So far as I know, every CDMA phones support both GSM and CDMA network.

hi
most of the phones work with gsm and wcdma networks, but the wortk frecuency of this networks differs in some countries.
Chinese phone sometimes does nit support all the frequencies outside china

No, No!! Never an unknown Chinese brand. Had a not-so-good experience with them already. I would prefer a htc or a LG

then i rhink you shoukd have no problem.
Look at the phone specifications and then search for the band networks for 3g or wcdma in your country and check that thw phone supports all
good luck

thanks bro super thanks !!!
Hmmm... It might be a good thing to explain what a CDMA is.
(Yes, I am a bit unsure myself, though I do understand it has something to do with the frequencies that the cellphone will operate at?)
(Ah, I found it. CDMA != GSM, some extra version of the Raphael primarily meant for the North-American market, does not work in Europe... shame though)
Code Division Multiple Access) A method for transmitting simultaneous digital signals over a shared portion of the spectrum. Although used in various radio communications systems, the most widely known application of CDMA is for cellular systems that operate in the 800 MHz and 1.9 GHz PCS bands. As of 2008, there were more than 450 million CDMA cellphone users in the world, with more than half in Asia. Verizon and Sprint are CDMA carriers in the U.S., while TELUS uses CDMA in Canada. QUALCOMM is the developer of the CDMA air interface used in cellular systems.
Thanks A Million

Hi,
How do I know if my phone/network supports CDMA? I am in South Africa and on Vodacom (now Vodafone) network.
Thanks in advance.

I believe that's GSM Network. Look here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Raphael_WM6.1_ROMs
Ah I see... Ok... thought that maybe if I set the band to WCDMA and I get a signal it would be an indication that my handset/network supports it.
Thanks though!
Could the GMS Raphael specific forums be changed to a GSM prefix as this CDMA sub-forum?
That could start to minise confusion -- particularly those using searches and finding themselves to links posted in a Raphael forum but it's not the Raphael that they own.
...in other model forums it's rather easy to point out to one that they are posting in a forum that does not cover their phone. Not so easy when one reponds -- but I do have a Raphael/Touch Pro.
Sure, the GSM model was out first and is more widely available, but keeping the sole Raphael name for it is only going to invite confusion. Best to be pro-active now before forums become flustered with confusing threads and posts.
WCDMA & CDMA are not the same thing WCDMA is 3rd Generation data over wireless protocol used for GSM
CDMA uses EVDO Rev1 for data
IF you have sim Card, chances are u r on GSM CDMA doesnt use sim card (unless ofcourse you are on iDEN and i dont think there is a TP for nextel
gsm 3g is based on cdma so it is some times called wcdma... and cdma carriers can have sim card like chips called ruim cards i believe u would only find this in india tho.. and iden is iden its not cdma but sprint does offer phones that can do iden and cdma at the same time..
I would prefer a GSM phone over a CDMA phone anyday because of the SIM card

Every place else to do with the Raphael is assumed to be GSM.... Confusion is desired while all CDMA Raphael 800 discussion is ostracised to this section.
Yes, it would far more sense to actually title the Raphael ROM section as Raphael GSM ROM Development and similarly for this CDMA section.... Doesn't appear that it'll happen since the GSM model was released first and the powers that be here have declared it to be the sole deserving model of the unspecified Raphael name.

I prefer CDMA because when my phone gets stolen, the bastard cannot not use it anymore because the SN will be reported as stolen and the phone will be locked by my carrier.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE worldwide use?

Anyone knows the specific network bands for the SGT LTE? For both the 4G/3G bands?
According to the Verzion website, it only states 4G and 3G/EVDO Rev A:
http://shop.verizonwireless.com/?id=Samsung Galaxy Tab 10
Was just wondering if it would work out of the US.
Quite a raving review for the it by Engadget...
http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/28/galaxy-tab-10-1-for-verizon-hands-on-with-the-new-4g-speed-king/
My best guess is it will not work outside the US. Even in the US it will only work on the Verizon network, Carries in the US use different bands (CDMA and GSM) and different frequencies. Do a search for CDMA and GSM. Pretty sure Verizon use the CDMA band.
I am sure a Verizon customer can confirm this for us.
^LTE is based on GSM, and uses a simcard. Verizon's is a microsim. I believe their LTE runs on 700MHz. I suppose if you found a carrier that runs on that band overseas, it's theoretically possible.
It's not just the frequency spectrum that's different. CDMA and GPRS (GSM) can run on the same frequencies. It's the switching technology between the two that's the killer.
The Tab on Verizon also supports EVDO revisions A and B I believe, but that still doesn't mean it will work over-seas.
Generally speaking, other countries use GSM technology on any of four frequencies. The Verizon Tab is not GSM, and also does not support any of the four frequencies. I'd say it's definitely not possible for use internationally.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

UK/EU release this year?

I see this phone isn't getting released in the UK/EU first, which is..... different!
I would like to know if there are plans to release this device or a similar HTC device anytime this year in the UK/EU region.
I hope HTC it will be available for sale before the beginning of December
I would rather have had the Droid DNA/J Butterfly instead of the One X+ in the UK.
You would think that with HTC's recent financial results, that they would be looking to release this highly anticipated device in many markets as possible.
Does anyone know if the Droid DNA will work on GSM 3G HSPA networks? Obviously the LTE wont work.
I wonder if any of the Frequencies Vodafone or O2 are going to use are the same as the US ones? I do remember reading it somewhere, and I don't think they are the same.

