This is mainly for T-Mobile people who have no band12 on custom rom.

Yeah because nobody else ever needs a flashable modem file. Besides that, nobody was stepping up to test for the op.

Sure and I flashed stock and then updated via OTA and restored my rom, point is its exact same modem like on custom roms but something is not allowing for band12.
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
I don't think it's the ota. I think it's the ota updater script. It deletes old files, the installs new modem files, and set permissions. In that order. I wander if deleting the files is the key?

The zip worked fine for me. I am using Sabissimo's stock/rooted/odex. No band 12 prior to flashing, band 12 active after flashing. Thanks!

I just flashed the rooted/odex version and booted into the phone and set up my account. Rebooted and flashed the modem and the IMEI SV still shows as 01. Did you first install the stock image and then flash the rooted/odex version?

Yes.
Custom roms do not contain modem files. Would cause way too many issues with users.

Yup that makes sence, but still does not explain why even after flashing people can't access band12.
Could someone perhaps creat a flashable zip for the XT1572 (Style) with band 20?

I am pretty sure this is the official Modem that Motorola released with Marshmallow.
Any band that motorola allows to be available is available, The only reason it says w/band 12,
is because that wasn't available on the original modems that were released for Lollipop

The modem given in the OP is for the Pure (the XT1575), which is for the USA. That modem does not include band 20, as 20 is only used on Europe. That is why people are looking for a TWRP flashable zip of the European (XT1572) (Moto X Style) MM modem.
Can this cause issues on an AOSP based ROM, I mean I know it's meant for custom ROMs but I flashed the zip from the TruePureXMM forumn and the VoLTE fix and it's caused nothing but issues for me ever since. Is there anyway to reverse it?

So this can cause issues, would reverts back to the old modem fix these issues by chance?

you might want to look into the the following thread then:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/development/rom-indian-marshmallow-variants-t3253684
@AnimusVoxx
If you have a full backup of a previous rom, Restoring that backup will revert the modem.
For the USA version I am running this modem without any issues at all.

OK so where I am at right now is I have flashed the stock MM image to my phone, installed twrp, then backed up everything, then wiped it and installed AICP, so would you say it would be safe to flash this modem? And it won't cause me to have complete signal loss? Also I'm not sure if it matters but here is a picture of my current baseband and whatnot.

The modem listed on your screenshot is the Marshmallow modem,
that is what should be installed on your phone at the moment,
there should be no reason to flash a modem again.
Also the screenshot shows the Lollipop version installed of AICP (10.0)
You can install the AICP 11.0, it won't change the modem
The original modem is
M8992_1255309.10.01.68R
Marshmallow Modem is
M8982_1255331.29.01.88.02R
If your phone is running with no issues in regards to phone calls, data,
On AICP 10,
Then the modem is good for your phone.
It will work just as well in MM, except for specific issues the devs are working on for some carriers.

I am having issues with my sim card being read, I think related to the bootloader/modem.
My modem/baseband is M8992_1255331.29.01.88.02R SUPER NA ( I don't know why it says SUPER NA)
My Bootloader is A0.48.
I know with my Moto G 4G, the issue was with the Bootloader where my sim card wasn't being read.

