Soft brick and WTF stuff - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone !
first of all, sorry for my poor english.
i'd just rooted my plk-l01 using fastboot tool, and some weeks after, I did a REALLY stupid thing, after putting my simcard, i tried to install the 5.1.x update.
Of course it didn't worked. My phone just boot on twrp recovery, and a guy told me that wipe the phone would work. Bastard. Now I just have my twrp, alone.
I found this tutorial -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/hon...ers-how-to-root-update-fix-t3255452?nocache=1 (in the bootloop fixing section)
I've download the extractor and update, but I have two things that doesn't match. first, in the UPDATE.APP file, I don't have boot.img and stuff but CRC.img, CURVER.img...
And the WTF part comes when I plug my phone to my computer. It detects my phone storage (terribly empty) and my sd card, but the name of my phone is now GEM-703L, an other Huawei phone.
What can I do ?? I don't wanna touch anything without being sure I won't transform my phone onto a 299$ paperweight, and I really hope fixing is possible.
Thanks a lot for your future answers, and sorry if someone had the same trouble, but I didn't find anything which could help me on XDA.

That's the mediapad X2, it's what the Chinese TWRP is actually for...
Go [here] to grab the stock recovery of your choice (B100 or B120)
Go [here] and download B100 or B120 FULL
Unzip and copy the UPDATE.APP to your sdcard in directory called "dload"
Flash stock recovery
Turn phone on holding power, vol+ and vol-
Wait until finished.....
Relax :silly:

[Q] Bootloop, USB Connectivity etc.

So, I have CyanogenMod 7.0.3 Stable flashed in my Legend, and it's been working just fine. Until couple days ago when I made some theme changes through Theme Chooser and flashed some theme add-ons. Now the phone is acting just stupidly. It's in a bootloop (sometimes loops in HTC bootscreen, sometimes in the CyanogenMod bootscreen), usb connectivity doesn't work (fastboot usb works, adb/mass storage etc. doesn't). I have tried to wipe the phone and flash that rom/recovery again through fastboot, but fastboot says "remote: not allowed" or something like that. Bootloader works, fastboot works, even recovery works but it's no use 'cause adb driver doesn't recognize the phone.
Please guys, help me. What should I do to get my phone running again? (working CyanogenMod or even a stock without root, I don't care, I just want this thing up and running again)
EDIT: And the weird thing is, that couple times I was able to boot the phone normally using recovery by just sticking the usb cable into the phone. And also, couple times I was able to boot it normally by just using fastboot reboot (I was able to get to the HTC Setup screen and then it would crash and show just black screen with notification bar)
It's possible the you're USB bricked. A quick search of "USB unbrick" should bring the required thread to light (search in development)

Yeah, I have thought of that! Only problem is that how am I supposed to get the required files (flash_image and .img) to SD card without a way to manage SD card? Can I flash the image using fastboot?
I can't do it inside the phone 'cause I'm in a bootloop and can't boot the phone.
EDIT: Is there a chance to do a wipe and flash a new rom using only fastboot or something?
In theory you can flash without recovery, but only if you're S-OFF. You'll need the ROM in .img format too.
I used a microSD to SDCard reader to transfer the files., they're fairly cheap in high street stores. Or borrow a friends Android phone

Well, am I able to flash those files once they are in the SD card? I mean with S-ON cause I don't have S-OFF?
Or is my phone a complete brick? =( Cause I'm pretty much all out of ideas..
Once you've got the files needed for a USB unbrick on your SD card you'll be fine
if you have recovery access did you try to make apply update from SD card in order to pass in cwm recovery.
if you got a USB brick you can use a multifonction printer to mount your SD on your computer.
So in a nutshell, my problems are:
- My Legend is in a bootloop
- Apparently my phone is USB bricked cause only fastboot works
- I don't have a recovery, when I go manually into recovery (recovery -> POWER + VOL UP) it goes into stock recovery
- And also my phone is S-ON
Could you guys point me into the right direction with this, I really want my phone back working. What should I do?
When you get to the stock recovery, navigate to ans select "flash update.zip from SDcard" That should get you to ClockworkMOD. Once there you'll need to use ADB to push the files required for the USB unbrick procedure to the SDcard (adb push [files-on-pc] /sdcard/) You should no be able to perform the the USB unbrick.
You may need your phone plugged into a PC for it to boot

But I'm getting this blue recovery screen with only four options instead of the original green one including option to flash zip. So wtf has happened?
EDIT: In the blue recovery screen it says Can't open cache/recovery/command. And when I choose "apply sdcard:update.zip" it says "signature verification failed" and it aborts the installation.
Fakeflash.

