Hey,
apparently I'm not the only one with this issue,
If you bought European 32 gb version just like me (Czech Republic and Germany seems to have this problem) you are not able to access bootloader. Adb commands won't work, not ever buttons combinations.
Is there any fix to that yet?
Before you ask, yes i have proper USB drivers, PTP, OEM and USB debugging is on as well.

this is sad, I wanted to buy it (H960A) next week
As far as I understand, everybody has this issue.
Only TMobile varient H901 has an unlockable bootloader and can access it.

Do you think that this will change? Or it's like this forever after?... :/
I have no idea. There's a bounty for root access for att and verizon variants. Hopefully this will apply for our device as well.
Don't understand why LG is so applish (yes I said it, LG behave like Apple and it's close garden philosophy)
XDA don't take kindly to such manufacturers
Even Samsung almost always lets us choose how to use OUR devises
I doubt this will change when the marshmallow update comes in
No update yet?
Nope, still the same :/ - it sucks a lot. :/

Hope something will happen soon
ADB commands are working fine on my v10 H960 64gb, but when typed "adb reboot bootloader" it just rebooted the device as normal reboot.
H960A , H960ATR, H960TR NO FASTBOOT MODE Adb commands won't work
I regret that i sold my note 5 and bought v10 europe , no root , no development

I have LG-H960a too (Czech, 32GB version of LG V10).
Im stucked as you guys.
Any (hold power+up/down) button mode will NOT work here. But what works is:
reboot with adb to recovery, hold DOWN button --> green android with red [!]
power off, hold UP button, plug in cable (autopower on, no need to press power button) --> download mode / firmware updates
At both cases NONE fastboot command will work (or my drivers are really mes up). I still cant unlock OEM, flash recovery or get root.
Maybe this will help, maybe not.
What about any king of exploit method to get root? Keep me posted. Thanks
EDIT: Also works to turn off, hold POWER and DOWN until LG logo shows up, then release POWER and push POWER again. This will get me into factory recovery screen (white, selectable with up/down). Fastboot dont work there either (for me).

Ok, I just want to know if my phone is hard bricked, or if I still have a chance...
I tried to install an update (121 to 170 for plk-l01) on my rooted phone, with local update. It didn't worked, twrp show errors everywhere, and after turning off know i can't access the recovery. when I press on vol+/- and power for 10-15 second, it vibrate but nothing else.
Is there anything I can do ? my phone isn't recognized by my computer, by the way...

Try to boot into fastboot (phone turned off - connect with data usb to the computer - vol down + power on). Extract rom which is currently installed or higher (for your respective model) and flash from it:
fastboot.exe flash boot BOOT.img
fastboot.exe flash recovery RECOVERY.img
fastboot.exe flash cust CUST.img
fastboot.exe flash system SYSTEM.img
Reboot.

Thanks, but unfortunately, it just 'boot' as others reboots. it vibrates, doesn't get recognize and doesn't turn on...
If anyone have any clue on how to force recognizing the phone storage, it might really help ^^
That is what my phone is doing, I tried to upgrade to marshmallow though with no root!! I put the zip in the dload folder and went through the upgrade process everything went through the phone rebooted and now its dead. Blank screen and if you hold power after a few seconds it will vibrate but that is it. I presume its hard bricked? no matter what combo of buttons I press I cannot get it in to fastboot.

ok I'm looking for a solution for hours now... so I just lokked how works our phone and I think the trouble must be in the preloader, because I can't even make my phone being recognized by any computer and I can't access to recovery.
I found this :
http://www.droidgyan.com/soft-brick-vs-hard-bricked-vs-broken/
Which could help. I'll leave that topic on for some days (if it could help someone) and I'll open a new one to know if there is any easier solution ! thanks and good luck.
I sorted mine, it was only 2 days old so I got it replaced by the shop I bought it on. I would say it was something like a pre loader from what I saw. I have never bricked an Android phone and I must have had 15-20 of them since my first HTC Magic and before that Windows Mobile which again I messed with tons reloading with all sorts of ROM's!! These phones are wayyyy too sensitive to being messed with, I always remember though that you never mess with the boot loaders, but it looks like these updates do to get it bricked to that point.

I just hard bricked my Honor 7 the same way. Is there really no solution? Other China-Phones are pretty much unbrickable, since you can always fix it via the preloader. No such luck here? Back to the shop and hope they actually replace it? While I admit it was stupid to just hastily start the OTA while having twrp and not stock recovery (no root, though), this is a terrible design flaw on Huaweis side.
Anyway... any hope or no chance?

