Hey all, let me just start by saying that I have searched, read, tried so much already, with so much information (specially from here) to apply a swap partition to increase ram on my phone.
Ill start from the beggining..
Phone rooted, I tried ram expander app, was a bit dissapointed because of the constant internet connection needed and the fact that after some time, my notification for ram expander (saying total memory:2048 for example) would dissapear and eventually my game crash. Maybe the swap file stopped working for some reason. Doesnt matter..
Now I am trying to set a swap partition on the phone and as far as I have been able to, this has been the only method that I have already noticed some difference.
So i started with this link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1934360
And up to this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1422061
And this last one is where I am currently at..
I have, once again, rooted phone, busybox installed, root explorer installed, terminal emulator installed.^
I have partitioned my micro sd card, that is class 10 HC1 45mb/s (Kingston) with a normal primary partition, fat32 (just like on the links, leaving space basically for 2048mb for swap partition) I created a second Linux swap partition with the leftover space (2048mb).
I havent understand fully if 2gb swap partition is too much or if I can just have 1gb (which is shame cause ram expander could go for 4gb, if it wasnt strangely working on my phone...)
Im currently stuck on step 2 of the second link..
I have the install-recovery.sh file, which everytime I try to add the code, it saves but when reopening it shows as if I didnt add no lines..
Now the rest parts I dont know what to do, besides not showing the lines added I dont know what is rebooting to recovery, I dont know what is flashing a file (in this case, init.d-autorunner-stock.zip, which I already copied to my sd) and the rest.
Basically I wanted to know if 2048mb swap partition is possible and how to get there.
I never added a custom ROM, its factory settings about ROM, but my phone does support swap. I will provide an image about this.
http://postimg.org/image/sydbst8yv/
Supposedly I only have 185mb at my disposal from swap partition? Im sure im wrong, maybe...
Please, I hope this post is acceptable and obeys the norms of this forum, like I said before I have been reading and trying so much for some days, maybe already 2 weeks now. I made this post as a last resort.
My sincere thanks ahead for everyone, maybe this can help other people aswell.
same problem
I have same problem
stuck on step 2
Reboot into Recovery and flash the init.d-autorunner-stock.zip.
idk wht is this and wht to do ??
plz help me

My phone is rooted.
any help????
Your options would be scripts like DarkTremor or (the slightly more user-friendly) Link2SD.
But be warned: both are not 100% stable... I've finally removed DarkTremor after a lot of issues: How about upgrading to a custom ROM instead?
Hi.
I dont want to start new topic so I use this one to describe my problem.
I read a lot of webs to find solution but here's comes some problems with that.
I've got Samsung Gio S5560 and 4GB SD card. After creating 2 primary partitions FAT32 and ext2 link2sd says that "no space left on device" and i cannot do anything. Even when I use 2GB card or create partition f.e. ext3 it doesn't works.
Can anyone help with that ?
Sorry for my english. I hope is understandable
Of course phone had been rooted.
Android 2.2.1
Regards.
I'm not sure how these scripts determine which partition to use... have you tried partitioning through ClockworkRecovery? Maybe they need the partitions in a certain order or (more likely) some other requirement. CR would very likely take any such requirements into account.
P.S. Your English sounds fine to me, but this doesn't come from a native speaker either, so...
I used to create partitions MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition. On YT there ale some tutorials so I used them. At the beginning I create FAT32 and then ext2. Maybe at the morning I try some new configs with my SD card.
Just bought a new phone, from everbuying.com.
Type/model: Feiteng H9500+
Product website: Everbuying, sorry could not place a link duo the rules on the forum.!!
But you can find my phone typing the model in everbuying.com or google.com
Just rooted the phone yesterday. It is ok, i have the supersu app installed.
Wanted to do one more mod since internal storage was low ( 2GB.)
I wanted to mount my sd-card as an internal storage.
So i installed Mount2SD / Bussybox from Playstore.
On Windows i partitioned my 32 GB card as follow: (With partition home tool)
10 GB Fat32 - Logical
22 GB EXT4 - Primary.
When i restarted the phone, it only recognized the first fat32 partition.
The second EXT4 partition, was not mounted. also there was not any info or error.
Wich is verry weird, does any one knows what i did wrong? Did i forget a step? becouze i can't remeber one!
Seriously? Still not, at this hour , with so many peoples on the internet nowadays ??
Just a simple qeusten isn't it ?? ...
Lol
OR
Did i make a mistake, by putting this post in the wrong section?

