Custom font size on stock ROM - Moto E Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I have custom system font size on Motorola stock lollipop ROM like that of CM12.1? There are only 4 options on stock ROM namely small, medium, large, very large. What I want is ability to control the percentage of font size like CM has.
Thanks in advance.

Nevermind guys, problem solved. There are loads of apps available on the playstore for this purpose.

Which can do it bro ? tell me name of that app please

This one works without root: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.bfont, you need to reboot after every change. There's a root mode as well that lets you change size on the fly.
This one needs root: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.gatay.android.fss and is the best for the purpose. I use this one. Default font size is way too large and looks rubbish to me.

noob question about roms

I'm new to rooting and roms but I have a somewhat dumb question, lol. when a custom rom becomes available for the lg l9 p769 will that change all aspects of the phone? I'm mainly talking about the ridiculous large fonts used by lg. will all fonts be able to be changed globally including font and font size? will everything be completely customizable?
(anybody correct me if I'm wrong) yes it will. But it depends on the ROM if it's a CM it will... If it's stock android it will.... If it's a stock LG... It won't... But as of now it looks like only CM so in short.... Yes...

you're correct but there are only 3 different fonts. what I really wanted to change was the font size, even at 'small' everything is very large so I did some reading and it's actually the lcd density that I want to change? I changed it but it screws things up on the screen.. would that be something I need a custom rom for to change lcd density and everything look okay
You don't need a custom rom to change density, one app to do that is pimp my rom. But it's a dangerous business, make sure to cwm backup everything first.

maybe you didn't read my whole post, I did change the lcd density (with rom toolbox pro) and like I said it screwed things up on the screen, empty spaces and you could see part of the left screen before even scrolling to it. so I guess my question is what would fix those issues? or is it possible that changing the lcd density on my specific device is impossible?
Use pimp my rom and change the density back to 234
That's the original one
pimp my rom is noob proof, you can undo any changes you made.

not trying to be rude but are you even reading what I type? I didn't say I needed to change the density back to original, I already did that and the original setting was 240, not 234. are you saying that pimp my rom will give me different results than rom toolbox pro?
There is no way yet to fix this. Most of the time changing density will d do this and so it's recommended that you not change density.
Actually you will need to change the number to a supported value that is common for android. I forget what most of them are sorry to say but they can be found by a Googling
The app "lcd density" has all the ones that are usable preset. Also you can try a launcher to bring down the size as well
Sent from my LG-P769 using xda premium
there's an app on the market called big font. I use it on my tablet to increase font size, but you can also scale down. haven't tried it yet on P769.
thank you for the information. I've tried using the supported values with no luck, things are still messed up on screen and even put my phone into a bootloop once. I have tried a couple font sizer apps but they do not change the font size globally, some things stay the same like the fonts on the homescreen. it really bothers me that LG's theme or whatever it is looks so plain and almost like an old version of android, when I see ICS running on other phones it's alot different and much better to look at visually. I'm assuming all of these things will be changed when a custom rom is released? I don't know a whole lot about this at the moment but I'm trying to learn..

Ditto. I believe my LCD Density Value is set to 245. But themer can't handle that so I am wondering what people are using?

Any intention to support multi DPI?
Alot of Custom ROMS allow easy changing of the DPI, Seems your limiting your potential market.
I Love Themer, I just cannot use it, as Landscape and Multi DPI do not work properly.

I completely understand the complexity of the multi DPI.
But has anyone considered some pre defined DPI's
So at least the user can get a Near Enough DPI, and then tweaking the theme to fit perfectly is only minimal changes.
Again just a theory, I have never really worked on DPI.

There's a strange relationship with a device's DPI and resolution, which is why many device aren't supported (such as the G3). We've tried what you've suggested, however "near-enough" isn't what the average user wants

Hi, unfortunately the Mega isn't supported just yet due to its resolution. Hopefully it will be soon though!
I have a rooted Nexus 5 with SlimKat ROM running. SlimKat changes the DPI by default, but using BuildProp Editor I changed it to the stock 445 DPI. However, Themer says my resolution is wrong. If I set Themer as my default launcher, I can press the home button and see the default Themer appearance, I just can't download anything from the app. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
I was running trents rom on the GN2 at 270 and it looked ok. I have gotten away from this application recently though.