The problem is not the LTE, it is the basic network of the phone. The Verizon network is not compatible with any European network - they use a completely different system as the base which is not GSM compatible. Same reason the Nexus 4 "world" phone works pretty much everywhere except on their network.
Until HTC make a model with different radio chips (GSM standard) this phone will only be for Verizon and a couple of Japanese networks.

From Verizon's DNA specs list:
CDMA1x/EV-DO Rev A, LTE/DO Rx diversity
Global Network: GSM (850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz), UMTS (850MHz, 900MHz, 1900MHz, 2100MHz)
Since it has GSM, will it be possible to use in Europe or Australia?

Yes.. It's just a matter of whether or not it is unlocked out of the box like the Rezound was (Limited at first before update). Or sim locked like previous droids.

Thank you for posting this... I hate when people (read: nexus161) give outdated facts based on the way the tech ran several years ago... vzw has released several devices with a quad band antenna in the past several years. The gsm bands listed are frequencies that all gsm providers currently use at least one of so the answer to the original question is yes, in theory. I'm assuming the international bands are unlocked so there should be no issue using it with a gsm provider, however I'm not sure how vzw has played this in the past so I can't speak to how this will work in practice. My guess though? Similar to the rezound. Locked for first 6-8 months, then an unlock will roll out in an update later.
That's great, so it will work over here. I'm not bothered about 4G yet as its only in a few cities.
I'm new to this whole Verizon CDMA unlocked thing. Can I use a US T-mobile SIM card and pop it into the SIM slot and it will work? What size SIM does it use? Micro?
Do you think it will be possible to buy a Us handset and unlock it?
Will it be 4G enabled?
I just spoke with three different verizon customer service representatives and they all said the phone is locked to Verizon. Two of them said Verizon never unlocks their phones and the last one said devices can be unlocked if you have 90 days of good payment history. Is there a different way to unlock android devices other than having carriers do it for you?

Sometimes... I think you need to have S-Off though... I could be wrong though.
Just because it has GSM support in the radio, doesn't necessarily mean it has a SIM slot! If I'm not mistaken, the Photon Q or whatever the Moto slider for Sprint is has a pentaband radio but no SIM slot...
Anyone got details on that?
That phone have sim slot
That phone have SIM slot, please watch any "hands on" review and you will see that.

Great news. Hopefully I will be able to order the device soon from a US eBay seller. That is unless HTC actually announce a UK/EU release before then. But that seems extremely unlikely.

Alright the first step is figuring out which bands you carrier needs for CDMA, then you need to enable that band, as most likely the vs985 does not support it natively

Operating Frequency CDMA 1900 / 2000 / 800 MHz
TD-LTE 2500(band 41)
FD-LTE 1900(band 25) / 850(band 26)
3G
EV-DO , A 3.1 Mbit/s
4G
(doesn't support Indian bands)
try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/general/unlocked-lte-bands-vs985-t2909150
imo, most likely u should manually set up your reliance apn first. contact your carrier for details

Here is some information about the ls990 data network
TECHNOLOGIES USED
GSM / CDMA / HSPA / EVDO / LTE
TECHNOLOGIES USED DEFINED
GSM
Global system for mobile (GSM) communication is a digital mobile telephony system that is widely used in Europe and other parts of the world. GSMuses a variation of time division multiple access (TDMA)
CDMA
Code division multiple access (CDMA) is a channel access used by various radio communication technologies. CDMA is an example of multiple access, where several transmitters can send information simultaneously over a single access channel.
HSPA
High speed packet access (HSPA) is a third generation (3G) mobile broadband communications technology. The term "HSPA" actually refers to two specific protocols used in tandem, high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) and high speed uplink packet access (HSUPA).
EVDO
1xEV-DO is a 3G standard for CDMA-based networks, as a 3G technology it focuses on bringing high-speed data to CDMA. EVDO provides data rates over ten times faster than 1xRTT the previous data technology for CDMA networks.
LTE
Long term evolution (LTE) is a 4G wireless broadband technology developed by the third generation partnership project (3gpp) an industry trade group.
Bands used by the ls990
2G Bands
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Bands
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G Bands
LTE Bands 25 (1900) / 26 (850) / 41 (2500)
DATA TRANSMISSION SPEED
HSPA, LTE Cat4
150 / 50 Mbps
I don't know what protocol Band-3 is set up for. So I cannot answer your question directly. What I can tell you is that the coding you are looking for should be part of your CDMA. The CDMA gets the two signals (your phone and the band) to share a frequency. I don't know how this is achieved. If you know how to access the CDMA programming and know the precise frequency your desired band is broadcasting at you very well, at the very least change an existing port to a different frequency.
I don't know if you would be able to just add in coding and expect it to work. That's because I don't actually know if the phones use multiple ports (one for each frequency) or if it cycles through the programmed frequency using one piece of hardware.
I hope at least some of this information is able to help you out. If you do end up attempting to rewrite a CDMA, let me know how it goes. Honestly if it works, I'm going to be asking you for information.

I'm just a regular guy but try looking through all of the forums and threads. Just search CDMA (make sure you select find anywhere in text if you use a web browser. Then you can use your browser's tools to "find in page" again search CDMA. This will highlight every time "CDMA" appears on the page. Then you can scroll through them by pressing on the arrows on the find in page tool. Of you can't find anything in any of the posts on this site, there could be the chance that the developers are not interested in altering their CDMAs. Keep in mind it is common advice to never alter your "daily driver" the cell you rely on.
Other than that the only I formation I know about it is what I was told by a guy who flashes phones for a prepaid provider where I live. He told me that not every phone is able to hook up to the bands of the other carriers. That's why he had a sign that stated data service is not guaranteed on all phones.
