I love this phone in every aspect but when making calls, they often drops. Also my 3g connection disapers and "no service" is showing in the status bar. Then of a sudden signal is back again. In the settings i tried prefer 3g 2g and 4g. I have flashed different roms (miui dev, cyanogen 12.1, and now miui 7.1 stable)
Also flashed different modem firmwares P18, P37,P50,P51 and get slightly different resultats but there is something wrong here. When going from flight mode to data on there takes around 20s before getting a signal. Same situation when rebooting the phone.
So, any idea what might causing this please....?

Coming from a HTC Desire, I bought a 6 month old Galaxy S II off a colleague.
I used to run CM7 on the Desire, and was happy with it. So I wanted to install it on the Galaxy as well.
Figuring out Odin and installing CWM was fairly easy, so I was set up with CM7 in no time.
The issue I have is that no matter what modem I use, I can't get a reliable cell signal out of my phone. I've tried some (10ish) different modems from this page.
All of them get 'emergency calls only' sometimes, and dBm values of -95 at best, sometimes going over -106 before dropping connection (emergency calls only).
Signal bars usually stay at 2/4.
If I have connection, I do seem to be able to max out my 3G connection (capped at 1Mbps by the operator) with some modems, but not all.
After restoring stock firmware, I get -77dBm and better, 4/4 signal bars most of the time.
Stock firmware uses XXKE7 modem.
When I tried to use that modem in CM7, I got the same bad results.
I am in Belgium on the Mobile Vikings carrier, which uses the BASE network.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem?

I'm not sure if you have to tinker with the phones APN settings there in Belgium. Sometimes that is the way to troubleshoot poor data connectivity.
Google "apn settings" and the name of your carrier and see what you can come up with.
Other than that I'd just suggest trying different modems. Hope that helps

It is the open source drivers CM based roms use. I see the same on every device I have run CM based roms on. The generic drivers have less radio and wifi signal strength. They don't use the built in hardware to the Max like OEM drivers do.

I would not advice this.
I did some searches on this and I can't find anything on this.
I've just noticed that my phone is stuck on 'H' signal, it can scale up to H+ as normal but as soon as the data has finished transmitting it will go back to 3G for a split second before returning to H and staying there. This has happened for a few days. I've noticed that my phone is getting unbearably hot (with a UV CPU and GPU, fully tested, stable) and my battery life is awful.
I've now gone back to a completely stock system, ODIN reflashed the GMK6 update (stock recovery, kernel, modem and ROM - ROM was always stock anyway) and the problem still persists.
I'm going to phone my network in the morning to see if they've done anything in the area or if anyone else is reporting the issue but has anyone else ever witnessed symptoms like this?
More background: I've recently tried ArchiPort 4.4 before going back to stock and I've been using the Devil2 kernel for more than 9 months. In the UK on the Three network, which is 3G only, no 2G.
Hi, My new Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 has network reception problems. Singal is weak, max 2 bars and it drops to zero randomly. 2G/3G got the same problem. Wifi is working fine. I have tried a new SIM card, factory reset, changing all settings but it didnt help. It looks hardware issue.. antennas are not working properly. How can i fix it? Any ideas? I can not find a tear down video for Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 anywhere online.

