How did you install fastboot?
Sent from my Nexus 4 running Android 4.3
So I soft-bricked my tablet trying to downgrade the hboot to 1.0...03. It is not recognized as an adb device. All drivers are correctly installed, Everything is in line, but I still cannot get it to do anything. Hboot says relocked with a security warning, and even trying to run the RUU through a .zip file is not working. I'm hopelessly lost... Battery is charged up fine too. Help me, please.
Shameful self bump...
Where are you trying to use adb meaning what state is your flyer? If in hboot then adb would not recognize it, go into fastboot and use fastboot commands

That's the thing. Adb does not see it.

P.S. ADB commands work only when the OS is booted up, otherwise - you need Fastboot commands
Yes. But fastboot commands weren't working either.

Just a reminder: to use fastboot, you must select "FASTBOOT" option in the bootloader, and you'll see "FASTBOOT USB" in the bootloader.
Try to redownload adb/fastboot utilities
I'll try.. but I've done this already.

adb devices wont show my evo 3d no matter what i tried. usb debuggin checked. running win7 64. reinstalled drivers, sdk, searched and tried almost every method but no luck.
another thing is fastboot shows my device as unlocked, s-off. however, root checker says its not rooted. i dont have any recovery installed because i flashed a stock ruu to try and fix my wifi. which still doesnt work.
ready to give up trying....
any help is appreciated.

S-off and Root are 2 different things. Can't help with the adb problem, unless you want to ditch Windows for Linux. Also, this may seem obvious, but strange things get overlooked sometimes. Have you tried rebooting your router, and verifying that your router itself is not the culprit?

Don't give up yet.
Did you turn on debugging in the developer options of system settings for whatever ROM you have installed when you try to run ADB? That's required for the ADB commands to work.
When you say "fastboot" shows the unlocked and S-OFF status you probably mean the bootloader display. If you can get to that, select "fastboot" and connect the phone to your PC and it should change to "fastboot usb". Then issue the "fastboot devices" command from the directory where ADB is installed and it should return the serial number of your device. If it does, your drivers and phone connectivity are fine.

I dont if you tried this, maybe your cord is bad. You could try swapping out cords. Again not sure, if your led pops up when you hook your phone up to your PC. If it does, does your PC recognize your phones sdcard? It may also help to flash a recovery and gain root. It couldnt hurt to try.

What is your recovery??
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Since your bootloader is unlocked all you need to do for rooting is install a Recovery (best done via fastboot) and then just flash in a Superuser package such as this: http://androidsu.com/superuser/
It's how I've rooted an HTC Amaze and a Rezound
if u haven't already get hansoons all in one tool kit for the amaze, to be sure your bootloader is unlocked when you boot into it at the top in red it will say "unlocked". Then follow the instructions above being flash recovery, then flash the zip after booting into the recovery you flash. I prefer 4ext.
I know but when i try and put a recovery while its in fastboot nothing happens at all..the CMD comes up and nothing happens..I attached photo
its as if the laptop doesnt notice the phone is connected
Sounds like you haven't installed the drivers to your laptop. follow hasoon2000's instructions 1-5 in the first window then you can use his tool to root your Amaze.
I do have the drivers installed.i just double checked too

Did u rename the amaze tool kit folder. If so, please make sure that the folder name does not have any space between the words.. i.e, instead of 'Amaze Toolkit' use 'Amaze_Toolkit'. The space in the folder name would break the execution of the script.
My first phone ever the htc one and i was bored today so i decided to root my p hone.. I was messing around with TWRP and i deleted the os on the phone and now it wont load! whenever i turn on my phone it just loads and gets stuck at HTC One logo... You can open the command prompt from within the folder you unzipped when performing the unlock by pressing shift and right clicking
Power off your phone. Power your phone on by holding power and volume down.
Highlight 'Fastboot' the volume buttons then press power to "select".
Plug your phone into your PC and open a Command Prompt. (windows XP - Click Start > Run > type CMD in box then press OK; Windows 7 - Click Start > type CMD in search box then press Enter) Change directory to your folder where we put fastboot files by typing cd c:\fastboot for example.*
*Alternatively, you can just hold down shift and right click in the folder and select "open command window here".
Type this into your command prompt window: fastboot oem lock
at least that's how I think it works
good luck!
