I got this phone and I want to root it, but I don't know how to do it.
Is there any clone of it so that I can find a method ?
It is a MT6735 based phone, Mediatek Quad-Core 1 GHz, Cortex-A53, Lollipop 5.1

Please any help welcome
Hi everyone,
This topic is probably outdated, but i recently did a few research in order to root a Wiko Rainbow UP 4G with Android 5.1, like mega180 asked.
From what i found (every info is not fresh), the easy way to do this is to use Kingroot v4.8.0. I tried it and, yes, it works. But you have this app stuck on your phone, and you may want to get rid of it. I read that the app superSume Pro is good for this, but it's not free and i haven't tried it myself (yet).
I might have found an less easy way to get the root, which is the following one. Please correct me if you read something false, as i'm quite new in the Android game, i don't have a strong understanding of everything. So, if you :
1) unlock the bootloader
2) install a custom recovery like TWRP
3) flash Super SU
... it should do the job, right ?
So step by step :
<> Step 1 - Unlock the bootloader
For this, a simple fastboot oem unlock command should work. For those who would not know, please note that this will erase all the user's data (and that is a good thing). By the way, i looked into a ROM with a method similar to this one (thanks to this article and its author !), and fyi that's the OEM commands we can find inside :
Code:
oem p2u
oem reboot-recovery
oem append-cmdline
oem off-mode-charge
oem unlock
oem lock
oem key
oem lks
I'm note sure to get the purpose of every command here, like "oem lks" for instance, if you have any information to share ...
<> Step 2 - Install a custom recovery
I found on a french forum that a version of TWRP had been released for the Rainbow UP 4G, but the links provided to download it are dead today. Has anyone heard about that ? There is nothing about Wiko phones on the TWRP website. Once you have it just do a fastboot flash recovery your_custom_recovery.img and that's it, i guess.
<> Step 3 - Flash Super SU
All you need is the Super SU flashable zip, but ... on the website, the links are (also) dead ! With this file, simple flash it with TWRP and you will succeed.
If that is ok to get root access, the only things i miss to try it are these files that must exist somewhere ... so any help will be welcomed. And if all this post is full of stupidities and i'm completely wrong, i'll be glad to know it too !
Thanks for reading !

Hello XDA
Today we're going to flash a touch CWM recovery to our phones.
First of all I want to thank all developers who made this become possible for our device,
-Kingo ROOT for giving root permissions (this is the one I used for my E460 and it worked like a charm)
-Optima Team for bringing us the unlocked bootloader.
-Chimey Jimmey for giving a non touch recovery and easy method to push it.
If you want a non touch recovery just tell me and I will post the file(it also may be found in some thread)
PRE-REQUISITES
1.Root Permissions on your LG L5II
2. Unlocked bootlader
NOTE: I tested this only on E460, I hope this works also on other L5IIs but I'm not sure.
EDIT: This will work if the non touch CWM version works on your device, the non touch version can be easily found in this forum section
I DO NOT ASSUME ANY RESPONSABILITY FOR BRICKED DEVICES OR ANY OTHER DAMAGE DURING THIS PROCEDURE, DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK.
1.Download this file and extract it. http://www.filedropper.com/touchcwmrecovery
MD5 sum:
Code:
94B805ADF74CD810CCF417C1FB985723
2.Then place it in your SDcard and open your terminal emulator(which can be downloaded from Play Store)
and type the following text:
Code:
su
dd if=/mnt/sdcard2/touchcwm_recovery.img of=/dev/recovery
3. When you have successfuly executed the previous commands in terminal emulator reboot in recovery mode to test it(this is the only method i know how to boot into recovery on this device)
Type this in terminal emulator
Code:
su
reboot recovery
I hope this worked for you and now you can do whatever you want with your new recovery.
Thanks for the attention, let me know if this was useful.
will this work with e450-10b
I did test this only on E460, if you can dump me your recovery.img i can build it for your model.
soo, it's opening a new way to build a custom rom for our phone?
I hope it is, now I am learning new stuff about kernel and other stuff in order to work on a costum ROM for our phones. Unfortunately our phones is the only one from LII Series with mediatek chipset and porting cyanogenmod is very difficult because mediatek refuses of sharing any data.
EDIT: I just saw that there's some open source stuff release on LG official site, I'm not sure if it includes kernerl source and all other stuff needed.

Good as soon I can download that I will give a look to this! Hopefully we have everything opensource (now I can't downlad this because I'm using my phone and I'm without fast internet connection)
i think same, but keep calm
I'm currently on CM 13.0-20160809-NIGHTLY-onyx and I've tried to flash three different Roms on my phone (Two different versions of cm14 and OOS3) with TWRP. But every time I get the error message attached in the screenshot.
Now, I've seen a few people online having similar problems, but it was mostly for cm12 and the suggested fixes are not really helpful for my situation.
I've somehow lost my stock backup so I'm kinda lost right here.