I use link2sd on mydevice. So you can try by installing it.
Also keep both partition as primary.
I am not familiar with partition and such things but still you cn try.
Make sure the mount scripts are the latest version installed.
Press thanks if I have helped you.

Link2sd hmm, i agree that it is indeed a good aplication.
But there are better ones like mount2sd wich i have been also using on my previous old phones.
So just wanted and still want to figure out, why mount2sd isn't mounted.
..
have been looking the whole the day on google. but stil could not find it.
I am propably gonna install/flash cwm on the phone. and then try to flash mount2sd trough sd-card.
maybe it will work then, but for now i am still bussy finding a solution to get flash tools to work.
It stil does not download the custom recovery.img to phone, even after a correct scatterfile ..
pfff, so tired of being a geek.. i dont have any idea how this tech world just fits in my fuzzy litle head..
sometimes i wonder, how this tech world fits in my fuzzy litle head... it is difficult, but people do understand it without any introdoction.
Gonna get some sleep now, and contineu tommorow to find a solotion... :good:
Well, quite depressed, and ofc, overreaded almost whole forum and done many of theyr stuff, I CANT, and I REPEAT, CANT, manage to make internal memory of the ACE 5830i to get bigger, tried to follow many of posts, such as cronmod and some script post, but nothing....
Also, Ive triend with many rooms and kernels, but also, noting
Anyone here, could give me and All In One answer the solution please? Thanks for your time
@mironkraft, Judging from your previous experience with wide variety of Custom Roms you must be quite frustrated and consequently so many different script's leftover must be remained inside your Android OS ( i,e: "/system/etc/init.d" folder; /system/bin etc ,etc,,)
So , before I start the long journey and make your internal storage bigger, I need you to revert back to clean stock firmware . Read this instruction from the line starts with "- We need wipe flash-able zip package....." to get the hang of the wipe flash able procedure .
After reverting back to your start point, please pick one custom Rom ,which supports init.d ( you may consult me on what kind of scripts need to be removed from your Zip Rom's content and being compressed again for flashing process).
Now you need to pick your Universal CronMod INT2EXT or + version from this topic and put them inside your root of SD card.
First a bit of explanation on how these scripts function : 100 MB internal storage space is needed for every 500 MB SD-ext partition you are going to create upon my instruction ( for 1 to 2 GB card >> 512 MB ext partition is needed for 4 GB and more preferably class 6 or 4 you should not max out 1024 MB ext 2/4 partition, because after accumulating so many apps , you will experience lagging ).
INT2EXT+ ( my recommendation) makes your Ext partition your Phone's Internal Memory by mounting the ext partition to /data and shows the size under internal (i,e: lets say you have an internal of 290 MB and your Ext partition is 512 MB. So after flashing INT2EXT+, the 512 MB of Ext part is shown in the phone as the internal memory). Therefore "/data/data" will remain on the internal but the size of the internal won't be shown.
Another crucial instruction you need to follow accordingly is "Dalvik-Cache Wipe Tool " which is available inside script's topic. When need arises to wipe /dalvik-cache , you need to flash it through your recovery, because /data/davik-cache was transferred to ext partition to increase your space and CWM or any recovery wont see that .
For the last couple of days we were discussing all of the possible ways to flash this script here mate. Read them carefully and I will walk you through the process , if you have any questions .
Hope I did help you
Ok, Understand, THANKS!
Well, Flashed part by part, thats more than done.
Downloadad CronMod-INT2EXT+_signed
About the ROM, I wanted to use this one : http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=718482 (BLUED DROID KITKAT EDITIO) , wich sadly, is in spanish, but it has int.d support, anywais, If you could recpomend me a rom would be enought. (forgot to say that this is the ZIP of the rom, from mediafire to download : http://www.mediafire.com/download/5iwkhp6sdn9ys86/BlueDroid_KitKat_Edition.zip)
About partitioning, I always did 1024 or lower, because ive got 4 bg class 4, so maybe this is why it doesnt work before, this time ill do lower than 1024
I am going to try up once by myselft, and Ill tell you how goes, thanks for your time, patience and work
(tried and still doesnt work )

