Weird problem with MicroSD 32gb v 64gb - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

Hello all,
I have searched and searched and cannot find an answer to a weird issue I'm having with my Dinc. Currently, I have a partitioned 32gb MicroSD card installed, and the phone is rooted. I got curious one day to try the 64gb SD card.
Well, the Dinc recognizes the 64gb card OK. It can see the files. But.....I lose "partial" root. What I mean by partial root is a root checker will say it is rooted, other pgms such as file explorer will confirm rooted. The issue that I have is when Link2SD goes to mount the second partition, it says the phone is NOT rooted. I have tried a coupkle of different brand SD cards, formatted them with different formatting programs, but still cannot get that gremlin out of it. I can use Mini-Partition and partition a 3gb partition on the end, copy all my files to the remaining 57gb or so, but it will not let Link2SD recreate the mount scripts. But...I can see all the files just fine.
Anyone with any ideas or the cure? This has me pulling my hair out!

There was a similar issue with TB on the GS4 using a 64g card. See if adding permissions fixes this on the DINC4G

[Q] Droid Eris SD Card Full - But it isn't

I am using a 8GB SD card on my Eris. When I go to storage and check what is left it says 756mb. But when I connect it to my Mac to make a backup there is only 4.67GB on the card.
What gives?
When I delete stuff from the SD card using my USB connection on my Mac the available space on the card never increases.
I use Doubletwist (I think that is the main problem - as it never syncs only what I ask, but other stuff too) and I can delete the music to free up some space. But I still feel like there is a "trash" folder on the SD card that I need to empty.
Any Tips?
I am running workshed's CM7 GB latest rom.
Thanks!
Brad
There's no trash folder....
Is the SD card partitioned ? If there are partitions, did you possibly use the MAC to format one of the partitions and it used "HFS" for the format type ? If so, I don't think Android can read HFS but obviously the MAC can.
Hi, no I used the Droid to format the SD card and it is not partitioned. I had this problem about 2 months ago and I ended up just reformatting the card then reinstalling all the data on it. I just didn't want to have to do it again.

Flaky SD card ? I'd replace it...
Ok. It has been used for almost a year and a half. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing some blinding flash of the obvious.
Thanks!

SD Card and Android

Today I've run into a curious problem, and I've finally ran into a brick wall in solving it.
I have the Samsung galaxy S II Skyrocket, and I have a 16GB micro SD card that I just bought from wal-mart for it. The card has been awesome since I got it.
Earlier I was cleaning up stuff because I was running out of space, so I moved a bunch of stuff from the SD card to my laptop and deleted it off my sd card. When I went to move my stuff back over after having made my changes to it... the sdcard said it only had 5GB of memory left. That's weird, because I had just moved 10GB worth of stuff off of the sdcard. So something must be up.
I rebooted my phone and wiped the caches just to make sure it wasn't keeping stuff like that on it. I also got rid of the LOST.DIR folder. I would go through the whole card in Ubuntu terminal using ls -lh on every folder and there was no way that card only had 5GB of free space on it. So I went ahead and reformatted it.
This is where things went wrong.
Foolish me, and this was a mistake on my part, I chose ext 4 for whatever reason as opposed to FAT32. So now I have a 16gb sdcard that is blank and unreadable by my phone. My phone offers to format it, but the format does nothing. Formatting it in CWM also accomplishes nothing. And my other machines won't recognize the Sd card either, only my phone. My phone could see it, but say that it can't use it. Sdcard is blank or has an unsupported filesystem would be the error.
At least my phone could see it though, so I thought there must be a way to save this thing. My laptop couldn't recognize it for some reason, so using Gparted was out of the question.
After a couple attempted reformats and searching for apps that could format sd cards (I couldn't seem to find any) I went for a last ditch attempt and used the partition tool in CWM that I had read about some weeks ago for a completely unrelated task.
And voila I can see the card again. Except.. CWM partitioned 4GB, and those 4GB of data seem to be lost. No matter what, using windows, my phone, Gparted in ubuntu, they all say that the card has a max size of 10.7GB now as opposed to the 14.7 or so that it was supposed to have.
And now I'm stumped. Did CWM goof up and instead of partitioning off 4GB, it actually just destroyed 4GB and somehow made the sdcard work again at the cost of 25% of the data it is supposed to hold? Or is the way CWM partitions it something whacky where the 4GB is there but it is impossible to see it or access it or something..
tl;dr SD card had issues, repartitioning in CWM made it work again. Instead of having 16GB, it has 12GB. How to get those 4GB back?

