I broke my Galaxy S4 - bricked - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hey - I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Verizon. I was trying to root and unlock it. I messed it up really horribly.
I just want to put it back to factory. Sigh.
I put it into download mode - volume down + power + home. My PC won't even recognize it.(Odin)
When I start the phone normally, I get the Verizon tone, but nothing on the screen.
If I boot into recover mode, I get the message about firmware problem detected. So, I can't even factory reset it from there.
I'm not looking for you to fix my issue, I'll do that myself.
I just want to set everything back to default.
What would be my best bet to start?

Well you should try a different cable and computer

Reset
I think at this point, I want to put this phone back to factory defaults. If I can get to that, I can at least have a common starting point if I bugger it up again.
I'm sure there is a post somewhere in here about getting a 'bricked' Galaxy S4 Verizown back to stock.
Can someone point me to that?
Thanks much!
G

If it gets into download mode try a different cable or try to re install the drivers for the phone and see if odin detects it.

Thanks
I will try that - thanks for the suggestion.

[Q] Help...unable to go into Recovery.

Hi everyone. I have a samsung galaxy s vibrant on android 2.2. I am a total noob with any modifications but am going overseas next month and wanted to unlock my phone. After looking into rooting etc. I downloaded odin and darky's ROM resurrection edition. I followed the prompts to go into recovery and wipe etc. and remove battery and turn back on. After using odin and restarting my phone now just flashes the start screen showing galaxy s GT-I9000. I can't enter recovery mode just download mode. I'm unsure what to do and even tried mounting another recovery file on odin which lead me to the same point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try re-flashing it and see if that works, sometimes that's all it takes. It's possible you just had a bad flash.
I've tried about 5 times now and it seems to keep failing to boot after flash and sticking on the initial boot screen and flashing on and off. Is there a way to download and flash an original ROM and mount on odin to start over?
Try getting into download mode. Hold and continue to hold up & down volume controls while holding in the power button. When the Vibrant logo comes up release only the power button. If you do get into recovery that way scroll down to install zip from sd card and install whatever rom you've got on there that you want to use. Let me know if that works or not.
I can still only get into download mode. I've tried flashing again with both ROMs I have and they both are doing the same thing. Holy frustrating lol

Look for a hard surface... concrete for example.. now take your phone and throw it as hard as you can... Just kidding don't do that, that's a permanent reboot. I know the frustration, I've been there many times. You may want to go back and read through the noob guide, I'm not sure what else to suggest. Hopefully someone else will read this and have a better suggestion. Good luck.
haha yeah the thought crossed my mind. I appreciate your help. I'm still reading through the forum. Most instructions seem to require me to reach recovery mode or usb debugging. My phone is no longer being recognized on the computer but odin is obviously still recognizing so I'm going to try a fresh 2.2 on odin and see if that works.
Good luck, I'm rooting for ya. If that does not work and your close to a T-mobile store I'd just run it in and have them check it out, they may have to replace it.
Thanks again. I'm actually in Canada and using a sub provider from bell "virgin mobile".

[Q] Is my phone hosed?

I am on Cyanogen Mod 7 with my Vibrant and was attempting last night to do a factory data reset on my phone through the menu screen. The phone didn't seem to like me attempting to do that and now every time I boot, no matter which button combination I try I can never get past the black Samsung Vibrant boot-up splash screen.
Is there anything I can do to reset my phone somehow? I've searched the forums and google and can't find anyone with quite my same problem.
Thanks for any help that can be offered,
Brian
Hi Brian,
Since you factory reset the phone, then you don't care about your data at this point? If that is the case, then just boot back into recovery with the appropriate key combos and reflash CM7. You might have to do it twice and don't forget to wipe while you are in there.
See here for Key Combos and another user's CM issue.
I have tried both methods (Froyo and Gingerbread bootloaders) and neither return me back into recovery. If I try the gingerbread method I just reset back to the Samsung screen every 10 seconds or so. If I try the Froyo method, nothing actually happens, it just stays there at the Samung Screen and does nothing.
You are correct in that I don't care about my data at this point.
Thanks,
Brian
Could always try Odin.
Make sure you have ODIN OPEN with admin privileges!
1.) Take off your back cover, remove your sim & mirco sd card.
2.) Remove your battery.
Make sure you have the USB plugged into your PC but NOT your phone!
3.) Hold the volume buttons.
4.) Put the battery in.
5.) Put the USB in.
You don't necessarily need the download mode image to be present. As long as you are getting the COM ID to light up yellow in ODIN, just flash back to stock like normal.

