I have a Z2 running 23.4.A.1.264 (5.1.1) rooted. All's well up until today when Sony have deemed it necessary to inform me of an update... To 23.4.A.1.264!!!
I've tried using 'DisableSerivices' and disabling SystemUpdateService in Google Services Framework & Google Play Services - After reboot these are showing 'disabled', but problem persists.
I've tried using 'Autostarts', searched for 'systemupdateservice' and disabled when found under GSF & GPS - As above, all still disabled after reboot, but problem persists.
I've tried disabling 'Show Notification' via Apps>Google Play services - After reboot it is re-enabled.
Any ideas how I can get rid of this annoying system update notification I don't need?
Go to System/priv-App and delete UpdateCenter.
Works for me.
Download Root Uninstaller from google play, allow root and delete System Update https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp

I'll give it a go!
Edit: Removed the APK from the folder. STILL showing the update notification!
I tried the 'Root Uninstaller' and couldn't find 'System Update file.
After a LOT of messing about, I think I've found the culprit.
/data/app/com.sonyericsson.up.updatecenter-1/base.apk
I simply renamed (just in case I needed the file) base.apk to base.old and rebooted. No notification warning as of yet!

Did you make reboot ur phone after delete?
I noticed that when the update is small (this one said it was ~5mb), it will not break root. I just did the update and everything is fine after reboot.

I did wonder this, and it might have been my last option (the nag notification was doing my head in!)
(Still not received any update notifacation after doing my above alteration!)

Hi everyone
After rooting my Nook tablet, I keep getting the popup "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly" every time I reboot. I have to choose "Force close" it.This is so annoying.
Do you guys have any idea how to fix it ?
Thank you
I haven't seen it on the Nook, but I was getting it on the Iconia A500. Turn off all syncing on your Accounts and then re-enable a service at a time until you figure out which one is causing the issue.
In my case, it was web syncing, however that's not an option on the Nook (I don't think).
Make sure you have
ContactsProvider.apk and
CalendarProvider.apk
in the /system/app folder

I have both of these installed in that location and I still get force close after reboot each time. It doesn't affect anything so I haven't worried about it.

I'm getting the same "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly" after a reboot. I followed the steps in the first post on rooting the Nook Tablet. Everything seems to work OK except for Google Talk, that force closes.
I also have the files that suggested.

I am having this same issue. Any help or suggestions other than confirming the .apks are in place.
Thanks.
I'm also having the issue but I haven't noticed any ill affects other than it is a little annoying
Here’s my framework apk, I am not sure if it will solve your FC problem.
You can use ES File Explorer to do this; it’s free from the market. You have to enable Root Explorer and Mount File System as writable in the Settings. In the Directory Settings, change current directory to “/”, without the quotation. Click back to main screen, click on the Star button, and click Home.
Copy the framework apk to /system/app/ and override the existent framework apk.
To set permission, just go to apk Properties by holding on the apk and scrolled down to Properties.
Has anybody tried to use succulent's google framework file or figured out another way to fix this problem? I've tried a factory restore by doing 8+ failed boots and re-rooted the device, installing gapps with Indirect's root method and I still immediately get the force close each time the tablet restarts.
How do you disable syncing for contacts/calander for the nook? I couldn't find that so I didn't try that method yet.
Are the permissions correct for it? rw-r--r--?

I am having the same trouble as the others. I tried your file and am still having the same problem.
I factory restored last night and re-rooted. No fc on startup now. It must be something I did later.
I downloaded the newest version, after searching google for it. I was able to install the new one fine, and now it is working fine. I beleive its the same version that was installed when I rooted last night, that one just wouldnt reinstall.

Any chance you could share where you got this? I see lots of results for GoogleServicesFramework.apk, but none that look anywhere near official.

Same problem cropped up for me.
Fixed it by clearing data for Google Services Framework: Settings...ApplicationSettings...ManageApplications...All...GoogleServicesFramework...ClearData
After reboot, all was well.

Well....
After a few more reboots, the problem returned. Cleard by fixing permissions in CWM recovery under advanced menu. Rebooted twice. All is well (fingers crossed).
Moved To Q&A
I think I've tried everything to install the modded version of google play.
-Opening the .apk directly in file browser gives me an immediate fail or a "free some more space" warning (I have the 32gb One and huge amounts of space)
-Running through lucky patcher doesn't do anything. It just completes and there's no change. I've run it patched to android, unpatched to android, no difference.
-Running "install cracked google play" app immediately restarts the phone, no change.
-Flashing a .zip file does nothing.
-Factory reset, install everything from scratch, reboot, no change.
-Remove google play store through manual uninstall, reboot, comes back to 3.10.9 on reboot
Even if I replace Phonesky.apk in system directory with a modded version, it STILL reverts back to 3.10.9 on a reboot. I've tried so many different versions, nothing makes any difference.
Seriously need some help from the experts. I'm running jelly bean 4.2 on AT&T.
Just download lucky patcher tap the toolbox icon, bottom left, and choose install modded Google play. That worked for me.

Try putting the apk into systems/app directory manually. Then reboot. (Also move the original google playstore app somewhere else to avoid any interference)

What does this mean? having same issue... HTC One Android V 5.0.2
Everytime i try to move something manually or use luckypatcher to install as system app the program in its entirety wipes on reboot. The same happens when manually relocating. Been hearing this is an HTC problem with no fix?

So I bought one of those cheap tablets. Of course it didn't come with Google play.
So I tried flashing the 20121011 package from goo.Im/gapps then installing the 4.6.17 apk which I downloaded from xda
I get as far as logging into my Google account then when the store begins to load I get a "Google play store has stopped" message.
I've cleared the data and cache for all Google play services and framework.
I know there isn't a great chance I'll get this working, but I figured I'd see if anyone had any more suggestions to try.
It's a proscan plt8801k running 4.1.1
Thanks
No need to flash a GApps package. The Play Store apk would be enough.
DOWNLOAD PLAY STORE VERSION 4.6.17 (OP)
I tried that first. But it just crashes right after it opens so I installed gapps to see if part of the Google framework was missing. Got any other tips?