What is this?
It's a modem and kernel for your Japanese market SC-02C that is ODIN flashable.
usual disclaimer applies, I'm not responsible for any STD's you get as a result of flashing this.
Flash this in ODIN AFTER you flash the ROM of your choice, and you will have good reception and working GPS.
Info:
baseband SC02COMKF2
kernel [email protected] #2
You should also NOT see a yellow triangle at the Docomo screen on boot.
Here it is:
http://blacklinux.com/pages/public/computers/android/SC02C/SC02C_ModemandKernelOnlyODIN_v1.tar
md5 ae6b67667f09264551914ee17132d50e
Flash as a PDA in ODIN.
NOT USING AN SC02C and not sure what this is? IGNORE IT and leave it alone!
I've tested this to work on Cognition and Litening so far. works fine.
For those of you that are bone stock, from the factory and want root. All you gotta do is flash CF-Root-SGS2_XW_ODD_KE8-v4.0-CWM4 with ODIN then flash this.
Great! thanks for putting this together. Beats the manual method.
For those outside japan that don't know, we need this specific kernel/baseband because its the only kernel in existence that supports the TV tuner on the japanese S2 and the baseband gives optimal 3G performance here, so we usually need both of these after applying a custom rom, and the Odin files haven't been supplied on the Kies servers yet (these were ripped out of live phones).
in my testing, GPS also will not work without the SC02C kernel installed. Just the baseband and it won't work. no chance in hell (I think?) of getting an overclock kernel with GPS drivers created unless we get a source from NTT, but I doubt that will ever happen.
Should probably include a warning not to flash this on anything but an SC-02C. Wouldn't kill it but wouldn't have any beneficial effects and would probably necessitate a full rom reflash to recover unless the user saved a baseband image.

kinda sorta. The above listed kernel/baseband combo pack doesn't work. If you flash it over your CM7 it won't boot because the kernel and OS are mismatched.
I've tarred this file:
http://blacklinux.com/pages/public/computers/android/SC02C/SC02C_ModemOnlyODIN_v1.tar
It's the same as the original one, but it's just the modem. No Kernel.
I'm running CM7 109 with this flashed over it right now and reception is great, but no GPS/TV since those drivers are in the SC02C kernel.
recap:
CM7 as is = works on SC02C but 0-1 bar reception max since the baseband is incorrect. No GPS/TV.
CM7 with SC02C modem flashed = Everything works great, but no GPS/TV.
CM7 with SC02C kernel/modem flashed = Won't boot.
I've also noticed that the camera works fine in still, but when I switch to video it force closes. Probably more CM7 specific though...
Cheers!
ps, i'm grabbing SC02COMKJ4 right now and going to see if I can get that to work with CM7. Doubtful though. What's the latest full release for the SC02C from docomo? 2.3.5?
*EDIT* SC02COMKJ4 kernel doesn't work with CM7 109.

Well I got this device from a great friend of mine @DowntownJeffBrown. Its a T-Mobile Vibrant (US). Now I'm using it in India.
It came to me with a CM10.1 ( thanks to my friend there ). My previous phone was a tiny Galaxy Y. It had just GB and no ICS. We just got CM7 a month back. After using that... the transaction is a bit difficult. (I just got the phone yesterday though ).
My questions are just basic noob ones but reading through guides here..most of them are solved. I still have some thus the thread. Well let me start.
As I have CM10.1 now... If I have to change the ROM...do I HAVE to flash froyo? And after the Odin... can i directly flash the ROM.zip or do I have to install a kernel or flash a CM7 or a CM9 or a CM10 before proceeding?
Can I get a temporary CWM or is it available only with kernels?
ROM zips come with an included kernel? If then... Can I flash them directly from froyo?
I read in one guide that I'll have to flash the SAME Rom.zip twice (after a reboot ). Is it necessary? And can someone explain why that is important?
Can I flash the modems? I saw that the modems listed are for US ONLY. Well the phone was from the US but right now its half way around the world...will it work?
What is the necessity of a bootloader?
I appreciate every help I get

