Hi there,
This issue is a weird one, but I also had it on my old OnePlus One.
So I travelled to London on Tuesday, and I noticed on the train ride that my signal kept dropping out, thats fairly common, as its fast moving and passes through signal black spots. The weird thing is, when I'd regain signal, it would show a full signal bar, and 4g logo, but had a cross next to it and said no internet access. If I rebooted my phone, it would then regain internet access again. I got the same issue just walking around London. Full signal bars, but no internet, and a reboot would bring back internet access. Airplane mode toggling didnt fix it. Im from the Midlands, so my theory is that maybe when my phone gets passed over from one signal mast to another, it causes an IP issue or something? I used to get the same issue when travelling up north too on my old phone.
Could this be an issue with Lineage or Lineage based OS's ? My OnePlus One did the same thing and that was running Lineage OS 14. On my Poco F1, im running crDroid which is Lineage OS based.
My only other theory is that maybe there is an issue with my SIM card? Im using the same SIM card which was in my One, in my Poco now.
The only common threads between the two phones is that they both have Lineage based OS's, and they are both using the same SIM card.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

have you tried setting radio to LTE/UMTS auto (PRL) ?
you have to do this every single time you boot your device.. set it for both radios, then disable radio and re-enable them / toggle flight mode on and then off..

I'll give that a go and see if it works. I didnt realise there were so many network modes to choose from. I have a lot of modes in preferred network type settings too, ive got it set to 'GSM/WCDMA/LTE' at the moment.
I do have a private DNS set too(cloudflare 1.1.1.1), could that be causing the issue maybe?
I'll see if there are additional settings I should have on according to my network provider.
EDIT: Just checked, and my APN settings were on the wrong network, could explain the issues.
set it to an option with PRL, do not use the in-device settings page, as it is not suitable for global use (rather china oriented). use the hidden menu as suggested above.
also it's always good to replace an old sim.
APN is very likely a cause as well, especially when roaming.
I have noticed this the signal does appear to have issues.
I had same problem when I had mi a2 lite I found the signal not so great but this phone you would expect to be better then that one.
I use two sims both on different networks which also use different bands well on sim1 others phones max signal on 2g/3g/4g but on this one it doesnt want to drop below 4g and the 4g signal is all over the place at times its two bars.
now on to the other sim this network around my home has always had poor 4g so with other phones it would drop to 2g/3g which i would then get 4 signal bars not on this phone again tries to stay on 4g with no siginal and if you select option to choose different preferred network the signal on 2g/3g is 1-2 bars only.
i tried let/umts pri on one of the sims made no difference.
I have tried this outside my home as well same thing it's only when i am really close to a mast will i get max bars for both.
Hi mates,
My mobile POCO F1 not showing any signal strength, I tried doing factory reset but no go same issue. Could some one please help me.

Ever since Verizon network went down a few days ago I can't get a solid connection whenever I download anything. Browser seems to load fine. I try downloading several apps from the market but cannot complete the download due to lost connectioime. It will just stop at any time during The download. Same with files. I dont think is the rom. I'm on cm7 pre-release. Flash back to Tesla but still have the issue. Is anyone else have this issue?

You go into the phone dialer and input *#*#4636#*#*, choose phone information. LTE mode for only 4G, CDMA auto (PRL) for only 3G. You can change it back to normal by using CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto.
I've been having the same exact problem.

Just installed the latest radio and is still having the same issue. I hope is the network then since you're having the same problem too.
I have das bamf remix 1.5 on my phone and I've been having very slow downloads lately when it says I have a full signal.... Tried both modes as mentioned above and problem persists. Can't even load a whole you tube vid. WTF
New radio problems
I had similair issues, and I went back to stock 605.6 radio and a simple debloat rom and it fixed my issues, I am also set to CDMA(PRL) as I'm in a 3G only area
on the new radio my 3G connection was unstable and my GPS wouldn't lock
all of this only occurred after the verizon network went down and came back up.
before that I was having my problem with the new radio. I'm waiting on 605.6 until Verizon officially updates the radio, because I think they changed something that is currently only working with the old radio, the only one they have to support at this time, just my conjecture of course, but I've tried it a few times going between an old radio/old rom and new radio/new rom and it's consistant
Having the same issues. Tried all the radios, but downloading from the market place still goes at a snails place. Like everyone else this started after the lte network went down and came back up.