@Idiocrate try to boot into bootloader mode just by pressing Vol DOWN button and simultaneously connecting it to a PC, don't press Power button, if it boots into it, then follow the method given by @piskr in third post.
Hi!
My G2 Mini D625 got bricked inside my pocket, I've tried doing a hard reset but it just keep on bootloop with the LG logo.
Is there an unbrick file for this model? I've read that the normal G2 can be unbricked with that file but I don't think that the normal G2 file will work...
Anyone knows how to re-flash some ROM on this phone with the locked bootloader, or how to unlock the bootloader while in bootloop?
Thanks!!
No bootloader unlock. Period.
Unless, you hack it.
You will probably be able to use LG's software with correct update error option.
I'll give it a try, thanks!

Boot the phone in download mode and try again.
I've tried to boot on download mode but my phone has the download mode blocked by the operator, is this the end for this phone?
What I'm trying to do is this:
- Take battery off the phone.
- Wait like 10 seconds.
- Put battery back to phone.
- Press and hold Volume +.
- Plug Phone to computer
- Phone brings up the LG logo and goes back to bootloop.
Also I've tryed to hold power button while holding the volume + button as described on other posts but the results are the same...
Moderators please close thread as I've dropped the bricked phone.
Thanks to everybody on XDA, I've allways find usefull things around here, and I'll be sharing my love with donations as I'm still a n00b on developing.

Hello dear all,
I have managed to brick my LG G5 like an Old Mill Brick.
My LG G5 (lg g5 h850 titan) does not boot. It comes with an error message as follows: Your device is corrupt. It cannot be trusted and will not boot.
What I already did to Unbrick:
Tried to unlock the OEM. No way from USB Debugging as I cannot go into OS.
Tried unlock the OEM from fastboot (remote: oem unlock is not allowed).
Tried to flash some things like (boot.img, system.img) even adb sideload stuff. Nothing works. I cannot flash anything because (flashing not allowed) because OEM is not unlocked, but cannot unlock the OEM because it is not allowed. WHAT in the brick do I have to do now?
Cause of the brick of the bricks:
The LG G5 was on LineageOS, all stable and solid. When a prompt appeared telling me that I have to update the OS. So I was like yeah ok whatever. BUT, it did from OTA. I also had a specific LineageOS APP for updating the OS. After some minutes (updating) I immediately panic and started worrying. BECAUSE, I knew what time it was (my device is dead). I wanted to turn my phone off but it was already in Recovery (TWRP). So I just hit cancel. BUT after booting up the LG G5 that corrupt device error appeared and I cannot manage to get rid of it.
Please I need your help! I also watched and tried (2+ hours) to manage to solve this via Google and different links and Unbrick guides but nothing happens. I cannot unlock the OEM because it is not allowed. I cannot flash anystuff because the OEM is not unlocked.
Update: So, there is no Recovery System present. No stock Recovery, No TWRP. And I think no OS either. So only thing that is present is the bootloader screen smh.
Can you still get to TWRP?

No If I hold the volume down button and Power and when the LG Logo appears I release the power off and press again nothing happens. It goes again into that error. I can go in bootloader but can't do anything with adb or fastboot.
I think TWRP is gone too :/
You should be able to get into download mode. Hold the volume up button with phone fully powered down. While you hold the volume up button insert the usb cable. Then you can flash the full system kdz with LGUP

Adb devices works
adb reboot bootloader boots into the phone; not the boot loader
For the life of my I've tried to boot into bootloader directly and can't get it -- So can't run any fastboot commands to see if it is locked or not.
Anyone know how to get into the bootloader? Holding Power and Volume Down and then releasing power at the LG screen doesnt work. Holding them down without letting go just keeps rebooting the phone. Hold Volume UP, Volume Down and Power gets me IMEI information.
Maybe try holding power, up and down? maybe see if adb connects on the imei info and see if you can run the reboot command from there?

fastboot from IMEI Page doesnt work
If I hold power and volume down, wait for LG logo, let go of power real quick (while still holding volume down) and press power again it gets me to "factory data reset"; not typical bootloader menu.
Still trying...
If ADB reboot fastboot yeilded nothing then it's locked down
I'm going to assume no oem unlock?
May still be too soon if it's unlocked.