Hi,
Q: As I have CM10.1 now... If I have to change the ROM...do I HAVE to flash froyo? And after the Odin... can i directly flash the ROM.zip or do I have to install a kernel or flash a CM7 or a CM9 or a CM10 before proceeding?
A: NO. you can flash ROM without flashing froyo (go back to stock before flashing a new ROM). You can directly flash through CWM the ROM.zip
Q:Can I get a temporary CWM or is it available only with kernels?
A:There are two options here. Choose which is best for you, before you start.
ROOT ONLY METHOD:
A – This is an update.zip (633KB) that roots your phone only. You can then install Rom Manager from the Market to flash CWR (Clockwork Recovery) and install custom ROMs.
INSTALL CLOCKWORK RECOVERY AND FLASH A ROM THAT WILL GIVE ROOT ACCESS (MY PREFERRED METHOD):
B – use the other update.zip (1.7MB) and this will flash CWR for you – allowing you to immediately flash a custom ROM.. I do this because it's faster.
source: ★★★ NOOB GUIDE :: Root :: Odin :: Files :: Guides ★★★
Q:ROM zips come with an included kernel? If then... Can I flash them directly from froyo?
A: withing a ROM the kernel is also included. But It can be changed later by flashing a different appropriate kernel. YES, you can directly flash from froyo without any issue.
Q:I read in one guide that I'll have to flash the SAME Rom.zip twice (after a reboot ). Is it necessary? And can someone explain why that is important?
A: Yes it is needed sometimes when you get a boot loop after flashing a new ROM b/c to update the recovery.
Q:Can I flash the modems? I saw that the modems listed are for US ONLY. Well the phone was from the US but right now its half way around the world...will it work?
A:YES. you can flash modems. Only thing matters is choose a modem based on your OS (ICS/JB/CM7 etc)
Q:What is the necessity of a bootloader?
A:Bootloaders were introduced for solve recovery and rainbow issues on Gingerbread ROMs.
When we got Gingerbread ROMs, we also faced the issue of not being able to see the Recovery on the GB Kernels and having to see our screens go funny which were safely called Rainbows! Well, no more !!

Great!
Let me clear myself...
1. I don't need to flash froyo every time I want to flash a new ROM. Even if I'm on any ROM(GB or ICS or JB )
I just boot boot into recovery >wipe data and system and Mount everything back flash my new Rom and done? And oh... Flash the zip again.
( how do I know when I have to flash it twice?? )
And about bootloaders... Do I HAVE to flash them? Can I do stuff without them? ( i never had to deal with it before )
And...
Since the phone is a US phone... Which firmware do I chose? US or Indian (if any is available that is )

Bootloaders are unlocked so that u can flash things like new radio's. So if u are only going to flash roms and kernels u will never have to worry about the bootloader.
I'm pretty sure that radio's are universal as in there is no Indian radio and USA radio. There is just vibrant radio's that work all around the world universally. But I may be wrong this because it's been so long since I used the vibrant.
As far as flashing a new Rom you should just have to reboot into recovery, wipe data and system, then just be able to flash a new Rom. I'm not quit sure why that one Rom u showed me tells u to flash it twice. But again it's been so long since I used the vibrant that I'm not sure. I can tell you this when I flashed cm10.1 on it before I sent it to u I just use these steps
Reboot recovery
Wipe data/system/caches
Flash Rom
Flash gapps
Reboot
But let some of these guys clarify it for u because they are the experts on this phone at this point not me.
Cheers brother

Q: 1. I don't need to flash froyo every time I want to flash a new ROM. Even if I'm on any ROM(GB or ICS or JB )
I just boot boot into recovery >wipe data and system and Mount everything back flash my new Rom and done?
A: Yes. you don't need to flash froyo (which means ODIN back to stock) prior flashing a ROM. You can simply boot into recovery and do a FULL wipe (data/system, cache, dalvik) and if needed format the system under mounts (please refer the installation guide provided with the ROM ). Also re-flashing the ROM depends. It will not happen all time. BUT if it has to be done it is inserted in the OP. Further If the 1st boot after flashing ROM is unsuccessful don't panic and do a battery pull and re-flash the ROM.zip b/c sometimes recovery needs to updated
Q:And about bootloaders... Do I HAVE to flash them? Can I do stuff without them?
A: No. its not essential to flash bootloaders. You can proceed without them.
Q:Since the phone is a US phone... Which firmware do I chose? US or Indian
A: You can use any firmware (I think you are referring to radio/modem) which supports vibrant and the OS you are running. Modems are not based on location BUT the results depends on various locations.

Yes. PDA and PIT are used when going back to stock using odin. This link shows [GUIDE] How to Restore or Recover Your Samsung Vibrant using those files.
A Samsung Galaxy S ROM has a few parts :
kernel -> includes the linux kernel, which is the core of the Android OS, drivers to communicate with the hardware. Froyo includes Linux 2.6.32. Gingerbread is 2.6.35.
PDA -> most of the stuff, android and samsung applications, ringtones, etc.
Modem (or phone) -> the radio firmware. Without this you have 0 communication with the cell tower.
CSC -> customisation for a particular provider or country
The PDA can also include the kernel (zImage file)

Thanks for that link!
I meant in my old phone... There were three files ( PDA , CSC and modem ) that we had to put in Odin while flashing but here its just one file ( froyo stock image I guess ) in the PDA slot. And also the pit file ofcourse!

And when (if I ) flash a fresh stock ROM... Does my internal memory( the second bar in the pic) get cleaned up? Just the system partition is cleaned right?

Just to maybe save you some trouble in the future.......
Froyo is 2.2 and stock for the vibrant is Eclair 2.1, you can find froyo odin images but that is not stock.
With the vibrant you can flash roms without needing to go to stock everytime if the os is the same or if you are upgrading, never downgrade through recovery mode.
You only have to flash back to stock (or froyo) if you plan to downgrade, for example you are on jelly bean 4.2 and want to try gingerbread 2.3.
The only time you should have to flash twice is when you are upgrading, for example you are on 2.2 froyo and want to try jelly bean 4.2, recovery is updated with first flash then second flash installs the rom.
Everything else has been answered by haarsh in deatail, refer to his posts.

Yes it will be wiped, that is where your apps are stored. Just back them up first and and restore (app only) after flashing a new rom. Things like pictures and music will not be wiped though.

Take a look at this thread and read it from front to back. It was when we got ICS, but there are many bits of info in there for bootloaders, why we have to flash certain things in certain order, hazards and pitfalls.
Will do sir! Tapatalk giving me problems so can't open that link... Will try it ASAP!

I was asked to post these, so here are all the modems. They can be flashed in both Loki and Safestrap recoveries. You can flash back and forward as you like. The 3rd is from the dev. GS4 and works with consumer GS4's as well. In Safestrap if you flash it on the non-safe side (rom slot sides) it will still show on the safe side, don't worry you can still flash back. If needed pm or post a reply and ill put up the Odin tar's as needed or you can extract the modem.bin files and create an odin image yourself, all modem.bin files are trimmed of the padded zeroes and will register as signed. For most users flashing the modem only zips is all thats needed and the safest option. Do not flash any of the NON-HLOS + modem zips beyond MDK if your on mdk, and none past ME7 if your on Safestrap with a ME7 base and none past MI1 if your using Safestrap with a MI1 base.
Note: CM users, if you use the VRUEMJ7 modem with NON-HLOS.bin you will lose audio until you flash a cm build made on 10/29 or later!
The nonhlos packages are for recovery if you have problems! ONLY FLASH THE NONHLOS and MODEM PACKAGES OF THE BOOTLOADER YOU ARE ON!
MODEMS ONLY: (Flash these 99% of the time)

Yeah especially when it comes to safestrap. If you're using safestrap and you're on a ME7 rom, then you will only have wifi work on the ME7 modem, 4g will still work but wifi wont. Ive had some success on using the VRUDMI1 modem with ME7 roms in safestrap, but not reliably. The only reason I havent released the deodexed stock root VRUDMI1 rom is because I was only able to to get wifi and 4g both working with a ME7 bootloader once and havent been able to repeat. Loki'd people are at an advantage here when it comes to flashing modems.

Hrmm, Interesting. I'm still on stock ME7 with safestrap and Slot 1 Hyperdrive Rom, I flashed the VRUDMI1 modem to that slot and haven't noticed any issues with WIFI nor 4G.
I've had awful connections with the md1 modern running HD and SS, thanks for the links, reverting back to ME7 now

I'm currently on MDK and installed the MI1 modem with no problems. 4G and WiFi work.
Yeah, I'm on MDK as well and have flashed all but the Dev GS4 modem and all are working with no flaws.
Im on safestrap but i wanted the old radios because they work better for me. I had no idea you could flash radios with safestrap.
this is how i feel right now..