So I am able to flash roms only using this menu? Am I correct? Just do a wipe and apply update.zip?
Why does it say "verification failed" then?
EDIT: Oh I see, I have to download fake-flash update.zip and apply update.zip takes me to the clockwork recovery? When I put the update.zip to the SD card and apply it, then it should go on with out any "verification failed" errors?

My main priority is just to get the phone to run normally again, I can worry about the USB Unbrick later. So I just want to do a full wipe and flash Cyanogenmod again. Am I able to do all that is required to run the phone again normally with fakeflash?
Thanks in advance TheGrammarFreak, I really appreciate your help!
The phone won't run normally until you do a USB unbrick.
One of the things that happens with this USB brick is that a flag for advanced debugging gets set. It's a very deep setting, and the setting is read ad the HBOOT level. If this flag is set to on (like it is in a USB brick) the phone will not boot unless it's plugged into a computer. Remember that
In order to get your phone back I believe you will need to plug your phone into the PC and turn it on. It should boot, if not you will need to get to recovery and wipe/reflash (you'll need to do this while plugged into a PC too). Once you have a running system/you're in recovery you can use ADB to push the files needed for a USB unbrick to your SD card.
Assuming you got that far, you should be in a prime position to follow the USB unbrick procedure.
I'm going away tomorrow for a week, and I will not be online at all. If you need more help you will need to get someone else in. That said, I believe that with the information in this thread, the USB unbrick thread, the fakeflash thread and Google you have enough information and help top fix your phone

follow this guide, helped me a lot.
you'll need root access.

[Q] Rooting a P76920h?

I'm trying to root my sons phone because of the stupid SD card issues and lack of internal storage. I searched high and low (I thought?) both here and via Google searches but couldn't find anything specific for this firmware version. I am a bit of a noob to this rooting thing, though, so maybe that's it... I tried using this guide here but it didn't work. I'd click restore but the phone would never reboot. It would just briefly say "restore started" then "restore ended" and that would be it. Is there a guide anywhere specific to this firmware? I know it's fairly new-ish. He's using JB 4.1.2, if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

You should search for "root" in L9 General or FAQ forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2511695
What worked for me
What is required:
-Phone drivers
-Fastboot (You'll find it in fastboot drivers directorium) and adb
-Fastboot drivers
-Recovery.img (I'd recommend cwm touch, because on my phone twrp has issueswith restoring backups)
-Zip that will root your phone (copyed to external SD card)
Instructions:
1. Install mobile phone drivers
2. Install fastboot drivers
3. Extract ADB
4. In terminal type adb devices to check if your phone is recognised as adb device
5. Type adb oem-unlock (terminal)
==================
Phone reboots to bootloader
==================
6. Read whats on screen
7. If you want to unlock bootloader push vol+
=================
If everything worked as it was supposed, phone will be recognised as fastboot device
=================
8. Type fastboot devices to check if phone is recognised propperly
9. Type fastboot flash (boot) recovery "path_to_your_recovery.img" (flash if you want to change your recovery with cwm/twrp, and boot if you just want to use custom recovery this time)
9.1. Turn off your phone and boot to recovery by holding vol+ home and power, when phone vibrates release just the power button, when you see logo of cwm/twrp release everything*
10. Flash the .zip
11. Reboot phone
*Skip this step if you used boot instead of flash
**All credits go to Cmahendra for submiting the guide
Thanks guys! That second one worked like a charm. I thought I'd searched properly but I guess not.
was it difficult? im not really savy at this .

Was easy as pie, actually! I'm pretty new to this too, just follow the instructions exactly. In order to install the phone drives on my PC, all I did was plug my phone into the computer via USB and it prompted all the installations I needed.

Wrong recovery flashed, now can't get recognized by flashing program

I accidentally flashed wrong recovery.img to my ATM7021 -based tablet. Now when the tablet is booted it does not boot into OS but into recovery. I cannot get the tablet to be recognized by the flashing program (Tablet Product Tool), before this I had to press power + vol down but now the tablet just boots.
Is the tablet totally bricked now or are there any suggestions?
The tablet can be recognized by ADB, it sees it when I type:
adb devices
and I can command "adb reboot booloader" but that just resets the device back to recovery.
If you can use adb in the recovery then make use of it!
Adb flash recovery recovery.img. Not sure how that works with mediatek devices, but I'd try to use adb to do something like that. For devices with fastboot it's just fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.
If the recovery works then flash recovery as a zip.
Google on how to use adb to flash recovery, hopefully you'll get it to work.
OK, I didn't know adb can be used to flash, I tried fastboot but apparently it does not work, it can't see the device.
I'll have to Google for instructions, but I do have all firmware files available and there is "apply update from sdcard" or something, can the firmware be just zipped and reflashed? The software I used (to flash and screw up) was Actions Pad Tool or similar which no longer recognizes the device.
Update to this, I tried to zip the recovery image to zip and place it in SD Card. When I power on the device it tried to update from the SD card but it resulted in error, ERR 2 I believe it said.
I do have all .img files which apparently are required for the firmware.
Well no progress so far. I cannot get the tablet to go into flash mode for Pad Product Tool.
However, I read somewhere that if you open the tablet and short two pins of the nand chip the tablet is then forced to go into AFDU mode and Pad Product Tool should then recognize it. Can anyone confirm that this is true and have you succesfully restored your tablet by using this method?
You should've replied with a quote like my signature says so I'd reply you quicker.
I've heard about this pins shorting, but make sure you short the right pins of your very own device as this stuff - when done wrong can kill your device.
Send me the updater-script from the zip that you have made, but first dig the Web for recovery flashable firmware of your tablet. You just might eventually find it.

