Is it possible to root my Samsung g925f COI9 version? - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been dying to root my second Samsung and as far as I know it's not possible to root coi9 at the moment? I hope I'm wrong

Coi9 requires a custom kernal that installs supersu and sets selinux to permissive

So it's not possible flashing the kernel and and supersu sperately through odin? Like Using Alex V recovery in 5.1.1

No that kernal does all of the tweaks and installs during bootup and then you can flash the custom recovery for tour device

Here is how to root but on your device you may loose the use of the fingerprint scanner.
Also go to sammobile and get your latest firmware available for download and get the latest odin from there as well. I always do those steps before alter my device as reassurence that i can restore in case of soft brick

my phone is currently rooted, i meant should i unroot before flashing?
whenever I flash a stock firmware via odin my phone gets unrooted automaticaly
I had the same question but after searching a bit, I was informed I could just flash using Odin. Most likely lose root but can be rerooted afterwards, at least that's what I was told.

Yup, just flash with Odin then flash cf root again afterwards

[Q][I9300][XXELLA]Best way to root?

Hello everyone,
I got my new S3 and would like to root it. I am looking for the easiest way to do so. Currently I would like to stay on stock firmware, but only rooted. There seems to be so many ways to root the I9300, so I am looking for suggestions from user who have rooted already.
My S3 info:
Model number: GT-I9300
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version:I9300XXELLA
Build number: JZO54K.I9300XXEMA2
This method seems the easiest: [GT-I930x/T/N][SHV-E210*][SHW-M440S] CF-Auto-Root
Thank you,
CF-Autoroot or CF-Root 6.5 depending if you want to have a custom recovery or not. Follow the guides and make sure to flash the correct file for your device!
PhilZ Or TWRP .

Although I would recommend changing the recovery that comes with the latter anyway as we can't guarantee it's SDS safe, which means may as well do CF_Autoroot.
Then as JJE says, flash Philz or TWRP
I used cf auto root then put cwm recovery on. XXEMC2 also have stock rom at the min

Great. Just need to change recovery to TWRP or Philz then you're done.

Philz is like CWM but with way more features.
TWRP is a completely different experience but equally as good. Both of these are safe from SDS (See sticky in general for Sudden Death)
CWM is nto SDS safe
Just read thay thread..and I do suffer feom random bouts of the phone restarting itself.but this is an issue I had on stock rom before root
Have noticed since root my clock widget forgets to update so I have to delete it and replace again on hoke screen

We're talking about recovery now not rom. If you stick with cwm, when you flash a rom - we cannot tell you you're safe from brick due to sds. Only twrp or philz we can say you're safe. We've advised you. Follow or ignore our advice, its your call but you have been warned.

Thank you for all the feedback. I will be trying the CF-Auto-Root method with Mobile Odin Pro.

When you say "with", you don't mean you will try to root with Mobile Odin do you? Mobile Odin only works after root. You will need Desktop Odin to flash CF_AutoRoot

If you use that tar, that will put your phone back to factory stock out of the box with the newest software version. If you are looking for the latest version of twrp, just Google and then you can reroot and then put twrp back on. Use Odin to do it all. Hope that helps. Now if you are already rooted, then yes, just find the latest version of twrp and then flash in Odin.

6.0.1 root s6 edge

what is the best method to use for rooting a Galaxy S6 Edge running 6.0.1.
There is a cf-autoroot that you can use for the g925f and g925p it isntalls into recovery then you boot to recovery wait a while and it roots MM. If you do not have either device please state so.

Can't flash TWRP on i9300

Hello, I have a stock i9300 of a friend of mine that I need to customize. I downloaded the latest TWRP and the latest ODIN. I flash TWRP and Odin says it's all ok, but then when I boot the i9300 in recovery mode, TWRP it's not there and I still get the stock recovery. What am I missing? Any help? Thanks!
You might have downloaded the stock recovery instead.?? Where did you download twrp from??

From the official TWRP site... it's twrp-3.1.1-0-i9300.img.tar
I tried two more times to flash it...every time it says PASS and it's all ok... but the stock recovery it's still there
Try chainfires method of rooting s3. You can Google that. After that flash twrp.

It says to flash it in "PDA"... my Odin 3.12.3 doesn't have any "PDA" option... it has BL, AP, CP and CSC
Edit:
IT WORKED. Thanks!

Yes, root via chainfire (pda/ap radio button (option) in odin to flash). Then flash the recovery image (cwm (most stable for me)or twrp (least stable for me)).
Beamed in by telepathy.