Micro SD problems in HTC One (M8)

I have a 64gb Sandisk Ultra SDXC card formatted in exFAT. I had been using the card in my NOTE 2 with no issues. I normally keep all of my movies, music, emulators, and ROMs on it so I can keep space free on my phone. This morning I got my phone setup the way that I wanted it and I decided to install the SD card into the new phone. Everything seemed to go okay, I got a message telling me that it was preparing the card, but after the message disappeared, the SD card was not recognized. There were no error messages regarding the card, it simply did not show any additional storage on the phone and all options regarding the card with exception to "Mount SD Card" and "Format SD Card" were not accessible.
I took ejected the card and formatted it to NTFS to see if that would make a difference and when I reinserted it into the (M8), it recognized it as a blank SD card that was not in the proper format. It prompted me to format the card while still installed in the device, which it did without error. After the format was complete I received the same "Preparing SD Card" message that I received before, but after the message disappeared, the card still didn't show up as additional storage.
Through a root browser I have the option to enter extSD, but nothing I put on the card is there. I then took the card back out, installed it into my Note 2 and it worked with no problems at all. Finally I ejected the card, reinstalled it in the (M8) again, it gives me the same prompt as before, but after the message disappears the additional storage does not show up and all options with exception to "Mount SD Card" and "Format SD Card" are inaccessible once again.
I have tried the fix found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700310 to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening and is there any way that I can solve the problem?

If you have a USB card reader, try formatting the card as FAT32 with your computer.
I believe most cards come pre-formatted as FAT32 by default. I've always just put the cards in my Android devices without any formatting, and they work just fine.
Not sure why the device's default format didn't work, but possibly formatting on a computer will get it working.
It's possible that SD may be dying.
I had a 32gb card that a friend left with me to fill with movies/etc, but since I wasnt going to see them for a while, I decided to use it with my old LGOG. Not 3 days later, I get what you described, and now the card isnt even seen by Windows.
Even with formatting the card, it would work again for a few minutes, but as soon as I tried copying more than ~3 gigs, the card would go corrupt again.
SD cards dont last forever yo.

I just tried it out a few minutes ago. I don't know why, but it's working perfectly fine in Windows, a Note 2, S3, and an S5. I have no idea what's going on, but no matter what I try, nothing makes it work on this phone.

I was able to get the card formatted form exFAT to FAT32 and it looked like it was going to work, same with NTFS. I inserted it into the phone, waited for it to prepare the card and this time I got a message telling me that the SD Card was damaged, but I could format it in the phone. I followed the instructions, just as I had before, it went through it's thing, got to the part where it attempted to mount the card, appeared as though it was going to mount, and then nothing, just like with everything else. I have no idea what's going on.
I ran some tools on it and the card appears to be in good condition, so I have no idea what to do. I don't know if it's the phone, or if it is the card. I'm thinking about buying a 128gb card, but I'm afraid if I do, I'm going to find myself in the exact same position that I'm in now and out a lot of money to boot.
I'm loosing my mind with this thing.
Surely you must know someone that has a MicroSD card you can try. Trying another would pretty much eliminate the card as being the issue (and possibly the card tray or similar component on the phone). I have at least 2 "spare" MicroSD cards laying around.
I had a similar problem few weeks ago and I did format my 64gb card with GUIFORMAT on my win 7 PC and since then no more problem. Here is the link: http://www.realmodscene.com/index.php?/topic/323-gui-format-fat32-drive-formatter/
Thank you. I'll give it a shot right now.

