I know a few of you have had problems after rooting the straight talk S920L model when it goes into the recovery/download bootloop/freeze. For me personally If i tried to power on, or recovery bootup it would have in the top left corner "odin mode, version xxx, qualcomm secure boot enabled.. etcetc"
If i started it in download mode it worked, so i hooked it up to laptop, fired up odin and was just gunna start flashing things i had for the hell of it (extra phone we have, gf bricked it trying to use)
I flashed in the "Bootloader" section a twrp recovery i had saved (openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-jfltetmo.tar)
and voila! phone automatically started right up
Thanks for the tip, im sure it will be useful for many.

I rooted my T-Mobile Sidekick 4G successfully yesterday and bit off more than I could chew by installing a custom ROM Revolution HD to be exact. Loaded it through ROMmanager with CWM recovery but when loaded was stuck in a splash screen boot loop (it would give the error vibrations (4 buzz) seen when a program is unresponsive (over and over).
I used ODIN to try to restore the original ROM and was successful through the process until ODIN rebooted my phone. Now I loop through color bar screens and when trying to enter download mode (3 button combo (I'm doing it right because thats how I ran ODIN in the first place)) get the a cycle between the 'loading circle animation, white screen, black screen and repeat. Note: Did not unroot
Phone does not enter recovery through button combo nor download mode with USB+button combo. Basically no way for it to connect to ODIN (Haven't used a Jig to force download mode but read it won't work because I can't even get to recovery.
Question (finally i know): If there are no other solutions, I am considering sending the phone through device replacement, is there anyway Samsung can tell if the phone is rooted even if the device is completely unbootable and can't communicate through usb?
I've read a lot of 'probablys' and 'maybes' online but haven't found a solid answer yet.
Thanks!
pictures attached to get a better idea.
EDIT: Repartitioned option was select during ODIN process, just read I WASNT supposed to do that?
I rooted my phone successfully, tweaked a couple roms successfully as well. The last rom I tweaked was I think something to do with init.d. After I tweaked the rom, I restarted my phone and bam... that $H1T stood stuck at the boot animation loop a.k.a BRICKED.
I downloaded odin and some tars, but before that I deleted partition erased in recovery mode holding up and power button. I went to download mode using down and power button. I failed 9 times using odin, and then eventually I got the box screen to display "PASS" with a green color. I restarted the phone and it had a different model lol. However my phone still did not get back to the way its suppose to start up. I tried using new files for ODIN, and everything seemed about right until it said: Wait about 2 minutes, it was the last step I think and I was actually waiting 15 minutes, so I got anxious and unplugged it and restarted my phone and it shows a different model instead of SPH-D710 it shows GT-19100 and goes straight into recovery mode.
All I can do is scroll up and down using volume buttons but I cant hit the (ok button) which is the (power button) to attempt the action I want. I have a boost mobile samsung galaxy S2. Also Odin, Kies and my Computer does not recognize my phone anymore through usb. I tried usb samsung drivers update, and I even tried a bunch of different versions of ODIN including a different computer. My downloads folder is literally packed with a whole bunch of tool aid kits for my phone lol. OH and by the way before I used odin I did end the process of Kies in the task manager so yup. I do not know what else to do, I tried different computers I think I am pretty much PHUCKED over now. Unless someone has another solution.
I do not understand why I cant enter nothing in recovery mode all of sudden, I can only move up or down. I can only go into either recovery mode or download mode. In recovery mode it says:
Deleting Cryption Meta Data
-- Copying media files...
Successfully copied meida files.
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Updating application...
Successfully updated application.
-- Appling Multi-CSC...
Successfully applied multi-CSC.
If it shows I9100 on the boot screen instead of SPH-D710 you've obviously used firmware for the I9100 on your device, and there's a fair possibility you'll be making a trip to a service centre.
Find stock SPH-D710 firmware, flash that with Odin. Where ? No idea, like most people here know almost nothing about this model; try the usual haunts - Samfirmware, AndroidFirmwares.Net, Samsung-updates.com, Google search),.
Hi
So I've had my Samsung SIII for just over 18 months, and it's all worked fine etc. I've never rooted it or anything.
But this morning it will not boot up. When I try to switch it on the start up sequence happens, but it gets stuck on the flashing Samsung splash screen. If I turn it off it just restarts and ends up back on that screen. The only way to stop it is to take the battery out.
I've tried starting it in recovery mode (power+home button+vol up), but the standing, open android just flashes and I end up with the android lay down with the red exclamation mark from there. It then loops between the two androids and the Samsung SIII start up logo screen. I have tried to press the volume buttons whilst on the red exclamation mark screen but cannot get to anywhere from it.
However, it will load the download mode (power+home button+ vol down) just fine.
I have looked all over but most people encountering anything similar have rooted their devices, which I have not.
Also, last week I lost all of my contacts which were stored on the device (I don't know why) but that might have something to do with it.
I don't particularly want to hard reset the phone and lose everything, but if it's the only solution I will do.
Thanks.
In download mode is the product number shown or a blank?
If it shows i9300 then you have a good chance of flashing either a full stock rom or a rescue firmware (see general forum) using odin. You will need to factory reset in recovery afterward, but your data is almost certainly unrecoverable.
If the product number is blank then you have partial SDS and require a new motherboard.

