Afternoon X'ers, is there any chance that someone is working on a Kernel with sound enhancement? We only have one kernel available atm and the dev won't add it Trust me, I've looked into doing it myself, but I'm afraid it's beyond me. Can anyone help?
If you want to improve sound qsuliry use an equilizer such as V4A. If low latency us what your looking for, I'm not sure how practical it would be. Typically quality is most altered via the audio libraries themselves and not the kernel
---------- Post added at 12:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:51 AM ----------
Oh and the dev won't add something like thatu because it affects the entire system occasionally causing instability
If you have rooted your devices and installed custom recovery, just flash lolliviper. zip, and enjoy the amazing sound..
thanks for your replies, it's more for gain increasing... I'll have a look for lolliviper.zip though, thanks!

I've seen a lot of people suggest LG Camera. It does seem to take pictures a bit quicker (at least, there's no slow, laggy animation when saving the photo) and there are some additional quality options...but not all of the options work, and geotagging doesn't seem to be functional. I keep going back to the stock app.
This may be borderline the wrong place to post this, but it does concern custom ROM's, so technically it would be considered development I do believe. If not I'm truly sorry and move it to the correct section please. Anyway, my question is just like the title states. I've dug around a lot and haven't really found the answer. I promise I wasn't lazy and just made a new thread without researching . I want to know if anyone knows of anything like a CM10, CM11, any CM based ROM, or basically anything other than the 4.1.2 stock based ROM's with working HDMI. It is a must for me. You can go to the CM site and others, but it doesn't really say anything about it, being that most ROM's aren't all out device specific anymore, and many devices do not offer HDMI because of hardware anyway. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
NO WAY !This is only available on stock ROMs because the related stuffs are close-sourced.

hes absolutely right. roms that are "Stock based", Jellybean 4.1.2 will possibly have the hdmi functionality. Artmod is one
Thanks for the replies. That's exactly what I've come to learn. I decided to give up and I'm in the process of cooking up my own ROM. It will have every feature that I use and a lot of other goodies baked in.

I've run this ROM and it's okay. I've pretty much run everything imaginable on six different devices. I was just hoping that someone knew of something like a pure AOSP based or Cyanogen based ROM with working HDMI. I've looked everywhere and tried to add it to ROM's and it just won't work. It has something to do with the stock 4.1.2 firmware and the drivers. So we'll probably never see that function in anything like a 4.4+ ROM unless we get an official update (WHICH WILL NEVER HAPPEN) I decided to give up and I'll just swap to stock in Safestrap when I need HDMI capability. Right now I'm in the process of cooking up a nice little custom 4.4.2 pure AOSP based ROM. It will feature NOVA Launcher and the most dynamic launcher made (it's a secret) as home options. I'm mainly focusing on smoothness, responsiveness, and battery life.

OOOH MY MY Lol! I'm very intrigued on this. I will definitely load the kernel up on a 4.4 build and see how it works out. If it works I will either put it in my build or link it to my OP when I post my ROM. Regardless lucize and dtrail1 will have full recognition and credit for the kernel and working HDMI. Man, if this works my RAZR will be a beast. I got really lucky and scored a MAXX on ebay for $51 with only the screen broken. It took a total of about 20 minutes to convert mine to the MAXX last night. As far as I can tell I'm saving around 11 to 13 percent more battery per hour with fairly heavy use. I have a couple of questions. Do you guys like the Xperia's Album (photo gallery) and Walkman music player with ACID Audio? All features work in the builds I have. And which gapps do you prefer? I'm trying to figure out which ones to recommend. I pretty much always go with Slim. Okay enough rambling. It's time to test.

Alright, I will definitely give thanks to all where thanks is due. If this works out then our little RAZR's will at least be able to contend with any device when it comes to performance and the all out coolness factor. Fully functioning HDMI is pretty much all it was missing

Indeed, HDMI is something that even the newest flagships don't have..
As for Xperia Album and Walkman, not a big fan of Albums, but Walkman, Hell Yeah.!!! I've been trying to make it work for Razr since the day I bought it. Would love it on the device.