If you have FCs right after the installation of the above apk go to Settings > App > All and clear app data of Google Play Store and Google Play Services then reboot and try again.
I appreciate you taking the time to help me.
I had tried resetting all apps and settings before, but this time I manually cleared the data on the two you just mentioned.
Same issue.
I wonder If there is some other dependency that is missing or out of date because the entire store loads (icons and all) and then about a half a second later it crashes.

No worries. This method doesn't work on some devices and I never had to face this issue but try this (it's free ):
Go to Settings > App > All > Hit on Google stuff and check if everything is running.
Go to Settings > App > Do you have a 'Disabled' menu on the right?
By the way on a 2012 MPMAN tablet the following apks were needed (information taken on a tech blog):
• GoogleServiceFramework.apk
• (Google)OneTimeInitializer.apk
• SetupWizard.apk
• com.android.vending-X.X.X-signed.apk
Do you have all these apks?
The instructions explain to directly reboot after installing the apk files. Do not try to open the Play Store before rebooting!
There is no disabled menu but I checked all the Google stuff and none of it was disabled.
I just did a factory reset and installed the play apk then rebooted
I'm not rooted yet so I can't see the apks themselves. But I may be missing those last two because I don't see then in settings-> apps. Can you recommend a date place to download them?

Unzip the GApps package and you can find them in /system/app.
Did u grab the right package? Is your Android version 4.1.x?
You need root to push these apks into the right directory.
I thought that would be accomplished when I flashed the zip as an update.
Okay so I'm rooted, I gave es rootexplorer root access. I extracted the zip and tried coying the apks to /system/app but I got a access denied error.
What is the proper way to accomplish this?

Yes you need to modify the permissions of ES File to R/W. From the side panel hit 'Root Explorer' > Mount R/W > Checl both / and /system as RW > OK.
So on my kindle i had everything installed to have the play store working and i got the play store to work and i got the youtube app to work. And so what happened was i deleted the youtube app and installed the newest version and when i opened youtube it gave me the google play services error, but the play store itself still worked.
So what i did was i uninstalled all the google account manager, google services frame work, etc.
And tried to fix the youtube issue by reinstalling all of those things. I started by installing google account manager, and then i rebooted it to install the next thing. Only, when it started up i could unlock the device, but none of the apps would load. So i did a stupid thing and factory reset it, which i think got rid of the root.
I have no idea what to do. I couldn't find any thread about this.
The notificaton bar works and the navigaton buttons show up on the side. So i can get to settings, but the carousel and home screen won't load after i unlock it

Try to turn off wifi and reboot.
You should see that your device has found update, no more variants.
I'll try it again after school. What would I do next if I get the error again?
I have no idea. This is one variant. if tablet do not found update - this says about broken symlinks for example or something else that anyway do not fix without root.
btw check your root status:
adb shell
su

I didn't really understand any of that. What is a broken symlink? And I don't think I'm rooted because I factory reset it.
Also, how could I check root status and what would be the purpose?
Okey. You not rooted now, so do not pay attention.
Your one method to get working device is update firmware.
In way that I described.
If you do not see "update" button after pulling file - sorry. no other idea.
So basically, if this doesn't work I'm screwed?
Anyone else got any ideas?
Hi,
I'm on XtreStoLite 2.4 5.1.1 on my S6 edge for months now. All was working perfectly. Recently, GPS started crashing randomly, but except for the error, services and sync seemed to be working fine. Now ytdy armageddon started and now Google apps connected to GPS (search, keep, music, but not play store for example) will not run and get killed instantly.
What I did based on what ive found:
- deactivated play services, uninstalled updates and restored the account, GPS 9.0.83 (240-121911109)
- wiped cache/dalvik which helped for couple of minutes
appreciate any help!
I've had problems too with the latest play services on LG G4 H815 6.0 v20d. Google Play Services crashes non boot and Google Chrome crash after a few seconds of opening.
Uninstalling updates fixed it but I'm told by many apps that I need the latest version. I didn't wipe cache though.

Got a fix. Google apps working. No force closes/errors. Root needed to prevent auto-update to latest version.
i) Get to the May 7th (or earlier) Play Services from here: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/
Look at the notes at the top to see which version you need arm or 64 ect.
In you're case, it's '240' so arm64 + arm android 5.0+ version. Direct download for you link: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...s-9-0-81-240-121617224-android-apk-download//ii) Enable airplane mode to prevent updates
iii) Then just install the apk on top of your rolled back version. Apks only install if version is newer.
iv) Using a root-enabled file manager like ES File Explorer, open \data\app and create two new, empty folders titled com.google.android.gms-1.apk and com.google.android.gms-2.apk. This tricks Google into causing auto updating of your GPS to fail.
v) Reboot (important)
Optional) Set Google Play Services as a device administrator again under security settings for Device Manager features.
If you get an error during install, then follow this guide to install: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/delete-disable-downgrade-prevent-update-t3091832

I'll try and find another way to stop auto updates.
Same problem here, uninstalled services by titanium then installed back by apk and flashed open gapps, worked for me
None of those worked for me. Well, I used the opportunity to update XtreStoLite to MM, and problem disappeared, obviously
However, come to think of it, it could have sth to do with Amplify killing processes. Thing is, I didn't manipulate with anything there recently, but after activating xposed module on updated ROM i saw some crashes again. Anyway, I disabled it in any case now, want to see how the battery will last on the updated ROM, but it could be connected
