So all of a sudden my v10 has starting crashing whenever a program tries to access the front camera including the stock camera application. I am not able to see anything out of the front camera before it crashes. I tried wiping cache and even hard resetting the phone but nothing has fixed it so I'm guessing its a hardware issue. I am trying to avoid sending it to LG due to a couple slight hairline cracks on the screen, it actually cracked under the tempered glass screen protector I had on it from a very small drop while in a obliq case. I am not sure if they will use this against me and tell me I'm **** out of luck and have to pay a crazy amount of money to have it repaired. Also, other than obvious marks someone could accidentally make when dissembling the phone, is there any indicators that tell LG that the phone has been opened up at all? From the dis-assembly videos I have watched it seems as if there's nothing there to indicate it was open or not.

Hey everyone,
I noticed a small dark spot on the left of the pictures I was taking with the phone, and ignored it. This was about 2 months ago.
But just today, I turned on the camera and saw a large smiley face dark patch on the camera. iv tried cleaning it with compressed air, rubbing alcohol, restarting the phone, reflashing the stock firmware. Nothing is helping.
Im really really annoyed, for a phone so expensive why is it plagued with so many problems? Nothing is stopping me from tossing this thing and getting an HTC or something because I am getting a bit fed up with the pink spot, usb port problems, grey spot etc etc. Anyway, enough complaining.
For now, any suggestions?

It's not. When people throw tantys along the lines of 'I'm going to throw this phone against the wall & get a <insert brand/model of phone here>', most people on here roll their eyes and/or laugh. And tend to ignore the person posting same.
Now...To your issue.
It may well be a physical issue with the camera/lens. There may be something trapped inside the glass covering the lens (maybe at manufacture), or it could be a scratch/blemish of some sort on the glass itself.
If it's that much of an issue, I'd send it in for warranty service. Obviously if it's an issue around a scratch or blemish on the glass covering the lens that has developed after you bought the phone, you might well have problems getting it fixed under warranty.
The other thing you could try (you didn't give us any info about rom) would be to go back to stock if you're currently not running stock to rule out a firmware issue, though you did say you noticed it two months ago & let it slide.
To me, that sounds like it's either a hardware problem with the camera/sensor or that lens/glass issue I mentioned.
I too got a spot on the top right hand corner if I use the camera, not otherwise. It's very annoying and now my s2 is NOT in warranty period. What should I do? The upper glass on camera is clean without any scratches.

I've been having some problems with my Galaxy S II recently.
When taking a few pictures, I noticed that there are several black spots that won't disappear. I've attached a picture to help you visualize.
Honestly, I didn't expect the phone's camera to be this horriffic. I've got both a big red spot that's clearly visible on every single photo that I take and several dots that just cannot be unseen.
Having done some research, I found out that there is as of now no way to fix the red-spot problem, as it is caused by some phones' hardware.
I have also used the search function and Google to find information about the black spots I'm also having problems with. Turns out the only way to get rid of them seems to be taking the phone to a professional, in my case T-Mobile.
Having rooted the phone to gain full access, I'd have to get a JIG stick (not a problem, a friend of mine has one) and reset the flash counter. Then I'd have to send my phone to them and wait several weeks for them to fix/replace it.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find another possibility. Is there a way for me to get the what I suppose is dust out of the area beneath the lense? Should I try using compressed air to blow it out?
And if I sent it to my provider and they replaced it, is there a chance of me getting a I9100G instead?
Tl;dr Is there a way to get the dust which causes the artifacts shown in the picture out of underneath the camera's lense that doesn't involve sending the phone to a professional and hope that they'll be able to fix it?

