Hello dear XDA Devs,
Is there a fix for screen ghosting (random touch input) for a ZU? Mine often goes crazy if i have warm hands and come near to my device whith them. Same happens if i breath a little bit on the display.
Water marks are white and the device has Root + Locked bootloader
Thanks and Greedings

Firstly try to clean the screen without any stain or greases...
Try to tweak the sensitivity by changing the figure in /system/usr/idc/max1187x_touchscreen_0.idc (touch.filter.level = 5)...
Try to play around to get the best for ur device...
BTW white water marks due to water damage device??

This device has no water damage, that's what i wanted to say . Because of touch.filter.level: Sorry that i didn't sayed that i already tryed this whith best results @ 7, which is too high for a pen input, but the device doesn't go crazy that often.
Yesterday i've seen that you can fix this on Nexus 4 by reisolating a cable. If this is the case on ZU i'm gonna send it in for Warranty.

Better just send back to Sony...
I'm facing similar problems with my ZU =/
After I've tried to replace a protective skin for my display, the phone started to present ghost touching. I mean, a LOT of ghost touching. As my warranty expired a few months ago, I sent the phone to a private maintenance and now they want to replace the whole screen.
Do you think I'll have to replace the screen or maybe there's a way out of this? Here in Brazil, replacing the screen can be as expansive as buying a new phone (and I must confess that I'm tempted to forget about my Z Ultra and buy a Z2), so if I could fix this in some another way... well, that would be terrific.
Thanks in advance!

maybe this will help. Its the Fix i found for the Nexus 7
I started to have a lot of that Phantom touches after taking off my aftermarket screen protector. **** was so annoying. I still have the anti shatter film but don't want to mess with that crap so I installed another screen protector and everything is normal again.
It has been 1 month since installing the new screen protector and no ghost touches.

Well... I must confess that the idea of installing a new screen protector never occurred to me
I guess this could worth the shot, actually. Anyway, I've ordered a new display (got a really good price... way way cheaper than the official maintenance was charging), so if the new screen protector won't work out, I'll proceed to replace the whole display.
Hello, I had this smartphone for a month, but I read on the internet that, when the Xperia Z2 is submerged under water, the camera becomes blurred.
I want to know if this problem has come on all devices, or only on bad product. I followed the tutorial to find if my device is isolated pressure sensor (the number changes when I press my device).
So someone used Z2 underwater? How did you find problems after use?
Z2 camera shouldn't blurred if submerged in water it's either
1- you didn't properly closed sdcard or charging doors and water gone inside
2- your device has build quality issues
Th3 fact that you checked the pressure sensor and you found it working as intended is that it's th3 first reason which is your fault
I used my z2 multiple times under water and never blurred my camera or anything
I submerged my Z2 in water, took some photo's with flash and without it and they were perfectly clear
No blurred photos. So I guess if your test was succesfull, your Z2 is waterproof (Mine was for repair and still after that my waterproof is working perfectly well ;D) and you can use it underwater and take photos
Thanks for the reply, i also bought the magnetic dock station to not stress the fisical closure. Ok i tested it under water...... it's all right
Hi, this is how it has become the camera and the flash led after a few minutes of use in water, not water but only moisture, believe is normal considering that the water in which the smartphone was warm enough? Or do you believe there is an infiltration of water?
Well I am sorry to say it seems like your phone is defective. That is not normal
So i will contact the assistance to change it....
My smartphone is made in stock : 14W51
So did you do the pressure sensor test before submerging it into water? Did the pressure rise?
I hope they exchange your phone, please keep us updated
I tested my Z2 before submerge it under water. When i pull my smartphone the pressure sensor display a number higher than i don't pull Z2 , but the number return the same of before , after any second of pression.
Hello people!
I just dropped my phone display first into the floor.
The only visible damage is a tiny arced crack at the right edge of the screen, but that was enough to screw up the whole touch screen because the phone seems to activate touch around the crack, which leads me to my first question:
1 - Is there a way to disable part of the touch screen?
I can live without touch in the area of the damage, just not without any working touch
2 - Is there a way to hardware test using a PC to evaluate the extent of the damage?
3 - Do I buy just the screen, the screen + LCD or screen + LCD + frame?
4 - How do I know which OEM of Ebay to buy? Can I trust the ones saying it's an original Sony Screen + LCD?
Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions. I do believe there are more people out there with same or very similar questions.
HI,
I had craked my z2 screen twise
in my experience u need to replace the whole LCD screen .
i had craked my Z before, but for Z , the crak didnt affect other parts , you can use the phone , but for z2 no hope.

