Help with ghost push virus - Motorola Droid RAZR

I am running Stock ROM JB 4.1.2 98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US and its infected by ghost push virus. I don't have access to a pc. So flashing by fastboot is not possible. Is it possible to reflash the same firmware or another one with the stock recovery? Or should I install Safestarp on the infected system and boot up a custom ROM.
For those who don't know what's ghost push, its a virus that roots the phone and installs as a system app. So a factory reset won't fix the issue.
Where can I download safestrap for unused partitions. I think the link is down. Does safe slot give same speed. I guess its better to flash there to be on the safer side. What do you suggest?

No access computer is my biggest problem

I don't think you can be sure, unless you flashed firmware, which requires a PC

I am going to install safestrap for unused partition and install cm 12.1 on it. I guess that's the best option for now. Once I finish if I try removing the system apps and end up with a no boot in stock ROM will it affect safestrap and my CM 12.1

you cannot wipe stock system, safestrap is installed there, and requires a working rom.
but if you just use a custom rom, it should be safe to leave system as is.
or even install a custom rom over system (stock slot)
roms on stock or safe slots are a little faster than roms on rom slot 1-4
slot 1-4 are good for testing a rom is to see if you like it, but most prefer their main rom on stock slot or safe slot.
If installing a custom rom over stock just be sure to not to reboot stock if you see errors
if see errors post them here, so we can try to diagnose.

Thanks for your reply....so its completely safe to install cm 12.1 on stock slot using safestrap with unused partition....I thought it will brick the device bcoz of bootloader n kernal and should install on safe slot.
While flashing I guess I should wipe data cache dalvic flash the ROM, gapps and the ram zip then wipe cache and dalvic cache.

cm12.1 can be installed over stock rom, but you may find cm11 more stable.
custom kernels are booted after stock kernel using kexec.
kexec, abbreviated from kernel execution and derived from the Unix/Linux kernel call exec, is a mechanism of the Linux kernel that allows "live" booting of a new kernel "over" the currently running one.

I have flashed in safe slot and booted up cm 12.1 fine. Thanks a lot for your help. I guess I can boot into the default system also fine. Is there anything I need to be aware of like formatting internal storage or anything that can brick the device

nope, just don't wipe /system partition without installing a rom right after.
cache, dalvik, data, internal storage and SD card can be wiped

Is it possible to flash a ROM over the stock partition in SafeStrap 3.6x

I really want to use SafeStrap instead of BMM because with BMM, my SD card and internal storage get messed up on every reboot. However, I'm just not ok with partitioning in order to install a ROM; I want it installed over my Stock partition. Can I do that with SafeStrap? Whenever I try, it just boots to a black screen after the recovery.

yeah you can. clear you cache and dalvik in the recovery, should start up find after that.
@Redjax Have you had any luck in doing this? I tried flashing to the stock partition (after making backups of everything, thank goodness!) and got the same black screen. Is there anything extra to do if you want to flash the Stock partition?
I flashed to the newest cm11 to stock slot on SS3.65. Here's what I did with no problems.
Activate Stock Slot
Wipe: Cache, Dalvik Cache, Android_secure, System, Data (Repeat; I always wipe everything twice, probably unnecessary, but i like to be sure)
Flash CM11 Nightly
Flash PA Gapps
Flash JBX Kernal
Flash WiFi Patch
Wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache again
Reboot
Everything worked fine first try. I realize what you flash will probably be different depending on which Rom you choose.

Hmm.. I wiped everything except for the Android_secure... Wonder if that's what did it? I was just trying to flash the latest/first official CM11 nightly, along with DHackers no_set_metadata GAPPS.
After I flashed the phone wouldn't boot -- just red Moto symbol then black screen. I managed to get it into APX Fastboot mode, used DROID_RAZR_Utility to flash the stock rom back on to the phone (without data wipe). Lo and behold, the phone came back to life! RE-rooted and reinstalled Safestrap 3.65, and all the slots were still there -- no harm, no foul, but I thought for a good while I bricked the phone. Whew!
Ok, Off to research what the Android_secure partition is for...
I think, BMM is better than SS, don't have any problem with my device
I've been out of the loop for awhile. Back in the days of og droid we just used recovery. SS came in later allowing you to have dual boot.
If you don't want that option can you just use a recovery like CW and not use SS or BMM?

On SS 3.65 i always wipe in my stock rom everything exept the SD card and the internal Storage and it works, i do it like that nearly a year without any problems.
Yes, I've not had a problem. I'm using Jelly Bean's ROM, and all I did was backup my Stock ROM, wipe it, and install through SafeStrap. I don't know why it wouldn't work for you...what ROM are you attempting it with?

4.2.2 and above.

Is there a known issue that some of the GT-9100 S2 phones are unable to boot and 4.2.2 and above ROMs? I never seem to get them to work.
Rooting and flashing base ROMs like those using 4.1.2 such as Neat ROM are possible, but whereas 4.2.2 or 4.3 such as CM never get to work on my device. They just boot forever.
Can you tell me what steps you follow when you try to install custom roms? Booting forever probably means you flashed something wrong or forgot to wipe.

I do the same for both Base ROMs and the other Newer ROMs.
Copy files on to SD Card
Reboot into Recovery
Factory reset
Install ROM and Gapps if needed
Factory reset again
Reboot
Boots forever for any 4.2.2 ROM and above / Success for Base ROMs
Do this
Format in mounts and storage these things.
Data
System
Cache
Then in advanced wipe dalvik cache
Then flash rom and the right gapps and reboot when flash is done.
Don't wipe SD or emmc and also make sure you have the right gapps for 4.2.2 roms.