In general Error 7 usually means you're using the wrong version of TWRP. I'm still using Blu_Sparks version for the new bootloader.

You need to upgrade your bootloader and TWRP.you are using very old CM and now everything is changed so upgrade your boot loader and recovery.
I already use TWRP 3.0.2-0 which is the newest version according to TWRP Manager.
How do I upgrade my bootloader?
Edit: So I found this way to do it :Link
The thing is: it says the bootloader must be unlocked, but if I type "fastboot devices" I get nothing back. "adb devices works. I'm pretty sure that my bootloader is unlocked since I have a custom rom and my device is rooted but I'm not sure if I have activated the CM recovery option in the developer settings ever since.
I really don't wanna brick my phone so I'm not sure if I should blindly follow the steps in the link above.

"fastboot devices" doesn't work unless you are in the bootloader
Hey,
I recently got a cheap, slightly used chinese version Nokia N1. But because without the Google Services its pretty much useless to me, I want to root it and install a custom ROM.
I followed 2 tutorials:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-n1/help/nokia-n1-root-t3125771
and
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-n1/general/play-store-howto-t3118965
But I always get stuck on the part with the Recovery Launcher.

}
To give some background, here are the steps I did:
Because fastboot and the launcher won't see my device if its in MTP or PTP, I disabled both. That seems to work fine.
I "unlocked" oem in the developer settings and also allowed USB debugging.
I started the Recovery Launcher with admin privileges and used option T4.
It boots into recovery mode, but I just get errors all over the place bacause the device is still locked. So i just typed "fastboot oem unlock". Then T4 again.
Thats where this error occurs. From what I read, this should put me into a CWM recovery session. But it doesn't. It just stays in the fastboot mode window.
I'm pretty new to this android modding thing, so don't expect to much knowledge from me.
with much thanks
~David

The thing is, there are no other solutions out there I really know about. I searched google up and down and got no real result.
I think my problem is that my android version isn't 5.0.x, like almost every english tutorial suggests. It is 5.1.1.
oh God... my fault sorry
Greetings, I own a tablet that has MT6592 Chipset. It has CPU (Cortex A7) and GPU(Mali-450).
It runs on kitkat 4.4.2. I want to flash a Custom ROM on it.
I have the Custom ROM File, but i am unable to unlock the bootloader to install TWRP(Easy TWRP maker).
Using ADB i tried to unlock the bootloader.
I typed in the command : fastboot oem unlock ,
Then i get a message on my screen saying, "Press Volume up to unlock (This will void warranty)"
When i do so, it shows a fail message.

I think you haven't installed correct fastboot drivers.
This "bug" is known at some MTK-devices. There are some solutions for a few devices, by using patched boot.img, but none for this. Did you find a solution yet?
Hello everyone,
well i bought a CAT S62Pro phone. I am trying to root it ... i am really frustrated now
what have i done ?
- i have latest OTA update - Android 11:
https://android.googleapis.com/packages/ota-api/package/38947871c996a7ed4c023b912f5de87bd416ad89.zip
- i installed it;
- unpacked payload.bin, Installed magisk and patched the boot.img...
Now i am stuck:
- OEM unlock is not present in dev. options menu (have not seen it in A10 either)
- fastoot oem unlock commands are not working. I am getting messeges like:
C:\Users\SzczeGr\Desktop\platform-tools>fastboot oem unlock
FAILED (remote: 'Command not supported in default implementation')
fastboot: error: Command failed
- some system properties
[sys.oem_unlock_allowed]: [0]
[ro.oem_unlock_supported]: [1]
I can not flash stuff in EDL mode - i dont have proper FIrehose/sahara programmer.
I have some questions:
- does anybody have firehose/sahara and those .xml files to flash stuff in EDL mode ?
- does anybody know how to repack payload.bin and create OTA update package ? It may be the fastest way to root it. Step by step guide would be OK.
- how to edit/create firehose programmer ? is it possible ?
- does anybody have an idea how to unlock bootloader ???? Stack overflow, firehose or hack or something ?
Any help would be cool.
Thank you in advance....
This needs more attention, Phone is crippled with dog**** software and UI choices. So much potential wasted its a real shame.
FU cat
maybe one of these firehose programmers work, so you can unlock

if your firmware is :
Cat/S62Pro/S62Pro:11/RKQ1.210406.002/1.014.01
boot and recovery are here :
cat s62pro boot recovery.zip

If you have the "Allow OEM unlock" toggle in developer options, switch it on, then
adb reboot fastboot

Follow instructions on the phone to unlock bootloader.... After reboot, and until you run the bootloader lock command, you will get a warning that the bootloader is unlocked and data on the device can't be verified at power on, before boot logo...
This is where I'm stuck... I have the latest firmware on S62(not Pro) and I can't find a means to get boot.img to patch and flash. There isn't a loader for edl, fastboot is only for writing to, not read back of partitions, and I can't find the OTA update .zip with a payload.bin to extract the boot.img from... If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated
