I am not sure why all apps are coming with in-app browser. When ever you click on a link in-app browser for the app takes control. I hate this feature.
Is there any exposed module or any other root application which could **** this annoying in-app browser feature apps like Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, stackexchange, tumble and many others.
I can't disable this feature one-by-one for every app

This is the absolutely most frustrating thing EVER. Instagram just opened YouTube inside the damn Instagram app - it was total **** - couldn't go into landscape mode, didn't sign me in/recognize me, couldn't save the link/watch later (b/c I wasn't signed in), and NO LINK to the full app!
This and not being able to choose 'desktop mode" as default for Chome Browser are the two most frustrating things for me as an Android user. Pisses me off so much that I stop using some apps for months because of it.

Hi,
I use Greyblur and I am anoyed by the fact that I get different times a notification for some unwanted ads (not sure if this is Greyblur or any other app).
There is a star in the Status Bar and if you press on the information the browser opens with some unwanted recommendations (I call it SPAM).
So can anybody help to fix this.
Is this a regular Android function (e.g. a interface which every app can use)?
Where I should look to disable this function?
Thanks in advance.
It's not greyblur you must of installed a bad app. Review where you got your apps and be more careful.

O.k., thanks.
But is there a way to track this application down?
What would be the procedure to do this; it's impossible to deinstall all apps...
Recomendations for what exactly? Is it Kongregade or app brain or pulse?
If you have time I'd say do this.
Back up with titanium backup
SBF back to stock
Install each app one by one
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
Before reinstalling one by one, post an appbrain link so i can see what apps you have installed. I can then report back what apps to get rid of before just wiping everything.
there is an app called Share My Apps that will create a list for you of all the apps you have installed. much easier to post than to list them all manually
Hey...,
Many thanks for this input - which is exactly what I wanted.
So you believe it could be one of this apps: Kongregade, App brain or Pulse.
Yes, I use Pulse and App Brain.
After thinking over about the best way, I had an thought...
Would it be possible to freeze selected apps with TITANIUM, to see if the SPAM disappears?
Or would'nt this be a realistic way to check if one of the mentioned apps are causing this behaviour...
Really, to uninstall makes me crazy as you can see the list is long (needs at least 1/2-1 hour to reinstall - without a real guarantee not to reinstall the "bad boy" again...).
And many thanks in advance for going roughly through the app list.

Kongregate appbrain and pulse are all fine apps, but will all recomend new updates in your notification bar, you can change this in settings. In the op you said, ads for unwanted recomendations. I was, and still am unsure if you are refering to irelevant product advertising like a commercial, or if your being recommended flash games because you told Kongregate to notify you of new games (or a similar notification from a dif app). There is a malicious advertising plug in called "airpush" that devs could put in apps to advertise in your notification bar, it has caused a backlash against devs that use it. As far as freezing to test, yes you can, but be careful what you freeze and for this testing purpose maybe one at a time is the best way to tell what app is notifying you.
I will list the apps below that I know are not infected with airpush, all of these apps I use or have used before and they do not have airpush:

Hope that helps. Maybe others can add to the list of safe apps.
I had it happen when I used the android movie download app. It was useless and spammed thee hell out of me.

Thanks for your response.
To be more clear: it is not ONLY product related or update recommendations.
They spam me with commercials from different areas.
But maybe I'll have an eye on it to see what they offer, maybe this is an way to identify the app and make it public + ban.
It would be good to have a public black list...
And last but not least: I was searching, but Airpush (at least what I can see in the market) is not installed. So it's not this app...
Best regards and thanks.
I also had been spammed by the app "Live wallpaper LED" bu DrHU. beware of this app
try scanning your phone with AirPush
it won't block whatever is causing it but it'll identify which app is the culprit and let you uninstall it.
Addons Detector is like that airpush app on steroids... bit more functionality.
Once installed, run a scan. Then choose the bottom filtering option to see who's using airpush.

I had this exact same thing. A little star on the notifcation bar saying I won an Ipad2, and then redirected me to a spam website.
In my case it was actually caused by a Final Fantasy 13 guide app.
I reported the app, deleted it, and it looks like google pulled it from the marketplace.

Addons Detector flagged Zarley for push notification adds.. its never spammed my notif bar ever and it definately doesn't contain the Airpush "virus".
Airpush (which advertises here on xda) offers this type of ad. I can't tell you if its them or not, but check out airpush.com for info on their permanent opt-out feature. I was intrigued by their revenue claims until I saw their methods.

I had the same issue and installed Addons Detector and it found 4 apps using different push notifications. I uninstalled all 4 apps and no pop-ups so far. Thanks
Hey,
I was spammed by Awesome Wallpaper app that way
i noticed you use go launcher. I have noticed that some of the free themes have had airpush built in to them. you might try and use another theme and delete the ones you currently have. This worked for me.
whats talkback it gave me an install and update like an app and shows in myapps but dosent come up when i look for it
TalkBack is a screen reader that provides spoken feedback when using native Android applications.
For people with disabilities.
Cannot uninstall unless rooted.
It doesn't read internet pages nor anything beyond your own tablet's system menus and screens. The only and big exception are native applications, basically, Google apps. For example, when you start Gmail, Talkback reads the subject of each mail you tap; when you push any hardware button, it says which has been pushed.

thank you sir found that out but what u said was great also.
I hope I'm just being really dumb here, but I can't work out how to view friends' albums on Facebook on my prime (using the official app).
When I browse a profile on my phone using the same app, I get the - About - Friends - Photos - Likes thumbnails, but not on my Prime.
Anyone else noticed this?
facebook seems to update like every three days, honestly your better off making a shortcut in your web browser and using their mobile site, its touch oriented and works better than any app i have used. You can also get your notifications from facebook going to your email so you can get notifications when people message you or whatever in email instead of in the notification bar and it still takes you directly to the content.
Sure its an extra button press but thats what works well for me. YMMV.
Was kind of expecting a 'use the browser' response, which is fair enough I guess.
Just wondered why the feature was removed or if it's just hidden somewhere.
I prefer using apps to browsers.
It seems like anytime facebook opens a browser it crashes. What browser is everyone using that is stable? I'm getting tired or waiting for it to give me the hung message so I can close it. Bee trying Chrome and it has the same issue.
I don't have this issue and I have even opened pages from Facebook where it has a lot of images and ads with javascript and all.
K. Maybe it's a one off issue. I'm gunna backup and default it. See if that fixes it.
They do it on purpose so that you download the application so they can steal all your personal info on your smartphone. Browsers have security features built into them that do not allow them access to all your personal stuff. Their browser never crashes on regular browsers while using a PC. What you could do is just but a small device like an iPod and have nothing on there except maybe Instagram and Facebook. Then they have nothing to steal from you. Just use it to log on to Facebook or Instagram after and the heck with their permissions after.

Desktop to Phone Data Transfer (install on phone and chrome as an extension; allows you to copy and paste things back and forth between devices). Has ads so use adaway or whatever.
App Dialer (T9 Search, I put the widget on my home screen, I haven't accessed my app drawer since, I rarely buy apps, but I ended up buying pro because I loved it so much). Go in settings to switch from QWERTY to T9. Even if you don't remember the app's name and remember a part of it, it'll give it to you as a result. For example typing in Games will give you the "Play Games" app as a result too)
Waze (better than Maps since it lets me know if cops are around, finds quicker routes by taking small roads that Maps overlooks)
Buttons Remapper (I like hardware buttons and I like changing what they do rather than default, changes actions based on short press, long press, double tap)
Web Video Caster (chromecast any video from any site)
Friendly (Facebook + Messenger in one app, and it is really small in size with ad block features, and fewer privacy concerns)
Es file manager
Apex luncher
Spotify and Netflix must be on my phone at all cost
Fx File explorer
KLWP
NOVA launcher
Titanium Backup
QuickPic
Without these i can't even use my android
Gmail, Linkedin, YouTube.
PlusPrivacy
The best app in my mobile is PlusePrivacy because is a free app who provides me a unified dashboard for protecting myself from a variety of threats to my privacy. It enable me to control the privacy settings in my social network accounts, hide my email identity, block ads, trackers and malware and prevent unwanted apps and browser extensions from tracking me and collecting me private data.