Then reinstall CM from scratch. Gotta go for now but I'll check in later on.
Got it up and running late last night. Thanks so much for your help. Was never quite sure what ODIN was but now that I see how it works, it makes sense that it's the fallback plan for people that have done dumb things to their phone like I did.
Thanks again,
Brian
Yep. Odin has saved my bacon more times than I can count.

[Q] Need help with my phone SG isw11sc

Hi everyone,
I'm sorry if ever I'm posting this on the wrong section cause I'm not sure if this is a problem from android or samsung.
I'm not good at all when it comes to phone troubleshooting so I will try my luck and ask questions about what have happened to my phone just awhile ago. I got this phone from Japan(Samsung Galaxy SII Wimax isw11sc) months ago and I only use it for multimedia purposes as it is region locked and I am at another country atm. everything is running fine until my phone asked for a software update(not really sure what upgrade that was) and I decided to give it a shot and let it download the updates. I left it to do some chores and when I came back to check on it, it reboot looped itself on the AU(mobile phone company from japan) logo.
I did some research and found some things like hard reset and download mode. I tried to do the hard reset(power/home/volume up) method but I can't seem to access the settings instead, the phone keeps on showing me this "Preparing for S/W update. Please wait." after a few seconds, the phone will reset itself back to the reboot loop.
I tried to do the download mode using odin mode but then, I realized that my phone and computer won' connect via USB port because well, my phone won't boot. Also downloaded the manual driver but my pc won't recognize it.(win7 if that helps.)
Please tell me what have happened and what I can do to fix this problem, I don't really care if i lose everything that I have stored on my phone, I just want it to work again. Help will be much appreciated, Thank you.

[Q] Attempted OS Install, Cannot Get Into Recovery Mode

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 SCH-R760.
What happened: Tried to update phone from standard IceCreamSandwich to Jelly Bean via Samsung provided SimpleUpgradeTool. Very new to flashing phones, forgot to check model number, first attempt failed. Eventually got the right one (difficult to do with my model apparently), and the mobile network wouldn't work. Was told to reset APN, could not find it anywhere in the system.
Got fed up and decided to revert back to original OS, which failed. Waited overnight (it was late) with the phone off. Found the right file (just going to go back to Jelly Bean), however whenever I attempted to get into recovery mode it told me there was not enough power and to charge the phone. Phone was plugged in, this happened a couple of times. Now after the phone has been plugged in for well over 3 hours I cannot get the phone to power on or anything, it absolutely will not respond. Attempted to use Kies, will not recognize my phone model and is waiting for the phone to be connected anyway. When plugged in (trying/using various different cords) I have a little faint blue light flashing in the top left corner of the phone (not the phone screen).
The phone has been in excellent condition up until this point, and I have little reason to believe that my battery just suddenly went 100% bad after showing no signs of decay in recent weeks. Any suggestions?
How did you try to revert? But kind of sounds like it might be hard bricked. If you can't get get into Download mode by Vol Down and Power and it isn't charging not even sure if this would work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/general/ref-usb-jig-faq-frequently-questions-t1402286
But unless you try another battery or something like that jig, and it does not power up to any screen, then your only hope would be a JTAG service. I recommend these guys:

Just tried to use the samsung quicktool program and just install the old OS back onto the phone.

I'm not familiar with the QuickTool. Why not use Odin? It's the preferred method for most popular Samsung phones.

Need help with Samsung Galaxy tab 3 lite T110

I had rooted my T110, but it was still very slow. I took everything I didn't use out of there, including the default keyboard. I ended up getting a new tablet through a Verizon promotion, so decided to sell the T100. A friend was looking for one for her son, I told her to look at it and if he wanted it, to let me get it ready. I explained I had done a few things that needed to be undone before he could reset it. She either didn't listen or didn't understand. When he said he wanted it, she factory reset it. It started up and all seemed fine until she found there was no keyboard.
I have used Odin 3.09 and tried to put stock firmware on it. Odin says it was successful but it was still coming up without a keyboard. Now I can only boot into download mode. It only stays on for a couple seconds in any mode except download mode, and even then if it is not connected via usb to the computer it shuts down. I can't get it into recovery mode at all and as I said, to try to just start it, it gets to the first page saying Samsung Tab 3 Lite, then almost immediately shuts down.
Can anyone help me find an answer for this? I might be wrong, but keep thinking since I am able to get it to work with Odin, it is possible that I haven't totally lost it and still may be able to get a few bucks out of it.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