It definitely should work cause my phone is running the latest carbon rom (4.3.1) and i never had any problems except of some crashes ....

Make sure you have I9100 and not any other variant,
Put your custom rom in internal sd card,
Go to recovery and use hawkerpauls wipe script before flashing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100558 ,
Make sure you are using the correct gapps, u can skip installing gapps and after installing custom rom and see if that is the problem, if its the problem use another gapps package.

[Q] Pros and Cons of flashing custom rom to stock slot

I'm currently running safe strap 3.65. Been flashing roms for quite a while but always left the stock slot alone. I'm wondering if there were any real down sides or things to be careful about when flashing a custom rom/kernal to the stock slot. There's the obvious, that a rom wouldn't work and I would have no working roms, but i'm not worried about that as I could easily flash another. Thanks in advance.
Also wondering. I did a backup of stock but it doesnt exist now! And flashed cm10.1.3 and it won't boot.....

Does anyone know how to install CM 10.1.3 or 10.2 to stock slot? I tried it, but it won`t boot. I had a stock slot with root and safestrap enabled, then i wiped stock slot in safestrap. After that my phone didn`t do anything, it seems that safestrap has deleted itself while wiping stock slot. So i had to restore my system with RSD Lite.
I did exact same thing. I even backed up before flashing and then the back up dissappear or didn't actually back up
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
It works now. Installed Stock with RSD lite, rooted it, installed SS3.65 and did a wipe cache, data and factory reset. Then i installed CM 10.2, Avatar rom 4.3 over stock system. Then i installed Gapps and JBX kernel 1.5. It is running great.
Just wanted to update this since I hadn't received any responses about the actual pros and cons. I decided to jump right in and do it and see what happened. Here's what I did.
SafeStrap 3.65:
Activate stock slot
wipe: cache, dalvik cache, android secure, data, system
repeat (I always repeat this step to be sure everything is clear)
Flash CM11 12/15 Nightly
Flash PA Gapps
Flash WiFi Access Point Patch
Flash JBX 2.0 Kernal
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Reboot.
Everything works perfectly on stock slot.

I prefer to leave the stock side alone for a couple of reasons. I like to always have it there as a fall back boot option. Also, if you have to delete ROM slots and are down to the option of having none left, you need to be able to activate the stock slot so that you can delete the last slot.
Seems the biggest pro for flashing over stock is saving storage space.

Is the Backup maybe on the SD card and you searching in the internal storage, or other way round?
Just set it completely stock, rooted and deleted everything for **** and hdmi so annoying hdmi quits popping up forcing landscape mode

How did you wipe system and your safestrap still works? If i wipe system, safestrap wipes itself and the recovery stops working after the wipe, phone is bricked. Only RSD helps fixing it

Phone has stopped working - need really fast help!

Hi. I tried to flash newest version of GApps (full modulare which I have never use before, allways the stock) and newest version of CyanogenMod 11 Nightly. I'm also using CWM Recovery 6.0.4.6 in my GT-I9300. Someone in CyanogenMod forums told me to wipe all data/factory, cache and dalvic cache to make CM's trebuchet, before flashing a new ROM and GApps.
I tried that and result was that I'm getting the ****ing "PHONE HAS STOPPED WORKING" - problem.. Huger problem is that I need this phone tommorow in work, and it ruins my day totally if I don't get it work by tommorow.
Because of Wipe ALL data / factory reset, I do not have even any backup file in my device. What to do to fix it!?

Can you boot into recovery? Have you got a external sd card?
If yes put another Rom on ext SD (if you have a SD card adapter for computer) boot into recovery and flash again!
If not can you get into download mode? If yes flash a stock Rom with Odin..

Thank you for helping. I flashed stock 4.3 Jelly Bean with Odin by using XDA's tutorial. Now I need to root my phone again to get CyanogenMod 11 and KitKat, but It's okay. Still don't know how to get CM11's Trebuchet work correctly. Problem is that if I flash PAGapps stock package, I get the phone work correctly, but Trebuchet disappears. If I flash full package of PAGapps, Trebuchet should work, but then this error happends and I need to flash stock rom with Odin.
What to try next?

If you are flashing custom roms you do not need to root, custom roms come already rooted...I'm not sure which gapps are compatible with cm11 but have you tried Banks gapps I use them on Fusion kitkat rom (if they are compatible)..
Obviously there is some app in the full gapps that is causing your problem. As for CM11 launcher can't you use another launcher?

[Q] Help with safestrap v3.75

I wanted to flash a ROM on my Droid Razr XT912, i tried, wiped the stock partition, then in advanced wipe, wiped the /system /data /cache, dalvik cache, I then made romslot -1 and made 1 GB system, 2 GB data and 10 MB cache partition, installed the ROM, and rebooted.
After the screen with a 'M' in a red circle, my phone went to a black screen.
I had guessed I bricked it.
Used RSDLite to restore my Phone.
And now, I am to scared to flash a ROM without help.
Now please guide me over following things:
1- Can I flash ROM on stock slot? I don't want to sacrifice my internal memory. If so, How can I do that?
2- Why did my phone got bricked on my first attempt?
Please give Detailed answer
Thanks in Advance

Yes but you must be careful not to reboot unless install was complete.
Verify md5 for Rom.zip after downloading
In safestrap backup system, then wipe system, install Rom, watch for errors, check stock ROM slot for space used,
If it used 450 - 600mb of system space install should be good
Also not a bad idea to leave stock Slot stock, until you try the Rom on a Rom slot first.
