I've searched for an answer but couldn't find one.. my gmail app won't send any emails. It just says "sending" forever. I'm using a rooted vibrant on stock 2.1 rom, with JAC's kernel.
There have been a few people myself included experiencing this sporadically but I haven't seen a fix or a reason why it's doing this just yet.
Sent from my awesome Vibrant using XDA App
I have yet to be able to actually send an email via Gmail on my phone. I can receive them all day long, but the times I try to compose a message, they just say "sending" forever.
Also, I have noticed that when i receive a message and delete it, it doesn't actually delete it from my Gmail. I have to log into the webmail or use my desktop.
I'm running the stock rom, rooted.
I used to have this happen on my g1 frequently, haven't had it happen on my vibrant yet though. Typically when it would happen on my g1, I would go into the google apps and clear all the data. Couldn't just do it on gmail either, had to do the other google apps too for whatever reason, then it would work again.
Good luck, it's pretty annoying.
Try k9. It's a bit slow at times but it's pretty solid. Best email app I've found yet. I use it for msn, live, gmail, yahoo and my company email.
Honestly I'm pretty disappointed in the stock email apps that came with this phone. I think they're kinda garbage. Apparently my Sidekick '08 was better for that, not to mention the lack of IM.

This happened to me yesterday for the first time. I chalked it up to the gmail servers having issues. But as soon as I plugged in the charger the emails went out. Maybe if battery is low it won't send email? It didn't tell me it wasn't going to send them, it just didn't send them.
I find that I have to go to gmail and manually send each one from the outbox, they still say sending but they actually do send after doing that, because the recepient always says they get it.
So for example, if you send a pic from gallery, make sure you go to gmail after, go to the outbox then click on the mesage and then click send.
* To get to outbox go to gmail then click menu > labels
Sucks but works till we get froyo yo
i'm on a Samsung captivate running the leaked jh3 firmware. It's rooted and running SuperRooter and circle clock.
I noticed that after reflashing to the stock jh3 gmail would send
After installing superrooter gmail would send
After installing circle clock gmail would send
But after I backed up apps with titanium backup it stopped working. I think TiBU is causing an issue for me.
Anyone else have TiBU in your problems some how?
Update: Got it working
I did this:
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, home button then filter, select all. Next Select gmail, clear data and clear cache. Then do the same with gmail storage.
Now it works!

This fixed it for me as well. I am unsure of what caused it to not work in the first place, though.
nice, clearing cache/data worked for me. i was gonna reflash my phone to stock and start from scratch. this saved me a ton of time. +1

my gmail is having the same issue as here, has anyone found a better solution to the problem then clearing the data as that deletes the currently stuck sending gmails.....
also I cant do the process above if its in a conversation, does anyone know how to open a sending gmail when it has all the other responses attached to the top of it??? that process onnly works for individually sent mails, not "replied" mails that bring other messages with it into the outbox.
anyone know how to detach it from the others or even open the data files to remove text using some sort of tool???
bump for some possible resolutions to force the message to send and or view the message to copy text...m even a wayto view data from it so clearing data wontclear message tryingto be sent???
please got a long, important email i need sent...
Seriously doubt this is just a Vibrant issue as it would happen A LOT to me with my MT3G. So far, knock on wood, it hasn't happened with the Vibrant.
I have the captivate running cog2.2 and deleting the cache under "manage applications" worked for me. I was going crazy! Thanks for the help!
I have Titanium Backup and actually had to restore my ROM with ROM Manager and a couple of apps from Titanium Backup and developed this problem. Clearing data and cache under the Gmail App and Storage + Reboot fixed the problem.
Danger
I too have been having issues with emails (and now SMS?) messages stuck in "sending..." mode. I had several emails from a month ago that I just now noticed didn't send, so I backed up gmail, cleared data, restored the emails and tried to send them individually. On the plus side, my emails did send.
On the minus side, some of them had pictures and my phone took the liberty of sending the wrong pictures from my camera (I was "sharing" pictures from the camera app). So to be safe, just delete the emails!
Dangerzone!

Okay, I have 20,000 texts on my phone and both the stock messaging app and handcent are really stuttering. I want to just quickly delete all of my messages, but after clearing all data and cache on messageCS and message I still have all the messages on my phone and it's taking forever to delete them. Is there any way to just quickly wipe them all without my other information being wiped? I have full root
Notifications for other applications that do messaging (like GoSMS) work fine but for some reason the stock messaging app won't give any notifications. I've set up the preferences correctly and also wiped the app data once and re-set everything up and still nothing. Re-installing all the gapps had the same effect. I also know that the system preferences allow vibration at all times. I don't know what else I could possibly try, so if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated!
I have a galaxy s3 and have been using it for the past 2 weeks. The default messaging app is not functioning properly.
Even though there are several messages and conversations in the inbox, it shows an empty inbox! After waitin for a minute or two, the messages appear. But it takes a very long time to open a single conversation. [conversations do not have more than 100 texts, there are only 6 conversations].
And sometimes, i just get a dialogue box "Messaging has stopped working". And then i'm not able to open the messaging app at all.
Restarting the phone solves the problem temporarily. The same problem starts again after a couple of hours of restarting.
Does this happen in all GS3s? All the apps are up to date. Clearing the ram doesnt help. What do i do ?
(1) are you rooted or anything
(2) did you try to delete the data/cache of the messaging app in the Application Management settings? (this might delete your sms tough)
(3) did you try a factory reset?
I never had problems with the stock SMS app though.

Rooted: No. I'm running the default rom.
Factory reset: I'm facing this problem since the last factory reset only. It was fine before that.
Cache files: No. I did not clear any files. I'll try clearing the 'data'.
You could try an alternative app such as gosms which u have used before on my old HTC desire as I hated the default messages app. It is a good app allowing you to theme and the such. Though personally I prefer the new Samsung app. But if I was having problems that would be my first port of call.

I'm using the stock lg sms app and the badge is showing an unread message. I've deleted all messages, cleared the data on the sms app and even moved the sms default to hangouts and back.
Any help would be appreciated.
Go into your recovery and wipe the cache partition it will force all of the apps to refresh their data that way the notification's will also reset. There are several things that cause this, this may just be a glitch but if that first wipe doesn't work try wipe the dalvik cache as well. Both of those wipes should help but if that still does not work try us tb to uninstall it then download a rom and extract the apk and re install it. If that doesn't work just re install the rom or go to a previous back up when you had the messages. Just read them. I personally recommend just going to cm it does not have all of the junk like the stock rom. If you do plan to extract the apk then look in the system app folder it may also be in the private app folder. Also try to switch to a different SMS app I think that the google messenger is the best. Mostly because it has material design and is the fastest over all.
Figured it out. I loaded textra, but kept the default on the LG app. In textra there was an old text, which was deleted last week. Removed the text, removed textra and badge issue resolved.