How is the latest modem working on the Dev Ed?
I tried MI1 twice and ME7 now. I'm confused. I thought it would change the baseband in 'About phone' but it hasn't budged from the dev stock OYUAMDK So, not sure if it's actually "taking" on my phone. I'm installing the zips in TWRP, apparently successful.

Cool. I'll re-d/l. I thought the MD5s on my end matched yours so I didn't expect any trouble.
I flashed someone else's ME7 from many months ago and that did change my baseband. I'll try yours again.
Update: New host, file MD5 matched the previous. It didn't change the baseband. I attempted the MI1. My baseband remained ME7. First reboot hung on initial splash and had to do a battery pull. But, I've had to do that occasionally anyway since going a non - stock ROM. Not sure why.

So I tried different ROM's, 4.3 onwards (Official stock from samsung, I9300XXUGMK6_I9300OXXGML1_XEO, JustArchi_I9300XXUGML4, JustArchi_I9300XXUGMK6, CM's and more)
Tried ale these: Patched_XXUGMK6_modem.zip, XXUGMK6 Modem, XXEMG4 (EFS V2), JustArchi_Kernel_XXUGMK6 etc. All dedicated for EFS2
Currently I am working on one from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/rom-sammys-4-3-btu-deodexed-rooted-t2569180/page14
Did all that what was instructed and I am still having an issue with our beloved "Not registered in network" thing
It seems it is all okay, I have IMEI number same as under battery, Network bars are avaialable, Network recognized (as above in screenshot: Chess) radio is working but still can't register network. I have passed miles digging on web - every thing hopeless. In Get RIL it says that it is not installed, maybe that is a crucial thing. Guess the only explanation is that my EFS is corrupted.

I know you have tried flashing a patched modem but I think you need to flash both patched modem and kernel.Try flashing both of these patched modem and patched kernel from here >> https://drive.google.com/folderview...sharing&tid=0B6MIUd7HJudAbU5YaGkzOUowMG8#list << and report back. Try both of the mk6 versions
Of course I tried both every time. For example rom JustArchi_I9300XXUGMK6 and then I patched it with JustArchi_Kernel_XXUGMK6 and JustArchi_Modem_XXUGMK6. Also tried these you ment above (both)
Applied same combination for I9300XXUGMK6_I9300OXXGML1_XEO which is official ROM and proceeded same procedure.
I have tried that as well on other XXUGMK6 roms but nothing helped. I didn't use use any Ariza etc. I know it may fck up the whole thing

I think you are confusing things here forget about roms your problem is that your efs is corrupt and you need a patched modem and a patched kernel the rom is not important as long as it is a newer stock rom. The link I sent you is for specific patched modems and kernels that work with corrupt efs these are what you need.
You keep mentioning JustArchie Rom and modem these work with efs v2 but as far as I know they are not patched to fix a corrupt efs. What you need to do is flash a stock rom any one will do newest one the better the JustArchie one will do in your link and then flash the kernel and modem in my link. Don't forget both the modem and kernel need to be patched or it won't work. As far as I know both of JustArchi modems and kernels are not specifically patched for corrupt efs although i think he does a patched modem in one of his threads.
Try my suggestion this as worked for many people who have your problem although it doesn't work for everybody. Hope it helps If it doesn't work then I recommend a service repair.

They aren't my patches ( I wish I was brainy enough to make them ) I only provide the link the patches are thanks to Süleyman Yelgec. They are for 4.3 roms v2 efs that are corrupt please note if they work you will always need to use them if you change to other roms. Try the mk6 modem and kernel first or a combination of the others..

