it is a blank screen. Something extremely strange is that though the phone is off and unresponsive the damn thing is pulsating. As if it had a heart beat lol, but it just vibrates every 3 seconds. Has anyone seen or heard of this? My research and found that the typical problem is a faulty power switch which is what I'm being led to. I found suggestions, none work. There is one I have yet to try. It is this one, /watch?v=3Glllc7bEJs this is quite an extreme solution that I dont mind going to since I am due for an upgrade any how. I just want to remove a lot of important information that is on this phone before I upgrade. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
TL;DR
Phone wont turn on, blank black screen with phone vibating every 3 seconds. Potentially power switch, Need help recovering data.
Thanks!
EDIT: The problem is called a "boot-loop"

Wrong forum, this is i9300 International you have the i535 Verison you need to ask here
So about 3 weeks ago, I dropped my HTC so now I have a large crack running down the middle of the screen. However I haven't had any other problems up until last night. The ringtone volume turns itself up without me even touching the phone every now and then and once it does that, the power button stops working. But it does work again once the screen is switched off, meaning I can turn in on but not off. The power button functions fine until the volume button acts up the first time after restart.
I factory reset my phone thinking it may have had something to do with the software but the problem came back within the hour when all the updates started rolling in. Once it did, i booted it into safemode and the problem seemed to stop but I don't know what's causing it. Could it be an actual bug in an update or is the damage to the screen simply too much for the phone itself? Has anyone ever dealt with a problem like this? Any help will be appreciated as I know it's expensive to fix these things and I don't want to go to the shop to get it fixed only for the problem to come back as it's software related.
Hey,
I've received miui 10 stable update today, but after updating my phone turns off automatically after locking my phone.
Locked bootloader.
I've not got the scheduled power off enabled.
Nor my cover is pressing the button.
Can someone help, I've tried formatting from fastboot still same issue
Is anyone using Ok Google on 10.0.6.0, the moment I turn on Ok Google my phone switches off as soon as I lock the phone.
Can someone verify it.
Happens with me. Initially i noticed my phone lying switched off on its own about once a day. Today, after a month since I noticed it, it switched off in my hand. It wouldn't stay on unless I connected to a charger.
This isn't related to ok Google though
Probably not software though, phone switched off even in fastboot mode.
I'm hoping it's just a battery issue, although wouldn't be able to confirm since I can't go to a service centre atleast for a few weeks
Don't know how my phone automatically switched off . Even I don't use automatic timer for phone off and on .tell me the solution please