Alright, I just got off the phone with them and they fixed my problem in less then 5 minutes. The problem was caused when the network went down, and when it came back up, some of the thunderbolts would not connect correctly causing the connection issues. When I called customer service the woman brought a tech guy on the phone and he had me take the battery out of the phone WHILE IT WAS POWERED UP and then take the SIM card out and he did some kind of "network reset" to my SIM card and now all the issues are gone. Worth giving them a call and seeing if this fixes your problem. IMO VZW has the best customer service hands down, they are always so helpful and will make conversation with you during the luls while on the phone (IE when your phone is booting up).

I've been hiving this strange issue for a couple of months now.
Hi,
I own an Optimus one Currently running on Froyo Final + franco v19 set at 729/480, smartass. (None of this matters now) Anyway...
Whenever I'm home, the signal is in full strength. However, when I travel, or am at a different destination, there is a constant signal loss.
Signal bar will be at 100% and then suddenly it'll drop to emergency mode and then start hunting for signal. This happens very frequently and drains my battery.
At first I thought this was a rom issue and so I reinstalled everything from scratch (no titanium restores) only to find out that the problem cropped up again.
I switched back to my stock froyo rom which I'd backed up some 4 months ago and the problem didn't seem to go away!
So the only 2 suspects now left are the phone itself, and the sim card.
What am I supposed to do now? Has anyone else experienced such a problem?

Sounds like the phone fails to switch between BTSes properly depending on signal strength, not to mention the failed signal display. RMA it. (Either way, we would not fix your faulty SIM either). Talk to the guys who sold you the phone.

I suspected that too. But the thing is, it was all ok a couple of months before. So its really hard to tell whether its the sim fault or the phone fault. I think I'll talk to the vodafone people first and see if they're able to assist. If not, then rma it is
I would like to know if it was resolved. My wife has the LG P500 model and it drops signal when not at home. LG some how is ignoring our complaints, I've gone for a new sim, but no luck. I'm on the official stock 2.3.3
Edit:
Updated from v20b to v20c, hoping it fixes the issue.

Alternatively you can go to dialer and press on *#*#4636#*#* and go to phone infomation and scroll down and click on gsm auto prl. Default i think is wcdma preferred which is 3G only while GSM Auto uses 2G when 3G is unavailable

Hi All,
I am having a strange problem with my S2 since last few months. I am from Mumbai, India and using Airtel network. There is a spot in my apartment which has very poor network reception of Airtel and I face issues whenever my cell is in that spot for a while. It happens that whenever I take my cell in that area, it starts losing signal bars till no bars are highlighted on the status bar at the top. It keeps showing zero bars but does not show "no signal" icon. Then, after keeping my cell in that spot for a while when I bring it in a better connectivity spot, signal bars start increasing and it appears that my cell has better reception again. However, if anyone tries to call me or I try to call anyone, they get "Out of coverage area" message or I get "Network registration failed" message respectively. I am having this problem since the day I started using Airtel and have tried a lot of remedies but only thing that works is rebooting my cell. I have tried using OpenSignal app to reset my connection whenever my cell comes back from the spot but even that fails to revive it and ultimately I have to reboot.
Has anyone faced such an issue and any ideas about a fix? Does it look like an issue with my cell or could it be an issue with my network provider? I would prefer not to root my S2 since I have 3 years warranty on it but if you think that it's the only way out of this, please let me know your opinion.
Thanks.
Sounds like a carrier issue to me. You pretty much said exactly that yourself when you said 'There is a spot in my apartment which has very poor network reception of Airtel and I face issues whenever my cell is in that spot for a while'.
That's normal in many buildings. Particularly if the network coverage in your area is borderline or poor. I have a similar issue in my house, in a few rooms I get no bars & sometimes coverage drops out completely, whereas in my loungeroom/dining/kitchen at the back of the house I get good coverage (for me, anyways).
You could try different modems, which might improve things. You don't have to be rooted to flash these, you can flash them using Odin. Tho it is easier to flash them with CWM if you're rooted.
I use to had the same issue with my 3 carrier at my desk in the office, and still on 2g services. I but since last month they already improved to hsdpa network added more bts and now my blank spot became H.
Yes you may try to change other service providers