OK now ! don't expect me to translate all of the given pages into English ! My language reference is not even English , only using it because of board policy and regulation.
Let me clarify some base ground rules >> Many Roms outside our Developer section come with pirated materials inside ( i,e: Warez copyrighted apps ) or they might have so many bugs inside their body , nobody bother with them ( Rom in question for instance has an outdated kernel >> stable one found here ) it comes with link2sd app , so this app and it's dependencies which is resided inside init.d folder need to be removed for instance ,, this is what i gathered from a brief Google translation part of the Rom's future ,,Definitely might be more into it though. As for recommendation, this is against the Rule , I can not distinguish between them , you can study this topic for well-known Roms available .

Remember this is a legacy device with less than 2o0 MB internal storage accessible. We might be able to mount the external partition and expand our internal storage , but this space will be filled with 100+ app's data quickly. Thus, you might experience not enough space errors , despite the fact your device in settings> Storage shows free space. So don't go over board with your device, after implanting your script successfully . Another issue I need to address is, class 10 SD cards are faster in editing videos and stuff like this, but Class 4 and 6 are more than enough for reading and writing in 4 KB block space performance benchmark, since your device works this way ,, look into this chart 4KB ( Read/Write ) result from Tomshardware.
500 MB ~ 750 MB is suitable for ext2/4 partition to be effective in my opinion.

Give me something to work with you , more through explanation in regards of all well-written instructions links , provided.
Ok, I start about the ROM
Stock ROM, Flashed last one:
CSC_S5830i_PHELL2.tar
MODEM_S5830i_XXLK1.tar
PDA_S5830i_XXLL2.tar
From the package S5830i_XXLL2_PHELL2_XXLK1_wipe_by_SplitFUS2, wich wipes.
Also have saved 2 more,
one with pit and bootloader:
- cooperve_0623.pit + S5830IXXLA4_S5830IOXXLA2_ATO_Repacked
- S5830i_XXLH3_OXXLH1_XXLH3_wipe_by_SplitFUS2
I have just used the bootloader one twice, and the second one just got it saved in case of needed.
------------------------------------------------------
I understand clearly, I will saerch a new ROM on that section, for example, the CM 9.1 ICS, or CM 7.2 REINCARNATION
------------------------------------------------------
Ok, for the memory, in this case the phone isnt going to be used for powerfull stuff, FB, WhatsApp, etc. normal use, so, I guess with the 500mb partition would be enought.
------------------------------------------------------
Reaching here, I guess is the most important to explain now, how I did the install, and how I went over without a satisfactional result.
First, I flashed Stock, second, rooted and CWM,
I partitioned SD CARD 512MB, 0 SWAP and then REBOOTED
I placed in the SD CARD the following ZIPS:
- BLUEDROID KIT KAT EDITION
- CronMod-INT2EXT+_signed.zip
Foramted /data /sd-ext /system
Mount /system
Flashed custom rom (BLUEDROID, NO REBOOTED)
Mounted again /system
Flashed CronMod-INT2EXT+_signed.zip
Rebooted and checked if internal memory was mounted, wich not.
All this steps I did and figured out from posts like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2082465 and the post where it says who to install that ROM (BLUEDROID)
Hope I could managed to make you know or understand what I did, coz english isnt my mother language too, and also, thanks for your time and patience
@mironkraft, I am going to explain the whole concept in plain English and make it really easy for you through PM. Check your inbox later on for some private tutoring ^:^
Hi everyone, need some help
Since i want my device's RAM to increase, or atleast make it become less prone to overloads, i search around the web until i found this "Swap partition"
i wanna give it a try, tbh i am ready to do it, i have the steps, a free SD card, a device that supports it (i guess) and the apps required
however there is one problem...
It seems that i cant determine my SD card's class, as you can see in the picture, so am not sure if it will really work fast...
however i decided to include my SD cards benchmark (default option)
so ya guys, what do you think? Will it work for my SD card? if so what is the recommended size? 128MB or 256MB?
Thanks for reading!
Hey everyone
Here's what's happening ... I have an Samsung Galaxy SM-J500FN 2015 model phone,
a while ago I rooted it (back then it was under Android v5) ... I wanted to tweak some settings but I did something terrible, I played with KNOX.
Apparently KNOX and root don't go well together, my phone wouldn't boot anymore (rebooting loop).
Anyway, it was nothing, I just used Odin and a fresh new Official ROM (Android Marshmallow v6.0.1) and my phone was working again.
But now I discovered something, my phone is supposed to have an Internal Storage of 8GB, and that's the amount my memory settings show, but something was wrong with that, so I searched and after some time I understood that even though it said 8GB, my true storage was 4GB.
(More exactly I had 8GB but 4GB were constantly full, not even used by the system).
After a day I understood what might have happened :
My older ROM that has crashed wasn't erased when I flashed the new ROM, so now half of my Internal Storage is occupied by default meaning that I have two partitions on my phone (similar to when you install Windows and Linux on one PC).
But I cannot find any way to erase/reset my phone totally to get back those 4GB of memory.
If you have some applications, tricks, advice of some sort that could help me, I would really appreciate
Thank you for your time.

