Lucky you, i have a "dead pixel", green one.
And a yellowspot in the rightbottom corner, but that'll fade over time. (i hope)
I'm glad that the screen has a very high resolution, it's really hard to even notice the dead pixel.
I have noticed a yellowish tinge at the bottom of the display. Only really notice it when there is a white background. Is it likely that the display is somehow faulty??

I have the exact same, a yellowish spot in the bottom right corner.
I hoped it was the same problem as the iphone or SGS2.
They say the yellowspot is from the glue that they use to stick the screenlayers together, but it needs time to vaporise and should go away over time.
But I have my phone now almost a week and i still get the spot back now and then.

I've the same problem. I checked with service centre and they say it's software issues, which I can't believe.

Sounds like bull**** to me.
I had contact with T-Mobile today, about the dead pixel and yellowspot.
The guy told me he's going to get information for me, and see if they can replace it. he'll send me an email later.
Same hear.
Barely visible yellowish (only on whites) at the bottom part of the screen.
It varies depending on the view angle.
Perfect screen here

Lucky you! I'm still waiting for update from Sony! Will see if they can replace the unit.
I also noticed that at times the yellowish spot disappears and appears back again! I wonder what it could be!!

Ah you are the guy from the T-Mobile forum (Hiraj) with 5 dead pixels.
Anyway they told me it's in stock again next week (Monday 19th)
Just noticed that my screen keeps flickering, this is more noticeable on white backgrounds, is this normal as in the auto brightness or should I be worried?

Hi guys just wanna update you regarding screen issues.
I've spoken with people on the forum of my country, other 2 guys with Xperia S and both of them got that really barely visible yellow tint on the bottom part of the screen (also, one of these guys has 2 Xperia S -him and his brother- and both of them have that tint).
Really difficult to explain it on forums (nothing compared to the GS2 yellow tint) because it's really hard to see and only visible on white/clear colors uniform backgrounds, but according to what I'm seeing it's a common issue, not a problem of a single faulty unit.
Got a blue/whiteisch pixel to the top right of my screen
They said i need to have more then 3 to get a new phone :/`
Can i fix this ?

I have the problem too. I called technical team dept from where i bought the phone, and they asked me to do a screen test over the phone. I tap the screen it shows all white, tap again red, green etc etc. He asked me if i could see a yellowish tinge running across the bottom of the display when these colours appeared on the display which i couldn't to be honest. I took it back to the shop, and i dont know if it has to do with the bright lighting within the store, but it didn't show up hardly at all, barely noticeable. It seems less noticeable in a well lit environment, or outside as opposed to when i am at home where it i notice it more. It is midly annoying, but this shouldn't be the case.
Can anyone throw any light as to what this could be??
Thanks

I believe that yellowish tint has something to do with warmth from the screen or the battery or the screen staying on for a longer time or something or something.
because when I'm using it alot, playing games, browsing, whatsapp etc etc. for like an hour. It gets more visible.
And then it's from "barely noticeable" to "hard to miss"
I can clearly see it on Grey (notification slide down) or Blue (startscreen DrawSomething) or White.

Same here. Interesting what you say. I would still like to know where the consumer stands on this issue, and if Sony themselves would recogonise if this is a somehow a fault with the display. My Arc had no such problems.
Hi guys,
I'm new here, but I was reading the threads on the S from the start.
Reading through the screen problems I was thinking about the following:
The Xperia S's screen is glued- as I know -, like for example the iPhone4/4s'. Some i4 users noticed this yellowish tint as well, and they've came to a conclusion it was because of the glue what was used to put the screens together and it disappeared after about 1,5-2 weeks.
This could explain the reaction to temperature differences too.
on my new galaxy s3 i have noticed in dark backround in dark room i have them bloody annoying black spots. i have recearched it but it only says its a common problem for amoled screens. i have about 8 of these spots one which is huge. only noticable in dark room using black screen. do i get replacement or will that just be a waste of my time?
Let me recap
- you're in a very dark room
- you're watching a black screen
There's an easy hardware-fix to this problem; shortly press the button on the right side of the screen and the blotches will disappear, while the rest of the image (read: black screen) remains intact. [/IRONY]
It's, as you found out, a common sight on AMOLED however it's not an issue. These pixels are simply darker than the others.
Galaxy S3 black ink spots
ok thank you makes sense. but buying a $1000 phone you would not expect something like this. so is this a software or hardware problem sorry for askng??
return it get a new one.
i was planning to but how am i going to prove to the retailer of my problem? first of all it will need to be a very dark room which is unlikely in a shopping mall unless he throws a blanket over his head lol. second of all some people see these things more easily than others, the staff member might not be able even in the right conditions to spot any marks....
Kick his ass and make him go check it in the toilet roms. Tell him not to forget to turn the lights off lol
i wish i could but then he will charge me for rape lol. seriously though im starting to think that if i get a new one it mght even be worse
sell it get the htc one x