MIUI 7 Change DPI and the side effects?

Hi all,
I have found a way to change the dpi without root, just using adb and cmd and it worked like a charm...well, almost. There are a couple of UI glitches that appear when you reduce (or increase for that matter) the dpi.
Firstly, the icons on the home screen mess up, but that's not SUCH an issue as you can install another launcher or in my case, find an icon pack that doesn't show the mess up quite as much (my preferable choice because you see the icons set in different areas of the UI, such as the notifications shade and recents menu, settings, etc.)
Secondly, and the most annoying, is the crop function messes up in the weirdest way. Whether it be when changing wallpaper or trying to crop a picture in CamScanner, the image you choose appears zoomed in and there is no way to zoom out or even move the image around, only zoom in further.
Now, my question is, has anyone managed to find a suitable dpi that MIUI does not have a problem with, or are there some standard dpi's MIUI uses apart from 480? Or has anyone found a way around any of these issues (or any other issues they may have encountered when changing the dpi)? Last but not least, is there a custom version of MIUI out there, or a rom that has it's visuals (and camera app) but custom tailored to suit various dpi's and other modifications?
I really cannot live with the stock dpi of 480, it's like using a phone made for old people, waaaay too large EVERYTHING on a large screen, I want to see more on a large screen. But I also am not yet prepared to go off MIUI as I really like their UI, visually, and I know any other rom will lose a lot of camera quality amoungst some other things like battery life, etc.
Thanks guys in advance for any advice.

No, the original is 480, which is too large...where did you get the number 386 from? perhaps it is another one of their phone's stock DPI, which means MIUI might not warp on this DPI value? Will check it out, but any information you have, please let me know

used some of the suggested DPI's but...
so, thanks guys, used some of the suggested DPI values, 386 and 375, and mostly everything works fine....except still some small issues with the icons and the cropping. try and set a wallpaper for a whatsapp group for example, photo shows as zoomed in and cannot zoom out to choose a crop of the WHOLE image like I used to....have attached some screenshots of what happens to my icons....is this possibly because I am not rooted that the DPI value is not getting set in to the system correctly? Is anyone who is rooted facing the same issues or not?
might convince me to root, this is the first device i have managed to be happy without rooting lol

I've tried: no way unless using root, and I don't think an app that requires root would be useful for most people.
Thanks for considering this.
Is Root required because the entry is in the secure section of the database?
This ROM has Root: https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/amazfit/paceficator-project-wos-2-6-0-12-rom-v0-t3794922
Having Root is for some of us a must.
In case the function is implemented, would the App still be working on non-rooted phones except for the inversion function or would the whole thing only be working on rooted watches?
Edit: I found a way to do the inversion on the watch via the App SetEdit after giving it permisssion to write to secure section:
pm grant by4a.setedit22 android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
After looking a little deeper into this I think that your app doesn't need root to access it. WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS should be enough as I wrote above.

Just installed on stratos. Is it correct that the icon is not centred on the screen on the last page?
Edit: Sorry realised its just an icon and not a widget.....
Hey mate, thanks for this app - works like a charm on Stratos. It helps me a lot as I am on contact lenses
I use the Stratos mainly as a sports watch, so this app also make the font of the "autolap-window" large. I now have a nice, big number which I can see even when running in the dark.
Do you think there is any chance to get an different font type for the normal sports-mode windows (those with 4 or 6 data fields)? The stock font is a bit compressed, a simple Arial standard font would work better.
Regards!

I don't think it's possible, the Sport and locked screen modes aren't normal Android screens so they aren't affected by system settings. Maybe it's possible changing the font, but as far as I know you need to install them as system file so root is needed.

That's interesting - your app makes the font of the "autolap-window" larger and in sports mode also the labeling of the fields, but not the text itself.
I wrote to customer support, maybe they might do something.
Thanks a lot anyways, 130% helps a lot!
I am already using this app to increase the font size which is pretty useful. But how do I change font to any custom font of my choice?
Any help? The moment I press change font, watch restarts... Not sure if I am missing something in here..

No, BIP firmware isn't based on Android.
