Hangouts dialer for gingerbread? - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

I'm using the Galaxy player 4.2. I was using the Google voice app with my actual phone number to send and receive texts. But after switching to hangouts I can no longer send texts with my number. Most likely because I don't have hangouts installed. Is there a way to install hangouts dialer with the Galaxy player?

I'm not sure. I believe Hangouts Dialer requires 4.0.3 and up. I also had this problem back when I was still running stock on my Galaxy Player 4.0 before I went on CM 11. As for the state of custom roms for the 4.2, I don't think it has a CM 11 like the player 3.6 one does.

Yep the 4.2 had the least development on the Galaxy players. Now it seems that development is completely dead. At least the 4.0 and the 5.0 are still alive.

[Q] Stock Bluetooth Voice Dialer App?

I'm not a fan of the Voice Talk App that comes with the SGS II, purely because it can't seem to recognize what I'm saying half of the time. So I froze it using Titanium Backup.
How do i get the stock android bluetooth voice dialer working on my phone now? It was part of the Cyanogenmod 7+ ROM for my HTC Magic. I installed Google Voice Search from the market, hoping that it'll be part of that, but it wasn't.
Anyone know what's the app or how I could get hold of it?
Thanks in advance!
Bump.. anyone?

[Q] Using the dialer's sip client

Hello, after a full day of googling, messing my device up, and headaches - here I am.
Before I go any further it would probably help to explain my device configuration. I have a galaxy player, which has no mobile data or cellular capabilities (essentially a phoneless galaxy S), running unnoficial cm9 ICS. Because cm9 hasn't been optimized for media players, I still have the phone features such as the dialer built-in.
My goal is to get google voice working with the sip feature on the cm9 dialer. Through the help of pbxes.org and trial and error, I have mostly succeeded. The one minuscule yet painfully crippling issue I have is the ringtone doesn't play when I receive a call, even though it vibrates and shows the call screen normally. Now before you ask the painfully obvious; YES I tried setting a new ringtone, NO my device isn't in silent mode, and YES my volume is turned up.
I haven't tried a data reset yet, but that is last resort as I have no way to nandroid. I was wondering if this is a bug with cm9 or ICS in general, or a device specific issue I have. I would be so thankful if anyone that has experienced this and possibly found the solution could share it! Thank You.
I'll take silence as a sign no one else has this issue?

You know I do use a third party app but to have this ability would be kind if awesome. Right now I use groove ip but have the dialer would be cool. Have you tried with another dialer or do you not want it?

I have looked at other dialers but none of them have the sip capabilities. I also tried some sip clients like sipdroid - which rang fine, although interestingly simplecsp fails to ring just like the stock dialer. I am thinking it is a bug with our cm9 since system ui sounds also seem to not play.

There is no settings with in settings that allows you to put the ringtone so you might have to do it the way I did it. The way was is you have to download zedge and find the ringtone you want and then download it and then it hit set as and it will ask you what you want to set it as and set it as your ringtone and it'll work

Hmm, I have no problem setting ringtone.
I have made several important discoveries;
The reason the system UI sounds don't work is because the system volume is set to 0 and can't be adjusted in the system settings, but I used AudioManager to turn it up. Now system UI sounds work fine but still no ringtone.
Another discovery is when I set poweramp to not pause for incoming calls, I hear the ringtone! It plays over poweramp, but this is a huge clue to my problem.

Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 International unlocked Jelly Bean Email Voice Typing Problem

Hi All
I have the Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 International unlocked phone.
I put the official Jelly Bean update on it via Klies today.
All is good except a very weird problem when you use Google Voice typing to enter text in the stock email app.
If i want to move to a new line, in ICS i just say RETURN and it goes to new line.
Now in Jelly Bean for Texting and for Gmail this works fine as well, using RETURN and it goes to new line.
If you are using the stock Android Email app THIS DOES NOT WORK.
When you say RETURN, it adds a space and sometimes deletes a space, but it does not go to new line.
This is incredibly frustrating and weird as it works in most apps but not in email.
ANY IDEAS????
Thanks
Daniel

Sorry i should have mentioned that i googled that earlier and tried using enter or new paragraph and they don't work as well.
Of course they work like return does in the other apps like messaging and gmail where it works fine.
The prob is just in the stock android email app.
I may have to do a factory reset but that is a PITA.
Any other ideas?

Try k9mail. If you had root i would say try an older version of the stock mail app.

I hear ya, however, i am curious if this is an actual bug with jelly Bean and / or on this phone or if it is just some weird glitch on my particular install.
If the former i am looking to see if others have this? If you have a S2 with jelly bean, can u confirm if it works ok for you?
If the latter then im prob have to do a factory reset
I would like to continue using the fsctory app as K9 doesn't do exchange i believe

Never used Voice to Text (disabled this function), because i'm dutch and it's only supported for english.
K9mail does support exchange
BUMP, anyone else can verify if there stock android email app can use return or next line through voice typing google voice to move to the next line while composing an email?

Google voice # to make calls?

For some reason I cannot make calls using my GV #. Everything thing else works with it.. I searched and saw theses custom roms sometimes use third party dialers. It was said to set that to off in call settings, but i am not seeing that. Any ideas?
I was having issues yesterday between 630AM and 4PM EDT......I think it was a Verizon issue as my wife was having issues as well. Are you sorted now?
Could it possibly have something to do with Google updating hangouts to include voice calls yesterday?

Nope... Still calls from regular # regardless of how I have GV set.... What gives!! I can't be the only one dealing with this.. Just installed on GFs S3 and she gets same results as me.
I have been making calls using Google voice integrated into the dialer just like every phone I have ever had. Works fine on CM based roms and TW based roms. Worked since the hangouts change so I don't think that's related.

I was on clean rom yesterday and jelly beans today. Made no changes to the dialer. Neither rom is working with GV and the dialer for me.

[Q] AOSP-ish SMS/MMS Available?

Is there a AOSP port of the Messaging app that will work with our phones? I keep coming across ones that will work on Samsung devices not running AOSP roms but nothing else saying it will work across devices. I believe sideloading the AOSP one works but MMS won't send or receive properly. Don't mind the LG one but would love going back to AOSP
Did you try the app Messaging? I haven't tested MMS on our phones but it worked in the past on my old phone.
Messaging on Play Store
What about using Hangouts for SMS? I like it because all of my messaging takes place in 1 app.