I too found 2 dots on my phone. I returned it immediately, got a new one after a week, found 3 dots now . I dont know what to do now.
Even if you return it a million times you'll still get some...
According to supercurio it's a software issue (trigger voltage slightly too low or something like that) and will be fixed with his upcoming 'Display Expert' app
I had some on my S2 and now on my nexus.. To prove it you can download an app called LCD Text (AMOLED) from the market (it has the logo of an RGB circle pattern) and then set it to full brightness and black screen, you will notice them very quickly.

Looks like Samsung is unable to mass-produce flawless AMOLED displays at the moment because so many people report this issue so this is not an isolated example.
yea well as i mentioned seems though swapping for new one might help or it might just make the problem worse. i think its a factory fault. i mean it does not efect the phone abilities at all but its dam anoying???

I don't get .. you can see them only on a complete black screen and in a pitch dark environment, so you always in dark?
Noticed this when I set my brightness low for night time reading. Thought there was something wrong with my screen, but once I found out it was normal it didn't annoy me as much.
Not sure if its me trying to adjust to the S6 Edge screen coming from a HTC One M7 or what but boy why is the screen brightness bad on the S6 Edge? Thought Samsung got better with these screens, I compared my S6 Edge with my mom's S5 and her phone was noticeably brighter, how?! Also, I saw reviews saying that under direct sunlight, the screen brightness can go pretty high and I tested it putting a flash light onto the sensor and wow did it make a difference, why can't we have that high of a brightness on this beautiful phone all the time?! sorry if this offends some people, just very disappointed with the brightness on this phone ugh.
Not sure what's going on for you, Im on auto but the slider is the lowest it can go and it's bright enough for everything except strong sunlight when I had to move the slider up a bit. The screen is bright, perhaps a setting or software bug?
Well now something is up. So I'm not even using auto brightness and the screen goes brighter in lighted areas and then dims when I'm outside at night, is this normal?

I'm hoping that the custom based TW gets rid of the brightness lock or whatever Samsung tough was smart to do lol

Let me tell you one thing. Samsung care or services or whatever they do are crap. They will try to find as much freaking way possible to avoid helping/exchage/repair. My device have camera blur issue ( when zoomed in ) yes zoomed in will blur but the blur is crap. Even my old note 3 can take sharper picture when zoomed in. My usb port is out of position and the separate plastic coating around it is broken. Regarding all these issue, Samsung said to me that it is not an issue and just minor and it can't claim for repair or exchange. Screw samsung in customer care. Their phone is great if you get a perfectly well builded phone. If your phone happen to have problem, you are gonna have painful days.

I have the same problem I only noticed when I put my s6 edge next to regular s6 on max brightness the s6 screen is brighter, but when I turn on and off the auto brightness on the s6 edge the problem goes away till i lock the phone and it dim again, it's software bug, samsung too busy making money right now so it will take them min to get update fix.
Did android 5.1.1 update solve the brightness bug? I mean this seems really a huge bug how is it possible that samsung didn't come out with a solution yet?

