[Q] No HDMI out on XXLPB??? Is there a fix?? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know XXLPB isn't a full release, but it would be great if there were a fix for the no HDMI issue. I love ICS on the Galaxy S2, so I won't ever go back to Gingerbread.

You could try custom ics rom

You're using a leaked, unstable ROM so you should therefore expect issues. If you encounter them, instead of making a new thread, read/post in the existing threads dealing with the ROM.
There's currently over 2000 posts in the "main" thread dealing with that ROM.

If that's true, it's irrelevant. What I'm saying is your problem does not warrant a whole new thread, and discussion about a (leaked, buggy, unstable ... oh you get the point) ROM belongs along with all the other discussion about it. The result? Then there is something about HDMI in it - your input, instead of having information scattered around the forums.
Just to add, while a search of that thread for HDMI indeed does not return anything, a search for MHL does.

One could therefore deduce from these two posts (and your own confirmation, which sadly still isn't in that thread ...) that somewhere between LP6 and LPB, MHL was broken by Samsung.
So since your problem is that you "won't ever go back to gingerbread", it should be resolved by using the LP6 build of ICS.

You totally didn't understand what he was saying. He meant, even if there WASN'T a post about HDMI or MHL, you should still post there, because that thread is dealing with issues with that ROM. There was no need to start a whole new thread just for your problem.

My opinion, just wait for the next leak. Shouldn't be far away now. Or for official in a couple of weeks if rumours are true.

Yeah probably.

MHL seems to be working in XXLPH, but I'm going to wait for a full release. It won't be long.

At last, I 777 feels like the Captivate

I always felt Captivate was in the forefront of development (when I had it, back in the days). Even now, it already have ICS (I need to dig out the old captivate, glad I didn't sell it). But in last months, so many I9100 ROMs are porting, it feels like the old days with the Captivate.

And this is the reason why I dont mind the hellraised roms getting their own threads (or at least their own section). This thread is case and point. (this is in reference to the other thread where it was in discussion about what to do with those roms, since they technically aren't new development). Hellraising i9100 rom's is nothing new but many people either (1) didnt know about it because they dont read or (2) they didnt want to try it because they were too nervous to attempt it.

We gaining new devs and porters. It's good only took a few months. I took the past week reading up on a ton of things. Figured out how to edit stuff for multi-dpi and how to build a rom. It's been interesting. I'm happy I finally took the time to learn some more about it.

Fully is not the right word. How about mostly. Audiohacked kernel will allow for in call audio but it can be unreliable(See Entropy's op, do not expect call audio to be without issue). From most accounts its a nice Rom to "toy"(from OP, too) with but revert back to whatever stable GB rom you're used to after done playing
Maybe try Reading through his thread to see if it's "fully working"?(Thread is not that old so its pretty easy to read through the entire thing) Here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512900

New here, previously a Captivate guy. Got the SGSII today. Not happy with having to downgrade to Gingerbread, but I can deal with it. Hopefully there is a fully working ICS put out soon.

[Q] Noob to XDA Dev. Looking to see if I understand this right regarding ICS ROMs.

Hey guys! I've lurked around here for a while. I bought a Samsung Galaxy S II for ATT a few months ago after being a longtime iPhone user. Therefore, I'm fairly new to the whole Android tweaking process. I want to install an ICS ROM onto my phone, particularly CM9. I've read the stickies, and am really trying to understand, but at the same time, do not wish to brick my phone. So could someone tell me if this is correct? Or where I'm wrong? Based on what I've read here, to install ICS, I need to...
1. Root my phone as outlined in the thread for that. (The one about not activating the yellow triangle. Since I'm on 2.3.6, I'll need to use "Odin3 One-Click Downloader".)
2. Backup my apps and texts and crap using Titanium Backup to my SD card.
3. Install the proper kernel (where do I find this?) using Mobile Odin.
4. Make sure CWM is active, backup NAND (I assume this is an option?) and flash CM9.
5. Flash Google Apps.
6. Restore my Ti backup.
Thanks guys for the help! And sorry if I'm being stupid/completely misunderstanding.
Read, useless thread is useless

Read, read and read some more. Do a search for Hellraiser as there are no true ICS ROMs for this phone yet, only i900 ports.
If you need to ask questions like this, you are not ready for ICS and ICS is not ready for you.
Since I9100 kernel source code has only been out for a week and we had a bunch of I777-specific **** to fix - while lots of progress has been made things are not quite working yet.
man some people are rude in here....
And others are lazy. Welcome to XDA.
There are a lot of different roms. Usually they rewrite the kernel within the install of the rom. But basically you have the right idea...

Facts are facts, loser. There is not yet a fully-functioning official ICS ROM released for the i777, so any talk of one is premature. The guy admits in the title of this thread that he is a noob and doesn't quite understand. These are exactly the people who should not be flashing ANYTHING, let alone a ROM that is not ready for primetime. But keep on encouraging him and others so that the forum gets filled with people needing help to fix what they messed up. I'm sure you'll be rewarded with tons of adulation for your efforts. Troll indeed.

Battery Problem

Since upgrading to ICS i have a problem with the battery.
Firstly, it drains a lot quicker. But worse than that, if i plug it in to charge the charging indicator comes on but the phone doesn't charge. I can leave it for several hours and battery percentage won't have increased at all and the phone is absolutely burning red hot! So now everytime i need to charge my phone i have to switch it off to charge it. This only happened the day i upgraded to ICS.

Use a bit of common sense. Why do you think it would get hot? Logically, two thoughts come to mind
1). Something is making the CPU/GPU operate at a high frequency - see my previous reply to find what.
2). Something is wrong with your hardware - contact Samsung.
There may well be further points, but it's a start for you.

As for the battery issue, you need a control to measure this against. Like someone mentioned earlier go back to GB, if the problem goes away then you can atleast be confident its to do with ICS. Are you on stock ICS (unrooted?), in which case you probably best getting in touch with manufacturer. If you've installed a custom rom etc, try reinstalling the rom
AAAaaw this thread had so much potential..... but it ended soon
if your on custom kernel or rom it could be kernel issue.
it could be a modem issue
so the answer remain go back to stock GB. no custom rom/kernel

Messaging

Hi there
I am struggling to find some info regarding the stock messaging app. Does this app lag scrolling up and down through conversations? This is the problem I have, you can see the screen tearing while you scroll slowly up and down, which is horrible and no matter if I try to do a factory reset (using kies or flashing firmware with odin) the issue will not get fixed. I think Jellybean has broken this app.
Does everyone think the same? I am 90 percent sure that this did not happen on ICS? please heeelllpp

I do agree that the ICS messaging works faster than that of JB's. It is a stock thing, so I believe there is no fix yet? Tsk
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
So you did notice the ics app faster and smoother. I was really confused because there were 2 updates and I couldn't find out which one messed it up. I don't think there is a fix yet. I only asked Samsung and they told me to call the S3 support but I didn't.
I do believe there are going to be more updates for the S3 even another version of Android which hopefully will fix it. I did ask a few people but theu said their messaging app worked fine but I think they didn't notice what I meant or they wouldn't care too much.
You can install jkays framework on stock odexed Rom and then with his deluxe settings app (paid) you can lock dialler and contacts in memory,.......regarding the tearing whilst scrolling, this nearly always happens when you have an accumulation of too many messages I keep my inbox pretty clean and never experience any tearing