Thanks for your suggestions guys. Yes, it might be only related to the carrier. But, I think that if signal goes down to zero and then when my cell is back in better coverage zone, shouldn't the modem take care of network registration by itself? My problem is that it doesn't. I have to reboot my cell every time after I come to know that my cell is showing signal bars but is not actually registered on the network. If I reboot my cell, everything becomes normal and so if it was just an issue with the carrier, shouldn't it continue like that even after reboot? If I think about it logically, I think following should help me out:
1. Try out a different cell for a few days and see if I face this issue or not.
2. If answer to 1 is no, then try out different modems on my S2 and see if that helps.
Actually, I just wanted to check if anyone else has faced this issue and figured out that something is not right with S2 drivers or something? That would help me with quick resolution of my problem.

Yep, your logic is sound ;-)
One thing tho. With regard to trying your sim out in another phone, you have to keep in mind the radio hardware is obviously different in different phones. And what that means is (and this is something I've observed on XDA), chances are you'll find the sim works perfectly in the other phone & you have no issues at all. This might be due to the actual equipment your carrier is using in the cell tower(s) you're close to, also the frequencies that gear is using might also be playing a part in your problems.
So definitely try it out in another phone & see what happens, but you could do worse than try out a bunch of modems in the S2 & see if that improves things.

Those are carrier issues, and maybe even the material of the constructions, in my house there are rooms where there's almost no signal at all, and in the living room it's ok, you should try to see in which tower you are connected maybe thats the problem
I have also had these problems on various networks here in Australia. If you don't need the data network, you could try using 2G only option. But that's not really a fix, is it? I suggest you try a pre-paid SIM from another network provider, to test them out first, before re-contracting.
Good luck. :fingers-crossed:

Yes, I was also thinking about it. It could be the combo of cell tower and S2 that are not liking each other that well.. And, if that's the case, I really hope that the issue can be resolved by switching modem drivers. I will have to do some what-ifings to nail this down now.
I like the other suggestion by HotrodHarry on trying out 2G only option - not the best way out but will help me in zeroing down on the cause.
I'm experiencing an odd issue on the SD RedMi Note 4 of my wife (ROM: v8.5.8.0 NCFMIED): where LTE signal is weak and other mobiles switch to GSM (2G) and are still reachable, the RedMi of my wife is still trying to get LTE signal, ending up offline for _long_ times.
I tried to switch preferred mode to "LTE/UMTS auto (PRL)" (mido default choice when "prefer LTE" is selected is "LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS", which appears to include the Chinese 3G standard too) like my OnePlus 3, which never looses network, but it didn't help: the only way to have it reliably reachable is switching to "GSM only".
I didn't find anything relevant neither by searching nor by browsing the first 30 pages of this subforum: is there anything we can do to improve this? Thanks!

