[HELP] How to fix RIL and THEMES APP in MIUI 7? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys! I have ported MIUI 7 for my device Xperia M. Took base as CM11 and ported. It boots up and everything works fine. All the apps. But there is a continuous FC com.android.phone has stopped. And com.themes.activity has stopped. I disabled FC messages from dev options to try out other things and all other apps work fine.
The list of non working things:
1. Messaging App (RIL problem)
2. Phone app (RIL problem)
3. Contacts app (Again RIL)
4. Themes app. (No idea why)
I am most probably missing telephony files or something but I don't know so please help me guys.
The logcat link is : pastebin.com/buLzqyZH

Too many dalvikvm errors..Refer to the earlier pages of this thread and add build.prop lines at the end..Also replace /system/bin/app_process with port rom.
This answer was given by STRYDER~007 so can you look into it? I don't know coding... He said to look into earlier pages of this thread

FC on the dialer after auto voicerec & WLOD browser [MIUI 1.11.18]

Why is FC, after undertaking a call, if enabled auto record conversations?
And in build 1.11.18 is a bug. The browser also FC. I upgraded from 1.11.11 to 11.01.18 and these problems are not solved.
I think these problems are not a native version, but somewhere in our main firmware? Or MI developers do not pay attention to this problem? I would like to discuss this situation.
I understand that all these problems can be solved by the substitution of old files, but it can be to find a solution yourself?

- 1. use phone.apk from my 1.11.11 - i modified it to work with the new version .
( resources & some other files changed )
- 2. browser issue is libwebcore related , can't get a workaround for it .
so we use a very long method ( changing to old files alone won't work - we'll need [cob's magic] framework.jar to get the browser fully work - Otherwise using dual touch zooming will cause FC)
Finally - These are old matters / if you have browse through our threads ( mine & cob's ) you'll be familiar with these issues & solutions for that . So i think this is a waste of a thread in dev section .
I understand that there are solutions and I know about them, but you want to say that on the officially supported devices, these beta builds are working without problems?

yep . they are working fine in those devises . that's the issue
Miui will be much harder to port soon or we'll need very very good devs , which we lacks at the moment . only few remain with x10 , most have moved to SGSII .
You keep your search going on it'll be a big win if we find a working libwebcore with latest browser
so thats why Opera mobile browser can't work properly ?

If missed someone sorry
Any help, suggestions apriecated as Im beginner. I will be trying to update this rom every week.
Sources soon, for now dont have much time. Just want to fix all bugs.
Coming next build:
- Fix missed camera app
- Fix pin code layout ( waiting what sandy will tell me )
- Fix message landscape mode
- Add supercharger - WIP
- Add xloud and bravia engine from pimpmyrom app.
- Maybe more will see how much time will have. Any sugestions welcome
For other mdpi active, mini, mini pro try to use this patch:
Thanks to autor of this zip files. It worked with clear aosp so should work with miui based on it
Great! Thanked!
Will try your Rom asap. Queued for download.
Suggestions v6 supercharger. Liquid smooth. Xloud??? Bravia???
Xloud from pimpmyrom works. But after clearing recent items it stops working until next reboot!
Perhaps replace lbe with superuser?
And brightness to 5% . That way we can save more juice.
I'm a junior member bcoz I got here late
Sent from my lww wt19i using XDA app
yup xloud, bravia from pimpmyrom not a big problem. Will add this.
v6 supercharger also will look into it.
Replacing lbe guard? Need to think. There is after installing supersu because forget to delete this. Try to delete lbe in system/app and check if supersu app is giving permissions. Btw want to keep this as clean miui as possible. Try today and probably will give new update today evening.
Tomorrow at first will try to fix all remaining bugs. Then will start adding some new stuff.
I saw that there is autopatcher for supercharger. But im looking for files to add as I have unpacked frameworks and other stuff.
This is soo interesting.. could u include gandhar camera w/o panorama?
Then i think use dpi 140 if its solve many layout issue in miui is ok, just please fix one issue u mentioned before and its cool..
Just an idea, if u want to use aosp as base, pls remove unusable miui apps, and stay close to what aosp is in terms to stay close at aosp performance also..
Thanks mate, will download this ROM after v2 released..
gandhar camera is for 4.1.2 also?? I was thinking that only for 4.2.2 And as I know it didnt work with aosp. Will check it.
And sorry but not going do delete miui apps. It is miui and it will stay miui. I choosed aosp base only of best compatibility as miui sources are for aosp not cm10.
140 dpi fix only 4x5 home layout bug. But sandy fixed it in 160dpi so need to try to fix this in normal dpi.
And yes going to fix most minor bugs today before next update. And fix all bugs before next week update.
I have tested his cam in aosp 4.2 but cant work, dont know on aosp 4.1.
Or maybe use original miui 4.1 cam but just remove panorama and other useless opt?
Btw mate, in my opinion, u could fix major bugs 1st before releasing so ppl dont have to download twice.. i prefer u update every major bug fixes, except if the ROM has nearly perfect, u just need to solve minor bugs to make this ROM bugfree like extended cm10 by m66b..
Yup thats why I wrote what bugs are. I tested it a lot myself just write every bug here. Now updates will be every week if have time and no update between this. I just wanted to share and see if people want this. If not any interested I would delete thread and move only to my country website. Everyone know what are downloading and installing. I just want to tell me all found bugs to fix them and any help with this or suggestions.
There is no miuipolska camera in xiaomi sources. Btw miui camera is only for miui devices