Thank you so much for giving me the answer I wanted to hear. Unfortunately I can't find any videos on how to do this for the Z2. Have you done it? I'm curious to know whether the display is allover glued to the digitizer as in the case of the Z1 or if it's just glued around the corners of the screen as in the M2. Mind you that this is simply observations I've made from watching youtube videos, so the above mentioned information might not be correct.
man, u cannot separate the display and digitizer . its a single glass. for Z2. u need to replace the single glass
You could try finding parts from aliexpress, try looking through the feedbacks before ordering.
Or if you are not too bothered by the cracks you could just put on a screen protector or a tempered glass screen protector.
Try going into youtube and search witrigs for teardown and repair videos.
Wish you good luck! ?

Hi guys,
My Screen cracked, i order a new screen. I install it right with instructions. LCD screen works about 1 minutes, but now the phone has so called ghost touches.
What might be a problem? LDC-screen is broken?

Yeah!
I did take a chance and purchased a new glass without display. Good news is I never got an opportunity to use it, so I might be able to return it. Bad new is I'm now buying a front glass and lcd.
Even though it might technically be possible to just exchanging the front screen, I would say it's highly improbable that you will successfully do so.
Judged by my level of technical tinkering, I would say that a vast majority of the people in this forum will probably fail in exchanging front glass without exchanging lcd.
I'm not saying this to put anyone down, but I'm giving you the advice I wish I would've gotten before getting over-confident.
So for goodness sake,
BUY FRONT GLASS+DIGITIZER+LCD, and save yourself both time, headache, and possibly money
Hi, i'm waiting for my Z2 replacement screen and i have a question for those who have changed it, does the sensitivity of the touch screen is the same like the original? I mean the option that you can use the phone with gloves...
Thanks!
How much did it cost u, repairing the screen

lookup firmware version on settings->about and try updating the phone
connect it to a pc that has Sony PC companion and the software should recognize the phone as Sony Xperia Z2 (D6503/D6502)
also check the body of the phone see if its intact whether it looks like its been opened before or not
also test the weight of the phone on a weighing scale and check if it is exactly 163 g (5.75 oz) without screen protector i guess
check the internet for photos of Xperia Z2 the color you are buying and check the phone with the photos if they look like the same thats it
it is very unlikely to open z2 replace hardware and reassemble it you cant get away with that it will most definitely leave a mark
+ check the waterproof ability (coz thats important)
There are multiple ways of checking whether it's a genuine phone.
First of all waterproofness. You can check that by testing pressure sensor. Just Google for it and you will know how to do it.
Another thing is that the device model should be d6503/2, but this one may get faked easily.
So test the pictures. Take some picture in manual mode (20mpx) and check the resolution. The resolution should be over 5000x3000 and at least 5MB.
Under right flap there's additional information about the phone, you just have to pull it out.
Anyway, there are so many ways to check whether the phone is genuine.
If you only get an opportunity to hold it in your hand you will notice it.
But for me the waterproofness test (with pressure sensor) would be the main deal breaker. Fake phones aren't waterproof (or don't have pressure sensor).