Absolutely not. It's the first thing everybody disabled. It's not related to that. It's a bug of the s6 edge still not solved.
The Trivo guy said its a software issue. He said in a post somewhere that he installed the galaxy S6 ROM and the brightness issue was fixed. Hope its juts a software bug. Fingers crossed

Hey Im having the problem in the video but opposite, I have a case that goes over my screen kind of like a wallet case with a see through window so I can see .Estates I get, anyways when the case is open (brightness auto is off and turned all the way up) it's dimmed, but when I put the case over the screen it because full brightness again? Is this the same glitch going on or do I need to fix something?
just go to setting/ then > Display & finally under brightness scrollbar turn off > Auto adjust brightness. Hope everything shinning again……..
So after reading posts about a pink tint to the screen, i decided to put it next to my girlfriends white s6. Wish i hadnt. Her s6 is CONSIDERABLY more bright than mine with a white screen. Didnt notice much of a pink tint, even though i believe its faintly there. More worried about the brightness level.
I made sure everything was the same. Same screen mode, same brightness level, same picture. Hers was much brighter and much more white than mine. Will take some side by side pics when i get home. Really dissapointed actually... Thinking about going with a regular s6 if i can switch it out.. Just to many problems plagueing the edge.

im not super worried about the pink tint, as many galaxy phones have had this issue and is later not as noticable, but the darker, less bright-screen would diminish image quality IMO.

This was known some time ago. You should read AnandTech reviews at least before you purchase a phone. S6 will always be more bright than the edge.
Try putting a flashlight on the light sensor with auto bright off and brightness turned all the way up. Watch how bright and vibrant the screen gets. It is a programming error. We traded to regular S6s. I noticed my S6 screen also had a very dull screen. Returned it for an M9.

you mentioned two s6's. Was only one of the screens dull? Was the other one flawless? Opinion of m9 vs s6?
so the darker screen on the s6e compared to my girlfriends s6 is just a software brightness bug? i can live with this.. My screen isnt super pink either... If my screen is just as bright as my girlfriends, then ill stick it out for a software update.
My wife is fine with her screen. It seems better than my returned S6. The M9 feels better in hand to me. Speakers are not as loud but sound way better on the M9. The colors on the screen of the M9 are not as vibrant as the S6. Whites are better though. No stutters or issues besides that in my M9. I've yet to feel it get any hotter than the S6.

I actually read my first AnandTech phone review because of this comment. I've been using the site mainly for computer parts comparisons and reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by just how detailed their phone review was. Thanks for posting!:good:
Also, however, to respond the forum OP's question, OP should definitely check if the auto brightness setting is enabled. With it on, max brightness goes way up, while with it off, the regular max brightness is relatively darker.

Edge is way brighter according to this LUX test, maybe you got a defective unit
okay been doing alot of reading. There seems to be a defect in the edge model, just about all of them. With auto brightness off (meaning the phone has no control over brightness of the screen), in a dim room with brightness bar cranked up, the screen will dim. When i did this test, my room was dimly lit. Will do some more tests later when iget home.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...-auto-brightness-issues-strange-glitch-5.html
okay, so heres a video i took to demonstrate the issue.
its a big difference in my Nexus 6 vs the Edge. The Nexus is MUCH brighter.
I bought today S6 Edge and that was for me quite a disappointment.
But when you put a flashlight to a light sensor (or whatever it calls), you can see that S6 Edge has two more modes-both brighter. The first brighter mode is bright like S6 and the second one like S6 under the flashlight (or sunlight). That shows that the screens are same and that the problem is software. I cant wait to see, whether they solve this with the next update.

Same thing here. Samsung is still not solving the issue and it is aware since more than a month! How difficult is to be solved? I'm not sure they will ever solve it at this point.
Guess this is affecting only the carrier variants. Mines a international GSM g925i and I am in a dark room typing this with auto brightness turned off and brightness at 40pc or so..the screen is damn bright and it has remained this way without dimming.. So not a issue here. Also I think the brightness at 40pc is killing my eye right now..so its quite good. May be a feature requested by the carriers who knows...
No it's affecting the no brands also. Mine was no brand bought on the web store, in NL.