Surely u got 1 fans here hhehee..
But u know updating too often like what fxp do in their nightly build in my opinion is not efficient unless there are majorr bugfixes there..
Ok will say once and we need to stop offtopic.
So most hard work was to patch base rom for miui. As I did it and there is not update of 4.1 aosp in plans I will have base for long time as sources on my pc. After in 2 weeks will fix most or all bugs not only this major I will be only giving updates for miui apps and a little of code.
Btw Im waiting for call about job so soon will have possibility only to use netbook which dont run 64 bit system which I need for it. So probably will go to some build server where will be hard to make anything, So will be there only updating miui apps. Then updates will 2 weeks or something.
So I think I explained everything and please we need stop talking about non topic things.
Thanks
@lsander nice work man....new they can taste AOSP MIUI..
well i have got the fix for these things , ill pm u how to fix them ok
- Fix lockscreen layout
- Fix pin code layout ( waiting what sandy will tell me )
- Fix message landscape mode
One important request. Please make use of walkman button in lww. The miui music player is good enough. Perhaps use sandys latest version. It's nearly complete
I'm a junior member bcoz I got here late

@lsander . i have pm'ed u the fix , if u have any problems solving or need more fixes just ask me
GOOD JOB!
Glad to see you doing it
Waiting for a stable enough MINI Pro ROM to test.
Keep it going and I encourage you to keep this ROM as pure MIUI as possible.
I installed it
it was fast and smooth. but still some layout problems
what about update?
My priority is the battery life. try to make it better
yup will try with battery. About update. I have all new sources, had some problems but sandy helped me, now have fixed pin layout ( thanks to sandy ), lockscreen, home 4x5 layout, added some tweaks in build.prop and init.d, fixed missed camera.
no supercharger at now.
Anyway update should be yesterday but a little late as tying to implement all into sources but have little problems with stupid miui-framework.
As I said now building new version. Will try how it works and maybe fix more or something or upload will see Last term will be tomorrow for update.
But please next time dont ask for ETA as Im beginner and dont want to promise you any terms.
There is something wrong with miui sources. Builded it from aground but dont want to boot on any kernel. Now disabling all changes made by me in rom and trying again. I feel that will have heavy night today.
Subscribed
hey gus sorry but there wont be any update until next week.
It looks like something is wrong with miui sourcs. Im trying everything, I builded rom thousand of times but noothing help. Changing kernels, deleting modifications, even downloading all again from miui github. Have no idea. Only one think now I can work on previous update to make it more stable.
Next week will download new sources any will try again to build. Really sory for this.

