Folders in App Drawer - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK, I did the search and came up nothing. But I noticed that Google managed to put a folder in the app drawer, how can I?

Open app drawer
Open menu
Select view apps by
Select "custom"
Open menu again
Select "edit/uninstall apps"
Now just drag an app over another and it will create a folder.
Once you create a folder, you can sort apps however you want again. By editing them from any view now, you can add to that folder.

So cool... Thanks... There is still a lot I need to learn... :highfive:

Nice... now how do I remove that damn Google folder and put the apps in it back in the app drawer where they belong?
(edit) Found out how. https://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/3aehbx/how_to_remove_google_folder_in_app_drawer/

Yes you can use Launcher Pro to do this. Just press and hold on the screen and Shortcut is at the top of the list.
Sorry think that gives apps etc not a single file ( assuming like a word document)
Edit: might be worth trying a folder widget and see if you can place a file in it, at least it would be quicker to get to that way instead of going through the menu system.
Astro file manager allows you to do that. Once installed, press and hold the screen, choose shortcut, choose astro, that will fire up astro and allow you to navigate to the file you want as a shortcut, just select that file and it will place it on your home screen as a shortcut in Touchwiz, Launcherpro etc.
Anycut in the mkt.
Thanks guys ;-)
I found a app. Adao file Manager - it does the job 70% (it can make a shortcut to a folder - not a file) -
I will give astra a try one of the comming days.
Thanks for all the answers
I installed Astro File Mamager - its working perfect. It can make shortcut both to a file and to a folder. Thanks

Organizing App drawer

Last night I made make folders and organized my app drawer. I am so anal that I even alphabetized the apps inside the folders. The "edit alphabetize" worked ok for the folders themselves but not for the apps inside. I found that by dragging them in in alphabetical order, I could satisfy myself HOWER...
Today, I tried to go back and make some changes in my app drawer folders and I can't figure out how to get inside the folders to remove an app. I am sure I did it yesterday. Duh!
Home - Applications - Menu - Edit - View Type - Customizable grid
will allow new folders and moving of folders but how do I rearrange or delete apps inside those folders????
Thank you for any help here!
open the folder and long press the app you want to remove

[Q] Unable to add folders??

I am not able to create new folders on the homescreen. I go to 'Add to screen", press 'Folder' .... nothing happens.
I can add Applications, Widgets or GOWidgets but not folders.
NT is rooted with OTA blocked.
Thanks
With Go launcher at least, you can long press on an app that you want to place in a folder, and drag it on top of another app you wish to place in the same folder. Release the app and a folder will be created with both apps in it. You can do this both in the app drawer or on the homescreen.
Same here using ZeamLauncher, getting FC's.

Opening files directly from home screen

Anyway to open say a text file or folder directly from the main screen? I'm sick of having to open up my file manager and navigate though my folders to open up a file I use frequently. Like on a PC creating shortcuts on your desktop.

The best thing I got is to make a dropbox if yu dont aalready have one, then put the folder you use the most in dropbox then when yur on yur home go to shortcut, dropbox folder? That's all I got? Lol

I'm using the pc desktop shortcut as an example. Just wanting to know if there is a way I can create a link to a file on my phones memory to my home screen.

Good question. I see you can create a new folder on the home screen, but like you I don't see a way to make a shortcut to an existing folder.
I use an app called Power Strip and put all my "frequently used apps and files" in there.

I like it..works for me.
I haven't figured it out with TouchWiz, but I use ADW Launcher EX and when you long press the home screen it gives the option to add a shortcut. You can add shortcuts to files that way.
Go google play and download anycut app.

[Q] Create Folder in App Drawer?

I am probably just missing it, but is there a way to make folders in the app drawer screen? I have the default google folder but I can't seem to create my own (or remove any apps from the google folder). Thanks.

Pretty sure you just drag one app on top of the other to create a folder. Then just drag other apps in to add.

Right, but it seems like that can only be done on the home screen panels, not in the app drawer.

Go to app drawer, tap menu, tap "view apps by" and select "user customized".
While you're still in app drawer tap menu again, select "edit/uninstall apps"
Now drag an icon onto another icon to place them into a folder together.
While in edit mode you can open a folder and drag all the apps out of it to delete the folder.