Hi, how are you sir.
Ok, first thing you should know, that if your phone is labeled as an 8GB phone then you will only get 4GB no matter what you do, now there is no way that there are 2 roms on one system partition, what may be taking the space could be old data from the old rom like in /android folder and could possibly also be media files from apps that was installed in previous rom like Facebook photos, WhatsApp videos, pics, and voice messages...etc, installing stock rom with Odin doesn't erase any files, but it completely replaces the rom in system partition with new rom.
Okay I see, thank you.
But still, I've explored that 'Android' folder a few times, checked photos, documents, everything ...
Now what I don't really understand is this :
You will only get 4GB no matter what you do

.
Why is that ? Isn't there a way to access this memory ?
BTW : I didn't flash with Rooted Stock ROM, I used an Official Android 6.0.1 ROM from Samsung's Website
EDIT : My phone when started in Recovery Mode first says "No Command" with the Android Red Error logo, then opens the recovery mode like there never was no error involved ... That's one the things that made me say that my phone definitely had some issues with my older ROM.

the reason why you will get 4 only is because the 8GB includes system partition, data partition, cache, preload (if there is one) in addition to the space taken from the formatting, it's pretty much the same like when you buy a 8GB sdcard and you get only about 7.3GB, or when you buy a 16GB phone and you only have 11.5GB for media (my case..), or when you buy a 32GB phone and you find about 8GB already taken from the phone and you get to use about 23GB for media files (my dad's case and you'll notice that in any other 32GB phone), that's what i meant, you also can check any 8GB phone and you will find that he only has 4GB for media...i hope i explained it in an easy way.
in my case i have an s2 with 16GB
i only have 11.5GB for media, and there is 512mb system partition and 512mb preload, and 2GB data partition, and small cache partition.., so that makes it about 14.5GB in total, the missing 1.5GB is due to formatting as far as i know, same as the sdcards thing i said earlier..
p.s: those partitions are unaccessible by default, they are hidden from the user, only way to access them is by rooting the phone and using a root explorer.
Yes I knew about that, but I never knew it took so much place
Thank you for your answer, I guess my phone is totally normal
