My Moto E was working fine.
About a week ago, I went to use my work app and the tap to snap a picture feature is no longer working.
I tried a soft reboot of the phone and it still doesn't work.
Is there anyway to get this back without doing a hard reset?

Help. I reset my T2 a couple days ago and after the reset my rear camera doesn't work. When I start the camera it just shows a black screen then times out. As far as I know I haven't dropped it.
Any ideas? I called HTC and they need me to send it back for warranty. I don't want to be without a phone for 2 weeks.
Same Issue
You are not alone. I had noticed the camera working intermitantly and I have not did a hard reset. I was thinking it was an app. that did this. Please let me know your findings and Yes two weeks with out a phone doesnt work for me...
Have you tried this?
Have you tried going into the settings menu and swipe over to applications and then scroll down to Picture+Camera, then scroll all the way down to the bottom and there is a reset camera button. Hit that and see if it does anything.

hi all
i bought a new xolo q 1000s just before a week. i remember i had checked the rear camera from the shop. after four or five days, when i tried to use the camera for the first time, it shows only the front camera, no option anywhere to shift to back camera. i tried a lot, installed other camera apps to get the back camera, but i didn't get it. then i did factory reset, after that the camera app itself went missing. my phone is not rooted. but no camera app is seen. installed other apps. they shows only front camera. i went to settings>apps and reset app settings, no use. when i tried to shift camera in cymera app, it said you have no front camera! meantime showing the front camera, and being unable to use the back one. when tried flash light app it says you have no flash light, but my mobile has one. tried factory reset four times, through settings menu and pressing home+ power+ volume up. same story!
so please help me, as i bought the mobile from india, and now in Dubai, unable to go back soon to india to approach a customer care center.
Thanks in advance
Hello,
My camera suddenly stopped working :[
I have cm11, and when I try to launch the app, it says "can't connect to the camera".
I tried rebooting, tried to factory restore, tried different apps, still nothing :|
Is there way to check that the camera is connected? maybe for some reason it disconnected
from the motherboard?
Flash stock firmware and factory reset, if still the same then reconnect/replace the camera module. I replaced mine recently, it took me 10 minutes and cost £5.
So after everything else didn't work,
decided to take apart the phone.
Turned out that the camera was disconnected as I thought,
Have no Idea how that happened, the phone did fall few days ago,
not that hard though...
Anyway works now, just the resolution settings for the back cam are the same
as for the front one... max resolution is 1.9mp :\
Will try to flash again...
I got my Blackview BV6000 two weeks ago and everything was working just fine, until after a week I think, camera started to present the message "Can't connect to the camera". After closing and opening it a few times it eventually worked as it was supposed to. It annoyed me a lot so I wrote on official Blackview forum about this problem. Admin replied that I should try factory reset. I did, and I regret it. After opening the camera application works normally, until I tap the screen anywhere. As long as I for example take photos or videos with physical button, everything is fine, but if i want to use on-screen ones or change something in settings - phone freezes and I have to lock-unlock it a few times to make it react for touch, then i can turn the frozen camera app off. Sometimes it even makes the phone restart. Other applications using camera dont work too, they also freeze when i tap anywhere on the screen.
Is it software problem? Official Blackview forum isn't helpful at all.
Nobody knows what may be the problem? Looks like the software to me since i can still take pics with physical button.
Model Number: MT2L03
Build: MT2-L03C00B322
Android version: 5.1
EMUI 3.1
Not rooted.
Not sure exactly what the issue is. I think it needs a new battery. Because when it gets down to 10% left it will randomly go down to 2% all of the sudden, then I will get that message saying "phone powering off" then the phone is difficult to ever get back on... which is why I try to never let the battery go completely dead.
Anyways the other night it went completely dead..... I charged it for forever it seemed, I noticed it was a little warmer than usual.
I ignored it and left it plugged in.
The next day I took it apart (I have taken it apart before, and put it back together with everything working fine)
Reason I've taken it apart in the past is because I had to replace the lcd screen because the other one got sat on and it shattered.
So I have an originally white phone with a black lcd screen....
Anyways I took the phone apart again, looked at the battery to make sure it wasn't bloated or warm anymore. It was fine.
I turned it back on and I noticed when I open the stock camera app it kept saying "can't connect to camera" or something similar.
So I took it apart again, unplugged the camera and plugged it back in, tried rebooting the phone, and when I opened camera again the phone then rebooted itself a few times.
Now instead of getting the message of "unable to connect to camera" it's as if the phone doesn't see the rear camera at all anymore.
The flash for the rear camera doesn't work anymore either.
I got it to turn on for a while, when it couldn't connect to the rear camera, but then it didn't want to turn off, then the phone rebooted itself, and now I can't get the rear camera or the flash to work.
The front camera works fine. But as for the rear camera there are no options to switch to it like there used to be.
On the top of the camera app there used to be a sort of "refresh" icon that would switch between the two cameras, that's gone though.
I also tried downloading apps that tell you about android hardware... and they say for secondary camera something like "not detected"
I made sure though.... the rear camera is plugged in all the way.
I even tried the backup and reset thing....
I don't know how to boot this model of phone into safe mode. I tried holding the power button, but I'm not sure if you hold the physical button, or long press the power icon on the screen???
I opened the camera app and went to settings and restored defaults.
I also tried opening app info for camera and clicking clear data. Neither helped.
How do I get android to see that there is a camera there?
Would downgrading the phone to the original build it was on help?
I think it was originally android 4.3.
Edit: So my main questions are... how do I boot into safe mode?
Would rooting it and clearing the dalvik cache work maybe? Isn't that what causes android to say "optimizing app X of X" when booting up?
How do I root this phone? After I root it would there be anything I can do to troubleshoot the rear camera or flash?
It just seems weird to me that one minute it says it can't connect, but the flash was working. Then the phone rebooted itself, and now it doesn't even seem to realize that there is a rear camera plugged in. And now the flash for camera isn't working either. Even did a backup and reset.
