Candy 5 native Wifi hotspot - Sprint LG G3

Hey guys... Been a long time since I've flashed anything on this G3. I just installed candy 5, and enabled root through the dev options. I am trying to get native wifi hotspot to work with the Shortcut Master Lite app, it doesn't show the lg hidden menu options when I search "apn". Am I missing a step here.
Update: I see that candy has the wifi hotspot built in to the rom. Gonna go and test it today.

ViperRom IC3D Tethering – Sprint (ICS) / How to configure.

How to get tethering working on ViperRom Version Beta 3 on the HTX EVO 3D for sprint customers. Note I installed ver Beta 3.1 and after a day of playing with different combination of tethering I gave up and rolled back to version 3.
For me the build in portable hotspot app wouldn’t work at all and I gave up on it. I hear some things work on some phones and not others so you can give it a try if you want.
Using the correct combination I was capable of getting “WiFi Tether” to work correctly.
1) You MUST have a more current version of WiFi Tether installed in order to have the profile settings you need. I am using version 3.1-Beta14
2) WiFi Tether caches settings and some of its drivers get overwritten during installs. Open App Info on WiFi Tether, Force Stop the application, and clear the cache and data.
3) To fix any driver problems reinstall WiFi Tether replacing the existing one (even if it’s the same version).
4) Reboot.
5) Here is the trick that makes its work for me and a few other people I have seen. Start WiFi Tether, open its settings page, select “Change Device-Profile”, and then scroll down and select “Samsung Galaxy Nexus (CDMA/LTE)”. I know it’s not the right phone and the 3D is listed in possible profiles but that is the settings that work for ViperRom.
6) Test Tethering, with any luck it should be working now.
Great guide, but it's really common knowledge by now with all the threads and what not. Simpler method:
1) Install wifi tether for root users from the market
2) Set device-profile to generic ICS
3) enable mms clamping and routing fix
And you're good to go!
Still, thanks for posting the guide as I'm pretty sure a lot of people don't yet know. There should be a sticky or something with how to tether on ICS on the Evo 3D.
Confirmed working with:
-Cyanogenmod Devil Toast
-Sense 3.6
-Sense 4.0

[Q] CM9 ROM missing wireless settings

I installed the CM9 ROM from this link last night and have a couple of questions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679957
It installed fine but the "Wireless and Networks" section was missing from Settings so I wasn't able to join a wireless network initially. When I started Google Play app it asked to join a network so that was fine but then I wasn't able to change network. I ended up installing the free Wifi Manager app so I can switch wireless networks. Is this a known issue with this ROM?
Also Chrome doesn't work currently - is there a setting to make it work (does it need HW acceleration?) or should I stick with the stock browser?

Issues with Wireless Tether

I'm rooted and unlocked, running CleanRom...
Downloaded both Open Garden and Wireless Tether for root. Both aren't working. Open Garden crashes when I turn the wifi on. My phone is my only source of internet at my farm, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have gone through the settings and don't see anything out of the normal. WiFi is off on the phone. Does hotspot need to be on? If I turn the hotpot on will I incur the hotspotting charges? Again, any help would be great.
Check the development forum here, I don't have one yet, but they list what you need to do there.

Try TrevE Mod's app...works really well. Settings for the Note 2 are below.
Install WifiTether_TrevE_Mod_11_22_2012
Set Profile to Samsung Galaxy S3
Set Setup-Method to Netd-Ndc
Check Send Netd Max Client Cmd
Enable WiFi Encryption
Channel 01
Check WiFi-driver reload 2
Check Routing fix
All you need to do is activate the hotspot with a widget or a status bar icon & you won't be charged.
There are plenty of free widgets in the playstore + I believe that ROM already has a status bar icon.
Just get the portable hotspot toggle, it just uses the factory hotspot without the feature check. Works great.
Thanks for the replies.
The hotspot toggle that come with CleanRom doesn't work. Turns on bright green, fades to light green, and switches off.
TrevE installed, and profiting.
This is the link that I used for success.
Thanks again!
tried all the settings and links here and had no luck. Followed the instructions and modified tether in this link and it worked for me running stock rooted de-odexed.