OK, at this point I must say I have some knowledge about computer but far less about Android firmwares. I only zipped those image files and then tried to install them via sdcard so clearly I did someting wrong then. The firmware files are from the Chinese seller and he keeps telling to flash them via Actions Pad Tool, fails to understand I cannot get the table to flash mode.
Okay, I opened the tablet and apparently the NAND chip is made by Micron?
The code is: 29F64G08CBABA
According to this thread Onda V811 uses same chip:
http://www.androidtablets.net/threads/locate-tf-boot-pins-for-29f64g08cbaba-nand-flash-memory.58072/
And the user in that thread apparently did find correct pins but unfortunately the attachment does not work.
EDIT: Here is more discussion about that:
http://www.androidtablets.net/threads/onda-v811-completely-dead.58060/
Now I have to figure which pins to short.

Huawei y360 stuck in bootlog after root

I rooted my Huawei y360 today. An update came to my phone from Huawei and I downloaded and installed it. The phone restarted and now is stuck in bootlog -it won't restart fully. It keeps coming up in recovery mode....... I need HELP!

I had the same thing. It looks like Huawei bricks the phone on purpose. Not very customer friendly
Here's how to unbrick :
Download a Huawei stock firmware, for instance from
http://consumer.huawei.com/nl/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=77123&key4=Y360&key5=webisearch
This particular version is 2016-3-25 V100R001C577B113 847.34 MB
Unzip the file and copy dload/update.zip including the directory to the root of an sd card.
Then press Vol-UP and Power at the same time, and select install updates. Done.
i have an problem my huawei y360 is giving me problem its trying to load up and stop a went to the bootlog so am trying to custom rom it because i dont have any assess to the phone.
hello.
i have the same issue here with my y360.
after i did kingroot and restarted my phone after an update only the logo boot remained.
the fw update from sd card didnt work because the phone doesn't recognize the card, afterwards i tried to flash it with the sp flash tool (old and new versions) but it was either ''invalid scatter file'' or ''dram error something...'' ofcourse i tried different fw versions but nothing worked.
anybody has an idea what to do or i should throw it to the garbage? thanks
I have the same thing going on. Trying to fix y360 for my nephew. Keeps bootlooping. It's stock.
Tried to use SP Flash Tool, but it keeps nagging about a faulty scatter.txt file, even though I downloaded the newest firmware directly from Huawei (so it has to be the right one).
I then tried to do an ADB sideload, that's what I can access right now. adb sideload update.zip (from inside the manufacturer's .rar file).
adb push does not work because ADB is not recognised, because the phone won't turn on.
Goes ok until 53% and then crashes. Internal memory runs out?
From what I can find,I should push the dload folder to sdcard, but I can't, because I can't mount the external sdcard to transfer the folder to.
So, my only option seems to be to borrow someone's phone with a microSD slot to transfer the folder, then change the card to the y360? Or get an adapter SD->microSD, then transfer the folder? Neither of which are available to me right now. Is this for real?
Damn, I miss the fastboot flash system system.img command of the more advanced phones.
70% of the instructions about this model bricking are in Spanish, so it is kind of hard to figure out what to do.

Honor 7 bricked after Root - Rescue mode and Recovery OK but no access to disk

Hi everybody,
Sorry if my post already exists and if my english is bad but i really need help...
I tried to root my honor 7 so first i unlocked bootloader successfuly, i installed TWRP too and everything seemed work very good until last step where my phone didn't boot, i stayed stuck in boot logo... Then I done a factory reset with wipe cache, dalvik, data etc...
Now the only things i'm able to do are boot on recovery mode, eRecovery and on fastboot&rescue mode. I lost adb and fastboot and i'm not able to acess to the phone so i can't put a rom on the phone to install it...
If anyone could help me it would be very nice because I'm going crazy. Thank you !
My phone was up-to-date, i can't remember witch firmware i had but i think it was Android 6.0.1
