[Q&A] [ROM][OFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 13 Nightlies for i9300 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Welcome all!
I took the liberty of creating this thread as a supplement to the development thread to keep the latter clean and to try to channel non-development related discussion here.
According to this post @forkbomb444 prefers those side-discussions to be had in another thread... and here it is.
Q: So what exactly is this thread meant for as opposed to development thread?
A: In the development thread bugs are to be reported only on stock configuration and then only when they are device specific (meaning only present on GT-i9300)!
Non-device related bugs should go to CM directly! It is the reporters responsibility to find out which is the case, e.g. through searching around and checking CM13 forums for other devices.
This thread (Q&A) on the other hand is for people who are not on stock configuration (using different kernel, xposed, superSU etc.)!
Q: What questions don't belong in this thread?
A: This thread is not general Q&A! So if you have questions related to e.g. rooting, repartitioning, getting twrp, using odin, getting your IMEI back etc. this is not the right place (and neither is the dev thread!).
Most of those questions can efficiently be answered by checking the excellent threads in my signature (see below).
So, if you finally come to the conclusion that this is the right place to ask/discuss your questions/ideas, please use the forum search A-N-D(!) skim over the last five pages of the thread, to see if it has already been discussed. If you can't find an answer, then post your questions here, being sure to give as much information as possible so that we can help wasting minimal time.
Thanks for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

The option to remove the brightness slider from apps drawer was gone, or is in another place respect CM 12 ?.
Other non relevant option missing is the one that hide the wrong pattern entered in the lock screen.

In current nightlies, bluetooth audio is completely broken, pending this change being merged (EDIT: hey I can merge that now! It'll be in tomorrow's nightly). But yes, even with that change, the sound does lag occasionally.

I'm using version of 2015-12-12. Should I wipe all to install the newer version?

Thanks for the reply, will there be any plans to fix the bluetooth sound problems in the future?
Thanks a lot for the hard work you put in our phone really appreciated!

It should work as a dirty flash, just wiping cache and dalvik cache.

While flashing the 21/12 and 18/12 nightly (Maybe the others too) TWRP just reboots, instead of flashing the rom. I'm on the latest TWRP, does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

1. The Q&A thread is not created by the dev of the rom. So its quite possible he might ignore anything asked here.
2. This thread is for questions regarding things indirectly related to the rom. Things such as boeffla kernel problems and configurations or the Super SU problem.
3. What you asked is a question relating to a feature request, which should belong to the main thread since it does not concern any other things.

While all of this is true, just for the record: The dev (forkbomb444) has been made aware of the thread via PM, has already added this thread in his OP of main thread and already responded here to a question asked. Although of course I can not say how closely he is/will be monitoring this thread.

Actually this might have helped maybe a week ago. But now we have a test build with flickers fixed (which i'm currently using). Also the fix has been submitted to CM and will be incorporated in official nightlies pretty soon.

[Q] No HDMI out on XXLPB??? Is there a fix??

I know XXLPB isn't a full release, but it would be great if there were a fix for the no HDMI issue. I love ICS on the Galaxy S2, so I won't ever go back to Gingerbread.
You could try custom ics rom

You're using a leaked, unstable ROM so you should therefore expect issues. If you encounter them, instead of making a new thread, read/post in the existing threads dealing with the ROM.
There's currently over 2000 posts in the "main" thread dealing with that ROM.

If that's true, it's irrelevant. What I'm saying is your problem does not warrant a whole new thread, and discussion about a (leaked, buggy, unstable ... oh you get the point) ROM belongs along with all the other discussion about it. The result? Then there is something about HDMI in it - your input, instead of having information scattered around the forums.
Just to add, while a search of that thread for HDMI indeed does not return anything, a search for MHL does.

One could therefore deduce from these two posts (and your own confirmation, which sadly still isn't in that thread ...) that somewhere between LP6 and LPB, MHL was broken by Samsung.
So since your problem is that you "won't ever go back to gingerbread", it should be resolved by using the LP6 build of ICS.

You totally didn't understand what he was saying. He meant, even if there WASN'T a post about HDMI or MHL, you should still post there, because that thread is dealing with issues with that ROM. There was no need to start a whole new thread just for your problem.

[Official ICS] i777 UCLE5 stock from Kies

This is my method I used to get ICS stock from Kies without any mod like modem, kernel... and without any brick.
First stock to UCKH7 from (only use non root version)
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432
or
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1691659
Then you base on stock UCKH7.
Second you use this:
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27707563&postcount=83
You does not need to update to UCKK6. After this step, you get stock ICS official without root
Then you can get this:
Code:
http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.8.1.8-i777.zip
This recovery only replace stock recovery to CWM temporary, but you can backup NANDROID of ICS.
Now I'm trying how to root without install different kernel
At last, i'm try Siyah kernel v3.4.2 for i777 in this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592228 is all right. Now i having super user and CWM recovery, everything work fine like bluetooth, wifi or 4G network (just icon, because in Vietnam just have 3G network ), but don't have Tethering and NFC support.
With me, Kies only detect my i777 with firmware in UCKH7 and UCLE5, with UCKK6 Kies cannot detect that.
Why is this posted in the development forum again? Its fine if people want to use this method but it belongs in general or....not here

You need to change out the stock kernel if you want to use that nandroid backup in the future. Using the kernel with a temp recovery leaves you vulnerable for the brickbug. Please remove that last part or we will see a bunch of I'm brick post.

OP, I have to agree with Phalanx on this.
Firstly, thanks for your post, but it is an instruction, not a ROM.
Secondly, the title is misleading.
Thirdly, this instruction should have been posted in the General section.
Nothing you can do now, but for your reference in the future

Just setting an example, for everyone complaining we do have a report button.
If you hit it most likely a mod or senior mod will see it and attend to it.
Most time just bumping it with complaints will not do anything other than raise your post count and bump the thread to the top so more people see it and the process repeats.
Best to let it die and get closed...
Maybe not closed just moved I'm sure someone could get use of this to get a complete stock version

Cyanogen nightly bug!

I've been having this issue for a while (I think I noticed it from the 20140416 nightly, not sure though). I experience random crashes here and there (everything will freeze and then the UI will "reset" itself), but they mainly happen when I try to pull down the notifications bar after unlocking my phone. It's pathetic that this happens, as I'm sure it's not a big deal to fix!!!
If this is in the wrong thread than please move to the correct section. As I'm a new user here, I can't post in the development section, unfortunately.
The first thing you should do is whipe your phone. Have you done this?
Probably why it's a nightly...

You declared that its easy to fix. So it seems that you have the knowledge to fix it, otherwise you wouldnt know that.
Anyways, dont expect a serious answer if you do several mistakes. First, posts like yours dont belong into the general section. They either belong into the respective rom thread or maybe Q&A. And even if you post there, none of the CM devs will ever read it. They avoid xda.
Then you also brag about a bug in a nightly. Guess what, nightlies are not supported. They are automatically generated builds. A bug report will be ignored (even if you use cm's bug tracker called jira). I can add more mistakes you did if you want.
