My little sister has been using SGS2 (GT-I9100) For about 1,5 years now after I got myself an S5 so the phone is couple years old. Yesterday the phone started holding battery very poorly (see image below). I tried another batterry, factory resetting and dusting internals, no change. The phone seems to overheat at the left edge the most. Any tips?

You should try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/themes-apps/app-fuelgaugetool-v2-0-t2262990 the phone must be rooted (if you need help with that MP me) then flash a custom rom , I recommend Revolution Rom as it is stock based great battery life, good performance, and its like an updated touchwiz version so it will look better

edit : How old its the battery ??

Hi there,
I received my galaxy note with an ICS LQ3 rom, it also came with the emmc bug. Being happy with ICS i hadn't intended to flash the rom . The thing that bothered me the most was not the emmc bug but the very short battery life (barely one day of a little above average use) when the phone was supposed to have a better battery life. After searching on the web, it appears that the cause was ICS itself. I switched to GB and now the phone last for a little more than 2 days.
Any news of a "patch" for ICS or an ICS rom that correct this problem (and that does not have the emmc bug ) ?
Hello all,
I have a question for you all:
I have flashed a new rom today and have decided to NOT activate Google Now, and (after a few hours only), I seem to see a much better battery use?
Is it possible that this app, being monitoring so much all the time hoggs the battery quite a lot?
So, placebo effect or not?
Certainly possible I suppose, but I haven't noticed it drawing a significant amount of juice on my S3 or my Note 2.
I've had Now running in the background on my Note 2 for over 9 hours and the battery is still at 92% (minimal usage, just on WiFi), and while I'm getting tired of being notified about the ManU match, it doesn't seem to be drawing an inordinate about of power to run.
Is the new ROM you flashed using a different kernel or a newer revision of your previous kernel? In my experience, that's been the biggest factor in terms of power consumption.

Well, I am using temasek's CM10 Kang (70 I believe, latest anyway)
and with the kernel that came with it.
I ve tried other AOSP kernel, but no boot at all, so...
What I think is that XXDLIB modem does has a noticeable effect on good reception over here, so maybe that s the factor here?
Self explanatory really, I much prefer having stock android on my s3 but the battery is much worse compared to roms running on a Samsung base.
I would like to know if this happens to everyone and the reason behind it since I've read the "nexus edition" S4 actually has better battery results than the Samsung variant.
Many thanks

Samsung includes a lot of battery saving technology in their roms but it is closed source so developers cannot access it.
I run a custom Samsung ROM and an AOSP - battery isn't noticeably different. I also use Greenify and I turn off auto brightness (run it about 50%) & blocki9ng mode. Overnight I see my battery drop by between 3% & 5%. 15 hours of normal use sees maybe 30 - 45% battery depending on how much game versus phone/SMS.
Best battery so far is 54 hours and at 28% - I was in Melbourne via train and forgot my charger. I know it is the TYPE of use that matters but I was making/receiving calls and spent about 45 mins as hotspot to the wife's laptop.
I run GoogyMax, v6.1 Purelook HD ROM and SlimBean ROM v 7. Haven't found anything not working, haven't got FC's.
Both ROM's installed on full wipe.
Question for anyone using non-TW roms, how do you find battery life compared to TW roms?
I had to use Hyperdrive for a week or so for ISIS, and was surprised at the difference in battery life compared to the GPE rom. It seemed to last about twice as long. Switched to SlimKat and get about the same on it as on the GPE. I use Greenify, battery graphs are smooth, main difference looks like Android OS/System showing a higher percent.
Used KT's kernel with all of the above.
I'm expecting to be able to go at least 4-7 days without charging if I don't use it much, which was definitely possible on a stock TW-MK2 S4 and this one with Hyperdrive. This site says the S4 should be able to get 13-20 days standby time, has anyone ever actually gotten that?
Problem is, really can't stand TouchWiz.
TL;DR - Question: How long is your battery life on non-TW roms vs TW roms? Which non-TW rom have you found to be best for battery life?
Edit:
Meant to link "this site" to http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Samsung-Galaxy-S4_id7597
Not for me
I always had horrendous battery life with the kitkat ROMs I used back in fall of last year. Dead by 5 pm and now I get until about 1 am with my Moto X. That's pretty impressive though
I'm currently runnish Hyper drive and I get great battery life. will take off the charger at 9 am and will last till I get home at 3 am the next day. with the stock rom though it was terrible haven't tried running another rom on this s4 yet.
hello everyone,
i have a galaxy s3 i9300 with android 4.3 installed.i noticed that the battery suddenly drains faster than before.i bought a new original battery and the phone was fine for a while and than the drainage began again.i replaced it with a another new one and that didn't help either.i would appreciate your help.going half crazy.i did not notice some app that woud cause the drain.suggestions??
@zoro863: means 'original battery' from Samsung? Amazon fe offers many of these, all called and look original, for ~15€, but they are badder.
it is an original one i bought from a respected shop
@zoro863: there's written very much about battery-items. To decide, if your drain is caused by hard- or software, I advice to flash NCSROM (hardly debloated actual firmware, which I always use as reference): use it with governor zzmoove /battery plus whithout any apps added, for 2d. Expect SOT~6h. If less, it's hardware caused.