? Why would it be too soon? ADB flash commands either work or they don't.
I understand someone has to test, just to make sure -- but you should assume all "major carriers"-branded LG V30 will be locked down. Even T-mobile has succumbed. With the T-mobile LG G6 earlier this year, you could unlock the bootloader, but T-mobile/LG removed all other flash commands. Like having the keys to the car, but there's no car.
Go read this if you haven't. It explains how having ONLY bootloader unlock is useless.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73652182&postcount=7
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/help/unlock-bootloader-root-t3665927/page12
As a result, (probably) only the U.S. and European carrier unlocked versions of LG V30 will have real bootloader unlock, and be added to LG's bootloader unlock list for developers -- just like the LG G6. I would be glad to be wrong about this.
Of course, the wild card would be exploits devs may find... But with official carrier unlocked versions available, devs don't need to look for exploits.

Honestly, carrier unlocked phones are almost just as unfair to consumers as locked bootloaders in the first place. For those of us who can't afford paying for an unlocked phone all at once, it locks us in a position where we have to bow down to the carrier or stick to a 4 year old phone. I'm forever grateful to the devs who are in similar situations and try to find exploits on carrier phones, but I'm so disappointed that by having a carrier unlocked phone, it leaves many of us in an even worse situation. Just hoping for a miracle.

Let's just say that a kernel and userland exploit comes quickly and allows root access.
Could we dd a TWRP build to the recovery partition? Does the phone need signed firmware or is it simply a crippled fastboot?

crippled fastboot. commands are removed.
2 hours later Ive given up, google dosent have the answer, neither does clueless LG support. On my previous phone, note 4, a simple battery pull would have done the trick.
But anyway, it's stuck on the LG logo screen, have power key/ volume down rebooted multiple times, no luck. Someone at LG support said hold the power button down for about 30 seconds and it should power off? Is that right? It didnt work out for me, held it down for over a minute, did that several times. At this point I just need to be able to power the device off so I can boot into stock recovery, but am unable to.
Btw I apparently messed it up by disabling "bloat" through adb fastboot command prompt, I was only maybe 5 apps/ programs in when the phone froze, that's what ultimately brought me here.
Don't have a V30 yet, but the ol' Quark was kind of fidgety, maybe its method will work.
Hold Power+Vol Down until it reboots. Let go of Power, but keep Vol Down held. Hopefully, the boot menu or recovery will come up after some seconds. Should be able to completely power off from there or factory reset.
T-Mobile also describes a specific thing you can try involving some button timing, but I've read that it's not supported on all variants.

Thanks for your reply, I tried that 3 times, no luck though. LG has got to have a way of force powering these things off you would think. In the meantime I'm concerned about screen burn in with that bright white LG logo glowing on screen for hours.

Gross. God forbid they just put in a proper boot menu like most other manufacturers.
On the bright side, if it's suffered any burn-in it should be visible on that bright white factory reset screen.

Fortunately, no, everything is back up and running and looks good. I was certainly worried about i though. But im glad now I know how to do it now, especially since I'll be rooting this device as soon as it hits LG's bootloader unlock list
@breacherman Did you get it to power off from stock recovery? I'm in the same situation. I can get in to stock recovery and even download mode. But I can't get it to boot or power off.
Update: fixed it.
welp looks like I have this same issue on my US998.
I think I may have borked it. The device is stuck on the LG V30 boot screen and I can no longer force reset into TWRP. I also cant get the device to completely power down to get into fastboot mode to try and use the USB cable trick
I cant use uppercut, as the device wont connect to my pc since its stuck on the boot screen. Talk about frustrating. This all happened when I mistakenly installed the OREO TWRP on a nougat based US998. For your own good DONT repeat my mistake.

That's not the cause of your problems. I have the Oreo-compatible TWRP installed on Nougat US998. It's fine. It's also compatible with Nougat.
It's just a newer, better version of TWRP -- 3.2.1. There's no reason not to install it. You just install it within TWRP, using install "Image" to "recovery".

yeah pretty dumb move on my part. I installed a oreo rom, on my US998. Which up till today was all fine and dandy to run OREO roms on the nougat firmware. I decided to try the latest boombox rom, based off 20D. It booted my device into a dual sim version, killing my data connection, while showing that I had two sim slots for some reason. I thought, hmm maybe I need to upgrade TWRP. So I flashed the latest TWRP image IN TWRP (probably the killer switch) and everything seemed ok.
I rebooted TWRP and then wiped, and reinstalled the rom, and it booted up fine, yet still showed my US998 as a dual sim device.
So I figured, hey I am still on the nougat firmware, Ill just go back to stock. So I kdz back to stock (latest version), and then try to install the original TWRP through fastboot, bootloop city.
I am draining the battery, to try and power the device down, and then I will retry the USB cable to fastboot and try to kdz back to stock again.
I should have known better after all the LG devices I have owned, but sometimes you take a loss, messing around with LG lol.
Wish me luck on the battery drain, forced fastboot method.