Do has boomboomer said above but as a last resort before flashing back to stock or a rescue firmware if you flash PhilZ recovery in download mode with odin. You then have a Aroma option in PhilZ recovery to browse and copy phone files so you may be able to recover some data pictures etc.
Please read PhilZ thread >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860 << and the special features thread about Aroma file manager in post #3
Please note use as a last resort to get your data back! and read everything! Also all this is presuming you can get into PhilZ recovery after flashing..
I'm having the same problem , been looking through lots of topics. When I switch on the phone it's not booting android guy lays on his back. Download mode and Android Recovery are in my range.
I've been trying to flash stock-firmware from sammobile.com with ODIN but no effect , I mean It all went OK in Odin Operation list than fially phone reset and PASS. But this android guy is still laying on his back and making fun of me xD
Before trying to get back to stock ROM, I've had rooted phone and installed RR with 4.4.2 for S3, now I don't have a clue what shall I do next ...

I have solved my problem with this lying android guy on his back , after trying to get back stock. So the thing was on my phone there have been left the kernel from Resurection Remix , I have updated it to Custom Kernel from this topic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2563562
And my newest version of stock firmware is swimming very nice I hope This will help someone
I apologize if this is in the wrong place, and I've really tried searching around, but nothing seems to work/ is tailored to the m8.
So, I just got an M8 new out of the box, rooted it and successfully installed cyanogenmod. Problem is, I was playing around with it, trying to get the GApp store and somehow (did what i think was) deleted my roms completely. Now upon booting up the phone I just get the "This build is for dev..." screen, and with the volume down+Power button to access recovery mode I constantly get put back to the fastboot screen. I tried flashing a custom recovery as in "Phone arena CWM flash recovery" guide, but no luck because my computer is reading the device as offline. I honestly have no idea what to do, and if anyone could help me I would be so greatful...
TL;DR: Stuck on boot screen, can't enter recovery mode, think i deleted all my roms, help please
On a scale of 1 - bricked, how bricked is my phone?
HUGE DEVELOPMENTS, GUYS! I've been able to access recovery mode again by re-flashing ClockWorkMod.

On that scale, you are zero. If the screen comes on, you aren't bricked.
As title. My phone is stuck in the emergency recovery page: use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch PC software. I cannot turn the phone off, I cannot go into recovery, and I cannot go into download mode.
I attempted to root the device using kingo but it failed. It was my first time rooting a device. So my phone essentially got stuck when it restarted at the "Samsung S6 Edge: Powered by Android" black screen. I then managed to "recover" the device by using Odin and flashing a stock firmware.
So I got back into the device and tried to change the settings back to what they were before. I disabled USB debugging (Bootloader option is not available for my mode, SM-G925I).
Then...having the itchy hands I do, I checked out the security portion under settings, and I saw that there was "unauthorized changes made". The program suggested that I restart my phone so as to get rid of those changes..which I did. And since then, it has been stuck again.
I actually took a trip down to the service centre where the tech actually managed to turn the device off, and I was told that warranty was void. In any case, when I returned home I tried to flash the same stock firmware that I used earlier but ODIN failed. I redownloaded the stock firmware for 925I from a couple of places and they're all 1.5gb+; but every time I try to even load the firmware Odin just hangs and I have to end the task...
Right now, I'm attempting to use smart switch and the emergency recovery function but it has not worked the first time, at the second stage where installation actually takes place. While the phone was connected, window's kept giving the notification that the device was not recognized. I'm giving smart switch a second desperate try and this time round I'm receiving no notifications from windows (so I suppose that's a good thing..). But assuming that smartswitch does not work? What are my options considering:
1) Failed root using kingo root (one-click stuff..wish I had known better)
2) USB Debugging is not enabled
3) Unable to enter recovery mode
4) Unable to enter download mode (but a download bar appears when I attempt to use Odin at the emergency recovery page)
5) 5.1.1 android system
6) Phone is not recognized by smart switch (might be because it is in the emergency recovery mode)
Really at a loss here..I'm helpless with tech and I really should have just left well alone. Jailbreaking was so much easier...Samsung quoted me $200+ for the replacement of the motherboard of the phone, which I will probably take up if the situation is really beyond repair.
Thanks in advance..
