Hook your SD card to a SD card reader attached to a PC and see if you can back up your files and reformat it.

[Q] AT&T phone not seeing the ext micro sd card.

For some reason cwm does not see my ext micro sd card. I placed a custom rom on it and when go to install the Rom it does not see the sd card, it just sees the internal sd card. Root explore does not see the sd card either. Only app that sees it ous Astro. Anyone else have this problem.

Root Explorer does see the card, you just need to go to the /mnt folder.
For CWM? You need to actually put the rom on the internal storage. Our version of CWM does not support the external card right now. In the future? Yes, most likely.

Ok thank you very much, I did find the external card on in root explorer. And I will place my roms on the internal sd card.

Why do you want to re-name the SD card?
Unmount and remount the SD card, perhaps? Or format via recovery, if rooted?
Is it SDXC or SDHC?
SDXC might cause problems sometimes - exFAT, FAT32 and all that jazz.

thanks for the quick response!
i want to rename since i dont know how to go about it otherwise. all apps say the card isnt present. as i remember it used to show up as sdcard-ext in all my previous phones
ive unmounted and remounted the card a couple of times but nothing. i havent formatted via recovery which i'll try tonight
its SDHC and yes im rooted and running AOKP build 40
There's a major is with really external SD cards on the S3

screwed!
I could access mine. Just go to mnt/EXTSDcard.
I can't move apps to it though, like everyone else...

Enable "Up to root" under "Root Settings" in the app, and your external SD card can be accessed at /external_sd and/or /storage/sdcard1.

well Enjoy u r new device:good:
u can only send a part of the apps on sd card without rooting( use app2sd) or if u root u r device u can use link2sd and it will send the whole app to sd card.

Hi Afshin,
I think there is a script to emulate and switch the external SD card and make it the internal SD card to the system (the USB storage) and the USB storage to the external card.
I don't know the exact link so you have to search in XDA. Search for "switching external SD card to internal memory card".