I'd recommend no self-medication,you should un-root it and send it to T-Mobile. It's better that the professionals work on it rather than us. But if you still think you can do it then jsut open your phone with a screw driver? and clean it?
I have the same issue, one day on a boat tour in NY the camera suddenly got spotted with black dots. No warranty so I bought a eyeware repair kit and took it apart and cleaned thoroughly. No improvement. Dropped it in a toilet by accident 3 months later, took everything apart, cleaned more, left it in a bag of rice = still black spots. But its working nonetheless. I'm putting a case on my next phone.
I also noticed a big black spot on mine.
Cleaning lens, nope. Tapping on the back where the camera is, nope.
So I took the back off which was easy. Make sure you remove your sd and sim!!!!!
Take out the screws and use your nail to open. Start prying the back off. It will look and feel like a no go in the beginning but all of a sudden your nails will slide in between and you can work your way around to get it off. I recommend you start at about 2cm or like an inch above the bottom of the device and then go to the bottom corner. The volume and on/off buttons might fall out but no worries, easy to stick m back in.
I took a look at the inside of the cover but nothing that could cause a black spot.
Now when the back is off you can still attach the batt, just make sure you don't make sudden moves as it is not locked in. Also you do not need the sd and sim in to test.
Start it up by gently pressing the power switch with your nail. It boots up like that.
Now start the camera and you will see the spot(s). I would give it a bit of a blow, don't spit . If it is not moving or going away, like in my case, start tapping with your nail on the lens (no harm done). If you tap with the backcover still on you don't actually tap directly on the lens so there is almost no effect. In my case I could see the spot move. I tapped untill the spot was gone.
There was no 'void' sticker on mine and it took me like 10 minutes so if you feel adventurous I would give that a go.
I have a HUAWEI P10 and the camera no longer focus's unless the object is 2 inches from the phone lens.
I sent to back to HUAWEI who said it cant be fixed under warranty as theres damage on the corner of the phone!. They wanted silly money for a repair, and the principle that its under warranty opted me to reject their kind offer of charging for a repair. I paid to get it returned and decided to try repair it myself.
I have all the opening tools to open it, which i did succesfully, had a tinker and realised that the camera lens is easily replaceable.
So i bought a replacement lens, fitted it and the camera app wouldn't open at all. Reset cache - no joy, hardware reset phone - no joy.
I put the original lens back and strangely it started working again!. Only till i restarted the phone then it went back to not focusing again.
I decided the lens i bought must be faulty. So i returned it for a refund.
1 month later i decided to buy another lens and give it another go. Installed the lens but guess what? not focusing again!. Again i erased cache and hardware reset phone - no joy.
Oh and i've tried other third party camera apps such as camera 360..etc - No joy.
Tried removing the cover that goes over the lens to make sure that isn't causing it.- No joy.
There is no damage/scratches/scuffs to the outer glass panel.
99% of the time its blurry, although very very rarely it starts working again. This is with old lens and new lens.
What the heck is causing it to not focus??? Surely its lens related, but it can't be!!!.
My rear camera isn't working properly anymore so I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem so if I can confirm the likely culprit. Whenever I use the rear camera the screen is mainly purple and pixelated and I can only just about see the background through it all.
The front (selfie) camera is fine so I'm just thinking about replacing the camera at the back but thought I'd ask around in case anyone knew of any other common problem it could be in case I was barking up the wrong tree.
I tried to upload a picture of what it looked like but couldn't manage it.
I've watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to replace it and I'm happy to have a go but if anyone's got any experience/advice on that too it would be appreciated.

I had same problem two weeks ago. Suddently the rear camera gone to pink the frontal was good. After the initial panic, I've tried to search internet, on some forums was said to gently push around the rear lens and the camera will show something. Some one says that use this method pushed firmly around the ring and the camera was fixed, some others no.
In my case, pushing around the camera, initially worked for a couple of seconds, then the image was flickering with vertical green lines, noises, and interlaced "grid" grey scan lines like old videogames. then was hardly usable only pushing around the rim for about one minute for take a normal photo. here is the attachments of panic:silly:
I think the camera was damaged by too much overheat that unglued the backplate, and consequentially the use or some hit or light fall may had damaged the flex sensor or the placement lens on the motherboard. In fact in the previous months i had noticed the backplate was moving if poked with fingers on the edges. I mean gently pressed and the back plate was moving. Doing the pressure factory test, it was around 1020,3-1001Millibar on static and changed when pressed on screen or on the back. I had a dbrand skin on the back and due to the heat shrinked and became smaller. I think the overheat was caused by the firmware updates and some app that sucked away the battery in years. Upgrading from Lollipop, twice to MM, to Nougat, in years and then in the last time some flash to MM and then to Nougat again give it the final hit, especially the first time power up after flashing when you have to set everything from scratch.
I sent it in warranty repair, for camera damaged, added the request to swap battery due to duration (because on June the warranty ends ) and to check and fix the IP68 requirements, also noticing very overheat issues.
Now the pressure test is a solid fixed 999,01-999,03Millibar and the feel is more solid in general when handled. If you have luck when Sony repair it, the screen protector on the front if you have applied, won't be touched, only the back.

So did they just replace the camera module that is plugged in to the top at the back? (obviously apart from battery too).
Your post seems to suggest overheat which caused motherboard damage too.
Unless I've read it wrong you're suggesting swapping the camera will fix the problem.
I know I'd obviously need a new back cover too.

So the other day when I attempted to fix my G5 (a double failure as replacing the powerbutton didn't fix the fingerprint issue and the GPS hack didn't work either) I ****ed up in the part where when you are opening it up and you are using picks to separate the back from the front and on the lower left I managed to partially separate the glass from the screen a little. The screen itself is still working fine but in the dark you can see light bleeding from the edge where it got separated and upon closer inspection you can tell its sticking up a little. I was going to give the phone to my kid, but since I'm sure even a little drop of rain on the phone will now ruin it, I'm wondering if there's a way to restick the screen without replacing the whole screen/digitizer assembly.
Sure buds my brother is having the same issue. Watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xi3YD9SN4aM) and it should give you an idea of how to fix it. I'd personally pull it up a little and dab a tiny amount of glue around the edge of the lose area.
