My Options. Need Advice.. Shattered phone screen - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I would replace the screen cause your example of a phone is one of the worst you could of picked......which has bad malware issues along with lag (due to screen resolution) and overheating issues (due to screen resolution again) and max brightness is terrible

Either you are the most unlukiest guy around or you have screwed something up!
Are you rooted? Unlocked bootloader? Have you removed or frozen an app?

i'v done 4 things :
1) update the phone
2) rooted the phone
3) kick the **** of the SprintOmaDm service with Titanium Backup.
4) change in the Build.Prop :
smoother scrolling
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=150
Well id say number 3 is your problem.
We told you how to disable sprint activation in the Disable Sprint Activation The Easy Way thread!
The way you've done it through Titanium may be the cause of your lock screen issues, sure I've read in another thread of this issue. Try searching, you will be surprised

Unsure regarding the screen as I play games on the Photon without any issues
If you regret it that much then consider getting rid of it and get something else.
Me personally love this phone and when I tell you i've had around 7 different handsets this year alone, this is the only one I want to keep. I've had the SGSII, HTC Sensation, LG 2X, Desire HD, Atrix etc, etc but this phone is stunning right out the box, speedy, not too much **** on it, has so much potential its unreal.
The days of the Photon are just beginning.

Well the LG 2X has half the available RAM as the Photon, 8GB of storage compared to the Photon.
The SGSII is a great device, very fast, **** loads of ROM's but far too thin for my liking, feels very cheap in the hand, when you go to pick it up off a flat surface I've forgotten how many times I dropped it.
But you need to be happy and the Photon ticks everything for me

Bloody hell man its a frigging phone, use it as one or get a cheap nasty Nokia
Also you keep opening threads on this that and the other and then in your last post here you say you still have the sprint film on your screen and wonder if it is affecting your screen, can you actually see anything through the text on the film?
Man I feel whatever device you get we will be seeing more of you in different XDA forums, opening pointless threads!

Vibrant home button leakage

I've been searching on google and on here and can't seem to find a thread on it.
My home button led seems to leak half way into my display when i'm viewing a black screen.
The screen would display a black image and having the buttons on makes the home button leak on the screen
It is really annoying... Anyone else have this issue? it looks like a lightsaber on my phone...

Given where you sent this message from, I think you may be in the wrong forum.
If not, I can't say I've had such an issue, but apart from using a mod to turn off the LEDs for good, there's probably not much you can do.
i'm using my hd2 because I just got my vibrant from Samsung for a screen replacement....
No one has a problem if the led from home leaking?

Exact same problem with the home key, gradually learnt to live with it
How bad is yours? I just need to feel better about it lol
My gf is not as bad as mine

In complete darkness it gets to about half of the screen. In normal light its not as bad.

Yea I have the same problem, My gfs doesnt. I think its a factory defect when they are putting it together. One little pinhole in the paint that seperates the softkeys from the rest of the screen and boom, you have led glare half way up the screen.
I had 3 vibrants replaced an they all had same problem but I dont care buttons are off most of the time
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I have this problem but it's very minor. I barely see it when dark. Do they just give you a new vibrant for replacement? Were you able to force them to let you do like an upgrade to a better phone or something?
no they replaced the chrome bezel and the housing + the display and glass...
It's practically new now..

Same exact thing here. The home button leakage is on most(if not all) vibrants. But it's only noticable in near or in pitch dark really. Using 2.2.1 roms turn off the lights while not being used but for some reason, that particular build on whatever rom always decreases sensitivity to the point where going back to used applications(holding home) doesn't work while the processor is being used extensively(800-1ghz) which is REALLY annoying. Anyone else by chance?

Since doing the work it too much, Ilm sure they instead give you a refurbished vibrant and used your old one for parts. In other words, Samsung didn't repair anything for yours but gave you another vibrant(which could be using parts from various sources).
It's the same imei and the same way the home button leaks... I also have a minor scratch on the camera which mine still has

Really.......That's not good, get it sent off or try fitting a new one off ebay.
I had a very similar issue with my old HTC Hero, it turned out that the digitizer (touch screen) was broken. ( started more or less like yours but eventually the whole bottom part of the screen didn't work) I was wayyyy off my guarantee so I bought a cheap digitizer off eBay and did a home reparation, worked very well for me :-D
So yeah just send it in for repairs and you'll be just fine

Samsung Galaxy Note Replacement Screen Purple

My dad cracked the screen on his Galaxy Note so I bought a replacement and replaced it. But when I turn the phone on the Samsung Galaxy Note logo turns from white to purple and everything after bootup has a purple tint to it. The weird thing is, if I boot up the phone with the old screen attached then replace the old one with the new one, while the phone is still on, the new one doesn't have purple tint to it. But if I reboot the phone with the new screen it turns purple again. I am not sure what to do. How can I fix this?
Get another replacement, there may be ways to fix it but you might as well just get new one because there could be more problems down the road

I can't really afford to pay another $250 for another replacement. Why does it work if I bootup with old screen then replace with new one while the phone is on? The phone must be detecting the new screen as something else and using the wrong display drivers or something. Can't I force it to use the right drivers?
Is it the right part from Samsung or is it a non OEM replacement?
And why did you steal my avatar!?

The LCD part # is AMS529HA01 which is the same part # as the original. It also has Samsung branding on the front as well as the ribbon cable. So it appears to be a OEM part. I did not get it from Samsung, I got it from smartphonebay.net, which says it is 100% OEM.

I upgraded it to ICS a few weeks ago.
i had a problem like that on an old phone it turned out to be the ribbon cable wasn't fully connected. i ended up putting a tiny piece of foam on the connector to hold it down real good once the phone was put back together.
I agree. It sounds like bad ribbon connection to some signal needed for boot detection.
I almost bought a $250 replacement when I cracked my glass. AT&T was no help. Samsung offered to fix it cheaper. $197.01 including parts, labor and shipping to and from Plano, TX.

If it's still happening I'd say it's a hardware problem because new software should fix any bugs

A mate of mine is having the exact same issue as you. He brought his replacement screen off Ebay which was "claiming" 100% OEM. On boot the Samsung Galaxy Note logo stays white for a couple of seconds then turns a shade of purple. We did discover that if you install a GB rom the issue is resolved. In particular if a GB kernel is installed the issue goes away. Did you find a fix to your problem?

I've got the exact same problem. I replaced the display on my N7000 and a few seconds after showing the logo it goes purple and stays that way. I installed a GB ROM and voila! No more purple. But I want to run a Jelly Bean ROM! This is driving me nuts!
Anyone found another solution yet?

Blurry screen after replacing lcd

Repaired my cracked lcd on Xperia z2. Worked perfectly at first but the more I use it the screen becomes more blurry (guessing this is something to do with heat) Starting with pictures but then starting with text.
I bought the screen from China (cud be my mistake)
Anyway to sort this or am I missing something.
If it is the quality of screen is there anyway to lower my resolution so I can use it till I get a replacement.
Thanks for any help

It's probably LCD fault. I don't know how would lower resolution help you, if the screen get blurry. You can try with changing DPI in build.prop file.
Ah rite. Thank you. I think it is the lcd itself.
U say change the DPI
What is this and what would I be changing. I.e (numerical value lowered). Not as clued up on system files I'm afraid but I am learning.

Found out the screen is 380x640 instead of 1080x1980. Really annoyed but hey my fault entirely.