Well, none of these worked. I am living in the woods at the moment so can't send it to service I am struggling with that for 2 weeks already but can't manage. Most likely my efs is corrupted. I will probably still try to solve this

Tried that but still I am stuck a the same point. The thing is that I get an imei number, it appears that it also detect my mobile network (Chess mobile - only emergency calls). It is supposed to to connect to network automatically but nope, even if I replace a simcard - same problem occurs. Choosing manually network does not help either. I am hoping that there will come a patch which will solve the damned thing.
It all has been fixed up by itself. Really I don't get it. Both of my simcards didn't work and lately I've got data network and today it registered to network. As I said I tried several times with 4.3 rom but none of these worked so I gave up. I hate 4.3 roms so just installed CM 12.1 and used mobile as a music device. So eventually got a connection and everything works as before.
Holy s..t, is there any explanation for this? I am so confused

As I said I tried several times with 4.3 rom but none of these worked so I gave up. I hate 4.3 roms so just installed CM 12.1 and used mobile as a music device. So eventually got a connection and everything works as before.
Holy s..t, is there any explanation for this? I am so confused

I think that it is because of kernel. My brother also have s3. He is not getting mobile network in stock kernels. He got mobile network only in boeffla kernel & Agni kernels. Flash boeffla kernel in stock rom then try flashing modems. I think now u no need to flash modem because u got a network in cm rom. Simply flash stock & install kernel.
Good Luck :good:
Hi-
I tried to flash TWRP earlier today and now when I try to boot into recovery, the screen just goes black. The phone is a rooted Verizon prepaid Galaxy S4 with stock ROM.
Fortunately, the phone will otherwise boot normally. How can I reinstall a recovery system?
Thank you!

Odin stock from www.sammobile.com. Stock recovery is included in the tar. Use FlashFire for flashing, the bootloader is locked on this device.

Thank you. Do I download from the Firmware section of that site?
Also, after I flash that, will I be able to change to a custom ROM, like Cyanogen? I have been experiencing a lot of overheating and poor battery life.

Yes and yes
OK, I just flashed the stock firmware that I downloaded from Sammobile.com using Flashfire. My phone appears unchanged. I still cannot boot into recovery mode, and all of my apps and settings are unchanged. What did I do wrong?
Thanks again.

no and no ?
you can't run any custom roms on this device other then stock tw based ones
Despite numerous attempts, I still don't have access to recovery mode. I used Odin to flash the stock firmware using the .tar file. I just tried flashing the PIT file, but the button quickly turns blue and says RESET, and my phone boots regularly.
Any ideas?

So there are AOSP ROMs posted here for no reason? That's BS.

I thought that's what I did - I downloaded a stock firmware from Sammobile.com - I545VRUGOF1_I545VZWGOF1_I545VRUGOF1_HOME.tar.md5
I tried to flash it again last night and although it passed, nothing on my phone was different (apps were all there, did not go through new phone startup sequence).

Yes I know what a locked bootloader is, but I am rooted with a custom ROM. You can flash ROMs and mods with FlashFire. Not dead by any means.

How are your comments helping anyone? You think it's dead, good for you. I, for one, am still currently using and developing for this device. As long as people are still using the device and the ROMs that are available then the device is not dead.

because he was asking if cyanogen was a thing ITS NOT
stop arguing with me
there are no custom kernels no custom pre-boot recovery you may or may not get root depending on your firmware version
there hasn't been a update of Note to any of the Roms in this sub in YEARS
sorry you disagree you are welcome to waste hours trying to get kexec running on the device then we will have something untill then its fuctionally dead because nothing you flash is gonna make a s4 relevant in 2017

So your advice to someone looking to make their device run better is to buy a new/different device? Just because it isn't "relevant" to you doesn't mean people aren't still using it. Kindly take your comments to a relevant forum.

I just bought a brand new S4 in Feb 2018 - on purpose, installed SmartDroid so I can enjoy a lightening fast quality device that's ad-free and has 3 - 4 day battery use - Trust me when I say, this is absolutely the most relevant aspect of the Smartphone experience.