Is pressure sensor an app?? if it is i have to install that on the z2 and check the pressure i guess..is there a standard pressure limit or amount of pressure that should exist in z2?? (Sorry to bother u..googled it but not so sure what to do)

NO need to install anything.
On the device, goto the phone app and type *#*#7378423#*#*
A new app will open. Go to Service Tests, and look for Pressure Sensor.
Make sure all flaps are closed. Apply pressure to the touch screen of the phone. If the device is air tight, the values on the screen should go up a bit, then fall to the starting values. If you stop applying pressure, the values should change again. If it does this, then it is air tight, and that also means it is water tight.

Whilst in the Service Menu, goto Service Tests, Security.
If the bootloader has never been unlocked, then it should show a bunch of lines of text, each ending with [Key OK][Active].
If the bootloader was relocked by restoring the TA image, then it should show the same thing as above.
If the bootloader was relocked without restoring the TA image, or is still currently unlocked, then it should be different from above.
I got some dust particles on the inside of the lens which really annoys me. Due to this the camera does not focus correctly.
I really want to keep the phone waterproof so i am afraid to take it apart to clean it. Anyone experience similar issues or even swapped the backcover? Any recommendations for a backcover that ensures waterproof ability after swapping it?
thanks!

If you're getting dust under the lens you're obviously not water tight. I have ordered a replacement back and it cracked just picking it up. I don't know how fragile the original is but I'd be very careful while removing it. New seals can be bought for a few bucks.
not sure where this came from - the body is 100% waterproof...maybe "dust" particle is not the correct explanation
maybe is scratch dots from keys in you pocket?
it abit look like dust...
i mixed my pockets by mistake and left few dots maybe u did it lots of times.. ( i know the lens is plastic and not scratch resistance ) so i try to avoid keys in the same pocket

the scratches on the outside of the lens are no problem since the sony coated this and also polishing is working quite well. also i checked this several times with a magnifier.
i have uploaded a picture of the particle that causes the faulty autofocus. at the picture on the right you can see that this is on the inside of the lens.
since the phone is waterproof this is quite clearly a production fault but since i need the phone for my everyday work and life issuing a rma at sony is no option for me.
i was just wondering is someone else experienced anything similar or swapped the backcover and tested waterproof
You can test your waterproofness of your phone to do the pressure test in the service menu.
Go to dialer and dial *#*#service#*#*, go to service test and then pressure sensor. The value indicated on the screen should increase by pressing on your screen when the phone is still waterproof.

How much does yours go up? Mine started at 997 millbar and goes up to 1002 millbar max when I started seeing discoloration from pushing the LCD too hard.

that's fine. Mine is also just a few millibar. try it with the simtray flap open. It won't increase a bit.

Hi
I have had the same kind of dust in my XZ5
I sent it back and they have exchanged with a new device.
Manufacturing issue... It could happen
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA-Developers mobile app
since sony support couldn't offer me an adequate solution for their manufacturing error I decided to find a solution by myself.
primary most important was for me that i do not open the device.
I got rid of the particle by freezing the phone in the freezer for 20min and tapping on the lens. The particle fell off and now somewhere i do not care about )
if someone has a similar issue this might be also an alternative solution
Same problem here. It supprises me the presition in which this product was conceived with programmed obsolescence. Just after guaranty ended I began to notice blurs and dust.
I suppose gaskets became less performant as they get harder and they can't hold pressure changes anymore, like when you take a plane or enter a tunnel in a train.

I have the same translucent gray dust spots on my rear camera, and tapping and bumping with strenght makes them moving around. Of course this is programmed obsolescence.
Moreover they fill phones with glue and adhesives for "water-proofness" purposes... but after 2 years of daily use, noone sane minded would submerge any phone and if you have the need, you can't easily fix anything inside the phone or change battery if you aren't a technician , because you have to use professional tools to melt glue and move parts.
That's the current world of "water-proof", thin smartphones.
Something must change if we don't want to swim in oceans made of electronic rubbish in the near future.
