Anyone else finding that their bkb50 keypad does not type despite the cursor arrow fully working? Is my keyboard faulty or is there a setting I have missed.

I just installed the touch keypad program so I didnt have to use the keyboard to text all the time. So this xt9 is installed and is ok for the keypad but is also working on my physical keyboard making it almost unusable because of it. There anyway to just be able to use xt9 just on the touch keyboard and not on the physical keyboard?
Is there any good soft keyboard other than Swype (hate the off-center space bar in landscape) and the Samsung soft keyboard that has arrow keys and text selection?
Alternatively, is there any way to turn off the annoying "typewriter sound effect" on the Samsung keyboard?
Really like HTC_IME mod, but with the Vibrant's lack of a trackball or touchpad...
Hi Guys,

I have Omega 6 rom. I tried to change keyboard but could not find a way
to get the mic button. And yes it is checked in the keyboard setting.
Any ideas ?
Update
I downloaded Ultra Keyboard from the play store, installed it, went to parameters/language and input, chose ultra keyboard and got the mic button along
with the Ultra keyboard.
I then choose the Android keyboard (in the language and input settings), unchecked the ultra keyboard and ... tada got the regular android keyboard with the mic button.
Problem solved ! Still don't know why there was no mic button at first.
You can change the button's functionality by keeping it pressed and then selecting the mic button if you want on the stock keyboard.
Just long press the settings key on the keyboard (left of the space bar), and you will get the voice input key. The last selection will remain on that settings key.
Today while carrying my Prime on the dock while open, I randomly pressed or held a button. It produced a popup that allowed me to change my input method from the physical keyboard to an on screen Asus/Android keyboard.
This is a really cool feature (especially for typing other languages). Does anyone know how to reproduce this popup?
Did you press the "keyboard" icon that is displayed in the system tray when docked?
I've noticed that the keyboard cover (and any external keyboard actually) does not use the shift key to create a capital letter. I recall that this was not a problem before, and I'm seeing it on all my Android devices.
How are you all resolving this?
OK, I've figured this out, and I'm typing on the keyboard cover now, and shift for capitals are working as expected.
What I did:
I looked into the input settings, and found the shortcut keys. Discovered [Meta] + [space] is the option to switch keyboards. I assumed [meta] was the search button. When I hit that combination, I saw a "Samsusng" toast pop up, and upon testing in my apps again, lo and behold, shift capitalized my letters.
Thanks for watching!