You, sir, just won all my Internets. I don't know what it was about that app, but it worked like a champ the first time around. I don't get it either. I had used so many tools to get it to FAT32, but this one did the trick. I formatted the card, inserted it...was totally waiting for it to not work, and I noticed "Unmount SD Card". I read it and thought "hmmm, that's not right", lol. Then it dawned on me that it worked. Copying folders over to it now. Thanks so much, bud. I really owe you one.

Nice. I've heard that the native Windows formatting tool is not the best (although its always worked fine for me), so this might be one of those instances.

Thanks. I had the same problem with a brand new 128GB card with only this phone (HTC One E8 Dual). Until I found this. So far working like a charm. You ARE a star.

[Q] Lollipop SD Card problem

I was in ES file explorer trying to move files to my external sd card and all of the sudden I get an error saying task failed. I can't delete or copy anything to my external sd card now. It's a 64 gb Class 10 Sandisk Ultra micro sd card. I formatted it to Fat 32 a long time ago. I don't know what's going on. And now all of a sudden Root browser in Root Explorer doesn't work either. I can't write anything on my phone. I even reverted back to stock android to see if it was the rom problem and that wasn't it either. I'm completely lost in the dark now.
I'm running CM12 Beta on my G3 if that means anything.
Try getting into it via twrp I had a problem like that a while back and I tried twrp and it did work I ended up wiping via twrp. You can also try putting it in your computer and partitioning it. I my self repartitioned it and just deleted the current one and made a new one. It seems that some roms or apps ect can cause the software in the sd card to become corrupted also try mounting and unmounting it before you delete anything.
If you are rooted you need to download SDfix from the play store. It says kit kat but works with 5.0.X fine. SD write access is still limited in lollipop unless the app creator allows SD access. If you were on zv6 on a custom rom it was probably baked in.

Yeah I tried formatting it and everything. The micro sd card is stuck in read only mode. I think it's dead. I put the micro sd card back into my S4 and my S4 couldn't write to it either. I ran CHKDSK on command prompt and it said that there's a corrupt file on the mciro sd card but it can't repair it because the micro sd card is stuck in read only mode. I tried to format it usng the SDFormatter and nothing is working. I used google and people are saying that when a micro sd card goes into read only mode it means that it's about to die. :c sucks cause it was 64gb and I've only had it for a year.
I had 2 SanDisk 64GB cards go bad soon after I formatted them to FAT32. I don't know why, but it happened. SanDisk could not explain it, but they were really good about replacing the cards.

I would contact SanDisk about it but I got the SD card in October of 2013 from BestBuy as a birthday present and I don't have the original packaging or receipt so I don't have proof of purchase so I doubt I'd be able to get the micro sd card replaced.

Chat with SanDisk. IIRC, they didn't ask me for a receipt, just where and when the card was purchased. It has a lifetime warranty, they will replace it and will even send you a free shipping label.
I have the same problem, I was copying files to my external sd card from internal and all of a sudden it said "moving files failed" and then nothing on my sd card would show up, though on storage information it shows that it's mostly full. But all the files are unreachable until I reboot then everything is fine while I'm listening to music, but if I stop for a while or try to move anything it messes up again. Anyone know of a fix?
I'm on lollipop, but the sd fix app would not do anything for me... Running Danvdh's Google Play Edition Rom

sd ext 2 partition issues

Hello. I got a cheap Chinese tablet xgody on A-33 processor running 4.4.2 android.
I've rooted it using Kingo Root. All well so far.
I also bought a 32GB micro sd card with an usb adapter to use as external memory plus to move app data there.
I used this advice in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning and created a 30GB FAT32 partition and just over 1 GB ad-ext2 one. My tablet shows 30 something gb in external storage.
While using Link2SD I get asked to mount second partition of my SD card but no matter what option I choose It always says that it failed to create mount script type of thing.
Could anyone advice in what could be the root of my problem? Kind Regards
Oh blimey. That's a disappointing sight not to see anyone able to help