[Q] Error - Cannot xposed/modules.whitelist with Padawan JB V2 || 4.1.2| 5|31

I have tried several JB ROMS(Padawan,JellyBeer and decide to settle with "|ROM||AROMA|| Padawan JB V2 || PIE || Per App DPI ||4.1.2| 5|31".
- with S Note/Calendar and other additional tweaks that I like.
But these are few question and issue I like to get some help.
Q1. Error after I uninstall app "cannot read /data/xposed/modules.whitelist"
I already found another topic thread(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2169638)
but still could find the clear solution to remove this error.
Yes, this is my third/forth flashing to make sure everything to avoid bad flashing situation and wait 15 min with stopwatch level!
Does anyone know the fix on specifically for this ROM?
I only found "i solved it by installing xposed framework from the rom's settings."
=> How do I run/use/apply this?
Q2. Camera App
While I am installing ROM, I did select "4.2Camera" module.
I was expecting the 4.2 JB style camera (w/ lots of new options.). But it seems like NOT the newest version.
(My factor to the new version things are different option buttons and layout along with function(like burst shooting, timer shooting) with
kind the "O" ring option dial. I do not see anything on my camera app.
Did I do something wrong? or Is there any solution to load new version of camera app?
It would be great if I just could fix/update these two keep 4.1 JB version
Q3. Very Minor - want to change boot/exit animation.
Any easy solution to suggest?
Thank you for all support from everybody in advance.
Issue 1 & 3 Solved. Still need help on Camera App!

SOME WORK DONE
=> by using Bootanimation4U.zip for Boot Animation
=> by using shutdown.qmg for shutdown/exit Animation
I still need help on Camera App. Can someone help me?
Thank you~!

A1 The answer in the thread you provided was "Originally Posted by aztr0 Go to Settings, Interface, Install Xposed DPI Installer. That is all."
xposed is a separate framework that runs on a low level. There should be a lil green android guy with "xposed installer" in your applications. Open it and press "install/Update"
A2 If you're on a 4.1.2 version you won't be able to get the 4.2.2 camera. There's 3rd party apps like JB Camera or Snap Camera available for purchase though. JamieD also posted this Google Edition Camera recently. It might be the one you enabled though.
A3 Here ishttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340301
Here is a few more ways!!!
Boot animations aren't that difficult to change. I haven't seen anything about exit animations though.

Hi, sorry for bumping old thread. I am currently facing the same problem, tried enabling a module (app setting) in xposed and this message pops-out ("cannot read /data/xposed/modules.whitelist")
I tried unistalling XPosed by clicking the Uninstall(restore app process) button and reinstalling it back and the performed a reboot. Still no success...
By the way I am running on android 4.3, with xposed framework version 2.2 and rooted using chainfire SuperSU 6.5...
Any help is much appreciated.
EDIT [SOLVED]:
Problem was caused because of SELinux. Upgraded my Xposed Framework to 2.3 (beta) and module can now be enabled again!

Let me have a guess...
Android v 4.2.2
Based on Xperia v2 ROM ( from the A919 Tool app icon and the normal nav bar icons in screenshot no. 2, and also the background in screenshot no. 1 where a message is seen saying that " Actually I was bored with Xperia v2 ROM so I made this ROM. " )
Changed Framework apk and systemui apk
Added Samsung Apps like the launcher and calendar, etc.
Updated GmsCore.apk (or Google Play Services to be simple)
Did not edit and/or change the data folder
Followed any MTK porting guide
Did a quick port today ( from the date and time in the screenshots )
Better RAM management -- Tweaked minfree values would be my guess
Did not change the Flashlight app (TinnoLED.apk)
Brighter Flashlight -- Not as easy as he hoped. He would need some redirection of app processing power to the flashlight app to increase its importance, and thereby increase the flashlight brightness. I'm guessing he hasn't done that, so you'd better remove that line.
Did not change the default time zone in build.prop settings (It is set to phillipines time. )
Neat. Good attempt.
Bugs :
Transparent Status Bar
From the screenshots, it is apparent that the Status Bar isn't transparent. You mean that the background of the Notifications panel is transparent. Status Bar transparency refers to the status bar having the colour of the app's upper part. Like in the first screenshot, the status bar (the part with the battery charging info, network signal info, clock, etc.) should have the colour of the app. (like its background should have whatsapp's green colour while running whatsapp)
But, that is more of a misconception than a bug.
Here is a bug which he cannot fix.
3g support on both SIMs.
For that, you need hardware support. It is wrongly mentioned in the Xperia ROM v2 too. I have tried and tested that in almost all other ROMs like MIUI v5, Xperia ROM v2, Stock ROM, etc. and it all comes down to the same thing. YOU NEED HARDWARE SUPPORT FOR 3G IN BOTH SIMS.
A piece of advice : Do not bet that there won't be an bugs at all. Each and every ROM might have a bug that the developer might have overlooked.
Here are some things your friend might have done or should do if he hasn't done yet.
Changing the build.prop setting of ro.product.**** to that of Karbonn's from MyPhone Agua Cyclone ( Xperia ROM v2 was built on that phone's ROM )
Add Material Design Apps from Apkmirror like Gmail 5.0, Maps, etc.
Try porting Kitkat ROMs to Jelly Bean based devices by modifying the installation procedure to include the priv-app folder
Try porting CyanogenMod to this device
Help me in porting Carbon ROM and/or CyanogenMod 12 to this device.
Mention how he got the updater script to work properly and install the ROM perfectly in TWRP and Philz Recovery
Sign the ROM using ZipSigner app and then upload it.
Add more features to it
Here are a few suggestions :
Update the version of SuperSU and then install it.
Make the Xposed Framework built-in. ( Not to be installed manually after installing the ROM )
Pre-install GravityBox or XBlast tools.
Odex the apps folder for better RAM usage
Increase the wifi supplicant scan interval
Throw in some paid apps for free.
Increase the net buffer size
Add the X-Reality engine
ZipAlign all apks.
Add some more fonts ( other than Choco cookie )
Add more sounds for ringtones, audio, etc.
Mention all these to him, and if possible, ask him whether he could help me to develop other ROMs for this device.
BRO thanks for your opinions and thought