That indeed solves the issue as I wrote, but I don't think that my wife would be happy if I tell her she has to check the signal all the time and, eventually, _try_ to manually switch to "GSM only", and go back when the signal strength improves... that should be modem job!
Update: the affected SIM was in slot 2; moving the SIM to the first slot seems to improve the mode switch. Still the sensitivity doesn't seem exceptional, or perhaps there is some other issue (1), but at least it seems to correctly switch from 4G to 3G and even 2G where the signal is weak.
Testing in "LTE/UMTS auto (PRL)" mode now (I don't need TD-SCDMA here, I assume there is less overhead with less modes); wondering whether is a modem (read: Qualcomm) issue or a MIUI bug.
(1) sometimes the device still looses the network where my OP3 seems connected with very weak signal (-105 dBm) and LTE Discover reports "Potential eCSFB issue detected" (which sounds odd since eCFSB is a CDMA thing, and there aren't any CDMA network here in Italy AFAIK: could it be the way LTE Discover tells that the phone is unable to handshake an existing network?), until it reconnects. Moreover, it seems that RN4 tends to prefer 3G over 2G even when mobile data is off, which is not a good strategy IMO.
Edit: LTE Discover reports "Potential eCSFB issue detected" also on OP3, which works perfectly: it seems its shown when the terminal was unable to successfully register on a network and stays idle until the next connection attempt
I have sort of similar and opposite problems in the USA.
Mine switches from LTE to whatever H+ is and then never switches back on its own. I'm blaming Xiaomi over Qualcomm.

I tried it, it worked if I used the root option and manually hit the refresh button. I read that the auto refresh only works if the signal is one bar or whatever or less.
My signal is strong when it's on H+, so it would never get low enough to make it auto refresh.
What I need is something that would switch my preferred network to Prefer 3G and back to Prefer LTE whenever I'm on H+ for a while, because that gets me back on LTE every time provided that there's LTE in that area.
My Redmi Note 4x international should be capable to connect to the 1800mhz band, which is available in my neighborhood. Sadly I haven't had 4g or LTE since I've gotten this phone (4 weeks) any ideas why it won't connect?

Yep, that's very same issue I'm experiencing. I was feeling alone: in the MI forums I couldn't find no one complaining about that.
Did you notice that when the device connects to a Wi-Fi network the cellular signal indicator suddenly rises (it appears to indicate Wi-Fi signal strength) and appears "4G" next to operator's name, even if cellular data is off?
Too bad, if RN4 didn't have such a bugged radio it was a real bang for the buck.

Try to get some more info from the "LTE Discovery" app: is the device registered on the 4G network but internet access is absent or the device doesn't even register on the 4G network? Does the device detect the 4G signals?
In this thread we are discussing about the opposite problem: our devices don't switch to 2G when the signal is weak...

Unfortunately it didn't help: it doesn't seem to improve overall operation. It even asks to refresh the Wi-Fi connection when there is no cellular signal...
There is really something ill in this modem. Sometimes the signal indicator shows Wi-Fi signal strength instead of cellular. I hope some future release will fix at least some of these issues.

Thank you. I think it's not necessary: since yesterday I'm running MIUI v9.0.3.0 and things improved considerably. I'm quite sure the issue was MIUI 8 which had a complete modem mess, not the app, that was doing its honest work just as it was possible.
I'm using the Nokia 7.1 in the USA with T-Mobile. Things had been working great until the OTA update to version 9 happened a few days ago.
Now, the phone is extremely picky about its cellular connection. I'll have almost full bars in my house, and then nothing as I walk around. At work, I had no service until I walked a half-mile to the T-Mobile store - then I had a good signal.
Experimenting with the basic mobile/wifi settings hasn't helped (enhanced 4G - LTE, Auto wifi connection, etc).
Is anyone else experiencing this? Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks!
Not that I have experience. I have TMO as well and signal both indoors and outside seem normal. Granted, I got the phone and immediately updated to pie so I don't have a reference before updating to pie. Did you try a network reset to see if that corrects your issue?

While I was capturing these, the signal went in and out. And, I'm within 30 feet of a 4G signal booster that I received today from T-Mobile.
I'll have to try resetting the phone and ignoring the Pie update if I can't get this fixed.

How old is your sim from TMobile? Maybe a new one might help.

It's a brand new SIM (picked it up when I got the phone). Also, the problem seems very reproducible (where I lose connectivity) so I don't think the SIM is loose or has a bad connection.
But, the phone refuses to join the TMobile network (and won't even roam). Oddly, I'll often see the 'emergency calls only' message.
Things seemed to be working fine with Oreo, and then got bad with Pie.
If I do a factory reset, I'll just get a clean Pie installation now (as I understand).
Is there a [easy] way to reset and downgrade to how it shipped?