Press and hold the Power button (or fingerprint scanner) and Volume Down button simultaneously for 8 seconds. Your phone will then vibrate, shut down, and reboot.
This method usually fixes minor software issues transpiring in mobile devices without affecting any data stored on your phone’s internal memory. Basically, it works the same as a soft reset only that you forced the device to reboot through the hardware key combos.
Second method: Connect your LG V30 to a charger and let it charge.
When your phone does nothing and shows nothing but a black display, chances are you would immediately think that it’s damaged. But the truth is, your phone might just have ran out of power completely and therefore no longer able to power up. With that said, try to connect your phone to its charger then allow it to charge for at least 20 to 30 minutes. It can take longer for the charging indicator to show up especially if the battery was totally drained before charging. Also make sure that your phone is able to charge properly. You can try using a different charger for your LG V30 or use other power sources available to ensure that the problem you’re dealing with is not associated with a faulty charger or power outlet.
Third method: Try performing a master reset using the hardware keys.
If your phone is able to charge, try to perform a master reset with the hardware keys. A master reset will restore the original factory settings and wipes out your personal data stored on the internal memory of your phone. All your downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail will be erased in the process. Considering that the problem is triggered by a software bug affecting your LG V30’s system functions, a full system reset will be able to eliminate the bug as well. Here’s how it’s done:
Back up all your data on the internal memory (if possible).
With your device powered off, press and hold the Power button and Volume Down buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.
When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while keep holding the Volume Down button.
Let go of the buttons when the onscreen menu appears.
When you see the option to Delete all user data (including LG and carrier apps) and reset all settings message prompt, press the Volume Down button to highlight Yes.
Then press the Power button to reset the device.
Wait until the reset is complete then reboot your device. If it’s able to boot up successfully, proceed with the initial setup.
Fourth method: Plug your LG V30 in to a computer
LG Bridge is the new PC suite software for LG Android smartphones like LG V30. It works the same way as iTunes does on an iPhone and iPad, when accessing and managing iOS device system.
LG Bridge is mainly used to backup and restore LG phone data, sync data, update software and other related tasks. In order to use this app, you’ll need to download the LG Bridge installer from LG Support site then install it on your computer (Windows or Mac).
After the LG Bridge software is successfully installed on your computer, try to detect or access the LG V30 phone system through LG Bridge with these steps:
Connect your LG V30 to your computer using the USB cable that comes with your device. Alternatively, you may use the cable attached to your LG charger. Be sure to unlock your LG V30 when you connect it to your computer.
Once connected, select a USB connection type like Media sync (MTP) or File Transfer, if you’re prompted on your device.
Then, open LG Bridge on your computer.
Select LG Backup to create a backup of your data stored on the phone.
If you wish to restore, follow the onscreen instructions on the LG Bridge menu to restore your device. Basically if your able to access your phone on the computer through LG Bridge software, it means that your phone is not dead. More likely, it’s just not charging so you’ll have to deal with charging problem instead.

Im having a similar issue. Except everything went fine for me. Successfully converted to US998, upgraded again to oreo, flashed TWRP, flashed the two LG specific files, installed Magisk. Everything went great. Unitl I tried to install Lineage OS 15. Then it went to the Lineage splash screen and stays there. Now I can no longer get into any recovery of any sort even when trying to do the master reset. Just continues to reboot and lands on the Lineage splash screen. I guess Im going to have to let the battery run all the way out and hope that I can get back into fastboot that way.

You tried the usual suspects of holding the power button down
or power button and volume down together?

Yes. Sure have. I held the power button down for 5 minutes and nothing. It never powers off. The power button plus down works to reboot the device. And I can also get it to go to the factory reset screen, but when I do that it goes through the motions and then just tries to boot again. This is why Im assuming it has removed the recovery some how?