The problem with making it work on the RAZR is the drivers. Even if you get a hold of a flashable Walkman .zip, most of the time it will not work correctly, no matter which version you get. It will usually also break any other music player you have installed. When you play a song you only get a split second of sound. The song will continue to play but with no sound. But never fear, it functions 100% in my build. Everyone can thank Nx Biotic for telling me where to look for the fix to this issue. Unfortunately I'm delayed on finishing the ROM for a short time. My little girl decided my screen and LCD looks better completely shattered Lol. At least I have the trusty "absolutely sucks compared to the RAZR" Droid Charge. It does have HDMI though. Parts are on the way for the RAZR and I will continue testing shortly. Keep an eye out.
So, did anyone get HDMI working with a custom ROM? AFAIK only the "official" ROM's work, but as they are so old, not so much fun. Shame we can't get the best of both worlds. Anyone know someone from Moto who can find the source code for this "secret" HDMI stuff, or has anyone the knowledge to decompile it from an official ROM?
I tried lot of roms on my optimus g like slimkat, twistedkat, cm11 m6, beenstalk, mokee but every one have issue with them like occasionally reboots heating issue etc etc.
I know there are lot of roms what i didn't try yet, but can anyone tell me which one is best from them. I need a active display, a button for clear recent apps, theme chooser in it and obviously a kitkat. Can anyone help me, which one hav no bugs or issue and zero reboots, please suggest me a rom for my lg e970.thanks
Ok for me the most stable and best rom I've used is mahdi rom + glitchMOD kernel + 84/27 hybrid radio from the hybrid radio thread. I didn't even try any other Tom before that but for me it works as well as the stock lg Rom for me the only thing is I'm not sure if it has active display since I wouldn't want to use that but I can tell you that it had the rest of the features that you wanted and I haven't had any random reboots or bugs as well

So I did a google search and found this site and figured I'd share it since it improved my listening experience. I didn't end up following the instructions exactly because I didn't really like the given settings too much but this guide shared some files which ended up being the best part. It takes some playing around with the settings to get the sound you want and at first I was making things sound worse but after about 15 minutes of messing with settings I found my own personal sweet spot. If people are interested I'll share my settings.
Keep your volume down when adding the "IRS Impulse Response Sample files" because some of them dramatically increase the volume. I mean to where 10 on the volume sounds loud and 20+ is really loud.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy it, and leave some feedback.

I would do an XDA search for Viper A.R.I.S.E.
Really good profiles. I used to have it on my S5.
I would highly suggest flashing Deuteronomy. I have no clue what other versions are out now. They even have a Dolby Atmos add-on. It's optional though. Don't even need to bother with IRS samples.
Either way, please read it. They are a great group of devs. Much better then messing with settings in V4A. Trust me. I followed that guide. Wasn't very happy till I flashed A.R.I.S.E.

I don't like ARISE (UI needs an update as well) and found what I was using to be better. This mod is what I was using https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/mod-beatsaudio-e-xloud-installer-t3029951 which I like more. Unfortunately now it looks like I'm going to have to wipe my phone and start fresh because after installing ARISE I can't get the other mod working again. Driver keeps failing to install. I appreciate the recommendation but actually I definitely prefer what I had going on with that other mod, the IRS sample file, and my own tweaks.
Also, I said I didn't like that guide recommendations either but it was my own tweaks in combination with one of the IRS samples that ended up being good.

I don't know what you mean by "UI needs an update". A.R.I.S.E does not have a UI. Viper is updated to the new version. That UI has a redesign. Then there is the player.
Your mod was not working because you always have to make backups first. A.R.I.S.E changes a bunch of stuff.

The version of ViPER that came with the latest ARISE download was ugly is what I meant. Though I've known of ViPER for years I never really used it before even though it was preloaded on a lot of ROMs because I never really listened to music on my phones. Anyway, I didn't like ARISE as much as what I had. No worries, I got everything set back up and even found a nice profile along the way so it worked out Thanks again.

Ah yes, the updated Viper is ugly and overly complicated.
In the future, if you are going to try different mods, make backups. Just makes it easier. Glad you got everything sorted out.

I debloated the latest build and tweaked a couple tiny things. It seems a ton smoother than stock. I still play with it from time to time to make it smoother. If there is any interest, I can refine it a bit more and upload it for you guys.
I'd be interested in a debloated build for sure.
Yes i would be interested in a debloated rom. The stock one is a battery drainer.
I'm still working on it to make it much lighter and smoother. I took out all of the fit apps. Why do we need ASUS fit apps AND Google fit apps? I don't use these things, but they can be added from the PlayStore if you want. I find that a lot of things are much quicker without all the added bloat. Debloating a watch is much different than debloating a phone. Hopefully one of these days I'll feel that it's ready to push to you guys and see what you think.
I would LOVE that as well!
more interested...
Definitely interested
I'd be interested.
Me too!
I finally uploaded something! Let me know what you think. https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenwatch-2/development/sparrow7-1-1debloat-rom-t3800067
I am also very interested. Could you write a tutorial on how to install the ROM? That would be great.
Did you follow the link in the post just before yours? It has all the commands listed, just follow them in order.
Don't know if you are still interested in this watch. If yes and it is not too much work could you please implement the build.prop patch to disable wake on touch? Living in a rainy area and watch is always on when clothes get wet. Very annoying. Maybe you can show me and others to change buildprop without being referred every reboot... But your debloated image with this patch would be stellar. ?
Still like this watch very much....