3 Days after purchasing my phone from Sprint. I rooted, unlocked, S-OFF and put ViperMAX 1.0.1 my phone.
I mainly use my cell phone for wifi tethering for my other devices: asus transformer, ipad and laptop so wifi tethering is very important to me. I tested and used the native wifi app for about a week and found that the internet on my phone would go on and off from time to time making certain things like streaming and downloading files a big pain. I would lose connection all the time and it was a complete waste of my time trying to connect. I researched and applied every update and everything possible to get the native wifi tethering working but I never got the performance I wanted. I gave in and purchased this app for 2 bucks and followed the settings above. Everything works great!
After about 3 weeks of testing and using this app, I did want to make sure credit is given here. The app has stabilized my internet while broadcasting my wifi tethering and I can be tethering for hours without any worries. I've left the wifi tether app on for 10+ hours and because my internet connection was good, I was able to stream/download steadily for the entire 10+ hours. Note: This app reminds me of the old old wifi tether apk.
Only two things I would want from this app is maybe a function to change the background of the app and being able to usb tether with this app so I don't have to go through other apps to do so. Both are very minor things and my other all experiences with this app has been good. I hope this helps someone who has/or been having the same problems as me resolve the issue. *Remember to follow the steps from the first post EXACTLY*
Thanks to the initial post and the developer!
Does Grasso's app work with rooted, unlocked, S-OFF, stock ROM? Or must I have a custom ROM as well? Like many, I've had a rough time getting wifi tether to work on the One max.
Should be able to edit system\customize\ACC\default.xml and shouldnt have to remove an apps
I was using FoxFi while on JB but ever since I upgraded to KitKat it then said I needed a tethering plan. So I tried this app with your settings and it works like a charm. Thanks.

Question Rooted Stock Image - Hot Spot Tethering, no internet connection is there any fix?

Hey I just reverted back to stock from Cherish OS, kept having way too many issues with the ROM rebooting or just freezing. I managed to get hotspot working on Cherish by editing the build prop to include:
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
then pushing adb shell: settings put global tether_dun_required 0
Was working fine minus the crashes.
Now going back to stock I havnt had any unexpected crashes but I cannot seem to get the tethering to work anymore using magiskhide prop config. Does anyone know what else needs to be done to get wifi tethering working again? It looks like the DUN APN setting on my custom APN does not stick around after saving it, I dont know if it was enabled on Cherish OS somehow or what the difference between the two set ups would realistically be.
Edit:
Solution Provided by lentm:
"If you're rooted, try using VPN Hotspot: https://github.com/Mygod/VPNHotspot/releases"
Just enabled wlan0.
Still looking for a solution, If someone can point me to where I might need to start to resolve this I would appreciate it.
Ex; does it need a custom keneral? or Radio?
What is the limiting factor, that doesnt allow the connected device to get internet?
If you're rooted, try using VPN Hotspot: https://github.com/Mygod/VPNHotspot/releases
I can confirm the linked app works and replicates the built in Wifi Hotspot feature. I have it running on a T Mobile, bootloader unlocked, rooted, stock firmware, and on Android 11. Worked with my desktop, other phone, and Smart TV. I do not have it as a part of my plan. No VPN, port, or other nonsense to setup on the client to get it working. Just put in the WiFi spot password and off you go!.
Thanks for the link! I was never able to find a way to get the built in one working with out an app of some kind. I have no idea what would be needed to patch the factory hotspot to get it working without an app.

Great. BTW, I think the reason why it's recommended to use with the VPN (such as AdGuard) is to hide the tether usage.
I was a bit skeptical, but after I enabled the wlan0 toggle it worked! thank you soo much I have been struggling with this for a while.

Something to note here I wasn't using Adguard and had no issues with the hotspot vpn app. I wasn't using the "Temporary Hotspot" toggle in the app either. Using the wlan0 option gave me Internet on any device I tried while on T Mobile service / Towers. I went out of town and I'm now roaming on US Cellular indicated on my notification bar. This hotspot method stopped working for me. I could connect to the hotspot but no internet. After some research I found using Adguard does resolves this as you mentioned. In the VPN hotspot app you must choose "tun0" as the upstream interface.