See i ported this Material L for unite 2 (a106) for our s5+ it was ported successfully and also booted up i used it for More than 3 days not found any other bug except Camera and flashlight..I changed some of its Lib files With Stock and also changed its gallery to stock and tried many other methods but still the cam bug didnt fixed..Else everything working really good.whenever i opens the cam it says unfortunately camera has stopped else everything works at its best...
Yeah, I just thought I should type out my thoughts about the ROM and then wait and see your reply. Sorry for that, though.
---------- Post added at 11:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:06 PM ----------
You used some MTK porting guide, didn't you ?
Another thing, what do you mean by Material L ? Do you mean to say that you have ported an Android L ROM to this phone ?
I think you have just ported some ROM with just the Material Design UI, as seen in the screenshots (They do not have the Android L Navigation Bar Buttons. )
You could try replacing the permissions in that, as most likely, that would be the root cause of many such errors. A permission file related to the camera settings could be improperly coded, and/or might have a bad file, either corrupt or something like that.
I just needed this tiny favour from you of creating a proper, working update-binary and updater-script inside a META-INF folder which can be used for all my ROMs. If that is over, you'll be seeing those ROMs on XDA quite soon.
Another thing. In the CyanogenMod 12 Lollipop ROM which I am porting, the apps folder has individual folders for each app. So, the flashlight app is in system/app/flashlight/flashlight.apk . Could that be the cause of the ROM not installing properly ? I'm going mad over that as that was the first time I have seen any ROM with apps grouped like that.
Thanks in advance for your contribution.
tnx for posting.. try to port this rom..we r same spec of ur device..

Sent from my MyPhone Agua Cyclone using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

MIUI native firewall for blocking system apps WiFi access.

Hello there.
First of all I am not a developer or modder like many of you here in XDA. Though I like to mess with my phone to make it work the way it should. I am posting this thread asking for help.
Currently I am trying to get the native firewall in MIUI 8 to block system apps from using WiFi, without success.
I am following the instructions posted by a developer in MIUI forum to modify Security app: link http://en.miui.com/thread-531515-1-1.html (original developer Nicolas72)
There are some minor differences between the code in the original thread and the ones I am working with (due to different versions of the apk), but in general it's the same method. However, bootloop are the only results I got.
Steps I followed:
Deodex app, decompile, make changes to the smali code, recompile and put the apk back to the phone (set permissions, delete corresponding odex file and reboot the phone. And bootloop.
My phone Kenzo is currently running stock MIUI 8.2.4.0 Global Stable, Official unlock.
Can anyone help me to get this done?
Thank you in advance.
Sorry for my broken English
Seem like there is no one using stock MIUI here.
Restrict wifi usage for system apps on MiUi 9 or above.
Were you able to find any solution or work around?