Which ROM are you currently running? I know that the DELIRIUM ROM has very good signal strength. Sometimes this varies between ROMs. Check your router as well with other devices to make sure it's your phone that is the problem. Try to test it with other phones as laptops usually have beefy WiFi antennas.
Hello,
I have installed several ROM since i received m'y lmx2.
And i play with several kernel and modem.
Some modem works better, more or less, but i use to have descent signal.
Yesterday, i try the India stock 19s cause i read good feedback about this ROM. But this ROM encrypts by defaut the phone and i notice bad data connection. So i did format data , and i perform a twrp restore of small eui.
This is when i have this weird issue :
I have 4g data, with pretty good signal (4/5 strengh) but the connection is very bad, no more than 20ko/s !!!!
I have two sim of different provider, and both have the same issue. Each show good LTE signal but the connexion is so bad
I try to reste apn, clean install several ROM ( small eui, cuoco, RR, AOSIP), whith several MoDem, but still have this connection problem.
I also test the data connection from different places...
I also fastboot erase modemst 1 and 2.
I also reset the apn.
And i eventually installed stock CN 23s ROM.
No success.
Well, i have no more idea. This problem starts since i installed the India 19s ROM.
It is the first time i meet this issue.
I dont think it is a hardware issue, cause the phone shows 4g or sometimes 3g signal depending where i am in my place, juste like before.
Fyi, The wifi works well.
Does anyone have an idea ? My phone is became unusable, cause i mainly use the phone when i am outside, with only data connection.
Thanks un advance for your help, i almost become crazy and desperate...:crying:
May be try changing the network type in *#*#4636#*#* service menu? first try it without 4g..
Thank you for answering,
I already try.
Actually, the phone show good LTE and 3g signal, but the real performance is very bad, like 2g connection. The download and browsing never go over 20 ko/s.
Really really weird. This morning, I go outside and I try the connection. Exactly the same problem, even from another antenna.
Hi there,
This issue is a weird one, but I also had it on my old OnePlus One.
So I travelled to London on Tuesday, and I noticed on the train ride that my signal kept dropping out, thats fairly common, as its fast moving and passes through signal black spots. The weird thing is, when I'd regain signal, it would show a full signal bar, and 4g logo, but had a cross next to it and said no internet access. If I rebooted my phone, it would then regain internet access again. I got the same issue just walking around London. Full signal bars, but no internet, and a reboot would bring back internet access. Airplane mode toggling didnt fix it. Im from the Midlands, so my theory is that maybe when my phone gets passed over from one signal mast to another, it causes an IP issue or something? I used to get the same issue when travelling up north too on my old phone.
Could this be an issue with Lineage or Lineage based OS's ? My OnePlus One did the same thing and that was running Lineage OS 14. On my Poco F1, im running crDroid which is Lineage OS based.
My only other theory is that maybe there is an issue with my SIM card? Im using the same SIM card which was in my One, in my Poco now.
The only common threads between the two phones is that they both have Lineage based OS's, and they are both using the same SIM card.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

You can confirm if it is related to LOS by flashing the stock ROM and checking.

have you tried setting radio to LTE/UMTS auto (PRL) ?
you have to do this every single time you boot your device.. set it for both radios, then disable radio and re-enable them / toggle flight mode on and then off..

I'll give that a go and see if it works. I didnt realise there were so many network modes to choose from. I have a lot of modes in preferred network type settings too, ive got it set to 'GSM/WCDMA/LTE' at the moment.
I do have a private DNS set too(cloudflare 1.1.1.1), could that be causing the issue maybe?
I'll see if there are additional settings I should have on according to my network provider.
EDIT: Just checked, and my APN settings were on the wrong network, could explain the issues.
set it to an option with PRL, do not use the in-device settings page, as it is not suitable for global use (rather china oriented). use the hidden menu as suggested above.
also it's always good to replace an old sim.
APN is very likely a cause as well, especially when roaming.
I have noticed this the signal does appear to have issues.
I had same problem when I had mi a2 lite I found the signal not so great but this phone you would expect to be better then that one.
I use two sims both on different networks which also use different bands well on sim1 others phones max signal on 2g/3g/4g but on this one it doesnt want to drop below 4g and the 4g signal is all over the place at times its two bars.
now on to the other sim this network around my home has always had poor 4g so with other phones it would drop to 2g/3g which i would then get 4 signal bars not on this phone again tries to stay on 4g with no siginal and if you select option to choose different preferred network the signal on 2g/3g is 1-2 bars only.
i tried let/umts pri on one of the sims made no difference.
I have tried this outside my home as well same thing it's only when i am really close to a mast will i get max bars for both.
Hi mates,
My mobile POCO F1 not showing any signal strength, I tried doing factory reset but no go same issue. Could some one please help me.
